Not bad compared to stories from last year!

I have a personal vendetta with Silverstone atm just because of the prices, absolutely ridiculous. It was way cheaper flying to the Spanish GP & making a full week holiday out of it with accommodation in the middle of Barcelona!
I'm sure that every F1 race inconveniences some of the locals but others gain from it. I just watch them as a fan and don't worry about the rest, nothing I can do about the logistics.
It may be the most hated race for the locals but Monaco is the worst for fans. Such a boring race. 78 parade laps for rich people who generally have no interest in F1.
Most people who have attended the Monaco Grand Prix wouldn’t agree with you. Like many F1 venues, the actually race plays second fiddle to the host city (restaurants, bars, entertainment) & the three days of the atmosphere at the circuit.
Monaco GP was there long before they all bought their apartments there and they knew this so its like moving next to a noisy pub then complaining 🤷🏻♀️
Visited Vegas in September, and the construction had made a complete mess of the strip. Locals hate the GP; business owners hate the GP; visitors hate the GP; the teams/drivers hated the GP.
@@hectoraccented5312 Yup, $990 CDN So overpriced it's not funny. I guess Kym has to recoup his travel expenses some how, he even admits to staying at the Nobu Hotel at $2277 per night!!
This is one of the better street circuits where overtaking is actually possible like Baku. And we dont have to deal with track limits and pushing people wide all the time.
I don't mind some street circuits for variation but only a few among the proper race tracks. The problem with USA street circuits is the USA streets are generally poorly made and poorly maintained compared with many other countries.
Leaving a loose manhole cover and then giving a driver a penalty for committing the crime of getting hit by it, was ridiculous. And then kicking fans out of a session they paid for was hard to believe. But the race itself was fine.
Hi Kym, first off big fan. I work for the City of Austin. I remember when COTA was built and F1 race was coming near so the city over prepared for the mass amount of international and local travelers, coming into Austin. We anticipated lots of call volume for our 311 ( local information center and police non emergency ) center but I remember It being a dead weekend. The fans that came to the City didn't really experience Austin. They came, went to their hotels, went to free practices, race day, then left. I remember the Hotels saw a huge surge in profits but almost everywhere else it was extremely dead and hardly any business, millions of sales tax lost during that weekend. Our locals said they didn't go out because they expected to be overly busy everywhere. The South Congress area dead, downtown hotels were packed but no where else like the North side was( Domain ) dead, too. We were shocked and surprised by this. One, we didn't realize how coordinated these fans are and how organized Formula 1 is to help with their fans with needs. It was like this for about 3-4 years ( races ), and then all of sudden everyone started to see fiscal benefits of f1 in the City. The restaurants in all of Austin saw a surge, the local hip places around Congress Ave started seeing the street submerged with f1 jerseys, etc. The Fans were buying Texas jerseys, visiting the local places etc. So I think this will be similar in Vegas. The hotels, casinos, and f1 saw surge in profit as a whole but the people in the nearby areas and off strip didn't. I have a feeling as more races go thru Vegas it will be same as it was in Austin. It seems like it just takes time for the F1 Fans to make it outside of their intermediate areas to start to exploring more of Vegas than what meets the eye.
Thanks for putting this together! Super helpful as I gear up for my first F1 experience at the LVGP next week-can't wait to see the action live and follow your coverage too. Any chance you'll be hosting a meet-up? Would be awesome to connect with other fans!
As always, thanks for the video Kym! I especially enjoyed your coverage and insights (talking to locals etc.) of last years Las Vegas GP and will do so this year, for sure. I wish I could go there, but it's still a long travel from Germany and a lot of money, considering all costs. Hope you'll have a good time there!
Good afternoon Kym. I am a huge F1 fan, I love the racing, the cars and so on. Last years LAS race was one of the best of the season and I'm hoping this years race is even better considering the level of competition. During the setup, race and take down, folks working in hotels and other businesses within the race circuit must leave home up to 1.5 hours earlier than normal. Americans are spoiled, they don't like delays and things that invade their private time, hence the hate of this event. Some businesses made a ton of money while others lost a ton of money. As for tourists. There is enough online information prior to this event people should be aware of what to expect, however they'll complain regardless. I guess it's easier to complain and find fault in things vs. complementing folks or events like this. Kym, safe travels and keep up the great work, love your posts!
excellent comment. New Yorker here (NYC) who flew to Vegas 5 times in my life just cause I enjoy what Vegas has to offer different from my Queens and Brooklyn (all my life.) anyone reading this; it is an amazing desert/ mountainous (north) environment. Rent a Car and drive to L.A. just to do it (4-6 hours.) Go see Hoover Dam. Definitely book a table at the Stratosphere restaurant and watch a 360 deg. view of the states.
