Shed a tear even for Screech who was as much a product of his background as Jenny and Violet. Jenny’s reaction was frozen silence like her mother. Screech’s violence like his father. History repeats and we should have compassion for all three in this tale. As Ren says “it’s such a shame”
Very few songs hit me like this piece of art. As a child of dv who became a perpetrator of dv before seeking help and saving myself from the cycle I grew up this is what scared me. The fear of what would happen if I didn't change. Luckily I did and now I'm the happiest I've ever been

Spot on reaction. My take on it is the cycle of violence over subseqent generations, and the relationship between domestic violence and street violence. Violet was abused by her father, she met a young man (stevie) who also abused her and was pregnant with twins, Jenny grew up to be just like her mother Violet (a silent girl), and Screech ended up just like his father (psychotic/violent). The twins were separated at birth and never knew each other until the night they both died. Such a shay-ay-ay-ay-ame...
You absolutely nailed it in your reaction. Undoubtedly a horrendous trilogy in subject matter, but the beauty is Ren's storytelling... I'm knocked out by each and every reaction, I think because of Ren himself, but when I see a beautiful reaction, I simply have to take the time to comment. Also, glad Ren helped me find your channel (got to give him credit for that.. goodness knows I give him credit for all else he does and he deserves it. He deserves so much) I look forward to more of your content in the future. Good luck to you and all you do.
He captures you. Thats what it is. Not just your attention, but the actual essence of you. He captures you and makes you feel it, all of it, and doesnt release you until the story is told, the message is brought forth. And it stays with you, too. It ruminates. Very few artist, in any genre, are able to do that. How many artists have ever captured you like Ren does? Truly captured you as he can?
Nice reaction, thanks for taking the time to share it. On Ren's YT channel he has the video of the Instagram stories he told in the lead up to the release of this. He made it seem as if his phone had been really stolen (by Screech) and even deleted his contacts etc to make it seem genuine, and then had 'Screech' taking videos with the stolen phone, with his 'posse' who included his girlfriend and Patrick. The videos were so realistic that Instagram threatened to delete his account. It adds a bit more to the background of Screech. There is a further video 'In morte, ut in vita, numquam partiemur' on his channel that shows the bit after Screech has been shot to further enhance the story. Love the eyes by the way!
Another parallel is that Jenny and Screech drew their first breaths one crib apart, and then drew their last one street apart. It's great how angry and upset he emotes during the end portion of Violet's Tale.
YOU got me started on the Ren rabbit hole journey. I was reacting to James Blunt and crying over the song to his dad. Your thumbnail caught my eye. I watched Hi Ren with you and I was hooked...also, I cried more. Thank you!
You can tell he got a shit load of inspiration from the live videos of REN and Sam Thompkins oringinal Blind Eyed (parking lot attendant edition) Especially the comments under that video praising how the acoustics changed as him and sam walked through the parking garage
Awesome reaction:) - the eyelid thing was creepy AF. For something on the lighter/amazing side...."I Shot The Sheriff/Road To Zion/Hip Hop" with the band he's in The Big Push -they're on a break atm. I hope they do some more stuff when Ren's better -they're on good terms:)
The saddest thing about this is the fact each of these things are happening in every town, city, and country at this very moment and the cycle continues
You found a perfect label 'Modern Day Shakespeare'. Loved your reaction! All of Ren's work is original but he also makes masterful covers with The Big Push and Sam Tomkins. You will like chalk outlines with Chinchilla.
Visceral - the word you were looking for. I will be copying and pasting this to basically all reaction videos I watch because it seems like everyone is looking for this word. Great video.
Ren would be the single best guitar salesman. Client: Oh what's this? Ren: a guitar. You can play music on it but also use it as a door to knock on, a gun, a drum, a spasming stab victim, a time machine. Well thats just some of the uses I've discovered so far but I'm pretty sure you can cook on this too 😅😆
You have a great gift in understanding music. Understanding OUR Women is a lesson some men don't understand. I am ashamed of those of my gender who behave this way, who truly are destroying themselves fighting against the greatest gift to humanity, the Woman. Know your value. Stay Strong!
