Thank you for the helpful videos. Have you ever reviewed the Polaris pool cleaner?
What about the Dolphin oasis Z5i ?
Thanks for insightful review, I'll go for the #1 option
Thanks for sharing. After watching many videos between the sigma and premier, I finally went with the sigma.
Great choice! The Sigma is a fantastic choice! We are super impressed by the power and performance! We are glad we could help you find a robotic pool cleaner for your pool!
are these any good at cleaning steps? i have a tanning shelf on my pool and the stairs getting cleaned automatically would be great
Thank you so much!
So glad we could help! Hope you enjoy your cleaner!
Thank you for sharing this important and professional review... quick question:
I have tried the Dolphin Nautilus CC Pro and the Beatbot Aquasense... but not satisfied with the mapping of my pool, since both left some areas uncleaned. My pool is almost a kidney shape with stairs and round walls-to-floor....
Do you have any other robot recommendation?
Thx for the tip - I went with the premier!
Great choice! We are glad we could help!
How's the premier woking out?
Great review! Love how I found this just in time. What pool cleaner do you recommend for concrete pools, my biggest problem is algae getting stick in between the rough patches of my pool. Also cleaning up fine sand at the bottom of the pool. Any recommendations?
You'll 100% want the Dolphin Sigma or Premier! Both units come with an Ultra-Fine Filter for Sand. The Premier will have more filter options with an extra leaf bag, but the Sigma has a more features, top loading filter, and has an additional motor and gyroscope. You cannot go wrong with either!

I just found your channel! Thank you for this in-depth review! Would your recommendations defer for a saltwater pool?
Hi Melody,
Our recommendations would be the same for a saltwater pool as well! All of these units work exactly the same in a saltwater pool as well! So our top 2 choices would be the Dolphin Premier and Dolphin Sigma!
Just got pool completed. Brushing walls and floor. Ready for a robot. Best reviews I’ve seen to date. Thanks
Thank you! We appreciate it! Make sure to check out our videos on our Pool Cleaning Guide! We should have a lot coming out very soon!
Thank you for the info and reviews! I have an unground 16 x 30 oval with concrete floor with stainless steel walls and tile near the coping. I have never owned a robotic cleaner, so I wanted to know if there would be any issues getting one with the walls being stainless.
We are happy to help! While we have never tested them on a stainless steel walls, it should be able to clean them great! We would really recommend the Dolphin Premier or Dolphin Sigma for your pool, as those are 2 of the better waterline cleaners! Amazon offers 30 day returns, so you can try these cleaners risk free. They should work perfect for you!

Not mentioned, but we had the Polaris DVX(?) IQ+ and returned it because I was still having to brush my pool each night, it also didn't do crap for the shallow landing.
I really like your direct style. You get to the point, and that's much appreciated. After watching numerous videos, your style and delivery are the BEST. I'm torn between buying the Sigma or the Premier. The Premier is about $300 cheaper on AMZN. Your thoughts? Perhaps the Premier is a model they are about to discontinue? I have a medium size pool that collects sand and blowing dust in the high desert of Nevada. I want the floor and water line of the pool as clean as it can be.
Both the Premier and Sigma are fantastic options, especially if you struggle with some sand (make sure to use the ultrafine filter! It is included with both of these robots!). If you want the app, go with the Sigma. The Sigma is likely worth the difference if you're a big fan of the high tech and extra features.
If you want the ability to switch filters and to a leaf bag, go with the Premier! The Premier recently got updated by Maytronics, so I don't think it is going anywhere for a while. The power and cleaning power for the money is unmatched with the Premier. It is a great value compared to the rest of Maytronics cleaners. It is leagues ahead of almost all of their other cleaners.

@@ThePoolNerd Thank you!
@@ThePoolNerd What upgrades did the Premier get recently?
Awesome video, very helpful! I have a pool that has an attached hot tub. Will any of these work will in a round hot tub?
All of these would work in a hot tub. It may be hard for it to reach certain spots depending on the size/shape, but you can definitely throw it in there!
Thanks for your review. Great job. I appreciate your points regarding the ultra fine filtering. I’m searching for a new robot for our home in Florida. My biggest concern is scrubbing and picking up the algae dust from this pool because is inside a pool cage that protects it from leaves. Also seem to have bugs and silt on the surface. Previously had a Pentair Kreepy Krauly Prowler 820 at our previous home and it did a great job. Problem with that one was that after it ran for a few hours and I was pulling it out of the pool, so much of the debris it had collected drained right back in to the pool as the device was coming out of the pool.
For sure! You'll likely want the Dolphin Sigma or Dolphin Premier! Both have that Ultra-Fine filter that will be able to get all of that algae dust you have in your pool! Both units filter an impressive 75 gallons per minute (over 4500GPH!) and combined with the ultra-fine filter, it will help clear up your pool. The raw filtering power of the robots is something that is vastly overlooked. Not only do they vacuum and clean debris, they also filter out a lot of nasty stuff in your water, which is why we recommend running the unit even if your pool looks to be in good shape! You would not believe what the units could pick up.