I was just in Vegas recently; talked to many small businesses and most talked about how much money they are losing because of the race. Mainly due to the race infrastructure blocking businesses access months before and after the race.
That’s just untrue. I have a condo in Vegas. Those businesses are not blocked for months before and after. Those businesses have legitimate concerns no need to lie about “months”. No commercial event affects businesses negatively in the US for months.
I am a Las Vegas local, and I loved the race last year!! Yes, there were some bumps during the construction of the circuit, but it was an amazing race. I'm looking forward to this year.
When I first saw the layout, it looked as simple as Long Beach, but the racing was much better than I imagined. F1 ticket prices will keep me away, but it's always better to see it on TV. It is good to be there in person though, to absorb the reality of speed.
I hate it as it’s too expensive. It’s as bad as the superbowl. Everything in Vegas is 5x the price and I’m so sick and tired of price gauging I have zero interest in attending in person. I’d rather attend Montreal. My 3 day ticket in a grandstand was $250 all in for 3 days.
As a local the traffic from the set up hasn’t been NEAR as bad this year thankfully. Our city is growing exponentially so there’s construction all over this year. It’s been short enough and not as intrusive where it could almost be just another major city project. It’s still very annoying and quite obvious but it’s been much better.
I was at the race last year and can save from a purely one race spectacle. It was great. But you can’t enjoy Vegas as one normally would with limited access to everywhere, it’s a give-and-take event, but ultimately, the spectacle of running under the lights is second to none.
Went last year, food was included and it was great, the atmosphere was electric and the weather was cool and not too cold. the racing was also great so overall 9/10 for me. Will skip this year due to work sadly but this was a great experience!
Decent track, good race but understandably people are going to be pissed over the disruption the circuit preparation causes, and that I fully understand
I like to joke that I've been an F1 fan since I was in the womb (parents attended Watkins Glen F1 multiple times) but the races are inaccessible to disabled ppl like me. Nary an accessible seat and I can't find one this year either. The race is only an hour away for me. It was surprisingly enjoyable on TV, but in person, it's literally inaccessable unless you can afford the most expensive of packages. Agreed Monaco is the worst for fans and Miami is a cringefest (fake water, sliced boats, etc) imo. Loved the highway patrol officer stopped on an overpass for a free excellent view the first year there.
Kym on your website the best of 2024 you cant pre order the coffee table edition only the large photo book there is no option for to change the one you want there only option is the 2023 one
Other than Lando's crash, that race was way better than I could have imagined. The racing was great and there is something special in seeing those cars driving down the main strip.
I went last year and it was better than expected.. its was pretty cold too... I dont think this event will make it past next year as they only signed a 3 year contract. So this is probably the second to last vegas GP
Kicking fans out at 2AM who waited all day, and not apologizing because that whole admitting guilt thing and offering people a ham sandwich voucher instead is inexcusable.

Thank you once again Kym for your wonderful information and insights into this apparently not well liked event. Nice books certainly something to look forward to. Cheers buddy - Stay off the Pashiona soft drink!
I'm still so bitter towards F1 on how they handled last year's Vegas GP. That was the only race I wanted to go to last season because it was ON my actual birthday, but they had to be greedy f*cks and price 90% of fans out of tickets and hotels. Even when ticket prices dropped 70% a few weeks before the race, I had friends saying I should go, but out of principle, I doubt I will ever attend this race. Damage was done for me.
I've been following F1 for 36 years and live on the West side of the US. I was so excited to hear about the race in Vegas and thought I'd go to celebrate my 35 year of being a fan. That is, until I saw the ticket and hotel prices. I didn't end up going but I'm glad to hear the prices have gotten better and especially that the hotels are more reasonable. Couldn't make it this year, but maybe it'll be in next year's travel budget? Fingers crossed they have another exciting race this year and it just keeps getting better.
The prices were very reasonable 2-3 weeks out last year. We got a decent room at the Paris for less than the normal weekend rate and our race tickets were under a third of face value.
@@MarkScholes-e4y Ya, I had heard about the big discounts right before the race, but I wasn't able to go. From Kym's video, it seems like there are some last minute discounts this year as well. Maybe when I retire and I have more flexibility in my schedule I can take advantage of that. Still working though so not always easy to take a long weekend without too much planning. Thanks for the suggestion.
