If you are a beginner to rollerskating , try heelys or the extended wheel parts that you can put on your shoe. in the beginning they will help you with your balance and stability (That’s how I learned). Then Choose which skates. On inline skates it is easier to skate but if you ever fall, it is hard to get up without help. On quad skates It’s waaaaaaay harder to skate, takes longer to learn, but easy to get up. I hope this comment helped some people :)

I have quads. Little by little I have gained more stability and confidence. Quads have this unbeatable 80's vibe to them that In-lines will never have. I feel that In-lines are way more easy to use, as the foot has a longer platform of wheels at the front and rear, which provides more balance. Quads on the other hand are more difficult to master, but once you do, the feeling is unique. Aesthetically quads look much better on your feet; in-lines look like you have skis on your feet.

Mm makes sense. Totally respectable. Problem for me is the only reason I do sports is to go to the extreme so I chose aggressive inline skating, which basically levels out. I skate, surf, and bmx, so the thrill of having something challenging and dangerous is all I look for out of the things is do, which really made me choose the aggressive inlines. I never use my board or bike as a form of transport, only to do tricks and hit the park up. So far, the inlines are crazy fun.

I mean...quads are more 70s vibe and blades have a 90s vibe. Though the idea of inline skates is very old...the actual Rollerblade was marked in 1981 and saw a big upswing g in the late eighties into the 90s ...sooooo I guess I can factually disagree that blades can never have an 80s vibe

I am a 54 year old man and I started quad roller skates last year but never got comfortable even after putting about 8 sessions of an hour each. Today, I tried rollerblades for the first time and within 10 minutes, I was in a much better position than quad skates.

hey! beginner quad skater here. ive been quad skating for the past few weeks, almost every friday i go to the skating rink and skate. personally, quads are much better, for it really only took me 5 fridays to learn how to skate forward, turn, and how to fall. im currently using my friend’s inline skates and theyre not that hard for me to skate in actually! im ordering my own pair of quad skates this friday ^^ i suggest quad skates to begin with before inline skates, because in my experience, itll be easier to learn inline skates. its all to preferences really. just get what floats your boat ❤️ i dont really plan on learning inline skates, im just really bored and skate in my friend’s skate since she left them here lol. i hope this helps!

Quads are NOT necessarily more stable.. It depends on the wheelbase
. Short base can feel very tippy and whizzy.. I had the "privilege" by accident of having the use of a size 5 & 8 boot of identical build... (UK sizes don't ask) and the difference was night and day...

I like to go fast and the stopper in the front of roller skates always trips me up. When you run in rollerblades your body weight is shifted forward and it’s almost like running on the tips of your toes so the transition just doesn’t work for me. I wish I knew how to use them better just to dance but roller skates feel way too clunky and awkward for me.

My advice is, if you want skates that will be easier for outdoor skating pose to skating in let's say a smooth grounded gym area, I'd really suggest inline skates! In my experience, inline skates are quite stable and easy to learn. Inline skate can be used on sidewalks and bumpy roads while quads you'll probably lose your balance and trip. I will say though, if you are looking for something more aesthetic then quads might be your pick.

Hello! I’m a beginner trying to decide between the two types and could use an opinion- I want to go distance on an (often) smooth ped/bikeway, (Greenbelt in Boise Idaho). There are a few areas where the asphalt is very rough (though still flat) and a few areas where tree roots have turned up the path several inches (raised enough to want to avoid them on my road bike). There are even a few areas with concrete, with the typical indents between concrete slabs. I assume no matter which skate type, I’ll probably still have to avoid the big bumps? Also to note: I don’t have amazing balance. I’d appreciate your opinions on what might be best! Thanks!

i would say inline, the skates are far more maneuverable, though technique is important it is more forgiving than roller skates, the brake in the back for beginners inspires more confidence, with proper technique the speeds obtainable with roller blades are significantly higher than roller skates, easier to accelerate on roller blades, less weight which is optimal for those who are less in shape but also more optimal for those trying to hit peak performance, larger wheels make small rocks and bumps less dangerous (outdoor of course), etc... I am an avid skater (4 wheel inline, 3 wheel inline, ice skating and roller skates) and will say that for indoors i would suggest roller skates as they are incredibly fun and have a retro vibe but overall for high performance or for beginner use inline is definitely the way to go.

I'm also a figureskater but have had to find a way to practice outside of the rink due to the virus. I got the inline skates/blades because it definitely resembles the ice way better. The wheels are in a thin line and you are able to do most of the exercizes and tricks that you can do on the ice. I previously owned quads and can do barely anything on them haha.

Like a comment above said, weirdly enough inline are way more similar with ice skating than with quad, I remember the first time that I went ice skating and it was the same as rollerblading (Actually easier because the ice is so smooth compared to concrete), the same way to turn on ice you can use on inline, if you have money buy an artistic inline like snow white.

I have a couple of questions if you have time to answer a few of them that would be great. I want to buy a pair of tri skates because I hear so much good about them. I'm still really new to skating and currently own a pair of 4x90mm wheel inline-skates from K2. Can you help me out selecting the right inline tri skate for me? I'm just looking for suggestions and opinions if you can. I definitely want either 110 or 125 mm
Q1: Is the trinity frame from powerslide recommended for beginners or does it actually make it more difficult, and is it worth the difference?
Q2: What model tri skate could you recommend me? (I'm looking for a pair that have good support on the feet and ankles I'm a big guy and like I said not the best skater so I need good support and well packed in feet)
Q3: Hardboot or softboot other than the breathing of the material what is the big difference? (I think this also relates a bit to the question above, currently I have a softboot skate but tri skates I am higher off the ground.)
Q4: Is the difference in fitness skates vs urban skates big enough that I should stay away from one or the other? (They look fairly the same from browsing here at home but they might have differences in support, frames or something that I can't see or don't know about?)

    • @skateprorolling6574
      @skateprorolling6574  6 років тому +1

      Hi there :)
About the 110/125mm recommendation. I should recommend the 125mm only for very advanced riders. It's very big and could feel a bit odd for beginners!
The Trinity frame is making the skate more easy to change some things in the future, I would definitely recommend taking a trinity frame / setup :) I would recommend one of the Powerslides, it's a quality very high brand and they are making great skates :) If you are looking for a good supported boot, you should go for a hard shell, since it is giving you the right support, as you are looking for! The difference in the Urban and Fitness skates, it's the goal of skating you have so this is different from skater to skater. Feel free to send us an email with all your questions and thoughts!

okay im scared, i feel like the roller blades go really fast and they have a smooth skating thing to them. of course im going to fall sometimes, and i know that, but i want to stick with one. either quads or inline. inlines look cool, which i like, and i also like the retro feeling to quads. i cannot decide on which i want. i know quads are also very fast, if you're careful enough you wont fall. and i do not want kneecaps or any equipment. i used to go to skateland alot. i went skating last year, it was fun with my friend and my brother. i'm most into skates because i have more confidence on those. i have alot of confidence on bikes, but it gets tiring after a bit. skates dont feel tiring after using them for a bit, although your just moving your legs and thats it. it's like skateboarding, both moving your legs and not really anything else. im just here for advice on which is better.

If you choose for example the roller skates, you can choose softer cushings, then you would have better maneuverable skate. And if you choose Inline Skates you can go for the 3 wheel skates, which will give you more speed.