a video Ive been looking for have been looking for a robotic cleaner great review ,just wondering each one is different, but they all have elec cords ,my question is do any of these have issues with tangling of the elec cords.when roaming in the pool?. And how does one take out of pool when done thinking you pull up by the elec cord.ty,,,
None of them will get tangled, almost all of these cleaners have an anti-tangle swivel which allows the cord to not get tangled! To pull the unit out of the water, simply pull gently on the cord to reel the robot back in and pull it out of the water! Please let us know if you have any questions, we are more than happy to help!

I had the dolphin nautilus pro. Great vacuum. I’m thinking of getting a new one. One would think with all the new technology why the top performers are still using the battery pack with long cord. A completely wireless robot would be so much better? Any complete wireless ones you tried?
Honestly, the Dolphin Sigma is the way to go. All of the wireless ones, including AIPER, cannot live up to the standards of Maytronics and Aquabot. We recommend the Dolphin Sigma if you want the top Maytronics unit.

Hi, is there any solar power based water surface robot you can comment on?
What parts will eventually need to be replaced? Tracks? Filter? things like that. And maybe frequency of replacement parts.
What is the best robot cleaner for a pool with a beach entry? I've had no luck and most manufacturers are pretty evasive with their answers.
Great reviews! I'm shopping for my 1st robotic. 2 questions: will I be able to put my pool brush in storage once I purchase a robotic? And, I've read that it's best to remove the robotic from the pool after use, hose down and store away, which begs the question, why have a programmable timer for daily or so use?
Hi Jim,
Robotic pool cleaners are really that good. While you may occasionally use the brush, I rarely, if ever, have to use mine. I would highly recommend a waterline cleaning unit, such as the Dolphin Premier, Sigma, or Quantum that have Waterline Cleaning. Make sure it has waterline cleaning, not wall climbing, as it is a big difference!
Secondly, I frankly never really take mine out of the pool, besides when I am using it. When I take it out, I use the Terra Caddy (I have a review on my channel as well!) and wheel it to my storage area and put the caddy cover over it! I think it is a general recommendation to keep it in the best condition possible. You will want to leave it in the pool when you schedule it to run. I run my everyday, so you likely will too!

Let me know if I can help at all! I am happy to do my best to assist!
Is there a best model or feature for fiberglass free-form/curvey with benches, shelves, steps? Great reviews!
Definitely the Dolphin Sigma! With its gyroscope and quad brushes, it allows the Sigma to navigate free-form pools better than other robotic pool cleaners! I highly recommend it! Here is a link to the Dolphin Sigma on Amazon if you need it! - amzn.to/3q56mky
My question between the number 1 and 2 cleaner is who gets stuck more often? I have a double edge infinity and a spa as part of the main pool.
Neither of these should get stuck on your pool! The Sigma also has a free upgrade through Maytronics if you want to upgrade to the spinning brush on the bottom! Also in the rare event they do, you can add a main drain clip to your drain to ensure they get over it every time!
Our pool size 600-700 sqf, in-ground, irregular shape. I am between Sigma and Premier but i have also come across Dolhpin Wave series. What do you think of those for residential pools? is Wave an overkill?
Hi there, The Wave would definitely be overkill. The Sigma/Premier is 100% the way to go for residential pools, as both of these units have the commercial grade motors in them (the Sigma has 3 and the Premier has 2!). You can find the Sigma and Premier on Amazon here:

Thank you so much. Appreciate it.
I have an 18x33 above-ground pool. I am looking for an excellent cleaner but not something that will tear my liner.
Thank you.
If you want the best of the best, go for the Dolphin Premier or Dolphin Sigma. Both of these are safe for above ground vinyl, as well as any other type of pool (these may be overkill in an above ground, but they are fantastic cleaners!).
If you want the best above ground pool, we recommend the Dolphin Escape!
Here are the links for them if you want to check them out!