I used to hate on the Las Vegas race, until I actually went to Vegas. I loved it in Vegas and I’m so keen for the race! It would be even better to be there in person. The actual race last year wasn’t too bad. Also for Australians the race is actually on at a good time, on a Sunday evening!
I've never hated the Las Vegas grand prix, I just hope they won't have drain cover issues again this year and please let them do a shorter podium ceremony (no nonsense with driving who knows where for interviews, driving back for the podium but just a normal ceremony as usual). The race itself was good last year, and the temperatures might make it very interesting.
It’s a home race outside our own viewing hours. 1am start on the east coast. Imagine running Silverstone at 1am? So it feels like a foreign event to me.
Will they now think about the manhole covers? and if something happens due to lack of safety and control, will the team/driver NOT be blamed....it was really embarrassing. and yes, it is totally over the top there in Vegas. give me the ''normal'' races that are held in the rest of the world.
Not to pile on, but the other gripe about the Las Vegas GP is the ticket map on the official website, which is baffling. Yes, the race is at night, but the seating map does not need to be dark with vague representations and amorphis design elements. Let's make it brighter and clearer, like what Kym said about the main paddock area.
I suspect it isn't the hate agains the race or against F1. It's more against Vegas. Vegas is getting so expensive for people to just visit, let alone spending more on event tickets. F1 may be deliberately pricing themselves to that top end market, so they'll just have to bear losing the mass market.
Last year a friend was in Vegas a week before the race and all he did was complain about traffic the shut downs the detours but had no idea f1 was the reason why
I’ll be keen to hear what locals/small businesses say this year and see if F1 learned anything or cares. You know a first race will have hiccups but they could have anticipated many of the issues last year (and been far less greedy).
The fact of the matter is that when it came to the race itself last year, Vegas was one of the best in a pretty boring season. 90+ overtakes; take that Monaco. That dive into the corner at the end by LeClerc was just epic. Last year I had to watch it on my phone in a hotel room; looking forward this time to watching it at home on the big screen. It was a good race, no matter what you and the rest of the U.S. haters think.
I agree - it was a good track and the race was a good one. I don't even mind Carlos's accident with the watermain cover, which could have been expected on a new street circuit. It's all the window dressing and other stuff that Lost Wages put on that was stupid and unnecessary.
It's ironic people are complaining about the Vegas race on a channel ran by a social influencer (no offense Kym). The Vegas event attracted unprecedented numbers of A-liters, celebrities and influencers. Not to mention the large numbers of high rollers, business leaders and potential corporate sponsors. F1 knew exactly what they were doing when they committed $500 million to buying land and building a paddock facility. The Vegas GP is here to stay,
Hi Kym, just asking about the color profile you use on your files if you don't mind as I am a Photographer also. Do you use the native colors from Canon Raws or use Adobe Colors once you edit them? thanks
The racing itself is actually awesome at the track, it is designed perfectly for overtaking even as a street race. The issue is with the logistics. I hope they solve the problems.
Dude, growing pains... was in Vegas a month ago and folks were buying team gear like it wasn't $70 a hat ans $120 a shirt. Seriously, it was everywhere and folks are eating it up.
I watched on F1 tv and in my opinion was just an amazing race . I’ve driven on a simulator in Las Vegas and I really liked the layout , can’t wait for this year’s race
From a TV perspective, the race looked souless as you could hardly see any spectators. Certainly looked a lot different from a race like Monza or Zandvoort
The 'hate' has more to do with F1 making such a ridiculous, inauthentic spectacle of the sport in general. Look at that horrible event they have now scheduled for February 2025 to launch the cars. Vegas is a gaudy display that ruins the lives of locals and their small businesses. Fans want to see races at actual tracks (like COTA or Hockenheim).
Only in America, which is all about BIG and money. As a F1 fan for over 50 years, this is not racing. It’s a show that happened to have a race somewhere in the end. Miami and Vegas are just for show. Been to Vegas, Miami and the hoopla is way to much. No need for all that. Awesome job in reporting Mr Kym happy travels.
7k USD for a few nights in a hotel is crazy. The average yearly salary in my home country is 12k euros. My friend got a five-day, all-inclusive vacation in a 5-star hotel in Sicily for a few hundred euros.
