- Another quick short video introducing the latest member of the animal family! I have been keeping this animal a secret for months now but finally Eden the Egyptian Tortoise is here! I will make a more in depth video on them at some point.
Turtles and tortoises are one of the most sought after and adored pets but also one of the most neglected and misunderstood. People like “small turtles and tortoises” but don’t realize that even a small sized turtle and tortoise is a lot of work. They are then abandoned or surrendered, usually many times over their lengthy lifespan, for reasons that are easily preventable.
The Egyptian Tortoise being one of the smallest and most endangered tortoises out there I felt might get a bit of attention from those potentially looking into a small pet turtle/tortoise. I do not want to add to a problem that deeply saddens me to see and make it as clear as possible to others that they need to be responsible pet owners.
Turtles and tortoises can make great pets but many people are unaware of the work and knowledge it takes to properly care for one. If you think a turtle or tortoise are the right pet for you then make sure you do as much research as possible. A good start is to find a species that best suits you... Unfortunately, all the information towards the end of this video is the sad truth. We are going through a worldwide mass extinction unlike anything we have ever seen before. This is happening now and in our lifetime...
Ways that you can help animals like the Egyptian Tortoise!
If you have any suggestions that aren’t listed then share them in the comment section down below!
-Be a responsible pet owner. Try to source where your animals are from and do as much research and preparation as possible. Animals are not temporary enjoyment or entertainment and one should be prepared to keep an animal for its entire life. If you can no longer accommodate a pet, proper arrangements should be made with the animals best interest in mind.
-Try to buy captive bred animals from reputable sources and avoid taking animals out of their natural habitats. Some wild caught reptiles have stable populations now but animal populations are always changing and sometimes the animals are subjected to unethical conditions.
-Never release domesticated/invasive species into the wild
-Protect animals and their natural habitats from harvesting of natural resources, urbanization, agricultural development, pollution, and invasive species.
-Help keep the environment clean by properly disposing of litter and kindly reminding others to clean up after themselves.
-Try to live as sustainably as possible and attempt to find ways that you can change old habits and ways that are more environmentally mindful.
-Volunteer, donate, or work at an organization that helps to conserve wildlife and the environment
-Speak up! Help to educate others on the crisis that our world is now facing and what it is they can do to help.

It's so sad that tortoise are such endangered animals. Great video!!!
Yes it breaks my heart every time, Thank you so much for watching!!!
Hes beautiful and the message is so important
Thank you! I couldn’t justify having this adorable little thing without informing people as well of how important it is to care. Thank you again for watching!
Awesome video thanks for sharing 👀💚🐢
Of course! Thanks for watching ❤️
Apparently, I’ve had this turtle for six years without knowing it’s endangered. I just was outside one day and I saw it on the floor and decided to keep it as a pet. I had no idea it was endangered. How do I tell if it’s a male or female cause we live in Libya and can definitely care for more
@@coloius3464 unfortunately this species is only found in small pockets of Libya and should be left in the wild and not taken in as pets. Please do not take anymore from outside. They are mostly endangered from habitat loss but people taking them out of the wild to keep as pets is also not helping their wild populations
Thank you so much for this video.
Of course! Thank you so much for watching it~
nice vid with a calming score.
Thank you! They’re calming to make too!
Beautiful video and edifying. Thank you for putting the facts along with the footage. Goes hand in hand.
Where did you purchase yours?
Thank you so much, I hope to actually do a video where I talk about this little guy more. I got him from a breeder in Montreal. I don’t know anyone else who breeds them in Canada.
@@RedsFaunaverse Brilliant. Montreal, cool. I'm in the United States but I know a reputable breeder here who I may purchase from. They're not cheap but that's a good thing so only serious people will purchase.
@@Roy_Camacho Exactly and for such a rare and unique tortoise too.
Cute new addition
Eeeeee thank you! 😍😍
I'd love to have one of these in my collection. What reputable breeder do you recommend me ?
If you’re in Canada then you can go to where I went to which was TortoisePassion
I want an Egyptian tortoise

The smallest of the smol 🥺
Im getting one tomorrow and a russian also, im really excited💖✊🏽
Oh my god that’s so exciting!!! Russians are I think the other one of my favourites amongst the testudo’s
@@RedsFaunaverse ohhh, nice. Im going to have a lot of fun setting up their areas because why not?😅
@@tiyealsahlwy i have a video I’m releasing on setting up my tortoise habitat in a week or two so stayed tuned!
Where did you buy your tortoise? Do you still have the breeds contact information?
Cute
💚💚
Is it legal to own one
Depends on where you live, this one is captive bred and I live in Ontario so it’s legal! But in provinces like Nova Scotia, all turtles and tortoises are illegal.
