- Welcome back! This is the next step in my 4.3L Chevy V6 engine build series. In this episode, I assemble the short block after cleaning all of the block, crank, rods, and pistons. I go over how I check bearing clearance, check piston ring end gap, and install the internal components. Thanks for following along. This is Bad Hombre Garage, Episode 131.

Thanks for finding my channel! This is a follow-along series while I work on projects, though some may consider it a rat rod build or hot rod build series. There's plenty of how-to, though I'm not an expert! Watch and you tell me!
I'm just one dude in a two-car garage building hot rods and living the American Dream! Follow along- Let's build this community!

Joe, man you are a natural behind the camera. You explain things well. I wish I would have hung out with you guys more as a kid and learn all this good stuff from your dad. However, now i just get to watch you do it on youtube. Haha.
Ha, well thanks. It’s a lot of trial and error, and sometimes editing out when I goof something up and look like an idiot!
Very cool.
Will be a great engine for the Jeep. And thanks for making video and keeping us updated. 👍👍👍
Thanks for watching!
Hey nice video, not to nit pick but your oil clearance is 2 (two) thousandths not 20, and when you said 15 (fifteen) that’s one and a half thousandths or 15 ten thousandths not 15 thousandths. I’m sure most out there know that there’s a big difference between 2 and 20 thousandths.
You are correct! Thanks for watching and please always feel free to comment- especially if I mess up! The measurements are good, but yes I did mis-speak.
Nicely narrated
Thank you kindly!
Awesome video Joe,nice job on assembling the bottom end, looking forward to the next video 😀😀
Thanks Mike! I need to get this project done so hopefully more videos on it soon.
@@BadHombreGarage awesome 👏
V6?. Love it😂
Thanks! Yep, they don’t all have to be high horsepower hot rod engines.
Are you using a carburetor or TBI? I recently did a 4.3 v6 rebuilt and yeah is a 350 with 2 cylinders cut off, anyway I decided to use Holley 670cfm tbi. Installation with the linkage was tricky, but overall very reliable and bolted right up with the Edelbrock intake that I have. 4.3 v6 if rebuilt right can do some serious burnouts.. good video man.
Nice! Good to hear from someone who’s done this before. I plan to use the stock TBI setup on this 4.3. I will be running it in my old Jeep, so I bought a wire harness that should make hooking it all up easy. Thanks for watching!
What year is this motor? I'm thinking of rebuilding my 92 astro 4.3.
It’s out of a ‘92 S-10.
@BadHombreGarage Sick! So this is the most relevant video for me then. Thank you!
Can you give us the name of the book or a link to where you bought it?
You bet. I ordered it off Amazon, the link is:
Small-Block Chevrolet: Stock and High-Performance Rebuilds (Workbench How-to) a.co/d/4UYGL2l
Or just search Amazon for “how to rebuild a small block Chevy” and there will be a few good options.
Dude if you have 20 - 30 thousandths oil clearance you got MAJOR problems!
You are correct! I meant to say ten thousandths.
@@BadHombreGarage .002-.0035 is two to three and a half thousands. Nice work
@@patrickhickman8723 yep, I messed up in the video. Thanks for watching.
