I'm so glad the _Tiny Toons_ are back. This show not only revitalized the _Looney Tunes,_ but introduced so many great and hilarious characters that made my childhood so much better. And the parodies, my god they were brilliant, and opened my mind to movies and shows I never would've considered otherwise.
It’s fair to say that without Roger Rabbit, we would have never had Tiny Toons, or Animaniacs or the DCAU! It really is one of the most impactful movies in animation history.
Not to mention the Disney Renaissance or even the start of Nicktoons - the latter of which spearheaded all the creator-driven cartoons we got in Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network, and countless others that we still get today.
Absolutely love Tiny Toons! Especially the parodies, The Simpsons, Saturday Night Live, MTV, In Living Color, and many other shows and dramas that us 80s into 90s kids were well aware of despite parents thinking, "We wouldn't get some of the gags!" For example, Babs making fun of normally Madonna but also Homey the Clown!❤😂
Tiny Toons helped me get invested more in the original Looney Tunes. I was already a fan of Bugs Bunny, Wile E Coyote and several others but Tiny Toons helped me explore a wider range of the Looney Tunes universe. It is a seriously underrated series that helped kick off the 90s cartoon renaissance and the Looney Tunes revival.
For those wondering about the controversy with Charlie Adler, it's because the network was under paying him even though he was one of the main stars of the show. He felt insulted at the pay cut they were trying to force upon him, so he walked out. Luckily, the Tales from the Crypt Keeper's voice actor, was capable of capturing Charlie Adler's high-pitched screams and performances! This was itself kind of a parody, as , Charlie Adler played Buster as a Crypt Keeper in one of the Halloween episodes, so this fusion worked out great. I only know firsthand because I got to meet my pal Cryptkeeper at a couple of conventions and he and I sat down discussed how this whole thing happened! Ofcoarse I thanked him for covering for one of my other favorite voice actors!
Tbh, even though I love his voice for Buster Bunny... I feel like he does better whenever he used his hilarious cartoony voice (usually for Cow, Chicken, Red Guy, Candy, the Bigheads and Grouchy Bear.) Also, yeah. I feel bad for Adler.
I wonder if he ever found out that in the Japanese dubs, Buster and Yakko would be voiced by the same person (same dude that's the voice of Frieza, BTW). That would stick in my craw.
It wasn’t just a contract issue, Charlie was upset that he was passed over for the part of Yakko in the then new show, Animaniacs. Charlie was an established voice actor at the time and Rob Paulsen was on his way up the ladder and he felt that he had earned the right to the lead role after the success of Tiny Toons. Rob Paulsen has discussed this a couple of times including the Toon Cast podcast.
@@araccoonreviews4620 I love Charlie's voice and all, but he would NOT have been a good Yakko. That HAD to be Rob. The character needed that almost smarmy car salesman charmer voice that only Rob could deliver, while Charlie is more well known for denser, wackier voices. It's a shame that he felt that way, and I wish they offered him a different character, but he was just a wrong fit.
It’s interesting how Roger Rabbit is often credited for starting the Disney Renaissance, but learning if the developments of Tiny Toons and Animaniacs makes you realise it also had a profound impact on WB and the Looney Tunes as well. If only also would have kickstarted a triumphant comeback for Betty Boop or Woody Woodpecker as well. Makes Boops cameo all the more poignant.
It was also what convinced Nickelodeon to start Nicktoons, which itself spearheaded all the creator-driven cartoons starting from the ‘90s and still going today.
Fun 🤩 Fact: legendary original Looney Tunes voice actor, Mel Blanc was initially set to reprise his roles as the classic characters, but due to his death 💀 in July 1989, his characters were recast by Joe Alaskey, Jeff Bergman, Greg Bursen, and Mel’s son, Noel Blanc.
Love this video, thanks for creating it! "How I Spent My Vacation" was MY JAM when I was a kid. I was completely obsessed with it, and I'd rent it from my local Blockbuster Video over and over and over again. I would immediately rent it again whenever I'd come in to return it, for weeks and weeks! (I'm not sure why I didn't just buy it?!)
