    • @TheRootCulturist

      There will be a pollen cluster. Typically, you should be able to pollinate 2-3 flower.

    Hi
    Thanks a lot for sharing.
    I got my first flower but I have only one.
    This is new to me and wanted to know what media you use and how to fertilize the plant and what is the best PH value.
    Is there different colors and is it possible to multiply from a branch?

    • @TheRootCulturist
      @TheRootCulturist  2 роки тому +1

      We’re using a neutral ph cocopeat and perlite. You can consider slow release fertiliser as it’s fuss free.
      Yes there are many colours. If you want multiple colours on the branch would be considered grafting.
      Propagating the branch is possible by cutting off the branch letting it callus and placing it in perlite. However, they don’t form that nice caudex associated with seed grown adenium.

      Will self pollinate mine. I do some orchids seeds flasking which needs sterilized conditions. Wanted to know how to plant from seeds.
      I am in France and would like to get some seeds of different colors.

    • @TheRootCulturist

      Depends what you’re after. Seed grown produces nice caudex

    • @TheRootCulturist
      @TheRootCulturist  2 роки тому

      They don’t need to be sterile. Just sow them in media and they will sprout. You can try those cactus stores in France. They may have what you’re looking for.

    I need yr advise. This morning I noticed that 2 potted desert rose the soil on top are mouldy. It has been raining very heavily. My plants are indoor n all windows closed. Is this the caused of it due to humidity? Also I recently just sprinkled some neem cake powder on top of the soil.Does it caused the soil to be mouldy. Thank you

    • @TheRootCulturist
      @TheRootCulturist  Рік тому

      Hi, yes highly likely due to the Neem cake powder, it’s due to the powder being broken down it’s normal.

      Just leave the plant in the area you grow them. Don’t need to change the position

    Does a plant have to be a certain age, before pollination is successful please. Interesting

    • @TheRootCulturist
      @TheRootCulturist  3 роки тому

      Yes, it would have to be of mature size to flower. Although, flowering a young plant can be triggered by flowering we prefer to use plants >2 years old.

    So mine grows in hydro culture and I tried to pollinate with a brush some time ago. I want to try your method. As I read there should be less water give to the plant. How does less water make the pollination more successful? Is there something else to increase the success rate?
    Anyway: thank you for you video!

    • @TheRootCulturist
      @TheRootCulturist  4 роки тому

      The key would be a balance. Water in excess and too little may cause the plant to abort all its flowers. Since they are grown via hydro, would just recommend to do as per normal. Avoid watering the pollinated flower. Good luck. Looking forward for your success update!

    If you polinate on same plant ,does the seeds become albino?

      No it doesn’t. Unless, the plant is albino or is pollinated with other albino.

      @TheRootCulturist Thank you, another question, if I polinate the same flower are the Sedd's going to be Viable? My neighbor has a desert rose plant, and he doesn't polinate them,but the seed's that come out of his plant they're mature but very tiny and skinny, none of them grow, thank you.

    • @TheRootCulturist
      @TheRootCulturist  8 місяців тому +1

      @josegomez7051 yes it will be viable. Which stage are those when they are ready to disperse? Likely it wasn’t pollinate right or the plant is still a bit young.

    I mean taking the pollen of a flower and placing on the receptive surface of the same plant itself ?

    Hi I don’t quite understand. By putting the pollen to the stigma and rub it up and down, aren’t you also pollinate the flower’s own pollen to its stigma instead of using another flowers ID to cross pollination ? Maybe should remove the pollen of the mother plant so avoid its own pollen accidentally making it pregnant ? Thanks

    • @TheRootCulturist
      @TheRootCulturist  3 роки тому

      Hi, this video is to show growers who have never tried their hands at pollination that pollinating Adenium is simple. For the steps you have mentioned, they are very valid points but that’s for someone who already has a goal in mind.

    • @dunkhills5734
      @dunkhills5734 3 роки тому

      Thanks for prompt response. I cross pollinated once and it’s now pregnant. but I began to wonder if I actually successfully crossed the ID from the another plant using another plant pollen or during the process I accidentally pollinated with its own pollen hahahaah hence I guess it’s better to remove its own pollen to increase the cross rate. Cheers

      Congrats on a successful pollination. Yes, if you already have a pollination in mind, you can lob off the receiving plant’s pollen to avoid self pollination.
