  • This video is about one of the first viewer submissions I ever recieved. I made a video about it in 2017, in my pre-illustrator days, but I've always wanted revisit it. This video is new audio and illustration, only the events are the same. It's one of my favorite bigfoot encounters of all time.
    This episode is illustrated by a fan of the channel named Adrian Flores, while Fred finishes up a gigantic project that I think you will all really like, and potentially, has been uploaded by the time you're reading this. :)
    Thank you.

    The stylization choices of the artist here and the fact they drew the witness as thought he were talking to you in real life, at the age he was when these things were taking place, was extremely cool. The transitional pic of him at an older and younger age with the same confident surety, and event he fact his hairstyle was different in incidents where years had passed, was all just so well-done and well thought-out. I might be new here, but you certainly don't have to worry about people becoming discontent at your other artist taking his time if *THIS* is the quality we can expect in the meantime.

  • @Ghost_Os

    Maybe the snakes were simply a message of caution ("lots of these around"). Particularly if there were young in the area, which could also potentially speak to the presumed dispatching of the alligator. The rock could have been as simple as "go away", or as nuanced as, "I saw what you did with my snake sign, and I didn't like it. I recognize you. Go away."
    Taking nothing away from Fred, but Adrian is one heck of an artist as well!

      Although I agree in theory with everything you stated, Humans in the know do not mess around with cotton mouths. I've spent a lot of time in the pine forests and swamps of SC. I've killed my fair share of cotton mouths. After you kill them you behead them and bury their heads because they can and will bite you for many hours after they're dead. Very dangerous. But something non-human? Maybe. The gator and rock, I could see a human doing those.

      In the US there are two species of birds that do that; the Northern and Loggerhead shrike. Both are songbirds but are carnivores and will kill and eat insects, lizards, mice, snakes, other birds and any other small animals it can catch. The prey is stuck on thorns of certain trees like honey locust or barbed wire fence. It is called a larder and the birds will come back to feed on their stored food. There are shrikes in Europe and Asia as well.

    I've been wondering how bigfoot might perceive us, if anything at all. I like to imagine that more isolated communities view the concept of us existing like how most people do for bigfoot existing. Something like, "How could these slow and hairless dwarves rule the world without us noticing? If they can really create towers as tall as mountains, wouldn't we see them everywhere by now?"

    I've had some pretty strange experiences in the wilderness and on the water in my canoe. I think a canoe with no noise from an engine and the sound of the river covering any sound of paddling especially when you are moving down stream can be a good way to accidentally sneak up on one of these guys. I had just drifted into a backwater that surrounded a large tree covered island when all hell broke loose on the island. It sounded like a dump truck going 40mph and breaking every tree in it's path combined with a deep heavy breathing that bordered on a snort or a growling occasionally. It was obviously moving away from us and around the bend in the water then it exploded loudly and violently across the river and into the woods across the backwater. My friend and I were dumbstruck and honestly I was a little spooked. We just stared at each other and the direction the noise was headed. I think we were too quiet and moving down stream little to no paddling just steering a bit, and wind always blows against the water flow in a river so we had accidentally gotten way too close to this creature without his knowledge and spooked him. I'm grateful that flight won the fight or flight instinct because I never saw this critter but just based on the noise he had to be huge.