My sister and I loved Tiny Toons, back in the day! We especially loved the whole "There's a car!" bit, from the movie! I'm still watching, to this day! This series, much like Animaniacs and Pinky and the Brain, didn't need a remake, though, because it just cheapens the nostalgia. Instead of updating our favorites, what Hollywood really needs are original ideas, that are still just as sharp and clever as previous cartoons, and that aren't pushing an agenda.
Love how Babs is described as “demure”, when she is waaay more over the top than Buster is a most of the time and he’s more the straight man. Also I had no idea Spielberg was THAT involved. It shows how he really wants to ensure the quality of anything he attaches his name to.
The 1990s was a big decade for Steven Spielberg because he worked on many projects including the summer blockbuster film "Jurassic Park" in 1993 and became founder of DreamWorks Animation in 1994.
I like the reboot, but miss the fluid animation of the old series. It makes the show more stilted. I hope the series expands beyond the school in future episodes. The old series took the characters across the country and around the world. Even to places like wacky Land. Acme Acres was a much bigger sandbox for the characters to play in as opposed to just Acme Loo. It also felt larger in scope with episodes like the wacky land toons basically being poached, earthquakes tearing through AA because of a missing mound of gold, buster finding a dinosaur egg that got surprisingly emotional.. it really felt like the toons could do anything, as opposed to just school-based hijinks. But we've only gotten 10 episodes so far so here's hoping the series can grow.
Unfortunately, that kind of animation has gone out of style with the development of technology and rising costs. To produce something of that quality these days would require a price 3x as mush as the original.
There were two movies Teletoon always showed at the end of June to celebrate summer vaca's arrival. Those were A Goofy Movie and Tiny Toons Adventures: How I Spent My Summer Vacation. I always watched them and it got me hyped for the lovely times to come!
Hell Yes!!!! Glad to see Tiny Toons covered! This was truly animation royalty, as with many projects under Spielberg, gave gorgeous backgrounds, beautiful animation, and hilarious hijinks!!! This in turn spawned excellent animators and writtens; who would later spread their talents into shows like Batman The Animated Series, Animaniacs, Pinky and the Brain, and so much more! I absoluely love what Tiny Toons spawned, but moreso, its hilarious comedy, gorgeous art, parodies, and characters who included the original WB crew to add more hilarity!❤
Fun fact: Gogo Dodo is the only Tiny Toon character who is related to a Looney Tunes character (his father is Yoyo Dodo from the 1938 cartoon "Porky in Wackyland" & it's 1949 remake). Also; Mary Melody's design is based on So White from the controversial & banned Warner Bros cartoon; "Coal Black and de Sebben Dwarfs".
I adore Tiny Toons! Many episodes I watched gives me so much joy and laughter. My favorite character has to be Fifi La Fume, I really enjoy her personality and she’s cute! When it comes to Looniversity, I had doubts if it’ll underwhelming as the Animaniacs reboot, but thank goodness it didn’t as I had a great time with the first 10 episodes! Definitely looking forward for more!
@toontasic_juju i don't really agreed with animaniacs 2020 being underwhelming it was reallu good for what it is but do wish the other characters make an appearance in the show but oh well i guess we still have the og but do enjoy tiny tunes looiversary not as much the og but decent 😗
Tiny Toon Adventures was part of my childhood when I watched it as a 8 year old when it's released. It cracked me up very much even though it has many innuendos and cartoon violence that overly stimulating my childhood mind BUT I LOVED IT A LOT! After it's cancelled, I start rewatching that also with Batman, Animaniacs, Pinky and the Brain even Freakazoid. Those are my childhood memories to remembering them. The reboot of that series wasn't that bad. It's much better than the PPGs reboot 2016. Regardless from those bunnies as siblings, I wish they were back as a cutest couple. But in this generation, reboots need to be bring back the zantiness since the Animaniacs reboot. I hope the new version of Tiny Toons will remain original not as classic as the original. WB, please, continue the reboot to make all fans enjoying the old times in which you did decades ago. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK, DOC!
Seeing how Subpar the new series is makes me miss the Original Series even more. What’s even worse is that Max isn’t conscious enough to show both series’s, which is a Crime in itself.
After the Animaniacs reboot it was only right that Tiny Toons got a comeback as well! To quote Andre Meadows ‘Tiny Toons walked to that Animaniacs could run!’ I’m so excited for Looniversity and I’m genuinely gutted that at the moment there is no legitimate way to watch this show in the UK.
