      It's a good performance, but it's way way too short. They barely do 55 minutes before the encores start. This was a band that in previous years did 20 songs and 2 hour shows.
      The short sets are kind of indicators that something was about to give with KK and/or Rob.

      TY, SUCH AN AMAZING PERFORMANCE, only downside is its a very short gig. Compared to other shows on this tour when they did "The Sentinel" & "Beyond the Realms of Death". Maybe it was shortened due to Rob's injury? He had recently round this time hurt his back bad at a gig.

    Halford didn't lose his voice, it just transformed into a different style over the years. I mean for instance on Angel of retribution he radiates a lot of wisdom and maturity, whereas earlier it was something merciless. I agree, he may not be able to sing All guns blazing any more. This show is brutal, lucky are those who could be there!

      +chris zaia Metalmonster is completely correct here. Every and I mean EVERY singer of rock loses their high range as they age. Geof Tate, singer for Iron Maiden, all the glam rock band lead singers....Rob Halford is pushing 65, maybe 70 at this point. He does not have the upper range or falsetto he carried around in his 20's...stop being absurd.

    • @YouTube_Satan
      @YouTube_Satan 8 років тому +2

      Yeah, look at James Hetfield, the way he could scream in falsetto back on kill'em all. He lost that ability some time around 1990... :) And one who truly destroyed his voice, Phil Anselmo... Still, Mr.Halford are impressive to this day.

    Well, It is official Judas Priest was just announced to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame! The band has been together for over 50 years and have put out at least 18 albums and 6 live albums, they opened for Led Zepplin in the early 70's at The Day on the Green and along with Black Sabbath were the only 2 metal bands at Live Aid in the 80's. They have toured the world many times. I will never forget the first time I ever heard them was in high school and we were skipping class and someone said have you ever heard of these guys? They put in a tape of Sad Wings of Destiny and the song Victim of Changes played...and I was hooked, then I saw them live in concert for the first time a couple of years later on the British Steel tour. I have had all their albums and seen them many times. I'm so happy for them as they deserve it and everyone who has played in the band will be there including Les Binks. Congrats to Judas Priest!!!
    Rock On!!!🎸

    Halford didn't sing Painkiller like the studio not because he couldn't but you can see he didn't want to... my assumption is that it was because he didn't want to blow out his voice, you can see that when he is announcing the song(painkiller) how fucking high he screams it... IMO i admire his self control and thats pure dedication to the band,fans and the whole tour :D Love Rob

    • @0mik3mik3

      I'm sure this is true. Maybe his voice wouldn't have lasted as long had he sung it like in the studio.

    • @StaticYonder
      @StaticYonder 4 роки тому +2

      The thing is, He is singing it the same way as he did in the studio. The reason it sounds different is A. Its a live recording, and B. The same reason as why Rob is not the best singer in metal from a technical standpoint, that is his propensity to sing very Nasally live. This could be stylistic? Or just something he has to do to sustain his pitch without having a break between lines (which he'd get doing multiple takes in the studio). Unfortunately this element of his technique, his closed throat singing, coupled with 50 years of Falsetto screams, is how he damaged his voice
      So all in all, this is the best live performance of Painkiller Rob ever performed IMO. Some of the stuff hes done recently with the Screaming for Vengeance songs on the firepower tour are uncanny to the originals, its amazing

      @@StaticYonder Good comment. Do you think he always sang nasally live? Back in say, '83 and prior, he seemed to sing better without the nasally high pitch. In this concert above, he sings in one high pitch. I don't go see them anymore because I don't like this style. Have you seen the Memphis '82 official live concert? Would you say he's singing nasally during that?

    • @StaticYonder
      @StaticYonder 3 роки тому

      @@Frip36 I totally agree! Memphis was fucking amazing man! He used a very resonant, covered, belty sound, without that same Nasality. I think the extra amount of cocaine he did in 1985 - 1986 had a part to play. Cocaine seems to have that effect on regular users. Put age and wear into the equation and I think we have our answer. Metal gods live in Memphis was, I believe, at the peak of Judas Priest performances

But hey Rammstein still rules. and i enjoyed your comment. you forgot Mein Cock Brennt

    One of the best videos I've seen of the Priest. Seems funny that broke up not too long after this tour. I wished in their later tours ('05-'12) they performed tunes like "All Guns Blazing" "Bloodstone" or "Screaming For Vengeance" for that matter. I don't think they ever did though....

    • @LinkyHYC
      @LinkyHYC 10 років тому +1

      I doubt Halford would really be able to sing Screaming For Vengeance ;) Last time he tried was in 2002 with his band Halford and God it was painful.

    • @SilverTounge85
      @SilverTounge85 10 років тому

      'All Guns Blazing' and 'Screaming...' would be far beyond Rob's vocal range, during the last 10 years, since Priest reunited with him. In 1990 they tried to do 'Metal Meltdown' on the 5-6 first 'Painkiller' shows, and Rob had trouble singing it, and keep up with the speed of the song, so it was dropped. The intro for it was occationally played, but went into 'Riding On The Wind', with a Scott Travis drumsolo included.

    • @SilverTounge85
      @SilverTounge85 10 років тому

      They did 'Bloodstone' on the very first pre-tour 'Painkiller' show in L.A. in 1990, and it sounds below good, sorry to say. They did a small gig at the Concrete Foundations Forum, and played like 8 songs. I don't think they have done it since with Halford, but I think they did it in 1998 or 2001 w. Ripper a few times.

    • @SilverTounge85
      @SilverTounge85 10 років тому +1

      LinkyHYC I agree! He hasn't tried to sing it, nor 'All Guns...' for a reason. Because he can't nail them anymore. The Metal God has a lot of dignity, so he won't try (at least not these days) to do it, when he can't. For some reason I really like the "new" 'The Sentinel' on the 'Epitaph' tour. He sings it lower than earlier, but it's still good I think.

    • @LinkyHYC
      @LinkyHYC 10 років тому +1

      SilverTounge85 I must say that the Sentinel version on the Epitaph tour sounds awful to me. Rob is good while singing it with his mid range but the song lost all the intensity...I think they should drop it for the futur tour.
      About your other comment, the LA show in 90 wasn't good at all : Halford was absolutely tired at this one. I'm pretty sure they played more than 8-10 songs, the recording we have of it must have cut some songs out.
