You might see something cheesy here…but that was my childhood. It was a different time.
And the best of times! This was a man who had hardened his heart to emotions and so when he begins to show those emotions people today call it cheesy. Sad.
Watched it weekly for the first two or three seasons. Was in high school at the time.
So true ❤
Gouda nuff for me.
Cheesy childhood
WOW! This must've been a post 1977 episode, because I watched Happy Days every week until 1978. Great acting and the only people who would call this "cheesy"(that word didn't exist back then) - are those who've never known fatherlessness in their life.
OKAY OKAY OKAY....I'll find a streaming service to finally watch this show!!! Jeeeze.... you got to pull so hard on the heart strings?!
I remember when these shows were airing new on tv (I'm 50 now), but never did get a chance to watch them. Maybe two or 3 episodes during the re-runs over the years. Not a bad show at all, just never watched them.
Now... I think I'm overdue. And it's weird for me to say this because I'm a fan of Ron Howard directed movies, and I love seeing Henry Wrinkler show up in films.
Geez. Never to be heard from again
Not bad ⚡️
Shark Jumped?
I never saw this episode. Wow
"...a man who was married to your mother when you were born..."
I love how Fonzi looks at Mr. Cunningham for a ruling. lol
I love how many times they rewrote and rewrote Fonzie's backstory. The age his father left changed at least three times, his tonsils got taken out twice, etc. and every member of his family have about two backstories of their own. Pre tv-on-demand writers were just like 'Continuity? Never met her'.
I know, In a very early episode Fonzie told Richie that his father left him when he was 12, And then in the Christmas episode, Christmas Time, He said that he was 3, And then in the episode, Mother and Child, He told Chachi that he was 2, And then in a Halloween episode he told Richie that he already had his tonsils out, So it's hard telling whichever it was.🤔🤔🤔
Comedies were never big on continuity, and that's OK as long as they were well written and funny. MASH had a lot of contradictions as well. Hawkeye had 2 parents, then he only had a father. I think Trapper's or Henry's wife had a name change early on.
All true. Also, as the show went on, Miller and Boyet became unrepentant hacks. Then they made shows like Perfect Strangers, Full House and Family Matters which reinforced that truth.
Say what you will, but Perfect Strangers was damn funny, even had moments towards the end of it's run
Maybe they would have liked continuity better if we'd referred to her as "Mrs. C!" LOL.
Ahh the good ole days when there were ashtrays in the airports instead of metal detectors & TSA agents lol
this scene and the music was so sad
both almost makes
me cry.😢
When I was in Kindergarten the Fonz was the coolest guy in existence to me and all my friends.
I'm 53 now and he still is the Coolest .
My only brother was murdered 19 years ago and Lord knows I still miss him. I just watched iron claw the other day and it brought back memories. There's nothing like a brother especially when you're close in age. I miss him every day so NEVER take the people you love for granted, soak up every moment
I'm so sorry. I have three brothers, I hope I don't have to go through that. I am the oldest, and I truly hope I'm first
I'm sorry for your loss l know how you feel I lost my Big brother my only brother 11 years ago I still miss him.
@@TimeVextorX I know you already know man. We'll see them again, things will be a lot better, easier for us all. Nothin but Love 2 you and yours 💪
Despite the passage of nearly 20 years, I wish to extend my most heartfelt condolences.
All these years and I never knew the Fonz had a Brother 💥
Yeah same.
🎇Happy Fourth of July🎆🇺🇲🎂
My mom bailed on me when was a baby...I had to learn it wasn't about her .. my dad was a piece of work on his own ... I was bitter... But I did get to spend time with her before she died.... I was angry, and at tht same time l. Loved her.... Because nothing is ever simple.... But what l gained was a whole new family on the other side.... We are family, nothing is ever going to change that.... I missed out on having a mom, and my dad God love him, diid best could.... Failings and all ... I have a great bunch of cousins, and an aunt, my uncle Sam passed, but l got love and respect him before he passed away.... Sometimes when we think we have nothing.... We find a whole world
❤
Such a different time - on one hand I miss and am glad I can watch it but on the other this generation will never understand it fully. I still watch I love Lucy it clears my very jaded soul.
This was one of my favorite shows in the 70ies, we used to wait every week for this next one to air and then talk about all week in school... that is what we did back when I was 8-9...
"Must-see TV" before there was such a thing. It aired Tuesday nights at 8ET/7CT. I turned 61 a few days ago, and can totally relate. Posting 6-29-24.
So, I guess Christopher Walken from "Pulp Fiction" was their father.
"The Fonz" was and always will be one of the coolest TV. characters of all time, period!
Though Fonzie was a fictional character, even HE had a couple idols, namely James Dean and the Lone Ranger. In one episode, the Fonz looked at a poster of James Dean and said wistfully "Sometimes I think you and me are the only ones who understand cool."
Well, we all know the Fonz went on to become a great lawyer:)
And a doctor! And an acting coach!
And he jumped a shark, twice!
That was after working at a morgue.
He became a foosball couch
The amount of rage a character like the Fonz would have about his father... just like will in Fresh Prince... it never goes away...
