I can't wait to get my preorder. The first thing I ever worked hard for was the gameboy Sp. Saved up for a few months mowing grass in about 5th grade. It's in really rough shape nowadays. I can't wait to breathe new life into that thing

I went to preorder & saw how there are NO Membranes for the Metal Buttons - I asked," how do you prevent the metal-on-metal friction?" It just magically doesn't exist 😹

The mod looks dope, Makho should be proud. I think I'm with you though, it's not my preference. But if I were going to mod an SP this would be a strong consideration, if it were importable (it might be I just haven't looked).

Made a full black model for my slate, it looks so slick.
I love the regular SP look, this just kind of reminds me of those emulator hand helds I see all over the net. Its sleak don't get me wrong but, something about the regular SP is just nicer.
bro you should try building the ULTIMATE gameboy, like with metal and mechanical buttons.. better screen, stuff like that :) that will bring in so much views!

Thank you! Even though I hate the SP, I still tried to stay as objective as possible. I would love to review the unhinged SP but I do not want to pay for it since it is so expensive and I don’t like SPs. But if they send it to me, I’ll definitely review it

I think its neat. It is expensive. I want to see cool new versions of the original GBA as well. The original form factor is my preference.

What would a good alternative to flush cutters? Dremel? I don't wanna go buy flush cutters just for 1 small job.
Dremel works but flush cutters are cheap and can come in handy other times in life so I recommend grabbing a pair anyways
I just did a mod on a sp with an ips screen but when I play after a few minutes the screen freezes but you can still here it in the background playing know why and how I can fix please and thank you

I had an issue with my a and b metal buttons being too loose so I used the membranes for a and b but trimmed the center membrane tab
How is your slate doing with the metal buttons ? Have you noticed anything since you adjusted the membranes
@@nerdbeast04 nope all good. I would recommend this on every build but also make sure you trim the L and R pins

Replying . I keep reading the metal buttons are ruining the tact switches. They have a whole Reddit conversation about it with photos. That kapton tape over the switches is a temporary solution & the tape always has to be replaced.
Does the dehum kit for the sp work with the slate?

here, where you mention the posts 10:09! do i glue to the back shell and that be before or after i put the springs around them! pls lmk!
This is in reference to this specific mod where the posts are slightly smaller so gluing it down makes sure they stay in. If you just did a regular sp mod, this would do anything. But you would glue the posts in before the spring and plastic

Boxy pixel looks 10xs better. I mean this doesn’t even come with a back for 90$. Boxy comes with the front and back for the same price.
