Re: "China Grove" -- yes, there really is an incorporated suburb of San Antonio, TX, called China Grove. It's in the southwestern portion of the city. This song gets played all the time around here because of that. Also, gotta love how it and MFSB's "TSOP" ("Soul Train", baby!!) were both contemporary popular songs back when this aired -- on cable TV. Talk about (the trope) "older than you think"!!
Ah, teletext. Would have liked to have had this around 2008 when I started to really use the internet. I would have been submitting a lot of things. Alas, I grew up on digital cable.
This cable system is now Altice USA. They advertise the now defunct Cablevision Family Cable channel 10 (when did this channel become defunct?). Now on most Altice USA systems, channel 10 is WLNY.
Yeah- I guess I should be thankful they didn't yank the whole thing, but it seems pretty silly of them to do this over something played on the radio 30 years ago. The reason for the muting is that this begins with the Doobie Brothers "China Grove" with a DJ talking over the intro. You can still get this with the sound on other video sites, you just have to look.
I googled those kids (now adults) with their old addresses. Not surprisingly, all but one have now moved to different addresses. I don’t know who the other person who didn’t move was and for all I know, they may have moved by now.
I had Cablevision when I lived in NJ. I know this is from one of the Long Island Cablevision cable systems, but I got to ask this. Did Cablevision shut down this channel, move it yo channel 12 and launch News 12 Long Island in its place?
I didn't know they had something like this before my time. I was heard that the Drew's weren't supposed to know about these primitive generated text computers they used to have connected live broadcast for Cablevision because the Drew's could do these type of things a lot better, h'mm...
I always love the really old technologies used in the 70s.

I remember the Cablevision "Swap Meet" channel text announcements also: Lou in Patchogue is offering his 1975 Huffy bike..etc. blah blah
70's computer 🖥 technology was different at the time.

I think it went all night; they had movies and local shows during the day and they might have put this on in between some of them.
SWEET! The old 'SOUL TRAIN' theme!

The good old days of Cable TV, before the scourge of infomercials.
Wonder how these kids are doing these days. Never knew something like this existed back then.

I preferred The Nite-Liters' original version of "K-Jee" myself.
no child molesters on Long Island in the late 70s I guess

Just Googled a couple of these names and found mentions of what they might be up to now- wonder if they've seen this clip yet?
It's a different tape- I think they repeated this same text all night.
a cable vision kids show powered by bli.
Use UA-cam Downlaoder... the audio happens to be preserved...

What's the title of the song at 3:15?
MFSB - TSOP (The Sound Of Philadelphia)
Did that channel air this 24/7?
It’s an overnight block from Cablevision