Watch some of his street performances , ( busking ) with the band The big push. Or his duet with Chinchilla, who by the way is so Talented, she is BARDCORE as well. Chalk outline, How to be me .
will do , im sure hes just as great live and i feel like street performances would just suit him super well i dunno why i just get that vibe that he would kill it
It does go by a little quickly. Violet was the mother of Jenny and Screech, the 2005 referring to the year Violet’s tale takes place. 14 years before the trilogy was released in 2019. The ‘history repeats itself’ refers to Stevie being a piece of shit like Violet’s dad. The song really captures cycles of violence really well.
- Violet's mother and father... silent and violent. - Violet and Stevie... silent and violent. - Jenny and Screech... silent and violent. History repeating itself for three generations... lather... rinse... repeat.
Only by some twist of fate, Screech ended the cycle. Neither he nor Jenny will have kids, so the generational violence and silence stops with them. Tragedy, or miracle? Vilain, or hero?
@@BassistInATutu - Jenny's tale was the saddest of all. Throughout the tale, there's hints that she's a prostitute. She likely grew up in foster care, and was probably abused. And by age 14, she's walking the streets at night in high heels... the same streets she's walked a thousand times before. This means she was probably a runaway, and on her own by age 12.
Ren's skill as a storyteller really took me by surprise, Hi Ren left me stunned, this trilogy broke me, Violet's tale was so unexpected, so gritty, so sad.
I'm on a binge of watching this video because even though I know what happens I'm still just as surprised and enjoying it for the umpteenth time. Awesome reaction, much love! It's fun to see someone get as awestruck as you did yourself the first time!
Sick Boi from Ren is really good. Well anything from Ren good. He can do pretty much any genre. Also his busking videos with his band Big Push are amazing. If you want another artist then NF - Hope is amazing and has same vibes but with bigger budget.
ive been hearing a lot about NF i still havent listened to any of his music but ill be adding them to the list.. i have a tooooooon of songs on the list that i need to get through haha but ill make sure i get to those as well ^^ thank you
un fact he was actually signed to sony records, also since the mid 2000s knife crime in england and london has been on the rise and the story of jenny and screech was based on a true story but violet he wrote 3 years after the posting of the jenny and screech uploads so jenny and screech videos were uploaded 4 years ago and violets was uploaded 1 year ago, so the type of music ren does is called bardcore music. lastly Hi ren and this trilogy was done live but also as a 1 take and it took multiple takes cause people kept interupting him
Excellent vid, you're doing great so far. Ren is a real life Bard, in the most historically literal since possible. Learned skills go far, but only so far. Imo, Ren is what you get when someone lets all of the pain and hardship they experience and their pure humanity flow unrestricted into their craft. You almost go to a place of derailed sanity, but you create works that any and every other human recognize and can't deny. Anyways, good job, keep it up. 👍🍺
Good reaction. I'm glad you took the great advice from Hi Ren comments and turned off the captions. My only issue was I could barely see your reactions as you were in the smaller box while the Artist was full screen. In my opinion it should be flipped. Of course Patrick didn't answer... he was "Busy" with his girl... who was also "Busy" when he called her... they were together!!! Much more to the Story!!!
I discovered Ren about 2 months ago and have become sort of addicted to watching reactions to his videos. Jenny and Screech's reactions to each other are a bit confusing without the info that they are twins. There was a recognition at some level which caused Jenny to freeze and stare. That, in turn, caused Screech to become threatened and to lash out, setting the events in motion.
51 yr old dude here and I have teared up to about 10 Ren songs now. I think in this one he also continues the theme that we all have light (jenny) and dark (screech) inside us (violet).
"we all have light (jenny) and dark (screech) inside us (violet)" That is a SOLID take my man. Ive watched this video and multiple reactions and have been watching carefully all the details and nuances but i did NOT pick up on what you just said and it is so true. Cheers!
Ren wants the streets to know that when you go and hurt the world, you never know how you hurt your own when you target. Ren wants the streets to know that when you go and hurt the world, the pain you use to justify yourself maybe be suffered by your target.
I love that skull fabric on your bed. I had some yardage of a print like that and made pillows for my daughter. She loves skulls, also matching towel trim and pot holders for her kitchen. Just some fun stuff. I also made the toothpaste error, but it was a tube of ben gay ointment for muscle aches. It was not easy getting that washed out of my mouth. Ren is not just an artist, he is a genius storyteller! I've heard this no less than 50 times already and it gets me every single time! I too suffer from chronic illness, so every song he does seems to hit me even harder then I'd like to even admit...