Yet we're so certain we know everything there is to know about everything on the surface. There's a fantastic video in a channel i stumbled across. The channel is called "Bad pioneer" , the channel is russian. Every video in it is normal stuff, all but this one video. This guy is an experienced hunter and goes deep in the taiga. He got a tip from another hunter about this place being "bad" He basically gets woken up to sounds in the forest at night, gets stalked, then he runs away, climbs up a fallen tree that fell against an upright tree and takes a defensive position. Whatever is was advancing on him and he fired his rifle several times until "they" stopped coming. Absolutely crazy video. If you're interested, i'll send back a link and time stamp when the action starts. The video is hard to find in his channel as it's buried bc it's old. We both were weirdly drawn to cats and vice versa; years before knowing we were Tigers, they were my favorite big cat. So: back to FYI "How High?" A female Siberian once ascended a tree to a height of over 20 feet in two leaps, and was level with the open door of a hovering helicopter tracking her cub -- they pulled up seconds before she was about to come through the door. (safely landed in a snow bank, and beautiful photo btw). Tigers and cryptids, you can feel something that lives inside your curiosity and ties you to the earth. The man that experienced those events reacts in a way that was unexpected by me, how casual and yet curious he was. Ig I’m saying I would expect someone to care too much and put their all into finding out the mystery or not even give it a second thought and move on. Feel like his reaction was the perfect, most healthy way to deal with that situation. Refreshing to see some grey in a “field” that has so many ppl on one side or the other. Making a concerted effort to leave timely comments when I have any. I sincerely appreciate this reboot, as I earmarked it as one of the most compelling (and chilling) witness experiences that you shared. I hope I speak for many others when I say I wish you would leave your old videos up, but naturally support your decision over your own content either way :)
    I can’t say what I would feel in person to witness this, but my gut reaction from hearing this is that the snakes were a “stop sign” of sorts to anyone (without prejudice). Here’s why:
    My grandparents owned land in northwestern Illinois that spanned many bluffs above the Mississippi and lead mines. The land is almost entirely forest save the sharp bluffs. We used tortoiseshells mounted on sticks and occasionally adorned with feathers to mark territorial boundaries. We ALSO used regular signage discouraging trespassers, but for whatever reason the shells stayed too. They were maintained through seasons. It never occurred to me that might be unusual until… honestly right now. I guess I presumed it was a fascination my grandfather had with local, historical native practices, but I have no evidence of that. I regret not asking him about it before he died.
    It reminds me of the snakes and vice versa 🤷🏼‍♀️ thanks for doing what you do, as always.

    • @Jim-Mc
      @Jim-Mc 2 роки тому +3

      @@jackalope2302 Well, I think there are signs it was originally written as a piece of fiction and then superficially altered to sound like a true story. There are snatches of detailed dialogue like: His wife asked "what the hell is that?" Jon answered truthfully "That's Tim's cowman." Since the story is supposed to be told by Jon's boss as told to him by Jon, I'm not sure why a secondhand recollection would have actual novel style dislogue, let alone adverbs setting it off. The writer also adds lots of flourishes like: "it was as quiet as the inside of a mausoleum at night." Why do this in an eyewitness account? Also, he adds details of the scene in an omniscient and suspenseful way, like an author. Like, about the character Patrick he says: "he cautiously walked closer..." In recounting a traumatic event, my experience is that people don't do it like this. Sure it's possible that it's true and the writer just gave it a personal flair. But I think it was originally written as a piece of fiction and then superficially altered to be an 'account' of true events.

    I listen to these stories for 2 reasons, first and foremost they're incredibly well crafted stories that describe fantastical events while remaining grounded in clarity and even if pure fantasy it's a world well enough constructed as to leave it in the realms of possibility. Secondly I have no doubt that there are things in this world that either remain obscured, concealed or just escape explaination for now. To evaluate new information well sometimes you have to let your mind explore far and wide without judgement and sometimes you have to reel the mind in with a healthy dose of scepticism and strict critical evaluation. I'm not going to critique any little nagging questions I have regarding this story(I was going to ask some questions), instead I've decided to encourage you and express my immense enjoyment of what you do. Even the artwork is both helpful for evaluation but also ads a graphic novel type layer of added entertainment. Cool.👍

    Bob, I love the idea of you remaking all of your old videos - both of your illustrators are fantastic! I had a thought about the snakes, though... what if this was just a means of 'food storage?' As the witness mentioned, one of the snakes was still alive. Anyone who has ever had to kill a rattlesnake, for instance, knows that the snake's ability to deliver a lethal bite can last for quite a while after the head has been severed from the body. What if this 'knotting and hanging' method was designed to keep the protein intact until the snake was no longer capable of delivering such a bite? Removing the head completely would allow the snake to bleed out, losing valuable nutrients, and would attract other animals to feed on the carcass. By hanging the snakes intact in a visible location, the Sasquatch would be able to loop back around at a later time and collect his snacks. Or, perhaps, he was leaving them there for another family member to collect once they were really dead and safe to handle? I do relish the idea of Sasquatch creating art, but I also have a tendency to lean back on Occam's Razor. I think the gathering and storing of food would be the simplest reason for doing this. How do you store food in a swamp without losing it to other creatures? While being able to actually FIND IT again, yourself? Tie it in a knot around a very visible tree branch. I don't know, of course... it's just a thought I had. At any rate, I always love your videos! Thank you.