Yes, it does. When you finally realize that you're a grown man and that you are responsible for your own life and feelings, not some ghost from the past. How do I know? I spent years wallowing in my anger listening to songs like Rearview Mirror by Meatloaf and then understanding I had to grow up by hearing It's Been Awhile by Stained.
You either take control or be ruled by fear and emotion.
And so Will smacked Chris on live TV at the Oscars.
1:07. Erin Moran was so sweet, RIP pretty lady....
She definitely wasn't very pretty when she got older.
@@stevesabo1269 Sadly not, the years were not kind to her...
Yes th whole world 🌍🌍 miss her great actress
I didn’t even know she was sick
Addiction was not kind to her.
Its always too late...Be a Father while your alive, doesn't matter when your dead.
Words to live by
Carol Burnett too
This made me a litte teary eyed when they said goodbye
I loved Mrs. C
Great fans here in Columbia SC love tht show
I'm a fan in Florence
You know something I always think about my late brother everyday and every years who died in Aug 2016 after my mom died in Dec 2015. I’m very lucky to alive with 3 sibling sisters
Move on Jeffrey, if you are struggling to embrace the living and live normally then think about getting help.
@@willbee7925 who said he was struggling? i lost a brother many years ago and still never forget it. that dont mean im struggling. im sure he moved on already or is working on it but that dont mean he has to forget or stop talking about it. in fact talking about it helps. try to be more sincere instead of judgemental.
This show got SO. BAD.
Who’s cutting onions in here?
Set in the 50s yet people are wearing perms and flares
Well this episode took place in the late 60s. But yes except for the first two seasons(used vintage 50s style clothes) by season 3 things started to changed with production and wardrobe. The sets got smaller and cheaper and the clothes changed. It was slow at first but after a few years you could see the actors were wearing modern clothes off the rack that might have resembled 50s and 60s style clothing but were clearly modern clothes that didn't have that same 50s and 60s quality of cut. It was all cost cutting moves. Even the writing got more simplistic and silly. The first two seasons are the best in production quality and writing by far. The first 2 seasons felt like the 50s and the writing was much more realistic.
This was true of Grease as well. It's always bugged me that the theme song to a movie set in 1959 sounds like something the Bee Gees would have sung.
This is the final season so it should be 1965 or 66.
Why is tv such crap now. Why can't we have wholesome show now instead of the garbage we have now.
I don't remember this episode
I remember a friend of mine loved the lullaby so much he made a version to use with his kids.
This episode of "Happy Days" is called "Arthur, Arthur" (Season 11 - Episode 8) which aired on December 6, 1983
Thank for informing episode
My first Christmas.
They actually did a great job casting his brother. They look alike, and he picked up some of Winklers mannerisms.
For all of those who always wanted a sibling, but never got one, this is for you.
you can ALL have mine 😅😂😂
I am the youngest brother of 3 sisters. I love my sisters but I don’t wish it on anyone. A brother for more balance in siblings may have been nice.
Thank you
Hey dog face! I was in 3ID too. Rock of the Marne! Hooah! Welcome Home Brother.
Well said.
I thought I saw every episode! I never saw this one!
Dude looks like Steve Guttenberg
Dame I didn’t want my eyes to leak/ but that last line The Fonz said / I leaked all over the place
This was my childhood the fonz my idol I watched the Saturday morning cartoon had the toys and I was finally able to get Henry winkler autograph I miss this show so much so glad we have some of the cast left
I really believe that today's generation is missing this and what true 'reality' tv really is... This was tv that always hit home. I wish this generation would understand that we really don't hate them, or find them maligned of out of sorts. I feel like there is such a monumental gap between those of old, and those of new that needs to be bridged. It is not something that can be forced together, but it has to come together willingly.
I have mixed feelings about my BirtDads death he died in 2005 I know I was told how he and my BirthMom made my life a living hell but I do miss them all four of us kids were placed in FosterHomes the only person in my family who stays in touch with me is my Little Sister but she never visits the way I see it is they are all happy without me so I wont ruin it for them I just wish them luck
I don't know why I read this in Fonzie's tone of voice
I'm sorry. My dad has a similar story. He broke the chain with me
😢😢😢😢😢😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
😢
what happened to Richie's big brother?
He was kidnapped by Yoda and the dildo queen.
I don’t remember this . Very cool
Can I be honest I remember being 10 years old watching the first episode season one at 74 when he didn’t even have a leather jacket yet that character was so cool. The rest of the characters was so cool Richie and his family greatest show on TV growing up, besides maybe the $6.06 million $ man lol but by 19 7778 they were getting old looking and they should’ve pulled the plug in 79. It was ridiculous after that laugh track horrible story lines. Fonzie was a teacher just horrible I mean the show ran and another 4 1/2 years after Richie left look at the character. Fonzie was like 50 years old story which just so bad , they just never know Laverne and Shirley. They went another seven years too long memories again lol
As a kid growing up in a Texas border town, all of us Mexican kids loved the Fonz!