I'm a grown 33yr old man and that part hits me. I was screech in this tale. A child of drug induced dv who became the person he feared as a child. Luckily for me I had people around me catch me and lead me down a path of redemption and solace. Now I'm happier then I've ever been and I feel nothing can ever hinder me again
@Sydnee xxceasy yeah and what hits hard is that screech could have had a better life he could have been better we all.are a product of our enviroment however some things pass down like mental conditions screechs over powered him and we see that he was remorseful for what he had done to jenny when he was trying to talk to patrick
I realized this yesterday !!! i couldnt believe it and i was over the moon, i made a thank you video (even though i dont think thats enough and wish i could do more for everyone ) - ill be putting out and more reaction videos! thank you so much for the support everyones been awesome
He gives a hint throughout Violet’s Tale about the surprise ending, he released Jenny and Screech’s Tales in 2019 and in Screech’s Tale he mentions James(Screech) is 14 years old. Well throughout Violet’s Tale he repeats 2-0-0-5, 2005 to 2019= 14 years old.
yea i heard the 2 -0 - 0 - 5 i guess i didnt do the math ont he spot , great catch in the tale i totally missed that listening to it for the first time
I think that what was happening with jenny and screech was that they were sent into the system because violet died and their father went to prison. So they were orphans and never knew each other and just happened to meet up in a terrible way. Kind of a commentary on how violent and disassociated we have gotten, that the violence doesnt really even bother us anymore
ooooh that also would make more sense with the first two parts of how he engaged her because it definitely didn't seem like Screech knew her... For some reason at the end i just assumed/believed that the father had gotten away with it and those poor kids would have to grow up with him.. Thank you so much for the input haha cant believe i missed that
@@AnaguelReact also, as they are twins, Jenny is also 14, she is wearing high heels and walking a familiar street a thousand times before, in screech's tale he refers to her as a 'lady' which indicates he perceived her as being much older. She was likely walking the street late as a 'lady of the night'...
Maybe you are tearing up because your soul is accepting how sad and horrible this story is before your brain can. lol. i dont mean that in a bad way. Great reaction. I subcribed for you.

I’m assuming they were siblings, but with their mom dead then probably their dad went to prison they were raised in foster care so didn’t know each other which is how I took it
Whats sad is this tale is as old as time. Im a son of a dv abusive father. Who became the same person. As my stepdad. But luckily before i ever went to far my real dad stepped in and him and my step mom saved my life and my daughter and her mom. I grew up swearing id never be that sack of shit yet fate had other plans. But now 12 years later im the happiest and most motivated ive ever been. Therapy can save lives

I look forward to more of your content in the future.
Thank you!
awe im glad , i hope you are enjoying Ren!
You can tell he got a shit load of inspiration from the live videos of REN and Sam Thompkins oringinal Blind Eyed (parking lot attendant edition)
Especially the comments under that video praising how the acoustics changed as him and sam walked through the parking garage
I think tearing up is the normal reaction to this and Hi Ren. Especially after you know it well.
The saddest thing about this is the fact each of these things are happening in every town, city, and country at this very moment and the cycle continues
yep this is true
You found a perfect label 'Modern Day Shakespeare'. Loved your reaction! All of Ren's work is original but he also makes masterful covers with The Big Push and Sam Tomkins. You will like chalk outlines with Chinchilla.
Visceral - the word you were looking for. I will be copying and pasting this to basically all reaction videos I watch because it seems like everyone is looking for this word. Great video.
Gorgeous reaction to a gorgeous trilogy of terrible tales told terrifically. by a gorgeous young lady with a gorgeous and sensitive soul.
Finally, I found someone who bothers to say how good his acting is. Aside from the guitar intro, the acting is the best part of Screech's Tale.
Ren would be the single best guitar salesman.
Client: Oh what's this?
Ren: a guitar. You can play music on it but also use it as a door to knock on, a gun, a drum, a spasming stab victim, a time machine. Well thats just some of the uses I've discovered so far but I'm pretty sure you can cook on this too 😅😆
hahah i just love this comment, and now im picturing the a salesman doing this
I’m so glad you got.. it’s amazing how many people don’t get it. Great reaction!!!
