I printed that same 7 round cylinder you did on my school's $30,000 resin printer, and after sanding it and removing all of the disolvable support material, it was a very very nice fit and hit hard, and I gave it to Crpl. Armor as a gift. I also just printed 8 round cylinders over spring break on my schools normal printers and I will be printing the rotation mechs in ABS+ I'll let you know how well they perform once spring break is over on Monday.
There becomes a point where the seal is insufficient and any extra air pressure is negated and leaks. That is why you can have a heavier spring load and a weaker blaster
Intriguing how different the designs can be, which each host a multitude of other problems. I do like the group effort of working toward a mod to a great stock blaster days after it comes out, I'm appreciative of how minds like yours cooperate to improve upon things like this. Thank you, Captain.
loved the video. i actually just got the 8kg spring for my sweet revenge and am loving it. as most of my blasters are stock or slightly super stock its so fun to see a dart rocket across the room like that
I just found something interesting. The plastic end "washer" from a standard roll of sewing thread fits inside the Hammershot handle right snug against the original spring's stopper. Perfect inside diameter and it has a collared inside hole. I added about 3/4 of a Delta Trooper spring over top of the stock spring and trimmed the plastic washer down to stop it catching on the screw posts inside as it compresses. No issues and it seems pretty strong. It was tired and second hand before, Australian version too, now feels mid 70fps+
I have the OMW 8kg and a 10kg from a local China modder. The 8kg actually feels like it performs better but I have yet to chrono them as my chrono just arrived yesterday. I will do some tests with them with both OMW 6 shots metal barrel and Gavin's 8 shots which is due to arrive over the weekend.
Have had the flu so haven’t watched like anything on UA-cam for a week so I can watch everything you and Walcom post. Love that the docter wrote me a week notice
That's kind of disappointing that the anti-bounce springs didn't work out. I guess it's just all the tuning that I've put into my blaster that got it over 100fps. As soon as my 17/32 drill bit gets here I'm going to try doing another from stock with brassed cylinders . Hoping I can improve on that performance.
Stupid idea, you can cut down the spring from the Wipeout blaster. I believe its higher then 10 kg. warning, your Hammershot may break without upgrades..... further testing needed. :)
Hey cap! Have you seen the break over hammershot build? I can link the vid if you want to see it but I'd love to get my hands on a pair of them if you think you'd be able to mimic them in some way.
I’m going to be building a mega cylinder hammer shot. And either an ultra six round or a orange mod works kit. Though I’m definitely thinking of the ultra kit and the mega kit both with metal hammer shot triggers and hammers. Captain do you have any thoughts on which I should go with?
@@CaptainXavier thank you for the reply. I appreciate you taking the time to answer my question. I have heard many good things about the Orange Mod Works kit and had one in my hand once.
I have like lost track of how many "extra dart" cylinders there are for the hammershot, I mean first it was a big deal that Orange mod works made one with 6, effectively making Strongarm fanboys everywhere cry, then that was IMMEDIATELY made obsolete by someone making a 7 shot cylinder, and then I'm pretty sure there was an 8 dart cylinder, and I'm sure somewhere some guy like mashed it up with a dartzone Magnum while we're at it.
Dear captain, I hope you are finding yourself in good health and good weather. I was wondering how big of spring upgrade can Stamepede can take with worker metal gears. Sincerely, SoCal Aux member Jay (aka EyePro Police)
I don't actually know exactly. I can't recall hearing of anyone going past 9kg but someone probably has. The limiting factor at that point would be the motor.
Dang! I wish I had seen this before ordering a 5kg spring from NFstrike this morning. This is making me think the 5 will hardly be an improvement. Oh well, live and learn, at least it was cheap :) Great vid, thanks dude!
Just sharing my opinion and experience . Modders should really move away from lithium grease in the piston systems of blasters . It's great for gears and slides but , it dries out over time . After a few months , lithium grease can significantly reduce the velocity of a piston system . As long as you're using rubber o-rings ; high viscosity Super Lube with ptfe works great . I have a couple of brass breach Longshots with 9 kg Worker spring kits that I haven't serviced in two years . They deliver 190 - 210 with full length FVJ darts .

Hi man good video I was wondering if anyone can help me I own a hammerstorm (8 cylinder alpha strike line hammershot) for some reason does not prime well It half primes instead of full primes meaning that the priming hammer after pulling it all the way the hammer rests at the middle and not the end making the dart just pop out of the blaster. So i was wondering what could I do to fix it and how the catch mechanism works and why it goes half way
Not a problem, Sir. I like tinkering with Hammershots, and other hammer action blasters myself. I had actually made a note of it, and also spoke with you about the Hillman #62 some months ago. Thank you for the videos, information, and data.
My hammer shot has a 7 shot cylinder I printed off thingiverse Ima make a drainblaster shotgun with the old cylinder. Thanks for all the wonderful videos!
Ive added 8 and 10k springs to mine. Takes the performance from 'disappointing' to 'OK' (8 k for my left hand) Could you brass the printed barrels or is the spacing too tight?
@@CaptainXavier Where would you get a spring like that. Also would a higher resolution on the print for the rotation peg help too? You mentioned something
With enough epoxy, anything is possible. But it would require a lot of shell cutting. Also, it would not work. Stockade/barricade cylinders are just designed to hold darts so they can be pushed into flywheels. They are not designed to work with a plunger system. They don't seal well enough.
Define "not working." It doesn't catch? It doesn't release? It doesn't return? I would start by watching my fairly resent video on the complete disassembly and reassembly of the Hammershot.
Is it an upgrade cylinder or a stock one? If it is stock then check the rotation mech and make sure it is not misaligned. If it is upgraded first make sure it is not rubbing on the shell and then check the mech.
No. The pressure is created by the priming of the spring, so it doesn’t have enough energy to reprime it. If you used an electric air compressor you could probably do something like that but you’d be better suited with a stampede style system (or a full on electric flywheel system).
Hey, I'm looking for a stampede for an integration, but I can't find one at goodwill for a good price. If you have an extra stampede laying around, or the next goodwill run you do, could you get that to me

Noice. I suspect it was the combo of all you mods on a stock cylinder that did the trick.
I put two stock springs in mine, after I modded one for my buddy, and with the gavin fuzzy 8 rounder it gets 84 foot ranges when tested.
Nice!
I'm not a modder, but the hammershot that I bought shoots like 30-40 fps, so I really dont have a choice but to upgrade it.
Fortunately replacing the spring is one of the easiest mods ever.

Ive added 8 and 10k springs to mine. Takes the performance from 'disappointing' to 'OK' (8 k for my left hand)

Way too tight. You would be better off just going with the skeletonized brass barrel holders.
@@CaptainXavier suspected that would be the case.

With the 3d printed cylinders, the issue I have had as been them not rotating properly and not lining up with the plunger tube.

Question, why do people use brass barrels when nylon has a lower friction against darts?
Do you have a source for nylon tubing with the same dimensions as brass pipe?
@@CaptainXavier you can get same internal diameter, but not the same outer diameter, so the barrel will be slightly thicker than brass