Hello. I have an older (30yrs) vinyl in ground pool. Probably on the third liner which is showing wear on the corners. Any suggestions for a robotic cleaner that only travels the floor and does not climb the sides?
We would highly recommend the Escape! It will fully cover the floors of your pool great, without wall or waterline cleaning!
My pressure driven Polaris 280 has trouble negotiating the round steps that protrude into the pool. Are any or all of the robots you reviewed able to manage those steps?
I highly recommend making the switch from a pressure side cleaner. Not only are the units more efficient, as they won't need that booster pump, they also clean significantly better! All of these robots I listed can handle navigating around steps! We'd highly recommend the Sigma for any pool, as it has a gyroscope and SmartNav 3.0 to help navigate.
Here is a link to the Sigma: amzn.to/3q56mky
Another option would be the Premier or Quantum as well! Both of these units will also do fantastic!
Dolphin Premier - amzn.to/3i4IcCk
Dolphin Quantum - amzn.to/3COWOPN
Can you leave these in the pool all the time? I presume you have to leave them plugged in with the cord coming out of the pool to the power supply. Then the power supply has to be located near an outlet. Could you please confirm?
Yes, with these units, you can leave them in the pool all the time. The units with a programmable power supply such as the Dolphin Sigma, Dolphin Premier, and Dolphin Quantum can all be left in the pool and scheduled to run every day. From there, the unit can clean your pool every day without you having to start it up every single time!
We have only had outr pool a few weeks and Im torn between the premier and the sigma. I have a sun ledge and some leaves. Does the sigma pick up leaves or just the premier?
if the wifi goes out will the sigma or premier still work? is there a manual option?
They will both pick up leaves great. The Premier does have the extra leaf bag! Without Wi-Fi, both units are still fully operational! The Premier does not utilize Wi-Fi, as everything is programmable right from its power supply, which is actually a perk in my opinion! Both are fantastic units though!

Let me know if there are any questions I can answer for you!
Which ones would work best in sandy conditions? My inline pool robot gets jammed from sand granules and quits moving within minutes
We would highly recommend either the Dolphin Sigma or Dolphin Premier! Both of these have the ultrafine filters included, which will help the unit pick up sand and other fine debris up to "2 microns" according to Dolphin. I've found both of these to work really well with small particles, even picking up stuff I could not see with my eyes!

hi there. I noticed that it looks like the pools that you show being cleaned are tile. What about pool finishs with pebble? Will the scrubbing brushes pull the pebbles off the finish? Also, my pool is 55 ft long. what would you recommend for this size pool