We were all poor, but every once in while, some lucky kid would get a simulated leather
jacket as a gift, and would triumphantly wear it to school proclaiming, "Es como la de
el Fonz" and graciously allow us to touch the pleather . . . 😊
I agree with what ur saying. Just recently, RTD said he was brought back to get a new and younger audience on board. Yet he gives a new audience homework. I knew who Sutekh was, and Pyramids of Mars is one of my favorite Tom Barker stories. I am a longer time fan thou. RTD, pick a lane is all im saying..lol
I found out late in my Teen Years that my Mom's Father left her , her brother and my Maternal "Grandmother when she was maybe 3 or 4 years old, maybe Younger. I think I was told that he remarried. I was always expecting a phone call or a knock on my Door to say I had an Uncle or maybe Cousin I didn't know about, but that never happenned and since I am no longer younng- probably never will.
Am I hearing wrong or does Fonzie call his brother Artie at 3:48? Did Vito seriously name both of his sons Arthur?
edit: just looked it up -- he totally did. the title of the episode is "Arthur, Arthur."
I love Fonzie! Sniff❤
i was thinking, since fonz was a motorcycle guy and lived in frequently frigid milwuakee, how did he get around in the winter with all the snow and ice all around? 🤔
Who had a Happy Days lunchbox in elementary school?
yeah somewhere out there beneath the pale moon light sometimes listen to your grandma or yo ma! ssh I am watching the burnsides and thank you thank you and good day sir!
Happy Days had jumped the shark by this time .........
I hate the fact that the owner of the page disabled the dislike button but less than the fact that I hate that there isn't a 'love' button. Sit On It UA-cam!
Find wearing flare jeans and those shoes told me the show jumped the shark.
Used to argue about who would win between Fonzie and The Big Ragu.
❤🎉 Special.
Ya Hoooooo
I started watching Happy Days when Chuck was part of the family... Right from the beginning... I can't believe (or remember) how I missed this episode....
This will make up for burning his baseball cards
How bout that......the folks at Happy Days gave Fonzie a brother
and they took Richie's brother away.
AW I never saw this episode 😢
😊 good days man. The fonz was legendary. Ayyyyyyyyyyeeeeeee!
Fonzi can sing….😮🫶🏻👍
Terrible pacing.
The irony of the watch and the lack of time with his father 💔
I never really watch a lot of Happy Days but i enjoy watching these 4-5mins clips.
Fonzie forever! -hELLA HING
And they never seen each other again 😮
And… he was never mentioned again
Did Chuck ever visit?
Arthur Fonzerbaum
I Know You Miss Me But Try Not To Worry I Think This Evening Is Good For Me I Love You Very Much And I Know I’ll See You Soon
🏍 🦈
I love Happy Days.
Passengers Only
Should of been called the Fonzie show.
The execs wanted to change it to “Fonzie’s Happy Days” but Henry Winkler and Ron Howard made lots of noise and management relented.
Who's the guy playing his brother?
Michael Holden. He has done a ton of tv work.
I'm just here to say one thing...
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay!
Thank goodness he knew that lullaby. DNA testing didn't exist back then.
Not bad
That's where "Shut the front door came from!" and it's so cool .... YEAH LOVE HAPPY DAYS 😂
Fonze's brother died flying back to his home planet Mars
when human beings used to have heart including fictional television characters
3:49 "Artie"? both kids were named Arthur Fonzerelli?
Happens sometimes, I have an Uncle John and a Uncle Jonathan
@@FionanUaMurchadha do they have the same father?
@@ChrisLawton66 Yes
this show really got bad
So awesome!
Good (check that) Great stuff
Both named Arthur.
Ayyyyyyeeeee!!!👍👍👍
Joanne turn to drugs
Arthur!
Never saw this...wow
I'm a huge Happy Days fan, and thought I'd seen every episode. Apparently not.
3:20 He called him "Fonz" instead of Arthur.
And?
@@davidrichter9164 And he hugged him.
@@pattystomper1And?
@@Guitarplayer724 And he called him "Fonz" instead of Arthur.
They should have gotten Sylvester Stallone to play his Brother.
The Simpsons did it first
This episode is from 1983. Homer Simpson’s long lost brother appeared in the early 1990s.
😅😅😅@@Amaranthus75
It's a reference to South Park....and also the fact that every tv show recycled scripts.
@@fletchkeilman2205 Ahh, never seen it 😆
Fonzie 70s-80s
Urkel 90s
I never thought that Fonzie was a particularly interesting character, so when he became the central character of the show, I stopped watching.
They had to m the show about something I guess. Should have made Richies older brother a musician who had a recording studio so they could have had regular guest stars who were real stars like Sun & Motown.
They all still talk about your boycott. Even at fan conventions, they have panels all about you.
@@RogerKomula-kl9lb ...perhaps you can break it to them, that I'm still not a fan.
I guess if my turning the channel constitutes a boycott, then I've boycotted quite a few programs in my time. I'm surprised that the industry can actually survive the way this has been going.
always am a Happy Days Fan here in Georgia ❤❤❤
@@RogerKomula-kl9lb😂😂
We had something similar here in Britain, it was called ‘The Young Ones’.
Glad this isn’t on anymore 🥱
