I don’t want to jump to conclusions, but like everybody else, I subscribed because I enjoyed Marty’s personality-his calm pacing and the way I could follow his tutorials just by listening to his voice. The upbeat, heavily edited trailer makes it seem like there’s going to be a major shift in tone, and that worries me. I hope I’m wrong.
We hear you and completely agree, Marty’s voice is legendary. While we won’t have Marty, we are committed to making sure our tutorials are clear, detailed, and easy to follow.
If the fast pace of the promo video felt overwhelming, don’t worry. Our tutorials will be designed for learning at a comfortable speed, and we will be providing more downloadable content so you can follow along with ease.
There is going to be a Marty sized hole in my heart that generative AI fill will not be able to fix.
He is a great guy and we wish him well!
Oh god not AI
I feel ya! Whether we like it or not, that genie is outta the box. We need to use it responsibly or face unfathomable consequences.
AI is definitely part of the creative landscape. Generative fill in Photoshop is already a game changer and the tools will only get better over time. AI will be a key part of the channel moving forward. We know that people have different perspectives on it, and we respect and appreacite that. Our goal is not to replace creativity but to explore how these tools can enhance workflows, unlock new possibilities, and help artists work smarter. The creative world is evolving fast, and we want to make sure our audience stays informed, adaptable, and ahead of the curve.
@@BLTV_Photoshop My issue is the absolute drop of personality. Marty brought a lovely friendly personality to his channel and this trailer and the excessive use of AI in it feels so soulless. I feel we should be pushing for human creativity and not mass slop generators. Yes, AI can be a powerful tool when used properly, but that's a very fine line and is most often not properly abided by. I'm hoping that you toe the line well and avoid chaning the history of this great channel to be yet another techbro AI channel.
I'll give you guys a chance for Marty's sake, but this introductory video isn't exactly promising.
Marty built his entire brand on being a down-to-earth, one-man Photoshop encyclopedia with a no-nonsense approach to specific yet evergreen content. In contrast, this promo video looks like it was designed by some corporate marketing firm specifically to cater to those people in Gen Z and younger interested more in the now touted "type something in and cool s$%t happens" approach rather than building actual skill. How very presumptious of me? Then please, prove me wrong.
Either way, this seems like the YT equivalent of a mom & pop store you'd frequent being bought up by some large supermarket chain. The veneer might be similar, but the substance doesn't look like it will be. Again, prove me wrong please, I'd love you to.
Also, please don't remove Marty's invaluable tutorials. A few months ago something he uploaded ELEVEN YEARS ago was exactly the solution to my problem.
I hear you, and I get the skepticism. But let’s be fair-calling AI tools a “type something in and cool s$%t happens” approach isn’t really fair to the artists using them. There’s real skill in knowing how to use these tools effectively, just like there is real skill in mastering Photoshop.
Just because someone has Photoshop installed on their computer doesn't mean they are good at Photoshop.
When Marty started this channel, plenty of people still dismissed Photoshop as a cheap shortcut that required no real talent. We both know that wasn’t true-it was just a different kind of skill. The same debate happened when digital cameras replaced film, when desktop publishing replaced typesetting, and when synthesizers disrupted traditional music. Every creative breakthrough has been met with resistance, but the craft always evolves.
This channel will continue teaching real skills-Photoshop, AI, and beyond-because creatives today need to understand all the tools available to them. Even if someone chooses not to use AI, it’s still impacting the industry, and knowing how it fits into the creative process is important.
Also, Marty’s tutorials aren’t going anywhere. If there’s one from eleven years ago that helped you, let us know. If there’s a better or faster way to do that today, we’ll revisit it and remake it so the whole community can benefit. The goal has always been to help creatives stay ahead, no matter what tools they use.
@BLTV_Photoshop AI can undoubtedly be used to augment one's creativity. The problems start when people use it as a substitute for both creativity and skill. But that's beside the point at the moment. I respect your willingness to engage with all the different opinions and points of view in the comments and will reserve judgement until you get into the swing of things and the channel's direction becomes clearer.
Wow. Okay, I understand Marty has sold up and moved on, but… I’ll be unfollowing, sadly, I was here for Marty and Photoshop. Nothing and nobody else.
We understand. Best wishes!
You know, if Marty trusts this group, you could give it a try. I’m going to. And AI is here to stay so may as well give it a chance to help you in your work. I’m using it and it speeds up my workflow.
It's so easy to abandon the ship without giving the new creative team a chance...Such a shame, your loss.
My question is if Marty already had plans to sell Blue Lightning TV?
But if these people reached out him just because he had already built a following, that is not right. If their intentions are not honor Marty and everything he has built, then might as well change the name of this channel.
Marty is, and will always be Blue Lightning TV. 🙏☀️
Why generate everything with AI now? Whatever happened with good old human creativity?
I’m a photographer, a painter, a woodworker, and a spectacularly bad karaoke singer... I love the arts in all forms.
I remember when traditional photographers swore Photoshop would ruin photography. Same with digital cameras - they called the images soulless. Musicians complained that synthesizers would ruin music. Every new creative technology causes us to pause and question how it will impact the current art form moving forward.
Now we’re having the same conversation about AI, and it is a healthy one to have. Is generative fill cheating? Should an artist painstakingly hand-paint every detail to fix a photo instead? How do we stay competitive and creative in a world where others are using these tools to do more, faster, and in many cases with a better outcome (there are also lots of cases of horrible outcomes).
