    Pipeline is one of the best parts of Studio One. It makes using outboard gear so easy

      So agree. I was always screaming and griping about Cubase because of this - and many other issues and then the day I heard about Studio One was like being re-born.

    Just want to mention that Pipeline works by adding the latency created by the round-trip of the Pinged signal chain to the DAW playback. So, consider that you might be adding additional or removing plugins that do add some latency --> you might want to re-ping your pipeline chain to compensate for added or removed plugins you might have been using *before your initial pinging of the signal*. (This might not be so important for post production processing on your master chain, but, if phase alignment with your track is important, repinging, as mentioned, will help accomplish this.) Also, you can manually increase the automatic offset, or manually decrease the offset (if there is any).

    Perfect timing!!! I spent all day yesterday finally using Pipeline XT (for the first time) with my analog stereo mixbus chain. There's one little detail that you haven't mentioned yet, that drove me crazy!!! Unless I am incorrect with this (or maybe I should have just known, but I had no idea). Perhaps this is just a Universal Audio Apollo thing??? I was getting a ringing back in my system. A doubling of the music (coming from my monitors through the main outs, as well as through the analog processed chain), like I needed to mute one of them somewhere. I couldn't figure it out. Muting the analog input channel in UAD Console would only just mute the analog chain all together, so that wasn't it. Turns out that I needed to go into UAD Console - to Cue Outputs (on the right hand side) - and turn off "Mirror To Output" settings for my analog input channels. Is this correct? Did you have to do this Dave? Unless I am missing something, somewhere else. Your input is greatly appreciated!

    • @HomeRecordingMadeEasy
      @HomeRecordingMadeEasy  4 роки тому +1

      Yes, you are correct. Mine console had the cue mix set to "non" as the default so that was not my issue. I had to mute the incoming channel faders to not get the "doubling" effect you are talking about and that works for me.

      @@HomeRecordingMadeEasy Okay yeah, that sounds right then. For whatever reason mine was set on channels 1&2 already (something I must have been doing in a recent session), which are my analog bus channels. Took a minute to find that. I also had to mute the corresponding channel in Console, like you. Now that it's all finally working, this a dream! Similar to your setup, I now just tied in another piece of gear on another pair of i/o for my drums (Elysia Nvelope). This works wonderful. I appreciate your 3 videos on this topic! Thanks. PS- I'm going to play around with some routing ideas using Pipeline. I'm not sure how this will work, but it seems like anything will go (sort of like virtual patching).

    on my Studio live 32 can I also make use of those ??? I have the Apollo X 6
    and some analog gear can I use the Studio live 32 to run some analog gear also ?
    please help me with this. Love the Tutorials really great work.

    I'm an old fart who, like the dinosaur I am, roamed the world way back in the analog days. Some time ago I tried using Pipeline, but was too confused by it. Thank you for this info. I can now use my old analog gear.

    David - can this work for a hardware modeler like Helix? I have Helix Native, but I’ve been experimenting with Helix as an external “plugin”. For recording real-time audio, I go into a HiZ on the x4, out 3 mono into a Helix return block at the beginning of the Helix chain (line level), then out Helix send 3/4 at the end of the Helix chain. That goes back into the Apollo 3/4 input. It’s working but the latency for live recording is pretty sluggish, even at 32 buffer. Have you ever used Pipeline this way? Appreciate all you do for the community. Enjoy all of your vids.

    How many instances of PipelineXT can you have on the master bus without getting sound degradation by doing multiple roundtrips through your ad/da conversion? … assuming you’re using UAD Apollo converters at 24/96…
    Or is it better to use a patchbay instead so you only have to use 1 instance of PipelineXT on your master bus. Thanks !

    • @HomeRecordingMadeEasy
      @HomeRecordingMadeEasy  3 місяці тому

      I am not sure to be honest. I would think you could put multiple instances with any audio quality loss.

    Why is the fader not working when using Pipeline as an Insert Effect in Studio One? It doesn't matter if I use fader automation or if I simply move the fader with my mouse, the sent signal is always the same volume. I want to automate my vocals before sending them out to my hw comps. The only solution I came up with was to use Pipeline a send effect or am I missing something here?

    Great content, super helpful. I have this working on my mix buss to integrate a stereo compressor per your directions. How would you use Pipeline to integrate an 8 or 16 channel summing mixer, assuming you have the outputs on your audio interface?

    Hey David, I was thinking about inserting a single channel hardware 1073 clone preamp on individual tracks with Pipeline… my thought was to not have to commit to settings while recording, but to dial in however much color I want for each track, transform/render it, then move to the next. Is that something that is doable and would you recommend it? Thanks!

    • @HomeRecordingMadeEasy
      @HomeRecordingMadeEasy  Рік тому +1

      Yes, totally doable! That process will take time if you plan to do it on every track in your session, but it's doable.

    Doesn't work in my case. I use S1-5 and got a Presonus Studio1824C Interface. Outputs 1 & 2 go into the outboard gear and back into line 1 & 2. You can see the signal going out in Pipeline, but nothing comes back but white noise. If you push the levels on some outboard device the rustle gets louder but still no sound... What can that be??

      It could be that outputs 1&2 are the default for your main monitors. 3&4 are default for your second headphone send. So try output 5&6 for your pipeline.

    when i use pipeline on individual tracks everything sounds fine until i want to print the audio..
    then it shows up on the screen 548 samples early..
    if you do a test with a hi hat i can clearly see and hear it flamming against the orig audio.
    i'm pinging the route and it's lining up fine in pipeline.. the audio sounds perfectly in sync when monitoring the signal back into the DAW,
    it's just when i print it as audio that it turns up ahead of time by 548 samples.
    the ping shows 179 samples offset.
    i'm using windows 10 with RME raydat PCIe card & prism orpheus converters connected over ADAT optical.
    is this a bug or am i doing something wrong?
    edit - i found if i use "bounce to new track" to render it out it lines up correctly.. when i bring it in on another track it is forward.

      PipeLine, if set up correctly should work with you having latency. Without seeing your entire setup I cant be sure why you are experiencing latency. I do not experience any latency at all.