I’d love to see Steven Spielberg to do some fully-animated feature films with Warner Bros. Animation for theaters featuring the Looney Tunes, the Tiny Toons from Tiny Toon Adventures, the Animaniacs cast, and other WB properties like an animated Gremlins movie!
Although he has relatively few appearances, my favorite Tiny Toon is Calamity Coyote, this is mostly because of his associated original Looney Tunes counterpart, Wile E. Coyote, who is my favorite of the original cast.
My favorite was when Plucky was a waiter at a ritzy restaurant and served all the movie and TV stars of the time... it was definitely an homage to 'Hollywood Steps Put' (1941). I also really liked Shirley the Loon! The thing about both 'Tiny Toons' and 'Animaniacs' is that there were definitely two versions in production: one had a sharp look to the animation, and was definitely the better of the two, and the other was more rounded and almost looked sloppily made. I've always wished that the first, sharper look was what they stayed with, but I suppose it was due to budgeting.
The reboot of animaniacs and tiny toons are really different from one another: The Animaniacs reboot is like a continuation from it's 1993 - 1998 show while Tiny toons Looniversity (Tiny toons Reboot) is like a reimagining of the original tiny toons adventure since it's like the characters never met each other
I love the classic tiny toons, my childhood favorite show. Animaniacs is really good! I wish that they should have kept those two rabbits unrelated in the reboot! And of course make the tiny toons a little taller especially for lil Sneezer.
Mighty Mouse: The New Adventures may have brought back old fashioned animation back, but Tiny Toons really popularized and changed animation. (And before you say it, Ren and Stimpy didn't really changed animation. But it did introduce people to alot of gross out humor and those unique closeups).
I SO can’t wait for when you do a Cartoon Evolution about the SWAT Kats, especially after the SWAT Kats: Revolution hits the streaming services! SWAT Kats is one of the most underrated shows that gained a massive audience in the last 30 years! And I’m super excited that Charlie Adler and Barry Gordon are gonna reprise their roles as T-Bone and Razor! I’m looking forward to when the first reveal trailer is uploaded, so I can see the animation and hear the voice cast once again! Bless Gary Owens and Brock Peters, they’re heavily missed.
Love the original series I do find that the new season I quite enjoyed it hoping to see more of, but as for my favorite Tiny Toon that would be Gogo Dodo
Funny enough, there were many parodies, puns and episodes produced by Bruce Timm and Paul Dini with Batman/ DC...which would later be evvolve into their involvent with Batman TAS and the DCAU!❤
The few problem with the reboot is that the rabbit becomes sibling, some of the characters become more annoying & less entertaining like Max, Shirley & Dizzy. And finally some of the new voice didn’t have flair
I'll admit that the new Tiny Toons is a decently good show with the characters given more personalities, and the animation is brilliant. But I still have feelings about Buster and Babs. I like their sibling relationship, but I'm still more focused on their original relationship.
Can't Believe You did the Tiny Toons Journey Today 😮😮😮 I Loved Looniversity Right Now Even though it is A whole New Timeline and Complete Reboot, It's still Fun,Wild, Looney Toony and Awesome for Me😍😍😍🤘🤘🤘🔵🐇🎀🐇
Aside from making Buster bunny and Babs bunny Related now, making it an alternate retelling of the series is quite confusing since the animanaics reboot previously had Buster and Babs bunny in their original "Adventures" Forms.
Great video 📹 I like the new Tiny Toons series, I think 🤔 it's better than the new Animaniacs series. One minor problem I had with the old Tiny Toons was that it had some episodes that got pretty mean towards the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 🐢 at the time.
I can't really remember when I caught the original show but I knew of it. I played the video games and I still remember owning my favorite character as a plush toy....Furball! I just had a thing for characters or animals with tails. (I kinda still do) but it wasn't till latter on when Nickelodeon bought up the rights to show it on their channel that I remembered it. My favorite of the the all is the Summer Vacation movie. Of al the cool songs (especially the strumming of the banjos scene) and the on going of Buster and Babs trying to one up each other with getting them each wet with toy water guns. I enjoyed all the episodes. I even have the whole set on DVD and some actual TV recordings from other FOX channels. Great job on the episode Dave. As I always say or write you did another great episode.
