The Obi-Wan Kenobi Show is announced and there is huge hype amongst Star Wars Fans. It seems like Disney has a safe game with this show as there seems to be no way that Ewan McGregor wont shine in resprising his iconic role as Obi-Wan Kenobi in the Kenobi Show. But is it really a safe Game? Is the hype maybe unreasonable? This Video deals with problematic similarities between the Solo Spin Off Movie Solo: A Star Wars Story and the production of the Kenobi Show, the influence of Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau on the Future of Star Wars as well as with Costume Problems such as the weird looking live action Grand Inquisitor compared to live action Cad Bane and live action Ahsokas head.

Wow. This point of view is very interesting; I never would have thought to connect the production struggles of Solo compared to its ratings to the similar production struggles of Kenobi to its possible future bad ratings. But, it's Disney, so you never really know, since Rogue One turned out pretty well. Still, I hope they fix that egghead inquisitor.
I consider Rogue One probably the best of the new movies and they had serious problems behind the scenes...
Now that you say it, there are also parallels to Rogue One... but i am certain they will somehow manage that. I also dont say that productionstruggles directly and inevitably lead to bad ratings... but struggles are never good so i hope they learned from them...
Still have no clue why Solo got bad ratings. It's a damn fun movie.

I must say, the Cad Bane wasn't that bad for me but the Inquisitor is really bad (at least keep the yellow eyes)? I am really interested how they will solve this, if they change it, have any story explanation..
I would love it if the inquisitor fell farther to the dark side throughout the series and got the yellow eyes, that would fix the inquisitor for me since I don’t mind the head shape as much as other people

@@gerryendersen4718 Thing is his species actually have long heads, it was depicted correctly in the rebels and we can see the real life version from the prequels as well. Try googling Pau'an species.
I remember when i watched rebels i was upset and thought they are making fun of the show when they make a human with such a long head... then i googled he is a Pau'an :D
For the eyes they might turn yellow later in the show and he becomes more gaunt, for the head it’s a little hard to fight with a big head. It might be a maturity thing, as pau’an get older their heads get bigger
I'm sorry to say, I feel there's _every_ chance they can mess this up - I would dearly love to be proven wrong but, based on what we've had from Disney up til now, I just feel this general direction they're going in these days with the live action filoniverse with the Marvel like humor & staging, is giving us a kind of watered down Star Wars & all the while _still_ ultimately setting up the story laid out in those bloody sequel films.
I'm going to predict it'll be a 5 out of 10, great in some _moments_ but ultimately, meh.
They can’t abandon their sequels. I don’t know why fans thought they would. And yeah I completely agree that the show can ruin the character. But it’s going to happen and rabid fans will defend anything that’s why they have the term “fanatic” associated with them
I can only hope that it's at least better than the monstrosity that BoBF turned out to be

I agree, I’m not sure an Obi-Wan Kenobi show is going to be what we expect. It might ruin a few things that we like about Obi-Wan and that’s upsetting to think about.
Some parts of me will probably have problems with it but overall i hope it will be a nice show... and thats all that matters

Possibly the most concerning thing that wasn’t mentioned in this video is that the main writer, Joby Harold, doesn’t have very good writing credits. He’s written 3 movies so far: Army of the Dead, King Arthur: Legend of the Sword, and Awake; all of which received mixed/negative reviews. I haven’t seen any of them, but I sorta want to so I can gauge my expectations for Kenobi based on them.
I would love to hear a video about how star wars has changed, especially with Filoni because I am so confused by the storys like George Lucas had the Clone Wars idea back then but how much it influced etc
Probably a good call... how star wars Canon Ideas changed and how the old EU is implemented into the new Canon
I am fine with Cad Bane but definetly not with the alien inquisitors. They all look odd.
I think it's just cause of the animation of Rebels clashing with live-action

honestly the only design element ive been disappointed with thus far with the disney shows has been the Inquisitors look in that trailer. with Ahsoka and Cad Bane i wasnt too bothered; with Ahsoka specifically i just assumed it was a matter of convenience for the actress to not have the Lekku be as long :D i do hope that the Inquisitor doesnt end up looking as goofy as in the trailer,,, regardless i wish people will approach the Kenobi show with an open mind, its much more fun that way for the entire community.

Literally the only reason I'm watching the show is to see Anakin and Obi-Wan in a live action TCW flashback with their armor and a young Ahsoka (as well as seeing the return of Hayden's Vader and a possible glimpse at animated Grievous irl). I'm a firm believer that star wars as a franchise has been creatively bankrupt since TCW's cancellation in 2013. Granted, there have been small moments of brilliance in things like Rogue One and the Mandalorian but they do not compensate for Disney's major shortcomings. Everything is obnoxious nostalgia being crammed down our throats and feels even more corporate. The shills who like the amount of all this content over its quality only fan the flames and encourage Disney to peddle out more trash. The colors are just so washed out in everything live action now that I literally get migraines from sitting through it. Idek man, I'm done with star wars (and marvel for that matter). I'm ok with just sticking to everything prior to 2013 tbh.

We could be actually enjoying ourselves and like things like both episodes 7 and 9 and Rebels because we're having fun? And maybe we should question the judgement of someone who believes Star Wars hasn't been good in a decade, yet still follows the franchise's every move and screams his opinions at the top of his lungs at every last opportunity at the people who are just watching some damn movies and tv shows, or as he refers to them, "Shills."
Maybe people actually are enjoying themselves, and instead of excepting that you can't and moving on, this franchise is what you have instead of a hobby so if you can't be happy, no one can.
Maybe, just maybe, Star Wars is doing just fine without you, and YOU are the one who has been stagnating since 2013.

