I helped my grandma do that once with her sheep and it was quite a rodeo LOL. We did some shots at the same time and there was one little ewe that was an absolute terror and was the biggest of the bunch. At the end when we finally got her shots in her my grandma turned to me and said aren’t you glad that was a ewe and not a ram🤣. My grandma has passed away several years ago since then and it was nice to get to reminisce on that one moment I had with her.

The first banding tool that I got, after closer inspection, appeared to be pretty cheap and I didn't trust it. Some have three anchor points, and others have four. So I went to that web sight that's named after a river in Brazil and found one that seemed much more substantial than the one I had. I read some of the reviews and there was one guy that wrote a review, but he was using it on himself. So in case you're wondering, he recommended having a second person there to help you get the band back off. Mine worked just fine for the goat I bought it for. In case you were wondering about that.

I’m pretty sure that little bugger would not have been licking your wrist if he knew what was coming lol 😂

Thank you for this video. I am about to bank my little 3 1/2 month old buck and am trying to learn as much as I can. Not sure if you will even see this, but when it comes to the injection, is it CD&T and is required or just the Tetanus Antitoxin? I keep reading that the T in CD&T and the Tetanus Antitoxin are not the same thing, so I am not sure which is the correct injection to give. Thank you.

You mention not liking big horns, is there a reason you don’t disbud them when they are little?

codiejo13 I love horns. Just not giant horns which they get when you leave their junk on too long.

Are they color coded? The green band might be the little goat or lamb size

We do banding and we do it at 8 weeks just to insure the urethra is developed all the way. But before we do that we always give them the tetanus antitoxin or make sure they already have a tetanus vaccine before we do it as well and we take them hold them down do exactly what you're doing and it's done and over with our goat that we're raising for a freezer was absolutely a hilarious sight we did the banding he came out got up started walking went stiff leg fell over and started pouting and crying like his whole world had come to an end that's only went on for a little while and eventually he got over it and then he was back to normal by I believe the third day he was back out playing having a good time goofing off being a goober like normal. People just have to remember that every goat is going to be different when I did a pygmy goat for a friend of ours he acted like nothing happened we did it he was done over with never had a fit nothing just what about his day like nothing had ever happened and then of course like I mentioned above our current goat for the freezer well I mean he acted like his entire world was coming to an end.
