Nice road trip with the family in your Tesla. They have amazing technology and were smart to go with superchargers instead of level 2. Saw an Instagram video where a Tesla stopped short by itself going through a green light to avoid being t boned by a car speeding through a red light. Saved the drivers life. Love those little unusual places like that hot dog stand.
Thanks John. It was a fun trip and learned a lot about electric cars and Teslas. Definitely ahead of everyone else for now. The competition is catching up though but the charging network is unmatched. Going to FL so look forward to another trip.
Good video man! That red is beautiful! I would love to get this color! Can’t wait for my Tesla to arrive! I’m going basic. Base model….White, white rims, black interior. Can’t wait!!!!
Nice video. Next month I’ll be making the San Antonio to Georgia trip and planned to stop along the same stops you did. This video helps a lot. Thanks.
Nice video so far. If you want to see on the route how long you need to stay at the next charger while driving, scroll down on the turns list and it will give you that info. Also what % you will arrive with. Edit- the thicker cables only give 150kw of power at best. The thinner ones can give the car 250kw charge. Which obviously is much faster. Lol. Always try to find and go to the V3 superchargers that are 250kw. Could save you tons of time charging. Also you will learn as you take trips with the car but you can usually leave faster than the car says when it's great weather like you had.
I appreciate the tip and searching for teh V3 chargers did save me a lot of time but man do the charges go up with the V3 chargers if you want to charge a bit more than 80%
@@RideAboutNow yea they can add up on price pretty quickly. But EVs really are for charging at home majority of the time. I hope in the future solar, wind, hydro, ect, help offset some of the pricing during on peak hours. Also if you don't absolutely have to charge passed 80%, don't waste the time. I hope you're enjoying the car still!
Cool road trip. I think taking a Tesla and stopping along to charge along the way takes more time but is more relaxing. Good to hear your thoughts on the model 3 performance suspension. I think the car is very aerodynamic which helps with the good range. Enjoyed watching this and subscribing for more content!
I just picked up a 2021 Model 3 performance, coming from a 2018 LR RWD, and I agree, the suspension is way softer than even my old non performance 3. Way more comfortable for a long trip, plus the seats are more comfortable (my old car had the Gen 1 seats which were okay but not as comfy as the new ones).
Nice! Next time you plan a road trip, book your hotel in advance and find one that offers charging. Could’ve saved yourself a stop and the supercharger fee.
@@lsglass I usually use KAYAK, Expedia, etc. online. One of the search criteria (sometimes you have to do an “advanced” search) is EV charging. Most of the time places that don’t specifically have an EV charger will still allow you to use an outlet. When I stay in a motel I can usually park right outside my room and run an extension cord in from the car into an outlet. This is usually not enough to regain all the charge overnight but it helps. Downtown hotels in large cities usually charge a lot for parking. $30-$50 a night, but if they have EV charging it’s a great advantage. When stopping for lunch you can also search for places that have destination chargers. I found a winery in Paso Robles that had a level two charger. Stayed an hour and a half for lunch, got 60 free miles of energy. Again probably paid more for lunch than I would have if I stopped at McDonald’s so…
Yup you can just drive it like a normal car. No need to engage auto pilot and all the drivers lane change etc aides.can be turned off for normal cruise control.
Fantastic video. I stay in Atlanta and recently ordered a M3P so this video really resonated with me and reassured me about going on a road trip with mine. I agree about what you said regarding the autopilot. It's very helpful and relaxing. You just have to avoid lanes that expand into an exit because it acts funky. A couple of things. I can't remember the name of the city but somewhere in Mississippi, you got to a supercharger with only 6% battery life remaining. Wasn't that cutting it too close? Also, you made a mistake at 2:54. According to Tesla, you shouldn't press on the Tesla logo. It can damage the frunk locking mechanism. What you want to do is press on both sides of the Tesla logo with both hands without touching the logo and push down to lock it. Amazing video though and thanks a lot for recording your trip. I'm sure it wasn't easy to record and edit it.
Thanks for watching. Thus is my first electric car and honestly I didn't feel range anxiety at all. They say that when your battery is in the single digits the charge is faster. I plan about 5 to 10 percent more than arrival guesstimate so if I'm driving faster speeds I have that buffer. I changed that habit on closing the frunk pretty quickly during the trip and started closing it in the manner you mentioned. Good luck on your delivery and hope you have a great adventure of your own soon.
@@justrandomthings319 I have been down to 1% and it's pretty slow full throttle but still driveable. 10% you are still keeping up majority of the cars on the road today. It really isn't a problem.
@@RideAboutNow I never brought it up to them. didn’t seem worth it driving to the service center but I might as I am having other issues with the car that needs to get fixed. The quality of these cars are not as good as I would want for the money but its still a really good car.

@@RideAboutNow What's the acceleration like around the 10% mark? What did the 0 to 60 feel like below 30%?

How comfortable is the Model 3 on long rides?
The performance model I have is surprisingly comfy with the big wheels and the 35 profile tires. The LR and the SR should be even more comfortable.
