For all those asking, this was simply a PowerPoint presentation captured to a video. Nothing tricky or special here and feel free to share. This is effectively for 12 and under players on small fields and with undeveloped arm strength. Of course there are other ways to do it, but this worked just fine with my team. They're now 16-17U and the basics remain, just with longer throws!
Would you mind if I use some of these graphics and added a voice over so I can post for a little league team I coach? (Or whoever else might find it useful)?
Great basic level defense fundamentals. These examples should be automatic in your head if your an infielder. I played SS most my life and nothing is more aggravating then playing with infielders whom have a low baseball iq. its how base runners take advantage and get an extra base. keeping the force out is pivotal to a great defense. Also you notice the outfielders are NOT making throws to the plate, which never get the runner out and the hitter is now at 2nd,etc.it might seem boring but controlling the runners with solid defense is important.
Bear in mind that the catcher stays home anytime there is a runner on base. With bases empty, he will back up first on a ground ball to the infield on a "shoot 'em" play from right field.
thats just happens when the hit is located between second and first base players who attempted to grab the ball and they didnt succeed.. to have a natural flow of the play they switch the position to avoid hurry movements.. if its a line drive over the second baseman then the normal cut off is the second baseman... I'm a first baseman
I don't understand the reason for a 1B to be a cut off man and having your 2B cover the 1B bag... why not having the 2Baseman cut off and the 1B on his bag? Help?
I love the idea of using a video like this to show kids how everything fits together rather than spending time in practice trying to yell across the field to what each player has to do in each situation. Did you use Microsoft Powerpoint to make this? How long did it take?
Why is 1B your cutoff on a ball hit to RF? Why isn't your second basemen the cutoff with 1B covering first base? Same thing on the left side. Why doesn't 3B cover third base on a ball hit to LF? Why is 3B your cutoff man? Why isn't SS your cutoff? Is there a reason 3B doesn't cover their own bag?
@@thomash.l.9382 Several reasons that I can think of...as you get older, the first baseman tend to be left handed so they take the cut facing the runner coming to 1st base. 2) First baseman also possess a bigger glove 13" vs. 11.5" 3) First baseman are trained more in handling catching short hops than 2Bs 4) Sending the 2Bs to first base creates the illusion that the base is uncovered and runners can over run the bag on perceived throws that might go to 3rd base. Catcher can yell"Cut 1" and the 2B sneaks in behind. Getting an out at 3rd base is preferred but generating an out anyway is a positive defensive outcome.
1) i played d1 baseball at rutgers 2) bigger glove is ridiculous reason 3) You look like your replying to the main comment and tagged me OR you read what i wrote wrong bc i was talking to another person who deleted their comment between now and 8 months ago. 4) have you ever back doored someone at first making a wide turn? lol @@jeffreycohen204
Take a look again Matt. You are correct that the CF should be moving toward the ball, and there's no scenario when this is not the case on this video. The CF is always backing up the right fielder on a hit to right. You must have not have viewed it correctly.
TheDelawareRaptors Hi... I saw several questions and no answer from you guys... and I am really interested in knowing what software was used to create this vid... send me a private message if you don't like to post it publicly...
Why have your second base man replace your 1st baseman. Isn’t easier to have your 1st baseman STAY on first and just have second baseman do the cut off? I see a lot of unnecessary movements.

Thanks for answering the queries.

Thanks this helped a lot! I was so confused in pratice doing these drills

Your sound is broken. Did check out baseball academics and that is a good site, too

Just so you know,, this only shows defense of singles, or balls in front of the OFers. It does not include extra base hits, or balls over OFers heads.

Wander I’ve been taught that shortstop is cut in that situation and not the first baseman
With a runner on first and the ball hit to right field, why not just drop the short stop into cut position and let the basemen cover their bases.

On a basehit to right, with runner on first, why does the 2b go to first, and the 1b go to cut-off for possible play to third
A shallow ball to right field no body on you can nail the guy at 1st.
Samlap25 subscribe to my UA-cam channel I post baseball videos
Also curious as to which application/tool you used to create this simulation of plays.

Your baseball iq is very low sir
he isn't wrong the the 1B cutting to 3 when hit to RF. it should be SS. but the others are way off

Are these slides in a power point or word version? I coach a 10U youth team and I would love to utilize these for their development.
Third baseman is a Cut to home on anything hit to left field. Be sure SS covers 3B bag once vacated by 3rd baseman!

this really help , thanks !
What Software are you using to show cuts and relays?
www.powerchalk.com use the ChalkTalk menu above and inside the telestrator, LOAD A and choose Diagrams. Hope that helps.
Nice!
The SS always has the throw to 3rd with a runner on 1st base, NOT THE 1st Baseman. 🤦♂️
cool
What program did you use this to capture the images?
Is 3rd base ever a cut
this sucks
Ask Derek Jeter why he was cut-off in the World Series and you'll be a asking how winning baseball is played.
Gnarly Bruhh.
this is all wrong the center fielder does not get in front of the second baseman on a base hit to right he should be moving towards the ball
somos face to face tv fausto ant rodriguez
hi
Really ?!?!? No audio on a instructional video ??? Very sloppy !!!!
I don't think so, it's pretty self explanatory so audio isn't needed.
