    Naming everything is definitely annoying!
Like I being a dark redhead is "not real redhead" and "ugly," but girls rush to the salon to get "Cowboy copper" hair, and it's "ThEBeSTreDHAir"
It's the exact same color as mine! You just told me that I look like a mop with it, but since tiktok gave it a cute trend name it is to die for
    *sigh*

“I want to look like myself.” It has taken me 40 years to reach this same conclusion. It breaks my heart to think that younger generations will never reach that level of acceptance because refusing their own faces is all they’ve ever been taught. Social media is so dangerous to everyone’s self esteem. It was bad enough before the internet.

You know what they say: "With age comes wisdom." I'm closing in on 40, and it took me 33 years to accept how I look and who I am. It wasn't until 35-36 that I finally embraced my natural appearance and felt comfortable going out in public without a single drop of makeup on.
I feel some regret that it took me so long to accept myself, but I feel so much worse for young people who have grown up in the age of filters. They never have a chance to be natural or to enjoy their uniqueness. I hope young people will do what we have done -- grow to love ourselves as we age -- but it's so damn difficult nowadays.

this is such a sweet comment, i totally agree :) from a teenage girl’s perspective, i just mean to reassure you that most of us are doing good, and have either healthy or healing relationships with our own faces. i really appreciate that nowadays, i can just glance at myself in the mirror before i leave in the mornings, see my big nose and my big (definitely very messy) hair, and just nod and say "yeah, i look like myself," with familiarity.
but it’s definitely hard, especially when teenagers who can already be so mean now have super inflated ideas of beauty, and will judge based on those standards.

The trend I dislike is buccal fat removal. I feel like it is destroying some beautiful faces, and it is permanent. I would never do something to myself that is forever based on the look of the moment. I just subscribed to your channel - it is fantastic!

What shows a great UA-cam channel is that they don’t follow TikTok mess or influencer marketing , because it’s for children. SoOOOOO true what you said about the addiction and dysmorphic obsession with them. I’ve never been able to put it into words but you did perfectly. Just the same as those horrible 2016 eyebrows… WHY CANT THEY SEE IT?!? And the extensions are actually harmful compared to the eyebrows!! It’s like they don’t feel beautiful without them at all. Which I can relate to! I don’t feel “pretty” without my lashes curled at least. But the look with gigantic, thick, JET BLACK lashes with absolutely nothing else on the skin looks so jarring and odd to me…Some can look good, but so many are distracting from the person and their own individualism and beauty. Which I HATE!

spot on commentary! as an asian american I would also really appreciate it if these "viral trends" such as the clean girl look, dewy skincare, etc. would at least give enough credit where credit is due and recognize that these are nothing revolutionary -- a lot of this stuff was pioneered and prevalent in east asian beauty for well over a decade. fashion trends too -- when I walk into a fast fashion store now, teens are wearing fits that look just like something I would have seen on yesstyle in 2012, and their makeup styles are giving "let me copy your homework I promise won't make it too obvious." the best part is I grew up wearing asian beauty but was always seen as weird for doing so. now gen z really thinks they did something with these "new" styles without actually knowing the source. like I love hailey bieber, but it's crazy that she is now getting credit for something asian girls created years ago🤣

I have dry skin, and I much prefer using skin care to moisturize and hydrate my skin then using a natural finish foundation that dries down on its own. It leaves a natural finish and is only like 5 bucks at target. It’s very lightweight, only downside is that it comes in very VERY bad shade range but the pigment is sheer so maybe you can get away with it 🤷🏻‍♀️

I want to say I don’t care and just age gracefully and naturally but it’s so difficult as a women when a) we’re often valued socially based on attractiveness and youthfulness and b) everyone you see online is having procedures to look more “attractive” or younger. But also there's stressful life events that I've had, I love chocolate and chips, and I don't exercise often anymore so I shouldn't be surprised. And I think our collagen production naturally begins to slow around age 27?
It's all so frustrating, but I'm working on accepting it! I wish our society too would stop hyper focusing on 'anti aging' ( I hate that word, because we can't reverse aging). and looking young forever. I wish society would accept beauty past 27!

I am thankful for my features, that I see reflected on my child every day: her radiant smile, her honest eyes, her chubby cheeks. Ladies, there is beauty in all of us. There is purpose. We are so blessed for being born women. Women are way more powerful than the system wants us to know. They want us worried and ignorant of our own power, so that we don't make good decisions. They want us distracted. Please, the bravest thing you can do is to love yourself. Then go empower other women so that they love themselves too. What this world needs is women loving one another, supporting and uplifting one another. We cannot do that when we are worried about our reflection in the mirror...