Well, I understand both POVs here. I would not say Star Wars is "creativly dead" but I also think that they have an above average reliance on obnoxious nostalgia. On the other hand, when the prequels and TCW came out, everybody hated on them for trying something new so its a thin path Disney has to walk here in between those two arguments
@@TheRogueOneYT I guess that makes sense but I think the prequels have aged pretty well now that the kids that first watched them understand the story. Just questionable directing. The sequels and most of the Disney shows are super forgettable and are just riding on the original six film’s legacy at this point while also trying to shove in woke garbage which make them worse
@@TheRogueOneYT and also, the prequels were still successful at launch.. and they didn’t get any more hate than the sequels did, proving that disney DOES have the choice to try something new but for whatever reason they don’t.
Live Action Cad Bane is understandable because it’s just not possible to get a face to look like that with prosthetics and makeup, but there’s no reason why the Grand Inquisitor needs to look how he looks, he looks terrible.
There are already Duros in A New Hope which was released in 1977... with all the hundreds of creatures they made for the new films, cant tell me that wouldnt have worked in some way... i guess its more the product of less time and money... and probably also no plan of what the show will be about
@@TheRogueOneYT yes Duros existed, but you have to account for the space required to fit his facial prosthetics that are unique to Bane. I dont think budget was a problem, but I definitely agree that they didn’t plan out Boba Fett tho 😂

The dialogues are gonna be great (much better than the prequels...even if they come close to clone wars...I am going to be happy)

Ashoka head piece was remade later in filming for mandalorian as it was previously too big and it was hard to move in it for fight ceography so Rosario wanted it smaller for more accessibility
As soon as I saw it wasn't Filoni or Faverau directing i got red flags, Star Wars TV shows are 1-1 right now, Mandalorian was awesome while book of Boba Fett was a bit of a dud

i suppose the thing with the costumes is that its very difficult to change a human face to make it bigger or longer or whatever the issue is while still ensuring the actors can do cool things in costume
like when you look at the live-action versions of the grand inquisitors species or asokahs s[ecies they don't do anything impressive, maybe it's very hard to organise an action scene when someone has these costumes on do they just decided to forgo them
Exactly, but i also see there are enough very high quality live action examples in modern cinema where humans make impressive performances in different shapes. Motion capture could also have been a good alternative to this... or to change/adapt them in post production with CGI
It was much more in keeping with the lore and power of both the Jedi and The Empire where it is just Vader hunting down the Jedi Knights. Rather than multiple Force users which spoils the notion of just two Sith and the special nature of being a Jedi. Anyone part of the Empire hunting the Jedi should surely be just elite Imperial Commandos using blasters. And pretty sure we should still be having Clone Stormtroopers and older Imperial armour than this suddenly having the aesthetics of Episode IV! The real lore is George Lucas' vision and maybe novels which stuck to that (e.g. Labyrinth of Evil or Rise of Darth Vader). Not Disneys gimmicky Inquisitors or blatantly violating the story of Episodes 3 and 4! There are much better ways to have stories with Obi Wan in - by setting them prior to Episode 3. Obi Wan and Vader shouldn't meet till Episode 4. Any Jedi hunting should revolve around other Jedi and keep cartoony Inquisitors away from live action and stick with elite troopers instead without lightsabers.
Clone Stormtroopers would be a very nice appearance and also i would appreciate if they bring Purge Troopers to live action
About the clone wars obi wan to live action obi wan thing. In the german synchronization they have the same voice actor so at least for german speaking viewers the obi-wan of the Kenobi series will definitely have the subconscious „clone wars“ vibe because of that. You sound german, so i think you get what i mean by that :)

Well i mean, as much as went wrong with star wars under her lead, as much went right. I am also often a little inveigled to push all the blame on Kennedy but I think she is a great women and also the reason why we get so much new Star Wars content... so even though they want to make money, i can understand both sides
see the thing with Solo. it only failed in the box office cos people boycotted it cos of the backlash from the last jedi. the film was actually really good.
I also think it would have had a better reception if it would have been released at christmas as the other movies. I remember I was pretty surprised seeing it was released so early... Also they would have had more time to make improvements and the boycott from TLJ would have worn off a little more...

@@TheRogueOneYT tbh i feel like he should not have even been in it. They just had him in the bad batch last year (which I liked) but now it just feels like heavy nostalgia bate. His appearance didn't have the same effect on me as it did in the Bad Batch.

On the Cad Bane issue: I think the visuals were fine and the voice acting was spot on. That being said, Cad Bane is supposed to be a very smart man who knows his limits. He was in his prime during the clone wars, so now he would rely more on cunning than his physical prowess. The blue bounty hunter I know and love would never have let himself get into a duel at high noon that he didn't know he could win. Cad Bane fights dirty and uses a strange mix of rocket boots, blasters, and melee attacks that can throw off even a jedi. If he had to die at the hand of Boba, at least let him put up a great fight along the way.
I think the acting, visuals, and music will all be great. The script writing... not so much. I am still cautiously optimistic, but I don't have a lot of hope.

The deification of him from Fans and especially in Fan Fiction kinda ruined Obi-Wan for me.
There are so many Time travel, fix it Fan Fics that just Center around him, Especially with Mandalore, and they are starting to annoy me. Especially the ones where he knows EVERYTHING about Mandalorian Culture.
Yeah the deification is the key point here... he still is an actor and we well see how that works out....
