The Ninja 400 official 0-60 mph time is 4.2 seconds and a 1/4 mile time in 13.3 seconds and a top speed of 124 mph. The Sportster 48 dose 0-60 mph in 4.3 seconds with a 1/4 mile time of 13.2 seconds. THE NINJA 400 IS EVERY BIT AS FAST as the Sportster 48 but it dose it with only 44 hp when the 1200 48 Sportster makes 60 hp
I was wondering if anyone was going to point out the fact that they just compared a 400 cc to a 1200 cc. If they had used the 885 instead it would have been much more even about 5 hp difference. A better comparison would have been the 650 cc to the 1200 cc in this case the 1/2 size ninja 650 is putting out 7 more hp than the 1200 Harley. They could have also pointed out that ninja is about 1/2 the cost of the Harley.
A sportster is 550 pounds. The ninja is 360. The sportster is 2-3 times the price. The harley is not the better beginner bike for most people for those two very obvious reasons.
Depends on strength! An older Harley is similar in cost to a newer Kawi. I'm comparing the two to decide on a purchase. Though I'm looking into the 883, not the 1200.
I've had both of these bikes and you really can't go wrong with either of them. They underplay the performance of the 400 tho I've gotten it up to 120mph on Mexican roads before and am pretty sure it out performs my 48 in every aspect. However I prefer the 48 more because for me it's more comfortable and I love the sound.
My 48 smokes my ninja 400 in speed but the handling of the 400 is amazing and tbh the ninja might be a little more comfy to me my back and arms hurt more on the 48 but the sound of the 48 makes up for it😂
I don't know about catching it on the straight; the Ninja400 got faster 0-60 and 1/4 mile times as well as a higher top speed than the 48. The 48 has more torque, which makes it feel faster, but as far as performance, it's got nothing on the ninja400.
If you’re taking a ninja to the chop all the time you either keep dumping it or you are just absolutely just pounding the shit out of it hard. Their engines are bullet proof and it isn’t uncommon for a ninja to go through 4 or more beginner riders during its life time. Anyone that tells you to buy a Harley over a ninja for your first bike is just trying to get your cash.
I agree. I am however heavily considering a Harley. I believe that both are good bikes, but the Ninja is definitely the default noob bike. I simply have a soft spot for Harleys.
I started out on a honda 650f. Traded it out for a Ninja 400 and I had a LOT more fun on it. Hauled my generous butt around without a problem. Sadly a deer destroyed it as well as my ankle. Tried an FZ07 after I recovered and not a fan of it. I haven't had the chance to try a sportster, but have really wanted to. I'm just a bit apprehensive because I do really like hitting the corners and getting a BIT of speed. The lack of a 6th gear (I do a little highway for a couple of hours at a time sometimes) has made me lean towards another naked or a sport bike. I'd love to look at the bigger cruisers, but they're almost double what a bike from japan winds up being so I'm limited financially too. Can't make up my mind.
I've had the chance to take an extended test ride on a 750. That was all kinds of fun but I would get in sooooo much trouble with that thing. As for the R1, if someone gave me the money....lol
Awesome video you guys. I have a ninja 400 but I know a lot of Harley people hahaha. It’s my first bike so it’s awesome. I really agree with a lot of what you said in the video. To me the bike is quick hahaha. I don’t think I would have gotten a Harley instead. God I fucking love leaning around corners and shit. I’m also like 150 pound and 5’10 . That thing moves me HAHAHAH. I cannot wait to get a Harley hahahah. So awesome
Why did you compare it to a 400 ,why not the 650 ,zx6r od Vulcan .Theese would destroy the harley . Sportster is so much more expensive than 400 ,2-3 times
People like me. I'm either buying a newer year model Ninja 400 for fun in-town riding, or buying a Harley sportster of older model for long haul and commuting. Pricing in my case would be similar, and I'm accepting of the responsibility of opening up the less reliable Harley myself if something goes wrong.
I'm actually comparing these two myself to decide which to purchase as a first bike. Newer Ninja or older Harley brings similar pricing. I don't want a 650, I am a moron and drive anything I own like I stole it, but an 883 is still controllable, as Harleys make less power per displacement
I don't want the hassle of choosing, so I bought both.

My sportster 48 is tuned and it smokes my ninja 400 but I definitely like the feel and handling of the 400 way more
Absolutely love the Harley Davidson Forty-Eight.

Not comparison.? wanna go fast buy a Kawasaki. wanna be slow and look the part and cruise buy a Harley! simple
Also the Kawasaki is only $5,000 brand new. The Harley 48 Sportster is $10,000 brand new.
I got 2 buddies who own harleys. They got BOATS. While I’m on my nimble ninja 400cc xDDD. Couldn’t be happier

Can't go real far on a 48 with that tank. The let down for that bike but look awesome
Yea they only have a range of 100 miles

Get a Yamaha R1
Lol jk. I have a ninja 400. My next bike might be a GSXR 750 or idk maybe something faster. Honestly idk. I’m focused on my bike noq

It makes absolutely no sense to compare a Sportster to a Ninja, when Kawasaki has the Vulcan S. IJS..
People like me are why. I don't want a Kawi cruiser, I'm either getting a small sport bike or getting a Harley Sportster, or perhaps later both bikes.
I'm going with the 48
They should have used a 650 atleast
I'm actually comparing these two myself to decide which to purchase as a first bike.

@@rainbowbunchie8237 yea I wanted to get a ninja zrx6 or a vrod! But I ended up with a suzuki intruder 1400 for my first bike lol