Watching on TV? I liked it bar the silliness you mention they stopped. Wouldn't go in person though if picking from the globe. I'd choose Texas over Vegas if going state side
Why not have a handful of different covers for your upcoming book? Customers can choose the cover of their choice. I've seen this with Star Style from interior designer Martin Lawrence Bullard. (no relation to actor Martin Lawrence.) I debated attending the race next week but decided against it even though the Hamilton tickets were almost half price. If you have the time, try to film a video from the Elvis Presley suite.

the race itself was awesome but the glitz and glam with hours of intro musical performances was ridiculous. i watch from lights out to post race interviews and that's it.
As a babyboomer I wonder when did the term "haters" come into fashion? Less or more than five years? I sure don't remember anybody talking about "haters" when Keke Rosberg won the World championship at Caesars Palace parking place.
I live 3 hours away and am a huge race fan. But for the site lines and the crowds and the cost. I would much rather spend my race dollar on traveling to Road America for a great Indy Car race that is on the best track in the US. Please F1! Go to Road America!
I LOVE this race after only watching one. I saw what this race can be vs what it was. I see them moving it more forward in the calendar because November in Vegas is too sketchy. ALL fans no matter where want to be comfortable, cold and wet does not meet that criteria. Maybe run it in the day, but that'll never happen.......nothing good EVER happens in Vegas in the day.
The penalty assessed to Carlos Sainz in the 2023 LV race after a vent cover on the track trashed his car - and almost injured him - was quite unfair!

I have a personal vendetta with Silverstone atm just because of the prices, absolutely ridiculous. It was way cheaper flying to the Spanish GP & making a full week holiday out of it with accommodation in the middle of Barcelona!
That's just wild ... Same applies to Austria, its way cheaper than Silverstone and much nicer holiday
I'm sure that every F1 race inconveniences some of the locals but others gain from it. I just watch them as a fan and don't worry about the rest, nothing I can do about the logistics.
Love the USB Ports on your wall behind you... are they USB 4..,! great video as usual. All the best and stay Passionate..

It may be the most hated race for the locals but Monaco is the worst for fans. Such a boring race. 78 parade laps for rich people who generally have no interest in F1.
just like in Monaco!
@@daphnelovesL can you read
Most people who have attended the Monaco Grand Prix wouldn’t agree with you.
Like many F1 venues, the actually race plays second fiddle to the host city (restaurants, bars, entertainment) & the three days of the atmosphere at the circuit.
Monaco GP was there long before they all bought their apartments there and they knew this so its like moving next to a noisy pub then complaining 🤷🏻♀️
Monaco exists because of money and glamour. It's a joke for F1 racing and fans.
Visited Vegas in September, and the construction had made a complete mess of the strip. Locals hate the GP; business owners hate the GP; visitors hate the GP; the teams/drivers hated the GP.
990 dollars for a picture book is wild
Surely it’s not that much??!
@@BigSkyC0untry Canadian maybe? It's $650 following the link in the description
@@hectoraccented5312 Yup, $990 CDN So overpriced it's not funny. I guess Kym has to recoup his travel expenses some how, he even admits to staying at the Nobu Hotel at $2277 per night!!
Yeah....good luck with that.
ALL his stuff seems overpriced.
I hate all street circuits, F1 should be held on purpose built race tracks, which is what the cars are designed to do.
Street circuits have been part of F1 since F1 began. F1 cars are designed to cope with racing on street tracks.
@@tomnewham1269not the new F1 cars. They are way too big
@@urnewboy1 Yeah , the new cars suck
Thanks for the heads up on that
Thanks for putting this together!
It did last year because of construction. Should only be days this year.
I am a Las Vegas local, and I loved the race last year!! Yes, there were some bumps during the construction of the circuit, but it was an amazing race. I'm looking forward to this year.
You truly have the best F1 channel on UA-cam. Love the way you present it. Hope to see your channel hit 1M subs!
If I do it long enough, I’ll certainly get there. Many thanks.
I just hope the title isn’t won in a sprint.
It’s already won

650 USD for a book. Come on! This is getting ridiculous. 🤷♂️
My 3 day ticket in a grandstand was $250 all in for 3 days.
street race are crap to begin with
As a local the traffic from the set up hasn’t been NEAR as bad this year thankfully.
The only thing that will make me interested in the Vegas 24 GP is when MBS uses it to announce his resignation as FIA President.
Decent track, good race but understandably people are going to be pissed over the disruption the circuit preparation causes, and that I fully understand
Hey Kym, I'm in Vegas this weekend for a Bar Association conference. If you'll be here, I'd love to grab lunch one day.
