    Great video Ryan. One question that you didn't get that might be interesting in future..... you are one of the all time best at big meet competitions, what is your mental focus going into a big meet and how is it that you are able to respond to another throwers big throw, with your own PR on your next throw so often? World Champs you threw your first 75 foot throw right after Kovacs, and going back a few years, you went over 74ft first time after Joe hit a big throw at nationals. Incredible competitor you are!!

    I'm a sprinter, and as someone who is very interested in maximising performance and just training in general, this video was absolutely brilliant. Seeing a top level guy be so enthusiastic to help people and share such genuine knowledge is really brilliant. I think its very important that elite guys like yourself help out up and coming athletes and engage with the community. Its something that my own event seriously lacks which I find quite disappointing. I shared your channel on the track and field sub-reddit on reddit and I think a lot of people seemed interested in it. There is a great community on there and I'd encourage you yourself to promote your channel on there to grow your audience. Really enjoying the videos though Ryan, keep it up👍👍

    Have you picked up the discus since high school? Curious to see how far you could throw one. Could be the modern John Godina.

    I have literally done what you said about basically over hyping yourself with pump up music much too early before the meet! Learned that the hard way😅

    Hey Ryan, I’m wondering what you diet is. Is it similar to things that powerlifters or strongman do or is it something different.

    You should do a video on what are the best shot puts to get and where to find them. I am a high schooler and I am looking to defend my state title but during my first title my shot got disqualified because of dents. So I had to through someone else's shot and beat my PR by 3 feet to win the title! Amazing day! But I need a new shot out for this upcoming outdoor season for high school. Just wondering what the best resource for that would be!

    Ryan, can you please share what age you started training for throwing and what age you started lifting weights?

    • @RyanCrouser23
      @RyanCrouser23  2 роки тому +2

      Started in 6th grade and I was doing light lifting at the time. I think lifting at that age is very beneficial when done in moderation with emphasis on technique

      Watch the how to reverse video and work on non reverse throws until you feel yourself keeping contact with the ground until after the shot has left your hand

    Hey Ryan! I threw in college years ago ending in 2008. I signed up for Usatf Masters Indoor nationals! I haven't touched a shot since 08. Shoes came today and shot came the other day. What would your focus be over the next 3 weeks to go from couch to meet! Thank you!

    • @RyanCrouser23
      @RyanCrouser23  2 роки тому +2

      I would try to find a balance between throwing and feeling good/healthy. Weight room won’t really do much in 3 weeks besides make you sore so I would focus on throwing at moderate effort every other day to try to maximize improvement

    • @RyanCrouser23
      @RyanCrouser23  2 роки тому +2

      I do, I think it can help, but when it comes to meets less is more. With the nervous energy that comes with a meet it is easy to feel overstimulated with too much caffeine