Tiny Toons was a revolutionary series at the time, and one of the shows to start the 90's revolution just before Nicktoons blew the lid off of it. Though I always wondered why the series was about them going to school to become cartoon stars if their only starring cartoons were about them going to school. I guess you could call the second half of the series their senior thesis. Anyway, I'm 2 episodes into the revival, and I'm enjoying what I'm seeing so far. Kind of reminds me of the Muppet Babies reboot, using the same characters in different ways for a different audience, but still being relatively the same. And I am impressed that they are using long suffering 60's LT characters and NOT as a "you suck" joke. Merlin the Mouse, actually likable and looked upon with respect? Never thought I'd see the day. I give them all the credit in the world for diving into the dark age of LT and treating those characters as equals, even though I'm not a fan of that era of the characters.
For some reason, I like Merlin The Magic Mouse. Especially when Daws Butler voiced him. Probably due to the fact I like W.C. Fields. I always thought Cool Cat was a bargain basement Pink Panther, though.
Great show and movies! So sad that to this day here in Germany Tiny Toons still has not been given a proper release yet. Would love to have it complete on DVD or even BD. Only have the VHS of "How I spent my summer vacation" and the NES and SNES video games.
I love the tiny toons like babs and buster bunny and I like the episode of when buster and babs bunny are going to find bugs in who bopped bugs bunny so I can't wait to see tiny toons university dave!
Hey Dave, speaking of Looney Tunes, even though it seems like you have done evolutions on all of them, there are still two left you should do. First is Granny kind of, as while I know you already briefly talked about her in your Sylvester and Tweety evolution, she is just as prominent a both of them, so I think it would be fair to do a more in-depth evolution about the looney grandma. And secondly is rather surprising one, but it’s Michigan J. Frog, as despite just being a ‘one and done’ character as you would say, he has somehow became just as recognisable as the rest of the star Looney Tunes, so it would be a really unique evolution about him. I know there are other Looney Tunes characters out there, but I don’t think they are really recognisable enough to really be given evolutions, not every character is really has that amount of material.
@ey9439 Yeah true but think wss just say he just wanted to watch the original series in hd but sadly was removed along with the animaniacs and i was hoping they would put them on the max but it seems its not going anytime soon 😟
@@EvyOriginal I really want the original 1990 series to be brought to MAX, and Konami's Tiny Toons video games to be brought to modern consoles in a compilation similar to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Cowabunga Collection.
Loonaversity is a good reboot! Unlike the Animaiacs reboot, Loonaversity made sure to include its diverse cast, and seeing how its established as a diffrent show, and not a continuation of the original, gives new takes on characters to spice things up. Although sadly, the " No Relation" gag is forever lost!😢❤
Well the animaniacs reboot is actually really good i still don't understand hate for it like yeah all the other characters are missing but does that makr the show bad no it still good even without the other characters but thats just me tho 😗
I’d love it if you did an “Evolution of The Muppets” video since I saw “Muppet Babies”. It could be on “Explaining Disney” since Disney own the puppets now.
i saw the two ep's of the reboot already and it was awesome, wow, amazing. And every body, know, what happens here, cue the music. Tha tha tha tha tha tha tha tha tha tha that's all Folks,Muggles, species,Earthlings,Martians,Aliens,UA-cam,gg go home folks!(Bay-woop!) iris out fade out to black
I figured out that the whole Plucky spin off thing was just a joke since the only original episode was about him ditching his own spin off. Even the finale joked that a fully original Plucky spin off wouldn't work
Honestly if there is only one movie that would ever receive a sequel my choice would be Roger Rabbit, directed by Steven Spielberg this time WITH Tom & Jerry in a segment or cameo. ❤
I remember when they first introduced "Pinky, Elmyra & the Brain" I assumed it was an intentional parody of hamfisted attempts by clueless executives to retool shows. Poe's Law in action, I guess.
I'm so glad the _Tiny Toons_ are back. This show not only revitalized the _Looney Tunes,_ but introduced so many great and hilarious characters that made my childhood so much better. The few problem with the reboot is that the rabbit becomes sibling, some of the characters become more annoying & less entertaining like Max, Shirley & Dizzy. And finally some of the new voice didn’t have flair
Nice work on doing evolutions!