@@ThePoolNerd thanks a bunch
@@ThePoolNerd . one last question. you mentioned the premier or sigma. what are the differences between the two. I know they are both expensive. can you briefly let me know the differences between the two?
Sigma will have the app and gyroscope. The Premier will have the Multi-Media, which has 3 different filter options! Both are great waterline cleaners and have a 3 year warranty. I really loved both of them, as I really think they are Dolphin's 2 best units out there right now!
What is the best pool vac for dealing with the long skinny palm leafs?
You will want the Dolphin Premier as it is the only robot with a leaf bag! Depending on the size of the leaves, it should be able to pick them up! Here is a link to the Premier on Amazon if you need it: amzn.to/3i4IcCk
Let us know if you have any questions!
The leafs can be about 12" long by 3/4" wide. Those damn thing just get wrapped in the gears of my MX8 Elite suction vac.
Which dolphin do you suggest for a 23 ft all concrete pool?
I’d highly recommend the Dolphin Sigma or Premier! Both are two of Dolphin’s best robotic pool cleaners out there! They should be more than capable for your pool!
Have you tried any of the cordless pool cleaners?
Yes, sadly none of them have the power or performance of a corded unit yet! I found it very annoying to have to constantly charge, as it takes almost double the time to charge than it will clean. The battery power just doesn’t seem to be there yet! I was highly disappointed in all of them and wouldn’t recommend.
How does the dolphin premier compare to the dolphin m600?? I can’t find a lot about the m600 and that’s what my local pool store recommends.
The Dolphin Premier is going to be the only unit that can really handle leaves with its Leaf Bag that is included. It also has the other 2 filter options included with it, the Ultra-fine and Standard Cartridge filter. We recommend the Premier for sure over the M600 in our testings. We should have our M600 Review up shortly, but we were really disappointed in its performance, especially compared to how well the Premier performs consistently.
@@ThePoolNerd hi
Which pool cleaners are good for pools with sun ledges?
The best cleaner for a pool with a sun ledge is the Dolphin Sigma. Being equipped with a gyroscope, it is able to navigate ledges and stairs with ease. It is one of Dolphin's most advanced pool robots ever made and it makes a world of a difference when cleaning your pool.
Here is the link to it on Amazon if you want to check it out:
Dolphin Sigma - amzn.to/3q56mky
I noticed you don’t have any Polaris cleaners in your reviews. I have heard some very good things on them, do you experience with them?
We have tried a few and have a few reviews coming! They aren't bad cleaners, but I do prefer the Dolphin's over the Polaris! The Polaris units aren't able to clean as well as the upper Maytronics units, especially at the walls and waterline. This is largely due to its wheels rather than having the tracks like the Dolphin units! Also the Polaris have a shorter warranty with 2 years, compared to Dolphin's 3 year warranty on the Dolphin Premie or Sigma. Combine both of these facts, and I do think that Dolphin is the superior unit in my opinion!
@@ThePoolNerd appreciate the response and feedback. Just earned another subscriber, haha. Keep up the great work, really liking these videos.
Is there a robot that can be programmed to avoid running over drain covers? I have owned a Dophin Sigma since December 2021 and it has been a huge disappointment. First, no matter what I try (suggestions from Maytronics technical support) I cannot get the Sigma to connect to WiFi. I used to be an IT support engineer and know how to connect *everything* to WiFi. Next the Sigma constantly hangs up on both drain covers. It straddles the cover and the drive belt lose contact with the floor. I want a robot that allows me to map the pool and have “avoid” areas. Otherwise I have to go outside fix or six times per cleaning to pull the Sigma off the drain. The drains are NOT suctioning at all.
Hi John,
Luckily, there is an easy solution! While all Dolphins including Sigma, can get stuck on a few certain drain covers, it should be able to go over most drain covers with ease. If your unit does get stuck, there are 2 options for the Sigma:
- Main Drain Clip On. There is a main drain clip that Maytronics recommended to me: www.maindrainclipon.com/
It is pretty handy and easy to install (also cheap!). It should fix the issue for all Dolphin cleaners!
- Maytronics can also add a free extra scrubbing brush on the bottom of the unit under warranty!
Any thoughts on Dolphin Explorer E70?
It’s a good, solid unit, but overpriced compared to the Dolphin Sigma and Dolphin Premier. If I had the choice, I’d save the money and opt for the Sigma and Premier.
You get the same performance in the other two models and the same warranty! The only real addition to it is a few extra pounds and the basket vs a leaf bag or cartridge filters. The lack of climbing rings on the E70 hurt it’s waterline cleaning in my pool (polymer membrane / vinyl).
@@ThePoolNerd but did you feel there were any glaring benefits to the unit over the other models? Thanks 🙏. (I looked to see if you did a review but didn’t find one).
Thoughts on the Quantum vs Triton PS ?
We highly recommend the Quantum over the Triton PS. The Quantum is built on Dolphin's Commercial robotic pool cleaner line and seems to be a lot more powerful in its cleaning ability in our testing. We would highly recommend it!
Here is the link to the Quantum on Amazon: amzn.to/3ISZfnl
@@ThePoolNerd Is the Quantum motor better ?
Yes, the unit showed a lot more power in our testing! Make sure to check out our individual review on it also!
Are these good for pools with liners? If so which is the best for liner pools?
All of these work great for pools with liners! We would recommend the Premier or Sigma (our Top #1 and #2)! Both of these would be great for your pool! Our pick for a pool with a liner would be the Sigma, but the Premier is just as good!
You can find them on Amazon here:

Seems to me, the ability to program these things is a waste of money? If you have to lift them out of the water, what's the use? Can you leave them in the pool for extended periods? We go away for a few weeks at a time in the summer. It sure would be nice to have a robotic cleaner that would start up and put itself in the pool, clean everything, and then put itself away. Does anyone make such a cleaner?
I would love to find a pool vacuum that I could navigate instead.
The Dolphin Sigma & Aquabot Elite Pro can be controlled by your smart phone and the Dolphin Premier can be controlled by the optional remote control! I have an older Dolphin model (similar to Escape). It does a great job, but the cord tangles far too easily into a twisted jumble that prevents it from reaching all the areas of the pool. I’ve got to spend an hour every other day untangling the cord and letting it ‘relax’ in the sun to get the kinks out. The cord makes it a pain to use. I’ve heard even the newer ones with the ‘swivel’ aren’t much better. I wish you’d evaluate that aspect.
The anti-tangle swivel is a great help in my opinion! In some of our in-depth reviews, we do dive into the anti-tangle swivel on all of them. It is a feature often overlooked, but it does really help the cleaner not get tangled after every clean. It is a feature we definitely recommend when looking into a robotic pool cleaner!
