@@Alice-Efe Hi Alice, new subscriber here. I agree, very well-done and knowledgeable videos all around. I speak personally and only with good intent. However, for me, there are a bit too many transitions that distract me from the main subject. Maybe it's because I have ADD and I'm on the autism spectrum, so I'll suggest toning it down a bit a copuple of videos and see what happen. All the best :)
p.s for exqmple the 3rd part from minute 1.10 is perfect, the 5th part from minute 2.55 is just too distracting and got lost what you doing afther litle. I hope this do not discorage you as i really like your insight. :)
Wow - that was the cleanest, most awesome explanation of how to create a rolling bass on the internet. Your contest is fantastic! I can't wait to experiment with these techniques.
I would argue that PsyTrance was the genre that really pushed the rolling bass. However, your videos are always a treat Alice! Your probably my favorite electronic music UA-camr right now! Keep up the great work please :)
"They see me Rollin"... Sincerely Thank you so much for this video ! Melodic TechnOcians have been waiting for over 460 years for you to explain this for the world to understand :)
This is one of the most valuable channels on UA-cam, absolutely one of the top 3 in terms of music production. I am happy to be one of the patrons as well, it's my way of saying "Thank you!" for what you're doing and you're doing great! Congratulations Alice, you're great! :)
Loved this one! I don't make that much music in the 'Dance' genre, i dabble but the tips you provide can be applied to other genres too. Thanks again Alice.
I must admit that I didn't follow you before because you use a DAW that I don't use. But, I have realised that your content is so educational and interesting. It is like going to the university of electro sound. I enjoy truly your videos, and now I am your subscriber. Thanks for the time and effort you put on it :D Pristine content.
interesting. we've been using the rolling bassline very prominently in psytrance for over 20 years now, but we do it in a completely different way. many things you show here for melodic techno would be big no-nos, other things that are key for us are something you don't do at all. and funnily your eq curve is bassically the opposite of what i would use on by patches.
Perhaps you could elaborate on what is correct and what is in-correct, considering I've seen countless masterclasses from Psy Producers that use this exact method...
@@Gino_567 most importantly in psy we always use just one oscillator (you might want to add a bit of stereo bass on top, but way higher, only sometimes and only in one certain subgenre), so there's no point in adding a sub layer. getting the envelope settings correct is precise work (not so much with the patch in the video where it sounds good in a wide range), we use phase shifting to make it pluckier, aligning the phase of the first bass note with the kick is essential, for eq the fundamental is rather cut a bit than boosted, the first harmonic is often boosted and the fifth (iirc) harmonic is cut. as a result psy bass isn't as wide and fuzzy but focused, "rubbery" and slaps harder.
Why is she ignoring the whole history of disco with many examples of rolling bass like I Feel Love and You Make Me Feel. Giorgio Moroder is the forerunner of 99% of EDM today
Agh I has halfway through one of your great tutorials and then it got taken down? Any chance it'll get reposted? It was the video for Looped by Kiasmos

Rolling bass in psytrance is key. I only remember very few psytrance tracks that do not use a rolling bass
Wow - that was the cleanest, most awesome explanation of how to create a rolling bass on the internet. Your contest is fantastic! I can't wait to experiment with these techniques.
This channel keeps getting better
so knowledgeable. A ton of mixing techniques packed into this small video, well explained with VFX too. Great content!
I would argue that PsyTrance was the genre that really pushed the rolling bass. However, your videos are always a treat Alice! Your probably my favorite electronic music UA-camr right now! Keep up the great work please :)
Yea, Psy- and Goa trance is what most people recognize the rolling base with. It kind of owned rolling base in the 90's and early 2000.
I was thinking the same thing.
Your video production level is getting better by the week

“Most perfect rolling bassline is meldic techno”
Psytrance: Am I a joke to you?
That bass line has been beat to death
You have to mention Donna Summer - I Feel Love if you're mentioning the history of the rolling bass 🙏🏻
Another awesome video, thx!

The bassline at 3:03 (no pun intended) is groovy as hell. 😳
0:23 redlines detected xD good work indeed
AWESOME video - great share

I thought the same! My precious Italo Disco, where did you go?
Giorgio Moroder también hizo un bass asi en i feel love, saludos desde México 🇲🇽❤
Love the video, but Goa Trance and Psy trance don't get a shout out? rolling basslines for over 20 years in almost every track 💁♀
Thank youuuuuuuuuuuu 😘

How the hell did they sidechain that bass in 1600 ? 😂

Rolling bassline is not more influential than a reese bass, and no other bass transcends more genres