    Excellent video!!!
Glad you included the wet skin look in the list, I was seriously getting annoyed so many influencers were promoting it. It doesn't look natural and neither is sustainable.
Also, what you said about black friday is so damn true, I have fallen victim to it initially but as I started being more aware I noticed brands aren't actually giving us things for a lesser price, the price is still the same, they put another fake price which is usually slashed next to the real price and pretend as though they are offering things for a discount.

I haven't watched beauty content for a while because it always made me feel like I had to buy more products or be trendy and as poor gal I just cant keep up with it all, it's really nice to see someone beautiful and genuine be honest about products and unique beauty and not just in it for making money off of our insecurities.

I am SO happy that I found you. You are one of -- if not the -- most honest beauty product reviewer I've watched. And your reviews are actually good! I trust what you say. Thank you! I couldn't agree more about all of this. Btw, I ONLY wear thick sticky glosses that last. Why would anyone want to put something thin and watery on that will last for 30 minutes unless just for a picture (and it costs 30 bucks)? I need my makeup to last for at least half of the day. Buxom is my favorite for this reason. Gorgeous shine, shades, and fullness and they *never* dry out my lips. I'd LOVE a dedicated video just for good lasting lip glosses. :) Thanks again.

This is the first video of yours that I have seen. The way you speak makes it immediately apparent that you are intelligent and have a good sense of humor. Plus common sense and a sense of reality. And I totally agree with all your points. I hope you don't hold it against me - you remind me a bit of Jodie Foster in a very positive way. Anyway, you now have a new subscriber from Germany.

I got filler 5 years ago in my frown lines by the corners of my mouth. I regret it. The filler never left, it instead migrated and now my right corner of my lip is folded over and my lip looks smaller and the wrinkle is deeper. There's also a weird puffiness to the corners on both sides as well. I would not recommend filler at all.

Bravo!! As aware as I am of these trends and "viral" products that are HUGE marketing and consumer-driven ploys, I find myself looking at my sizeable makeup and skincare collection, mostly begun during the pandemic, wondering why I have purchased so many things and why it's not enough to have a couple of items per category. Why am I so obsessed with following the crowd and spending significant amounts of money on every major trend? Why can't I be satisfied with what I have found to work well with my skin and its needs? Thanks for speaking about this subject with such a critical eye - also, I appreciate the racist angles you have exposed. Yes, yes, yes.

OK I really love this whole video and I'm so glad you mentioned filler! I've never gotten it but the women that does my botox told me that studies show filler can stay in you body for TEN YEARS. She primarily only does lip filler on patients now (no under eye or face) because as you said, studies show it doesn't actually break down. So I hope more injectors enlighten their patients on the associated risks!

what a wonderfully refreshing take on beauty - i immediately subscribed. this is the first video on beauty i've consumed in a long time with original opinions, and that wasn't brainrot. it's so easy to get caught up with what's trending on tiktok, that we forget that we're going to have to actually use these products to create day to day looks, and maybe glazed donut face is not the best idea for a work day! i totally agree with all of these takes, and i genuinely appreciate you including BIPOC women in every statement you made. it really makes a difference to be acknowledged

I agree with most of these. The stilettos freak me out bc how does one not stab themselves or wipe comfortably??? I prefer coffin or almond since I have short stubby hands so I need to illusion of length lol. I also don't understand the lip oil stuff but the Rare Beauty "lip oils" slap. My sister & I love them bc they're so natural. Lip Tints/Stains from Korea such as the brand, Peripera are my favorite! I'm more into Kbeauty nowdays esp being Korean American and I think American makeup trends don't look flattering on me.

I’m with you on all of these. I still like the holiday sale season, but I’m glad the sales are lasting longer and feel less urgent than they did when it was literally one day. I feel like Sephora did us dirty for sure though. I wish more places would just have either a coupon or a consistent discount from like Thanksgiving to Christmas. But then there are also so many spring and fall sales events…honestly, unless you need something urgently, there is always a sale right around the corner.

I’m obsessed with the North Sea TikTok’s. I don’t even know how I got there 😂😂. I’m glad I did though!! I don’t follow the trends I just do what I feel like doing on that day. I have hooded eyes so that’s saved me from purchasing a hundred eyeshadow pallets last year. I was sad about that but I came to the realization that they just don’t work for me. Now I just put a little bronzer and blush on my eyes and call it a day. I’m sad about it but it is what it is.

The very first time I saw someone put highlighter on their nose I was like NOOOOOO WHYYY (I think that was more 2021 or 2022 but all the dewy things just still creep me out because I'm ALWAYS shining and can't really fight it effectively :( )