You have a great gift in understanding music. Understanding OUR Women is a lesson some men don't understand. I am ashamed of those of my gender who behave this way, who truly are destroying themselves fighting against the greatest gift to humanity, the Woman. Know your value. Stay Strong!
Great reaction. I love these 3 songs and you did them justice with your genuine ability to listen and react appropriately to the story. 👏
I listen to his music to go to sleep to. Ren is definitely a creative genius. Want more singing, check out his version of I Shot The Sheriff
will do thank you so much, i also want to check out his version of bitter sweet symphony because i love that song
Ren's skill as a storyteller really took me by surprise, Hi Ren left me stunned, this trilogy broke me, Violet's tale was so unexpected, so gritty, so sad.
One of my favorite reactions to this trilogy! You are very authentic. Cheers from California!
Ren is dope. This reaction was dope. And Anaguel is dope! Keep doing what you do!
If you want another artist then NF - Hope is amazing and has same vibes but with bigger budget.
ive been hearing a lot about NF i still havent listened to any of his music but ill be adding them to the list.. i have a tooooooon of songs on the list that i need to get through haha but ill make sure i get to those as well ^^ thank you
un fact he was actually signed to sony records, also since the mid 2000s knife crime in england and london has been on the rise and the story of jenny and screech was based on a true story but violet he wrote 3 years after the posting of the jenny and screech uploads so jenny and screech videos were uploaded 4 years ago and violets was uploaded 1 year ago, so the type of music ren does is called bardcore music. lastly Hi ren and this trilogy was done live but also as a 1 take and it took multiple takes cause people kept interupting him
Respect for the craft gets you an instant new subscriber. These three tales always make me cry honestly. I love these. Thanks for reacting to these.
You are the star of the channel as we are here to see YOUR reactions. Most of us who watch reactions pretty much have already seen the videos. Thanks for the great reaction!
haha i totally understand you on that, just... ill be honest , im very insecure thats why i put it smaller but its just something i have to get over and just do it! ill try when i do some more over the weekend because youre absolutely right and if anything i want to make the content better for you guys ^^
@@AnaguelReact Cool. I can't wait to see you do more Ren.

You are a wonderful reactor and miss no nuance! ❤ love from the UK 🇬🇧👍
Chalk Outlines RenXChinchilla live next 🙂
I'm a man at nearly 40 and don't understand how i could NOT tear up for this.
I could really feel this one through your view and though I’ve heard the song 30 times or so and have had a myriad of reactions just like Hi Ren, and I could really feel it through especially Violets take this time with more intensity. You’re good at this
Brilliant reaction to this GENIUS. Loved it ♥️
Subscribed in anticipation of you reacting to more Ren.
Cheers 👍😀
Reacters are gaining a lot of mileage out of Ren's content. It would be nice if you all verbally encourage your followers to subscribe to his channel 🤔
Your reactions are very good and you have a new subscriber with this one. ♥ I would definitely recommend his collaboration with Chinchilla for the live version of "Chalk Outlines" which I can't stop listening. Chinchilla is also talented AF and have an *unearthly* beautiful voice.
Of course Patrick didn't answer... he was "Busy" with his girl... who was also "Busy" when he called her... they were together!!! Much more to the Story!!!
We all tear up for Violet's Tale.
Ren is a gift.
Cheers!
@@jorel80 Thanks, but can't take the big brain credit. I think I saw Ren say something similar in one of his interviews (on twitch?).
Thankfully I stopped before too much got into my mouth. Next time I am always sure to have the light ON and wearing my glasses. LOL
hahah glad im not the only one :P thank you the skull fabric is old but i can try hunt down where i got it from and maybe you can get one for your daughter! i love skulls and dragons so if you need any help picking stuff out feel free to reach out haha i love looking for cute skull stuff like that
@@AnaguelReact I have quite a lot of fabric, as I am a quilter and seamstress. But thanks anyway, appreciate it. I still have the skulls fabric and another like it I keep just for my daughter. I do not at the moment have any dragon fabric, I love dragons!! I would love to see the dragon fabric. Anyway, my daughter is almost 50 years old and has strange taste in styles and music, etc. Creates art just doing her own hair! Fun lady. LOL Thanks again! :)♥
A great reaction, really glad you enjoyed the trilogy... the boy is a talented and skilled story teller! There's plenty more of his stuff worth a listen to (my favourite has to be bitter sweet symphony retake) if you are open to other suggestions for other music/bands, I think you should check out Babybird- unlovable... an absolute hidden gem with a beautiful and really clever video. Stephen Jones (babybird singer) is a masterful and poetic lyricist... its a song that went shamefully under the radar and deserves more exposure! Loving your channel and so glad I found it... looking forward to seeing what else you check out x
oh absolutely, open to all suggestions! ill note this one down so i can get around to it!