At the end of the day, Photoshop artists are creative. AI artists are creative. I believe the tool doesn’t make the artist - the vision and skillset does. Creatives can choose to ignore new tools and technologies, but that doesn’t mean progress will slow down around them, nor will the sifting demands of the work environment.
We’re here to show you what’s possible, and you get to decide if and how you use it.
@@BLTV_Photoshop I get your point and I'm willing to give this change a chance, still I prefer art creation that's more hands-on, personal and detailed. But I also like discovering new possibilities and ideas so I'm looking forward to seeing your new content.
Hey everyone, Ted here. I’m honored to be taking the reins from Marty and leading an incredible team of global creatives to bring you the content you’ll see moving forward. Marty has built something truly special, and I can’t thank him enough for trusting me with his baby.
A little about me… I got my first Mac in 1984 and have been using Photoshop since version 1. I started my first company at 17 and took a company public at 35. Over the years, I’ve built and grown a traditional ad agency, an interactive agency, and an influencer marketing company. At my core, I’ve always been a creator with a passion for technology. I’ve stayed hands-on with Adobe Creative Suite and have been experimenting with AI tools since the days when they gave people three fingers.
There will never be a replacement for Marty’s style or his silky smooth voice, and I’m not even going to try. What I am going to do is help guide this channel as Editor-in-Chief, ensuring we deliver the best tips, tutorials, and insights to keep you ahead in a rapidly changing creative world. Content moving forward will be created by an international team of talented creators, but I’ll also be producing some myself-like this video and the first under the new brand, premiering Sunday (learn how to make an AI Music Video from start to finish).
I want this to be a collaborative space, so if you have ideas or topics you’d love to see covered, drop them in the community chat. This is a channel built for you, and I can’t wait to explore what’s next together.
Thanks for being part of this journey. Let’s create something amazing.
💙⚡
Please not too much AI stuff, other than that I have no problems
That's awesome, Ted, I'm sure you'll keep this channel amazing. And I'm also sure Marty would never "pass his baby on" if you're not the one for taking care of it. I can't wait to see what you're up to. And, who knows, maybe Marty can come back as a guest from time to time. Be safe and keep creating. ❤
Thank you! I am excited for the future.
We have some exciting episodes coming up that explore the latest AI tools, alongside fresh Photoshop lessons. Our goal is to treat all these tools as part of a creator’s toolbox - helping you understand their strengths, weaknesses, and how they fit into your process. If something outperforms Photoshop for a specific task, we’ll break it down and compare, so you can make the most informed decision on what works best for you.
I’ll miss Marty and hope you leave his old videos up. I do look forward to seeing what is coming in the future. I will stay tuned.
Thank you! There is no replacing Marty, but we are going to do our best to create amazing tutorials for everyone.
The old logo was nicer 🤔😟
That is what I love about the creative arts. Someone can like something and someone can dislike something and they are both right. 😂
I'm not going to unsubscribe yet - to do so now would be unfair - but I am extremely nervous about the shift in tone this intro video seems to indicate is coming.
We will see what happens.
And VERY limited use of AI, please. I am not a fan, and it seems like a number of others here feel the same. Some of us like the challenge of the "older" ways.
Thank you! We know that stepping into Marty’s shoes is no small task. He’s built a special bond with all of you, and that’s something truly irreplaceable. Our team is committed to carrying forward the educational component as best we can, but we also want to hear from you. While we have plenty of ideas for what to teach, your input is just as important. Let us know what you’d like to learn!
OMG, - what is this, I am signing out 😞
Will the old videos stay on the channel or will they eventually be removed?
Our intention is that all tutorial videos will remain. Videos that are more personal to Marty will still be live but they become unlisted.
I am slightly confused. Blue Lightning TV Photoshop I get. But are there going to be spin-off channels? Like Blue Lightning TV After Effects, Blue LightningTV Audition, Blue Lightning TV Premiere, etc.? If not, since the channel is Adobe-related, would Blue Lightning TV Adobe Suite or something along those lines be more in line? I am just going off the video Marty last posted.
There are not going to be spin-off channels. We are working through an official name change to "Blue Lighting" and dropping the TV and Photoshop, but that takes a little time with UA-cam as a verified channel.
@@BLTV_Photoshop and so it begins.
Il canale non mi piace più.
Sorry to hear that. While Marty will be missed there is much to teach and learn.
Ok so everything is still going to be Photoshop based? Any plans to do uxp plugin creation or ui tutorials. , mockups,
We are expanding beyond photoshop. If you have something you think the community would enjoy seeing please let us know.
super looks good job
Thank you!
Wow, it looks incredible!
I hope all your previous videos will always be available.
All the previous tutorials will remain available.
Looks Amazing
Very good and fun to follow
We are going to have a lot of fun!
LOVE IT! Can't wait!
We can't wait either!
nice branding!
Thank you!
Although I have very little knowledge of Photoshop, I can easily understand your tutorials. Your tutorials are very good.
My suggestion is that if current trends such as product banner design, Instagram post and story design, UA-cam thumbnail design, etc. are taught more, it would be great
Thank you🙏🏅
Thank you! Anyone else interested in UA-cam thumbnail design?
Yes @@BLTV_Photoshop
New subscriber here. I love your videos, easy to follow. Thanks
Thanks for subscribing! We're glad you like the videos.
This is so disappointing 😞. I learned so much from Marty throughout the years sadly all good things must come to an end. 🥹
We know it's hard to say goodbye to something great, but we hope you'll check out what we're doing with the channel.
