Selbe is beautiful of you haven’t been there in 7 years you prob haven’t seen board walks bridges waterfalls and have a kids area now. I agree they do g have a ton of palms like sunken gardens which I love. You been there Juan? You can go to the to ringling museum and grounds for free on Tuesday. Pretty beautiful place and grounds . Massive ficus trees. Selbe is too expensive I agree. I must say tge flamethrower palms there are quite impressive now . Very girthy beautiful trunks. I might of took some seeds off the ground lol. There’s a garden on st Pete by downtown , maybe Mike both of downtown lots of really nice tropical palms. Got quite a few seeds from there got baby growing in the yard. The Montgomery palms are incredibly fast sprouted and growers. Seeds are like 90 pct germination rate. The survived 30 degrees few years ago too with no issues . Love your channel man

I agree with your assessment. I first got into Palm trees in 2011. They had quite a few palms that I had not previously seen. It only took a short while to realize that Selby was more about weddings and tourists than tropical palms and plants. No longer a member but still a Sarasota resident. I learned a lot about palms and cycads from Mike Evans in St. Pete. Kopsick gardens in St. Pete is free and has many more Palm varieties.

Been there multiple times and I agree. It’s underwhelming for palms. They are going through a huge new additional building construction right now, so not sure how that will affect it.
There are several naturalized coconuts growing on the wrack line of the Bay, which is pretty cool to see.

They also had large mature lipsticks and a areca vestiaria that they took the chainsaw too. They did plant a little salacca magnifica inside the greenhouse a few years ago. They are now more focused on art and other junk exhibits than the plants even their rare orchids.
