Was in Cambodia a few years ago, and asked a friendly local "Why everyone is so friendly here?" He replied, "We had suffered from war for years, so many dead, and it's a blessing to wake up in peace every day, surely we are grateful for a 'normal' life."
I left PP way back in late 1979 after surviving the brutal genocide there. The city was like a ghost town then. Sadly, most of my family members did not make it. The country was in total ruins. The families were separated and torn apart. I was in my last year of my high school in Phnom Penh. My first return trip was in 1995 to find my surviving family. Only memory lives on. Life is short. Be kind, be cool, and be happy. Enjoy your travels!
We are so sorry to hear that. The Khmer Rouge was truly heartbreaking. We believe it’s a important part of history many people should learn about when they visit Cambodia. You are absolutely right. Life is short and we shouldn’t take anything for granted. Sending love to you friend! Thanks a ton & more adventures to come 😍🥰
I read your comment made me cry so story. I can tell by now you are over 60 years old . Your writing really good English. I really love reading your comments on this UA-cam video channel.
@@vannyseang7456 Thanks for your time and comment. I'm almost 70 now and it seems like yesterday of what I had to live through this hell on earth. I was able to find my sole surviving sister back then. Most of them who did not survive are in a better place. Sharing is Caring!
Thanks for visiting Cambodia! I love you guys' energy. I'm living in Siem Reap, and I recommend you visit, especially Angkor Wat. It's more calm than Phnom Penh, and there are many ancient Khmer temples that you can explore. Don't worry about communication; most of the people here can speak English. Have a good trip.
Absolutely! We are excited to share what we have been up too. So far Cambodia has been a place we enjoy so much. The temples, food and people are what travelling is all about and there is no shortage here in Cambodia 😍
Yeah..but i as a south asian faced racism by government officials when i visited there...like each and every government official was rude and racist..and always asked for bribe.
we need more people like you it brings light and Joyce and go to the local street vendor help support and interactive with them it so beautiful Cambodia people well known to be the friendly people. Thanks, sharing you two are wonderful.
I’m going back home (Cambodia) in a month (I’ve only been when I was young) it’s exciting to see how much the country has changed. It’s beautiful, I’m excited!!!
Dear Sir and Mme: I, like many of my fellow Cambodians, sincerely appreciate you for visiting and showing Cambodia to the world with those lovely smiles and kind words. Covid-19 pandemic has been brutal and devastating to us. It's such a priceless favor and grace! Have a pleasant stay, sir and mme. Once again, our sincere thanks and appreciation. God bless you.
Hello! We are so happy and thankful to be able to visit such an incredible country, it took us by surprise. Thanks for the lovely comment and we can’t wait to see what else we get up too so we can bring you all along. ♥️ cheers!
15:04 the ice creams are only 1000riel which is 0.25 cents, he said 1 because he might think it means 1000riel. but thank you for visiting my country hope you have a safe trip back to canada❤ love from cambodia 🇰🇭❤🇨🇦
Welcome to Cambodia, Chase and Shelby! The energy in this video is oooooozzzzing and so joyful. I love it, every second, every word you guys spoke and the whole video was an incredible journey from start to finish. Thanks for visiting my home country. Please come back, we welcome you.
Another great video, guys! Absolutely love Phnom Penh. Super underrated city- a lot of people visit Siem Reap, but don't spend any time capital. Great people, great food and lots of beautiful temples and architecture. Makes we want to go back!
I’m so glad my family survived the Khmer Rouge and I was born about week before Vietnamese soldiers fought Khmer Rouge in 1979. My mom and newborn me barely survived the mines. Although my family and most relatives survived Khmer Rouge but growing up with a ptsd mother gave me a dark childhood as if I have experienced a glimpse of her life in the concentration camp.
We are so sorry to here this. Learning about the history of Cambodia and the Khmer Rouge was truly heartbreaking. We can’t imagine what you and your family had to go through/are going through. We are sure it would probably make you a very strong person being able to move past that. Sending all our love ♥️
So happy to see a glimpse of Phnom Penh since I'm planning to travel in Cambodia and stay there for a few days sometime next year. And I'm so inclined to try the food you just ate. 😊😊
Welcome and thank you so much for greatest vlog I've ever seen. Soem vlog uses negative content to attract view but you show the real Cambodia to the world with such a lovely content. Cambodian are the friendliest people on earth. Hope you could come and visit us again. Thank you.
That makes us so happy to read! You are welcome. That’s the goal to be real and authentic and show the raw beauty of the countries we visit. Cambodia is amazing and the people and food are some of the best. Thanks friend! ♥️
Very enjoyable to watch the video. And thanks for not making negative info on the thumbnail to attract viewers just like other vloggers did. Love your content ❤
Aww I love Cambodia! Saw that you guys filmed this a while back but hope you got to see Kampot (stay on the river away from downtown!) and the Koh Rong islands. If not, definitely worth going back for 🇰🇭 and yea those chive pancakes are the best
It’s so great! We can’t wait to go back some day. We actually visited Kampot but didn’t film. Just enjoyed it 🥰 we are also hooked on the chive dumplings haha!
It excites me to see foreigner visiting Cambodia, because it's very common to video of Bangkok visits Edit: I recommend you to visit the Sosoro Museum, a museum of Cambodian money
Amazing Vlog and amazing drone shots of Phnom Penh. I love it. By the way, the short noodle dish you ate is called "Lot Chha", and the pancake "Num Ka Chhay". They are the most common street foods in Cambodia and they are super yum.
We appreciate that so much thanks! We are big fans of the food so far.. never realized how tasty it actually was as we don’t here much about it 🤩 give us alllll thestreet food!
I appreciated your doc of your visit to Cambodia. FYI, it’s call lot Cha . Cha like cha cha dance! The second dish, is called nom ka chay - chive rice cake fried. Cambodia was colonized by French, hence the French colonial building. Thai and Khmer are technically influence each other back and forth from the past and now, just like Canada and the US. Hope you have fun there!
Thanks for the info! It’s always great being able to learn more about the foods of the country we are in, so thank you! They are absolutely delicious those chive cakes haha 😍
Hey guys 12:30 you’re supposed to submerge the rice cake and let it soak in all that sweet sweet sauce and the rice noodle with the sauce too(use a spoon for the rice noodle ) safe travel guys
Welcome to Cambodia . I think drone was bann near the royal palace but u got lucky u not get fine by authority 😬. Enjoy your trip waiting your next episode in Cambodia
I'm really enjoying your videos. I first found you with your food tour video in Saigon and I'll probably be doing that tomorrow. And now, due to a visa complication, I have to do a visa run to Phnom Penh, and here you are. Looking forward to that, and I wish you continued great travels!
You two good looking people with vibrant personalities make this video enjoyable. 😃Thank you for sharing Cambodia with the world. I’ve been planning to visit Cambodia.
That is so sweet! You made our day. Thanks Mike. It’s been such an incredible time. Plus the food and people are amazing so it makes it that much easier ♥️
@@ChaseandShelbs Yes I’ve been looking to visit the temples in Cambodia before COVID put everything on pause. I’m planning again now and your videos along with other travelers, greatly help with what to expect. They say a place is only as good as the people that’s in it. The US has too many crimes and gun violence lately, considering it’s a 1st world nation. I’d trade living in a safer country with friendlier people.
