SPREAD THE METAL LIKE A PLAGUE!
NIN nails was the moment when the 80’s became the 90’s. I remember watching broken and being so terrified and enchanted.
Aw yeah. I always loved The Fragile for its creation of different atmospheres, soundscapes, and styles. Another album that’ll age flawlessly
downward spiral is a 10/10 album it's such a awesome album my favorite songs on the album are reptile the becoming and march of the pigs
Killer album
Just got finished listening to the downward spiral, let’s just say I’m a different man now
Glad to hear! Now listen to The Fragile
Sorry to hear about your depression bro
Queen 2 also came out today
As did Superunknown
I was a teenager when this album was released. I'm kinda obsessed with this album, I have the CD, the EPs, the Cassette (on a transparent version, with a slipcase, looks cool), and the anniversary vinyl. Also I still have some magazines with posters, interviews and ads, also The Crow ads. Still looking for the Closure VHS Box Set.
Closure shouldn’t be too hard to find on ebay or discogs
Thank you for getting me into Nine Inch Nails.
Glad I could do so
One of the best industrial albums ever made. I bought the album back in 2008 after I listened to them for the first time. From rushing pace of "March of the Pigs" to the dark "Closer", from the crushing "Reptile" to the calmness of "A Warm Place", this album is a must have for every fan of industrial music and NIN. Trent Reznor is forever a legend.
2008 was a great time to be a fan
This and early Ministry albums were the soundtrack to my life for a long, long time.
For myself as a kid, The Downward Spiral coming out the same day as Soundgarden's Superunknown was the ultimate Christmas gift. I had plenty of great riffs to headbang to that year.
Saw both bands in 2014, such a great show
Downward spiral is such a good album I’ve listened to it so many times
Doesn’t get old
@@KillbotAndGorGorAttack it really doesn’t
I found this masterpiece in the summer of 1995. I was 13, and it quickly became the soundtrack to my life. I'd never heard anything like NIN, and I couldn't stop listening. It fascinated me, and kind of scared me too. Listening to it now takes me right back, and A Warm Place always brings me to tears. It's amazing how music transcends time.
So much of his music is timeless and adaptable like that. Even Still, as stripped down as it is, won’t age a day. I’ll listen to it 20 years from now and it’ll probably hit just as hard
Between revisiting this beast and Priest’s new album, we’re eatin good tonight 🤘🏻🤘🏻
Aw yeah
A life changing album and also a masterpiece.
You bet
"That door has seen some shit."
😂😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣
It really has
My favorite album of all time, an album so good I feel the need to own 7 copies (and counting).
Definitely an album worth purchasing multiple times
@@KillbotAndGorGorAttack absolutely. I got the 94 cd, a 2000's repressing, deluxe, dual disc, Japanese import, 94 cassette and 2017 definitive edition vinyl
I bought this album when it came out when I was in HS, hot off the heels of discovering KMFDM.
I loved Year Zero when it came out. It didn't leave my CD player for weeks
I love YZ now. The sound design is insane
Closer was heavily in MTV rotation and dance clubs when it was released. I remember it as being basically inescapable. I remember the video for March of the Pigs and it's single camera shot take being good. I never did bother to seek out a NIN live show, but we've seen and heard about the chaos that was then vicariously. It is striking to hear you claim you weren't alive, which only makes me feel horribly dated, as I remember it well. The '90s were a strange time, but I feel it was America's last f'ng party.
I'm sure I still have a CD copy from then somewhere. I haven't listened to the whole album in ages. I think my x-wife did the Colombia House 13 CDs for a penny if some of you old heads remember those days.
Your Grind On message is in my cash stash envelope every day.
Ahh Columbia House, I got a few of those in my collection. Something else I wasn’t alive for!
Great review! This album means so much to me and shaped so much of who I am today. BTW, love your Ministry shirt ❤
Thank you! Big Ministry fan here, did a few videos on them
30! Damn I'm getting old. This album was the soundtrack of my youth. One of many albums of course.
Was trying to set comment moderation to “off,” and accidentally turned off the comment section. Oops! Comment away!
Bought it when it first came out which was kinda crazy because industrial wasn't my thing, nor is it now, but there was something different with this album. Such a beautiful piece of art and I love to revisit it from time to time.
Great coverage my friend 🖤
Thank you so much!
I bought this album when it first came out - one of my favorite albums. Nine Inch Nails albums are awesome.
Just one of the best bands ever
I remember first hearing this and pretty hate machine 4 years ago when I was 15 and an edgy teen, and NIN immediately became one of my fav bands
Just the right age
Gets better with every listen. I got to enjoy the new midnight album today too
Very well presented! I was the same age as you when it was released... and I agree that it's barely aged.
Great shit, sir!
Thank you so much!
The Downward Spiral gets constant play on my Ipod.I have boughten this album four times in my life. Bought it on cassette in 1996. Rebought it on cd in 1998. I thought I lost my cd and bought it again in 2013. Found the deluxe edition in 2022 for $1.
