What a fantastic episode, great time to be around.....I didnt realise Clint is around my age..I always thought he was a dwarf or something. I think he turned up on Lost in Space too. Anyway, the "Voice" he is talking about, a certain Vic, is the voice used by Balok on the Alien Craft NOT the commanding voice from the Puppet earlier.....That voice IS the amazing voice of Ted Cassidy....ie Lurch of the Adams family. Lurch also turns up in another episode of Star Trek as some type of villain fighting with Captain Kirk. Interestingly, Richard Kiel, the Other more Famous Giant American actor, played the Alien in Twilight Zone's..."To Serve Man"...... Great time......RIP Ted and Richard....in Giant Heaven.
I'd have to disagree with Clint's assessment of George Lucas. I'd say George Lucas got a life based on his love of science fiction characters like the ones Clint played. He made a couple of dollars of it too.

This was back before cable channels squeezed the credits, too. So you could enjoy the entire show, start to finish, without seeing plugs for other shows. +phil keuper They used two actors for Balok's voice, the first being Ted Cassidy for the "scary" puppet version of him, and Vic Perrin, now also long gone, alas, for his actual voice. Hope this helps.
Vic Perrin is also one my favorite actors/voice-over artists, but he did not do the second Balok voice. It was Walker Edmiston. Same guy who did the voice of Slugworth in the original Willie Wonka.
I know this is me being picky, but for God's sake I wish Clint Howard would say the name of his episode correctly. It's the Corbomite Maneuver, not Corbonite. That makes me crazy.
Should have had his own series. At the end of each episode, he could have recapped the episode and then toasted the audience with some drink - not sure what drink they could have used, though.
The actor who played "Lurch" does the initial voice over the radio. And I guess Clint didn't get the gig with "get a life" George Lucas. I wonder what movie it was.
As much damn money as he's made by now, looks to me like he'd have fixed those damn teeth! Its like Aaron Neville and that mole, when is he going to have that removed? I know he has enough money.

Cuban is not a race. Hispanic I suppose is a linguistic group, but most western hemispheric Hispanics are Mestizos, a mixture of Spanish and Indians (or Native Americans if you want to get PC.)
First of all it wasn’t a real kiss, you guys just pressed your lips together because you were supposed to be being forced to kiss by an alien. second the first interracial kiss was between Lucky and Desi Arnez on the I love lucky show and a real kiss with as much passion as the censors allowed back in the day not just a play kiss.
I don't think I would call that inter-racial, just inter-cultural. Desi Arnaz was Cuban, so probably of Spanish descent, which most people, those who actually pay attention to the "fine points" of race, would consider white. Whether he had some native American ancestry, I don't know. Of course, this is all very murky, since race is not a scientific concept anyway, so it depends a lot on opinion. I think I heard that there was at least one actual inter-racial kiss (white and black) on TV before that Star Trek scene, but it was something not as well known.

@@roysnider3456 Yes, seriously. But keep in mind, as I said, race is not a scientific concept anyway, so I'm trying to be serious about things that different people see differently anyway. I think he had clear dividing lines in mind, and I think Spaniards were considered "Caucasoid." Given what we know now, it's clear that this was something some guy pulled out of his ass on a really slow day. Nonetheless, we tend to go by it, in rough outlines, to the present day. Of course, as you yourself suggest, it's kind of down down to what you consider yourself. To use an analogy, I might have an idea in mind as to how to pronounce your name, but after all, it's your name, right? So however you pronounce it, that's how it's pronounced. In the case of Desi, I think many Cubans, maybe even most, are of purely European backgrounds, so I would tend to think of that as white. He may be a mestizo-I have no real way of knowing (nor do I care, obviously). If that's the case, then I would not call that "interracial." On many government forms in the US, there are separate boxes for race and "ethnicity," and the ethnicity is generally chosen as "Hispanic" and "non-Hispanic." But again, this is not based on anything scientific. It's not like you can go get a medical test that tells you what your race is. (Well, you sort of can, in a very loose way, by genetic testing, but I think you know what I mean.) So, bottom line, I suppose Desi would identify as "Caucasian" if he had to choose a "race." He was surely not "Mongoloid" or "Negroid." In fact, I don't think Native Americans even fall into that three-way classification, since when it was devised, there was barely even an awareness that they existed. I hope that clarifies how I approach this. But again, all this race stuff is so totally antiquated that I hate even wasting time on it. FWIW when I fill out a form where they ask about race, I put multi-racial if they offer it, as I'm 1/16 Cherokee. Gentle Giant.
Yep!
It was rerun and shown on British Tv for kids in the early 90s or late 80s I think

I do, but just barely. Clint Howard and Dennis Weaver. And Ben, the bear.
The Corbomite Maneuver: One of the best episodes of Star Trek TOS and that final scene with Balok was the icing on the cake.