I think they should swap Miami and Vegas on the calendar. Especially if they are making Vegas a night race every time.
That will be fixed this morning
Fixed! www.kymillman.com/store/photo-books/?category=best-of
Other than Lando's crash, that race was way better than I could have imagined. The racing was great and there is something special in seeing those cars driving down the main strip.
I went last year and it was better than expected.. its was pretty cold too... I dont think this event will make it past next year as they only signed a 3 year contract. So this is probably the second to last vegas GP
Lando being on the cover of that picture book, will piss off many max & lewis fans
Who is Lando ???
That’s a placeholder image.
Kicking fans out at 2AM who waited all day, and not apologizing because that whole admitting guilt thing and offering people a ham sandwich voucher instead is inexcusable.
@@leocosta1312 Unfortunately the staff were off the clock by then so it was a safety issue. I got a full refund on my three day hospitality pass because of that evening so it worked for me.
As soon as i saw “promotion” i skipped past it then realized it was for you and rewinded to see a super cool book. For once might actually buy the promotion item from a segment in a youtube video
Thank you once again Kym for your wonderful information and insights into this apparently not well liked event. Nice books certainly something to look forward to. Cheers buddy - Stay off the Pashiona soft drink!
Noted. Many thanks.
Hey Kym, if you make an IndyCar trip next season, consider Long Beach. 50th anniversary of that event! Should be a banger.
Well Diddy’s unlikely to be there this year.
I used to hate on the Las Vegas race, until I actually went to Vegas. I loved it in Vegas and I’m so keen for the race! It would be even better to be there in person. The actual race last year wasn’t too bad. Also for Australians the race is actually on at a good time, on a Sunday evening!
The hate is in the words Las Vegas. It stands for all that is superficial.
So excited! My favorite in the US! Was there last year too! Hopes it’s a bit more smooth! Cesars had a great package! 🏎️🦁
The Caesars location and viewing is awful. I wouldn't wasted my money viewing from there.
Great racing on the circuit last year, looking forward to this year!
I watched from home last year and this ended up being my favorite race of the season.
You did Lando dirty with the cover of that book 😂 I'm sure there were better pics?!
The Gorelock sphere 😂
Not to pile on, but the other gripe about the Las Vegas GP is the ticket map on the official website, which is baffling. Yes, the race is at night, but the seating map does not need to be dark with vague representations and amorphis design elements. Let's make it brighter and clearer, like what Kym said about the main paddock area.
They may be having trouble selling the tickets this year. We had the cheapest seats and they got upgraded to grandstands a month ago.
Ngl the fact Sainz got a penalty for that BS still angers me.
Do you use the native colors from Canon Raws or use Adobe Colors once you edit them? thanks
My wife said if this comment gets 1000 likes I will be able to purchase Kyms Large Photo Book
The racing itself is amazing, the venue/ location is awesome for viewing on the big screen
Look forward to this
The racing itself is actually awesome at the track, it is designed perfectly for overtaking even as a street race.
Winter golf gloves are a photographers best cold weather friend....
Thanks for the video! Turn 14 is an amazing corner, allowing driver's bravery and maybe stupidity to flourish!
Yes, but if they stick an F1 race in there that rate won’t stay the same
love your video's and content but really 990,00 for a book ?????
yeah wtf... that's insane
I have to admit I really wish there was no race in LV. Glad it is not a Sprint Weekend at least.
Last year, the race was great. This year, things will improve in some of the other areas. It will be refined. I only hope the circuit is really ready.
I absolutely love the Las Vegas race. One of my favorite!
I wonder who buys $990 coffee table books
Watching on TV? I liked it bar the silliness you mention they stopped.
Wouldn't go in person though if picking from the globe. I'd choose Texas over Vegas if going state side
As someone who attended last year, I thought it was fantastic (although FP1 was a shambles).
That’s a good idea. Every book is custom printed, I’ll take that on board.
@KymIllman it's good having me around, albeit many time zones away.
Kym, I have searched your site and have not found the link to pre-order your 24 Photobook.
The huge book is here - www.kymillman.com/store/special-edition-best-of-photobook/ and the smaller book will be available for ordering in about two hours on the Photobooks page in the shop at Kymillman.com
the race itself was awesome but the glitz and glam with hours of intro musical performances was ridiculous. i watch from lights out to post race interviews and that's it.
The Brundle grid walk is the best in LV!
