Loved your review so much, I just bought one. I had purchased a Polaris Sport unit about a year and a half ago. Getting it fixed is going to take weeks and weeks. So I'm going to upgrade it and the the Dolphin Premier as my daily. And when and if they can fixt my 950IQ Sport, I will have a back up. Trust me...having the old 950IQ running changed my life. Amazing! And when the left side just stopped working (all wheel drive, one side stopped) our pool started turning. I have a pool service weekly as well. But we have lots of trees , and live just north of Houston, TX so lots of humidity, leaves, pine needles etc. I'm sold on robotic maintenance. Wife and I are in the pool probably 2 to 3 a week at least. Love your reviews! Keep them up!
Appreciate the feedback! The Premier is a lifesaver. After testing so many robots, I can safely say it’s the best one I have tested. It’s waterline cleaning ability is unmatched when compared to the other Maytronics cleaners. Plus, I’ve found myself using the Leaf Bag more than any other filter options. I’m glad we could help you find your robot! Please make sure to like and subscribe if you haven’t already as it helps us continue making videos like these!
Thank you for the great information. I took the plunge and purchased the dolphin premier. My question is; do I use the filters along with the leaf bag?
Hi love, my dolphin premiere it is a workhorse. I was searching for a video that is a DIY and came across yours it is great. I need to put new climbing wheels on. The foam wheels have lasted since 2018! I cannot find any instructions on how to get to them to replace them. Could you point me in the right direction or advise. Much appreciated.
Great content!! In reading your replies to comments from viewers like myself, I believe all concerns are answered with the Dolphin Premier. Like the comment from JC, I was thinking about the Dolphin Sigma but I agree that saving the few extra dollars will be compensated for with the programmable timer. One quick comment... we too are new to the pool ownership (had above ground 25 years ago that came with a previous home we purchased and ended up taking it down). We just purchased another home with a large above ground pool (41' x 20') will all below ground plumbing (2 skimmers and 2 floor drains - 3 shut off valves that feed to the filter). My question is... we live in a community now that is well and septic and the water here has some traces of iron that discolor the water and I just wanted to hear your thoughts if the Premier or the Sigma is a better fit. Not a whole lot of trees and leaves to worry about as we have a few but not overwhelming. The larger concern is filtering the water when we have to add from the well to best clean and provide clear and appealing water to swim in. Your thoughts on this will be much appreciated and, btw - I did HIT the subscriber tab!! Happy Memorial Day All...(:
We appreciate it! We'd highly recommend both the Sigma and Premier as they both included the Ultra-Fine Filter! We'd probably give the Premier a little higher for you, as you will have the 3 filter options included! Saving the few extra dollars and having the programmable timer is super nice, as we really love the option to schedule the cleaner directly from the Premier's power supply. Please let us know if you have anymore questions! We are more than happy to help and provide any insight. The filter bag should go on with the strap on the filter bag being on the inside. The seams go on the outside of the frame! It should slip over all of the wire frame!
@@ThePoolNerd I thought the strap was on the outside and it helps separate the bag into two compartments that then straddles the inner mechanics. Really wish they had been more clear on how this should go. I love the bag. It collects every little thing. May never switch over to the filters.
So, is it okay to keep the cleaner in the pool all the time? Will this damage the cleaner, or should I pull the unit out and store dry between cleanings?
It is fine to keep it in between cleanings and when it is scheduled! To really preserve the unit, we would recommend to take it out as it will help maintain the unit's health and the sun can cause the colors to fade! We do recommend purchasing a caddy if you have not already! Here are our favorites: Terra Caddy - amzn.to/3x4OuKL Dolphin Universal Caddy - amzn.to/3r35spc We really love the Terra Caddy. It is solid bamboo that is UV-resistant & Waterproof. We prefer it over the Dolphin Caddy, as it is a little sturdier and better built. They recently updated it as well. For caddy covers (if the caddy is store where there is sunlight), we recommend this one as it fits both of the ones above: Dolphin Caddy Cover - amzn.to/3Je6Rzs Let us know if you need anything else or have any questions. We are more than happy to help!
Never swim in the pool with a cleaner in it PERIOD. But I take mine out after cleaning. I guess you could keep it in...not sure why? Do you not use your pool?
@thepool nerd can you demonstrate how the bag is attached? Do you have dual filtration at the same time when bag is attached for large debris and the cartridges for small micron debris?
The bag is attached via the filter base of the unit. It goes around the holder and is easily removed/put back on!. You can't have both filters and bag on at the same time, but it only takes a few seconds to swap it out if you want to change it!
Is it safe to use with a vinyl liner? It seems like a 40lbs unit climbing and dwelling at the water line would be detrimental to the integrity of the vinyl liner. Thanks for your review!
It is perfectly safe with a liner! The unit itself only weighs about 15lbs. A ton of the weight is actually the box, packaging, power supply, and all of the included filters! It won't damage or hurt the vinyl liner at all! Let us know if you have any questions, we are happy to help!
First of all, thank you for the great video. A new pool owner and hating life due to sucky pool cleaners. A quick question: Does this have a phone app that will let you turn on / off the cleaner from the phone? Thank you.
While it does not have an app, it does have a programmable timer with an optional remote. This allows almost all the same features of the app. It allows you to schedule the Premier to clean every single day, every other day, or 3 times a week. It is really easy to use. If you're looking for an app, check out the Dolphin Sigma!
@@ThePoolNerd Thank you. I'll just save that $500 and rely on the scheduled timer. =) I did buy the remote, too. Anyways, great and informative video. I'm a subscriber now.
@@basecamp2252 I eventually bought a Dolphin Sigma. It has a phone app, and it's so much better. My pool is in the middle of a relatively densely treed area, so I get a lot of debris. My pool cleaner essentially runs 20 hours a day - except when the kids are swimming, and it's pretty good. I just have my iPhone scheduled to send the run command every 3 hours.
I have issues with Polaris 9550 robots getting stuck on stairs, which has caused wear lines on my vinyl liner. I have two, a metal latter that can't be removed, it would get stuck under it and just keep moving forward cause it wont try and reverse until it starts to go up the side wall which it could never done, then i have a large plastic set of stairs that the robot would do the same thing, it would hit the front of the stairs, and the handle of the robot would get stuck on the first lip of the stairs, so it would just keep going and going forever cause it couldn't go up. what i need is something that knows its stuck, wont get stuck at all due to how it can perform, or wont just keep going straight forever not knowing its stuck. Have you had any reviews or tests done on situations where other brand robots get stuck. I'd be worried with this having the rear cleaner if it got stuck would cause a bigger wear line on the vinyl liner.
It seems great. Do you know if it will go up the steps of my pool and clean the tanning ledge? Also, am I seeing $1400 as the price? Is that the right ballpark? Thanks Mr. Pool Nerd.
Yes, that is correct. Depending on your stairs and the water depth of the tanning ledge, it *should* be able to clean it! It can vary based off of the water depth, length of stairs, etc. It should be able to though! The Premier is a fantastic cleaner, you'll love it! It is our top pick for a robotic pool cleaner! Pool Nerd Guy, I am leaning on buying the Dolphin Premier, but I've been looking at specs and I seen some specs saying 50 and 65 ft electric cords. I need a 65 ft cord for my pool. Where can I find one with a 65 ft electric cord?
It has a 60ft cord (meant for all sizes up to 50ft!). However if you place it in the middle of your pool, you should have no issues at all with the cord. The only other alternative is checking out the Dolphin Wave line, but those are commercial units and some of the cords aren’t as long. We should have some reviews of those coming out soon, but most won’t have all the nice features like programmable timer, leaf bag, etc.!
