After thorough research and watching a number of UA-cam videos, I decided to purchase a dolphin quantum after my last robot, which was an aquabot finally bit the dust. I use it for the first time today and have to say that I am not impressed. After running this unit in 2 intervals of two hours, each, it only hit one section of the water line once -the rest of the time it struggled to climb walls. Footnote, my pool was extraordinarily clean, as extra precaution I brushed the walls prior to use. It’s simply struggled to climb walls. I have an inground pool. My water chemistry was fine, which I know can impact the performance of a robot. I turned off my pump, and when the quantum went over my main drain, it was stuck there for nearly 10 minutes, no pump running. The unit did not seem to have a tight grip on the floor. It seem to bounce a lot and did not hug the pool. I’m not certain if this is the cream of the cleaning robotic crop. While, I like the anti-tangle swivel, the cord did get caught in the rubber fins. I did like the lightweight, however, compared to my previous robot, the motor was a bit underwhelming. None of the UA-cam videos creators provide specs on the motors. This would be helpful. Again, this is my experience, and I am pretty fastidious about pool maintenance. I have a 30 day return and will pack this up and send it back. Very disappointed particularly at the $1000 price point.
Hello The Pool Nerd, will the Quantum work same as in your review on a abouve ground pool 16x32 classic rectangular Intex pool. If not, what will be your best choice for that kind of pool? Thanks in advance. I love your reviews
Yes, the Quantum works on above ground pools, as well as in-ground! This would be one of the best choices for your pool! Here is a link to the Quantum: amzn.to/3COWOPN If you are on a budget, the Dolphin Escape is Maytronics Flagship Above Ground Cleaner. It won't have all of the features as the Quantum, but if you're on a budget, it is a good alternative. But I would definitely go with the Quantum if I had to choose between the two! Here is my Escape review: ua-cam.com/video/WhQEKzqGNlM/v-deo.html Dolphin Escape on Amazon: amzn.to/36l4OM4
Would this model work well in an above ground pool. Not a soft sided one like Intex, but with the metal siding? I like the waterline feature but concerned about damage to the vinyl liner. Any input would be appreciated.
Hi there, Yes this should work great in your pool! It should not damage the liner at all. Here is the link to the Quantum on Amazon: amzn.to/3COWOPN If you want a nearly identical robot without waterline scrubbing, but still wall climbing, check out the Dolphin Cayman (we have a review also). Here is the link for the Cayman on Amazon: amzn.to/3KDgCrW Let us know if you have any questions and we can help further!
I would like your feedback on permanently leaving your robotic cleaner in the pool during the season. For years, I’ve always taken it out after use. However, as these become more programmable, I am wondering if there is any additional wear and tear or harmed by keeping your robot submerged in the pool . Also, pouring chemicals into the pool, do these chemicals have any impact on the electronic components of the robotic cleaner?
I usually use it once or twice a week! It does a great job clearing up any cloudy water, especially during springtime! Sometimes I’ll keep it in the robot for weeks at a time. It really just depends on the season and how my pool is looking! It captures everything the fine filter basket can that’s included, but it does take an extra minute or two to clean!
My inground pool in full sun, no leaf problems. once it gets really hot out i have algae issue every year. So, I'm looking for something for algae / sand would the Cayman be okay or should i be going up to the quantum.
Both are great options, I would always recommend the upgrade as the Quantum is on another level as it is apart of the Dolphin ProLine! With the Quantum's NanoFilter and Waterline Cleaning, you great better cleaning performance. The Cayman is a great value, but in terms of cleaning performance, the Quantum is a league above.
Will this item work well on a fully mosaic tiled pool? I see the test is on a tiled pool, but my tiles are very slippery and not sure if this machine does well gripping walls and water line with slippery tiles. Thanks.
Yes, the Quantum is able to work on tile as well! It works on all types of pools including tile! With its tracks, it gives it a ton of grip on tile. This is one of my favorite cleaners I have tested and it does not disappoint!
The Quantum will be in a league above the DX4. With its PowerJet 3D Mobility, Waterline Cleaning, 2 year warranty, and the upgraded SmartNav 2.0, it will give a deeper and better clean than the DX4 we found in our testing. We would highly recommend the Quantum over the DX4 for sure! Make sure to check out the Quantum and DX4 here: Quantum: amzn.to/3COWOPN DX4: amzn.to/3fbSp1s
Are your walls slippery -If so, try brushing your walls down first. If it’s still does not climb walls, contact the manufacturer as it has a warranty. Sometimes it takes a few days to map your pool. I just purchased this model and will receive it in a few days. I purchased it specifically to climb walls in for the waterline feature.

Why does Dolphin have sooo many different names for their cleaners, makes it almost impossible to make a well informed decision on a purchase
I don't see the comparison chart on your website

Can you set it so it just does the bottom of pool. Pool floor? Not the sides water line ?
@ThePoolNerd dies the Quantum have fast mode where only cleans bottom? I see it on Power supply but doesn't light up?
Would you recommend this over a Nautalis CC Pro? About 15k gallon pool, no trees in backyard but two dogs and two children that kick stuff around.

How often do you do a deep cleaning with the fine filter?
I usually use it once or twice a week! It does a great job clearing up any cloudy water, especially during springtime! Sometimes I’ll keep it in the robot for weeks at a time. It really just depends on the season and how my pool is looking!
It captures everything the fine filter basket can that’s included, but it does take an extra minute or two to clean!
Do the ultra fine/nano filters put additional pressure/wear on the impeller motor

Is the Quantum sold in two versions, one with the anti-tangle swivel feature, while the other one without? Thanks.
Every Dolphin Quantum will have the anti-tangle swivel! It used to not have it, but it was upgraded and added to the Dolphin Quantum!
Why don't the last 2 buttons on the power supply do anything?
They just don’t. Found that out after buying it. The last two buttons/controls are functional only in more expensive robots.
Does it clean the stairs?

Is it a better option than the dolphin premiere for a concrete 20-40 in ground pool
No, the best would be the Dolphin Premier for your pool! The Quantum is a great choice as well, but the Premier slightly tops it!
@@ThePoolNerd Great!! After weeks of digging through reviews, we finally ordered the premiere last night- Thanks for the help!!!
Glad we could help! Great choice!
Can I use the Dolphin Quantum on an inground liner pool
The Quantum works great on an inground liner pool!
Thank you So Much!!🙏
I bought this last week and it cleaned the bottom of the pool great but it want climb the walls. Any solution?

What about the weight of these Dolphins?---I need something lite weight with a good waterline and wall feature
They’re around 15lbs, but fairly easy to handle! The Quantum would be the choice for waterline and wall climbing, while still being lightweight!
Will it climb a vinyl lined pool wall? My m400 will not climb wall. Thanks.
Yes, it is rated for vinyl, gunite, concrete, and all other types of pools!
Is this better than the Dolphin Triton PS Robotic Pool Cleaner?
Yes, this is the upgraded Triton and is better than the Triton PS in our testing! We highly recommend the Dolphin Quantum!