It’s an album worth buying multiple times
It's another of those albums I need to pay closer attention to. So nice to get the experience of a fellow who came later on and could give it his full attention. Wow, Closer was a scandal? I shouldn't be surprised. It was just sort of there when I was in my whatever age it was. Still, this presentation expresses sharper focus needed to give full credit to the endeavour. Thank you!
I mean, have ya seen the uncensored video? Fun fact, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame had the spinning Trent dummy from the video as an exhibit last time I went
@@KillbotAndGorGorAttack I don't know a I have seen the uncensored. True
Such an influential album. One of my personal faves and inspirations for making music, with one of my mashup albums being a similar story to TDS. God damn do i love this album to bits
There’s a hilarious mashup of Closer and Funkytown
@@KillbotAndGorGorAttack the way there are so many hilarious closer mashups from funky town to fireflies to stayin' alive to hit me baby one more time
I was in High School when this came out, still one of my favorite albums!
One of the best bands ever, thnx for this🤘killbot
Thank you!
I remember the debate was Soundgardens SuperUnknown vs NIN The Downward Spiral
At 11 years in 1994, I had both records and had a hard time debating which one was better.
Over time, as you pointed out, it took years for me to really absorb and pick up all the details of each song.
It was a very difficult record to listen to similar to Ministry’s Filth Pig.
Dark, heavy, cold, and disturbing
All three are great albums. Managed to see Soundgarden open for NIN in 2014. Much better live band than an album band. RIP Chris.
I feel like Nine Inch Nails blended in both Modern and Retro. I also think that Nine Inch Nails blended numerous genres of music with pop, synth, rock, metal, and of course Industrial. It's such a unique band.
GREAT album, and fantastic review/recollection of your experience with it.
Thank you so much!
I had this on tape in my teens.... Im taking my fiber and going to bed soon. At least Trent Reznor is aging like a fine wine, dude looks great!
He looks amazing, especially for a guy who now has five kids!
This is such an amazing cd. I used to own it as a teenager. Had to hide it. 😅 However, I did not even know who NIN was in 94.
Haha yeah I had to hide mine, too
@@KillbotAndGorGorAttack 😁
This album has my favorite guitar solo of all time (so far at least)
Which is?
@@KillbotAndGorGorAttack Ruiner!
With Teeth was my first NIN album. Under rated album I think. After that I went back though the catalog. Love NIN.
With Teeth is excellent, always loved it
A perfect album, its super rare but i give A 10/10 for this one
I agree
Nice I just got the Broken VHS and have the delux and double sided remaster edition of it
Broken movie is also on Vimeo and looks great
God bless Nine Inch Nails, I hope for a new album by Trent and Atticus. Liked your video!
Thank you! Me too. I like the new stuff, even if some people don’t
Okay so you utilized a band that I dig to remind me how old am I getting... Damn it. Lol
Haha! I’ve heard that a time or two when sharing this video around
I'm 19 and still new to nin it's an amazing band ( or just Trent)
When the 50 anniversary comes, Trent will have to change the band name to 'Broken 4 Inch Nails'
Such a sick album, even if you don't like NiN, this album is singularly good.
Great band! NIN, my favorite is With Teeth
Love the drum sound on that album, so hard and full
@@KillbotAndGorGorAttack Yes!
The best version of the album is the instrumental version, fite me
I heard a lot of it on the remix site around 2008/9
This Album is Trent's best work, IMO. I'm ready to see Manson live this year. Manson, Slaughter to Prevail are going to be awesome. I could live without Five Finger Death Punch, but I've seen worse live shows than them.
Manson’s probably dipping his toes in the water with everything going on, that’s probably why he’s on an opening slot
2nd best album ever made (just beat by human = garbage imo) 🤘
So great
about as old as you.
whats it like being old enough to see the big bang, ww1 ww2, crusades, fall of rome, fall of athens, rape of nanking, and other great historical events
Morbid Angel, “Ageless, Still I Am”
Đorđe Martinović (also spelled Djordje Martinovic; Serbian Cyrillic: Ђорђе Мартиновић; 1929 - 6 September 2000) was a Serb farmer from Kosovo who was at the center of a notorious incident in May 1985, when he was treated for injuries caused by the insertion of a bottle into his anus. The Martinović affair, as it became known, turned into a cause célèbre in Yugoslav politics. Although the facts of the incident remained in dispute for years afterwards, it played a role in worsening ethnic tensions between Kosovo's Serb and Albanian populations.[1]@@KillbotAndGorGorAttack
Closer is the lamest nin song. When the song came out. Non nin fans loved it. Overplayed on radio
They change it up live
@@KillbotAndGorGorAttack I saw them with David bowie in Chicago back in the day. I'm not dissing nin. Just don't like that song.
