I use wilko's own baby bottle steriling solution - 1 cap per demijohn. 10 mins to sterilies a baby bottle it says so I figured that was good enough for wine too. So far I've been right. I might try the thin bleach though as it's cheaper.
That's almost exactly the same as how I clean mine. Try placing your demijon in the sink and adding a small quantity of Oxyclean powder (sold in Wilkinsons) It foams up furiously and removes just about everything without even using a brush. Cheers 🍻

simply, yes. you always have to rinse all types sterilizer.
( star San is no rinse but it sanitizes )
