I think Ren is one of those storytellers, musicians that reaches on a visceral level. I watch the reactions of others to taste the surprise of them again, but also to get what others bring to this table of life. It makes my heart ache a bit, that someone as deeply receptive and lovely has such resonance with this song. We need the catharsis of art. But we also NEED the deep honesty and resilience and appreciation that people like you bring to the table. Please don't doubt your brilliance.

For Chinchilla, she is a young British artist and her own songs are very different from Ren in style and themes but her collaborations with Ren are a tip of an iceberg of her vocal range and performance skills. I think that there is a metaphorical cliff you’re standing on. If you’re afraid to feel OK because all things change, yes you’re waiting for the other shoe to drop. It would be healthier to do what he says in Hi Ren and dance with the light and shadow. One could enjoy the fleeting OK moments and carry the memories into when things aren’t OK as a reminder that those times exist. If you cry, you cry. If you smile you smile. I’m 55 and I have heard a LOT of music. I like hard stuff and I like soft stuff. If there’s a western English music genre of the last 75 years or so, I’m pretty sure I have a favorite artist from it and know generally what it sounds like. Not tryna brag but to say this is the most beautiful duet I’ve heard probably since Billy Preston and Stevie Wonder’s ex Syreeta doing I’m Born Again in like, …78? 79? Heard songs this beautiful but not a male female duet, nope. It’s REN’s best song imo and chinchilla is a revelation. Released last year but everyone’s finding it this year so I’m calling it the song of 2023. PS you’re great just how you are. It’s a never ending dance and remember you’re human.

I think a lot of people do put on a smile and just pretend to others that things are ok. It's often frowned upon to "not be ok" but I think it's important to express that unhappiness. Love seeing you show emotion, how can you not to this song? The two of them connect in such an amazing way and it really intensifies the feelings you get. I love the scene setting at the start, the little details just add to the anticipation. The flickering lights before panning to Chinchilla sat in the corner is just so cinematic. I think the sad reality is that most of us put on a mask to the outside world in order to fit in and function. There's a great song called 'Samaritans' by 'Idles' which talks (shouts!) about toxic masculinity and the damage wearing that mask can do.

Maybe the word is 'integrated'? We tend to want to get rid of these painful parts and wake up magically healed... But the parts won't go away (he made that clear in Hi, Ren!). Love your reaction, it's real, like you. And you're spot on with the chalk outline, it's just a shell. Ren is more referring it to the numb feeling after taking medication and being like a zombie, but it can equally apply to anyone who feels like they're not themselves and feels emotionless or empty inside. I am also someone who hates to show emotion and cry in public, even though I know it's not healthy, but it's just hardwired. So I think you're very brave for doing these reactions and posting them when you've reacted emotionally and hope you continue in the same vein. I'm sure I'm not the only one who empathises with you and wishes we could all be a bit braver.

I’m 55 and I have heard a LOT of music. I like hard stuff and I like soft stuff. If there’s a western English music genre of the last 75 years or so, I’m pretty sure I have a favorite artist from it and know generally what it sounds like. Not tryna brag but to say this is the most beautiful duet I’ve heard probably since Billy Preston and Stevie Wonder’s ex Syreeta doing I’m Born Again in like, …78? 79? Heard songs this beautiful but not a male female duet, nope. It’s REN’s best song imo and chinchilla is a revelation. Released last year but everyone’s finding it this year so I’m calling it the song of 2023.
PS you’re great just how you are. It’s a never ending dance and remember you’re human.

I think a lot of people do put on a smile and just pretend to others that things are ok. It's often frowned upon to "not be ok" but I think it's important to express that unhappiness. If you don't, and you bottle it up, that bottle will break eventually. It's always ok to not be ok. Seek shelter in friends, pets, and family. Never be afraid to cry. Amazing reaction! Love seeing you show emotion, how can you not to this song? The two of them connect in such an amazing way and it really intensifies the feelings you get. I love the scene setting at the start, the little details just add to the anticipation. The flickering lights before panning to Chinchilla sat in the corner is just so cinematic. I think the sad reality is that most of us put on a mask to the outside world in order to fit in and function. There's a great song called 'Samaritans' by 'Idles' which talks (shouts!) about toxic masculinity and the damage wearing that mask can do.

When you learn that he went back home to get rest and take a break when his illness was still undiagnosed and ended up in bed for a year. That line hits even harder at the beginning.

I love your reaction to this song. I still can't watch it without tearing up. When they sing "it's such a perfect day, take it just in case" it really hits home. Maybe the word is 'integrated'? We tend to want to get rid of these painful parts and wake up magically healed... But the parts won't go away (he made that clear in Hi, Ren!). I'm still trying to really learn this... And it's still hard. Also: the crying helps us heal. I've been one to try and push that down and all that does is keep us in that 'dead inside' zone). Love your reaction, it's real, like you. And you're spot on with the chalk outline, it's just a shell. Ren is more referring it to the numb feeling after taking medication and being like a zombie, but it can equally apply to anyone who feels like they're not themselves and feels emotionless or empty inside. I am also someone who hates to show emotion and cry in public, even though I know it's not healthy, but it's just hardwired. So I think you're very brave for doing these reactions and posting them when you've reacted emotionally and hope you continue in the same vein. I'm sure I'm not the only one who empathises with you and wishes we could all be a bit braver.

I know how you feel and so do so many people, including Ren and Chinchila. The chalk outline lyrics hit me hard because I often feel a total disconnect like I'm not even there.
