  • Nigeria's socio-economic challenges are pushing many young, able-bodied men to sell their kidneys without minding the long-term repercussions. One million naira is the 'official' price for a kidney in Abuja's black market of organ trade.
In this documentary, Trust TV provides insights into the shadow economy of illegal kidney trade that may have thrived for many years out of public sight.

As a practising physician, this is appalling. It shows that corruption has eaten deep into the health sector, poverty is also a major factor to this. I pray Nigeria 🇳🇬 will overcome this ordeal.

I know this hospital. I have been on staff. As at 2016, when I left, we were doing quite a few kidney procedures, among other major surgeries. What I never knew was how those organs moved out or got there.
If it is true that minors are coerced into donating there organs, then I see the hospital culpable, if they knew about this, or breeched ethical or legal guardrails
Safeguarding minors is a duty of care for healthcare workers.

Profound indeed!! Thank you Lami Sadiq & Daily Trust.
This will definitely spark some loud conversations and, ultimately, law reforms in the appropriate places.
Another ticking time bomb is the egg harvesting among young girls and women who are also lured with petty payments in exchange for their eggs.

Later, the Police will release him (Bayo) on bail as they did in the cases before him... That's Nigeria for us.

No need covering their faces. We know them, they are working the streets insulting people. Though minor as argued here, but their ways of lives are out of hand.
Greediness is the main issue here, why not inform their parents first, because they want to live above their mates and be seen as big(dirty) boys.