Great video 📹
I like the new Tiny Toons series, I think 🤔 it's better than the new Animaniacs series. One minor problem I had with the old Tiny Toons was that it had some episodes that got pretty mean towards the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 🐢 at the time.
My favorite 🤩 Tiny Toons appearance are the ones from the classic 1990s animated series Tiny Toon Adventures
Tiny Toons Looniversity joins a long line of fantastic cartoon revivals like Beavis & Butt-Head, DuckTales and Clone High.
15:09 i just saw Peewee Herman.
It's a shame that Paul Reubens died of cancer this year.
2:10 2:11 Your voice synces perfectly it almost looks like Bugs Bunny is talking.....
...and Hamton needs his overalls back
23:30 I hope they make that 3 seasons, ya know, like the Animaniacs Reboot!
Great show and movies! So sad that to this day here in Germany Tiny Toons still has not been given a proper release yet. Would love to have it complete on DVD or even BD.
Only have the VHS of "How I spent my summer vacation" and the NES and SNES video games.
Maybe when Mufasa the Lion King comes out, you can do a cartoon evolution on Timon and Pumbaa
I sure don't like that Babs and Buster are more TOTALLY related in the new one.
I love the tiny toons like babs and buster bunny and I like the episode of when buster and babs bunny are going to find bugs in who bopped bugs bunny so I can't wait to see tiny toons university dave!
Any chance you'd explore animation history of Australia, especially anything by Yoram Gross of the Dot movies?
I love those movies in my childhood!
Blinky Bill would also be a good topic to cover, as it had two different series.
I have too many favorites to name them all, lol. I personally love Tiny Toons more than Animaniacs
Awesomeness video ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Steven Spielberg inspired me to become a filmmaker
I love steven spielberg and creating the tiny toons!
@@mayracordero382 me too.
Tiny Toon Adventures was originally syndicated, but moved to Fox after 2 seasons, including new episodes and repeats of the syndicated episodes.
Sadly the original tiny toons got removed from hulu
Tiny Toons is owned by WB and as such will live on Max
Yeah, I watched all ten episodes in the first season, and regardless of the changes, it really is a very good reboot.
It’s so great that people are willing to give it a chance after that infamous leak. This is why I prefer not to look over prerelease coverage.
The only thing I don't like about the reboot is that it was a hard reset. It would've been nice if the characters had known each other beforehand
This was a good show. I think my favorite character was Babs Bunny, but I hate that they had to change the relationship between Buster & Babs.
i saw the two ep's of the reboot already and it was awesome, wow, amazing.
Even the finale joked that a fully original Plucky spin off wouldn't work
I love cartoons
23:10 Yeah... this obviously did NOT age well at all.
"Only on HBO max". Not anymore! It's been playing on cartoon network now!
Woo woo!
Im the only one here who liked the new tiny toons ???? 🥺
I liked it too
@@EvyOriginal thank you i thought i was the only one 😁
Why you asked i'm pretty sure people liked it not as good as the og but decent to say the least 🙂
I'll love the new tiny toons reboot show when I see it! ❤😊
Dave can you do voice evolution of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
While I DO love the Looneversity series, I question Warner's desire to remove romance from it
Honestly if there is only one movie that would ever receive a sequel my choice would be Roger Rabbit, directed by Steven Spielberg this time WITH Tom & Jerry in a segment or cameo. ❤
I remember when they first introduced "Pinky, Elmyra & the Brain" I assumed it was an intentional parody of hamfisted attempts by clueless executives to retool shows. Poe's Law in action, I guess.
I'm not a Big Fan of Tiny Toon Adventures. But I do like the Appearances from the Looney Tunes Characters
My Two Favorite Tiny Toons Episodes Are Acme Cable TV and Love Disconnection
How can I watch it in Australia
16:24 Plucky Duck Show - Tiny Toons Spin-Off
This video basically summed up the problems i have with the reboot
Wow ! The simpsons it references in tiny towns ❤❤
I thought there was a lot more pinky and the brain and elmyra. Only 13 episodes, it felt like a lot more (interpret that as you will haha)
I grew up watching Tiny Toons on both Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network as well as Kids WB.