I seen many reaction videos to Ren and I like how you put things and seeing real emotions from you. Looks like you just started your channel and I'm rooting for you! Keep it up I subscribed as your # 650 subscriber! 🎉🔥💯👍
First time I've watched one of your reactions Anaguel, I think I'll be watching some more. There's a couple of good videos of him singing with Chinchilla - ' Chalk Outlines ' and ' How To Be Me ', and if you want to see a more fun side to Ren check out his rap video ' What You Want '. 😊
ooh a fun one would be nice ill add that one
Just subscribed!!!!
YOU HAVE NOW BECAME MY FAVORITE REACTOR! Your mics set Perfectly, put yourself in smaller box so audience can see the video.. and YOUR PERSPECTIVE IS SPOT ON AT GET GO 👌 👏 YOU ACTUALLY LISTEN TO THE STORY....LOVE 💘 IT!!! WELL DONE...BIG FAN!
Great reaction. Ren has other powerful songs including collaborations with a singer called Chinchilla, one is called chalk outlines but my favourite is how to be me.
I have to add that all of Ren's songs and retakes are genius. Check out love music 1 2 and 3 or money game 1 and 2... Actually check all of his work out, it's all fantastic
Ren is not just an artist, he is a genius storyteller! I've heard this no less than 50 times already and it gets me every single time! I too suffer from chronic illness, so every song he does seems to hit me even harder then I'd like to even admit...
he absolutely is!!
You teared up because you're human.
He is a modern day bard
Enjoyed your reaction. I just subscribed . Looking forward to seeing your other reactions.
Yes, Violet's tale hits a little differently when you're a woman. He definitely did a unique take on the genre of the murder ballad.

@@AnaguelReact GL with u'r channel...will be checking in...MdLsa🏴☠
Well you got my sub :) lots of love from Greece
Beautiful reaction…feel you need an uplift…try his band The Big Push live performances…so many great covers
New subscriber. Here for Ren and Electric Callboy!!
This is Rens way of showing us the cycle of abuse. If you know you know.
Good reaction. Ren is a crazy talent.
Damn, I love your aesthetic!
Maybe you are tearing up because your soul is accepting how sad and horrible this story is before your brain can. lol. i dont mean that in a bad way. Great reaction. I subcribed for you.
Unfortunately this is his only tale type video. I’m guessing his illness halted a lot of it along with covid and just life. I’m sure there will be more to come tho 💜
Beautiful reaction.
Well worth a follow!
Lol,,I did the same a few years ago. Brushed my teeth with Neosporin by accident bc I didn't have my glasses on🤦♀️
Fantastic reaction! Subscribed! :)
Chalk outlines is a great next for you. X
lol I kept moving my mouse to get rid of the YT tool bar at the bottom, only to realize it's yours! 😆 As for the songs: _domestic violence and how the cycle perpetuates..._
LOL sorry im still a nooblet at these reacts im going to use the keyboard more :P and thanks for the suggestions ill be adding those to my list and hopefully get around to them soon
in door he wearing socks, outdoor he is bear foot, its cleverly design as one take ,i have to admit.
I’d suggest Sick Boi next.
I’m assuming they were siblings, but with their mom dead then probably their dad went to prison they were raised in foster care so didn’t know each other which is how I took it
soooo good! Amount I moved my mouse thinking I'm pausing :L
U deserve a follower I just now subscribed
Whats sad is this tale is as old as time. Im a son of a dv abusive father. Who became the same person. As my stepdad. But luckily before i ever went to far my real dad stepped in and him and my step mom saved my life and my daughter and her mom. I grew up swearing id never be that sack of shit yet fate had other plans. But now 12 years later im the happiest and most motivated ive ever been. Therapy can save lives
Chalk Outlines, next!!
