    Waylon and Jessie and Johnny Cash stopped by our little town - actually went 80 miles out of their way - to make an appearance at our annual community fall River Day festival in the early 80’s. They came rolling in on their two big tour buses to our sheer delight! Trouble was, hardly anyone believed us when we told them they were coming, so we had about a thousand fewer people than we expected.

Sibling harmony is the best you can find, but the Glaser Bros were the very best on Earth. We saw them in concert 3 times & if they'd been around more where we could've gone, we sure would've. I was so terribly sad when Tompall passed away then when Jim & Chuck passed it really hurt my heart. I have nearly every record they made. I'd like to have them all. The way Tompall treated his brother Jim, forced Jim to go out on his own. Chuck was the peace maker. But Tompall was jealous of his brother Jim. AND wasn't the same as singles ... The trio was what made him. Waylon put Tompall in the group as an outlaw. Otherwise... he would not have made it on his own. Jim did great as a solo artist... much better than Tompall . The group was where the real talent was. Glaser Brothers! No one could match them.

    I miss the days back when I would play and sing all the country favorite with my band . During breaks I would sit talk drink my liquor dance to the noise box 5 selections for a quarter. Back when real men were gentlemen who treated their wife/date like ladies/princess. No one said much out of the way to another.Then you could sit outside of the saloon/dance hall with a group of friends drinking having fun and a couple cops would pull up and sit talking an hr having a blast. Get home around 4 bathe eat catch a power nap be at work at 6 get home at 5:30 eat bathe catch a power nap then head to the dance hall at 6:30 start it all over again.
    God I miss those days, won't ever be again like it was in the 50-60 and 70s

      Jessi's teeth are absolutely perfect BTW so WTF are talking about to begin with ??
      Are you another one of these guys who as a kid you walked in on 'Ol Waylon plowing your mom ??
      Bama dead head.
      Let's break it down...
      A. You're from Alabama. Worst in the nation for poverty and education. And second only to Arkansas in the lacking teeth dept.
      B. "Dead-Head" means you're a chronic bong hitter and likely between age 68-75. Which means your penis hasn't worked in a quarter of a century. That's why you're divorced 3x and bitter towards the world. But there's no one else to blame for you misery and suicidal tendencies except for YOURSELF and your repeated, consistent bad choices. Are those felonies STILL on your record Jimbo ?? You could've had those fines paid off in 5 yrs if you weren't such a lazy procrastinator. Now that your mom couldn't stand you any longer and finally kicked the bucket you have no more freeloading, basement dwelling to do. All of your exes have long since moved on and only bring your name up when it's joke time. Because.... well... dont feel too bad because there's never been a woman who was pleased with a 4" dick. So you aren't totally alone. When was the last time you attempted to speak with your child ?? MmmmHmmm.
      Jesus forgives you.
      Jessi doesn't give a damn about you. Same as ALL women.
      Can you guess who I am ?? Haha

      wavygr ...She was a superstar, for that moment in time, when I’m Not Lisa and Blue Eyes crossed onto the Top Charts. Plus the Outlaws album, as well as her own albums. But that special time in the 1970s passed quickly, and she dialed herself down to have a baby and look after Waylon. That’s a good hearted woman. She had looks and talent enough to even be a big movie star, but I think she was just happy being with her ramblin’ man. She’s now a legend, too. And deservedly.

    GREAT renditions of Ramblin' Man & Rainy Day Woman by Waylon, but wow --Jessi steals the show by a hair (or a do-rag) on this one. Pure magic and in top voice for her numbers. Tompall was pretty good, but he didn't have the sheer personal charisma of a Waylon or a Jessi. The talent just radiated off of Mr. and Mrs.

    • @anthonyfoutch3152

      Jessi could had been a superstar too but she decided to support Waylon.

    • @jonathankieranwriter
      @jonathankieranwriter 2 роки тому +1

      @@anthonyfoutch3152 Yes, she made a difficult but deliberate decision. Most marriages where the man and woman are not only famous but even competing in the marketplace of show business do no survive. Jessi had her blockbuster success with “I’m Not Lisa”, “What’s Happened to Blue Eyes” and her classic Capitol albums (as well as ‘Wanted: The Outlaws,’ of course) but she chose to fight for her husband’s health and cool her own jets.
      It was a great move, because I believe we would have lost Waylon much earlier to OD if she had not stood her ground and made a loving effort. Waylon said it himself. And as a result, we got all the great Highwayman years with Waylon and more amazing albums from him.
      But Jessi was a unique, mysterious talent. Still is.

    • @jonathankieranwriter
      @jonathankieranwriter 2 роки тому +1

      @@anthonyfoutch3152 … Oh yeah. You’ve got that right. Hot stuff and bedroom eyes for days. On her looks alone it’s surprising that she did not branch out into films and all sorts of other media aside from her very intimate, poetic music. But, in her biography, she said (direct quote) that she was “not interested in building the kind of huge teams that Dolly Parton and Barbra Streisand were assembling at the time to reach new levels.”
      She wasn’t speaking negatively about either woman, in any way, but admitted that, in order to stay at a certain level in the industry, a female artist had to build that sort of infrastructure. Her admission was also an implication (in my opinion) that she knew she *could* have gone in that direction, and that she was urged by certain execs in the industry to go that route … but her marriage really did come first for her, as well as her spirituality/faith. My only regret is that she stopped releasing records altogether or even trying to sell her original music after 1981, when in fact she mentions that she still has several albums’ worth of unreleased original, recorded material in her personal library.
      Her voice and style were/are unique. I always kind of wished she had reemerged as the straight-up blues, rock-pop chanteuse she always really was … with that gritty Western/roadhouse country edge.
      Oh well. If she gets one more album out, the one she recorded with Margo Price’s band, it’ll be a triumph. Her 2006 ‘Ashes’ album, produced by Don Was, is still one of the best records I’ve ever heard from the Aughts. Top-level work, like her best Capitol stuff. Greasy and swampy and funky. Fingers crossed.

      Jessica VanDyke, Have you read Waylon’s 1996 autobiography, or the book written by Waylon’s oldest son, Terry? All three books are absolutely fantastic! Terry (who Waylon had when he was only 19) worked for his dad for many years, and called Waylon a wonderful, understanding father. Waylon is very honest in his autobiography about his addictions. The best thing about the autobiography is that Waylon wrote it without “badmouthing” anyone. His love for Jessi and all 7 of his children is very obvious. Plus, he included a lot of pictures. I highly recommend all three books.
