I knew it!!!!!!! As a guitarist I cover everyone and I been noticing how all these hit songs are my favorite type of songs MOTOWN. That’s all I care about. So now I know my plan. You my friend ARE SAYING TOO MUCH! Ppl like me gna take these free videos and evolve into monsters .!! I will definitely shout you out! You are indeed incredible! Knowledge is nothing but power! You are powerful!
You soooo right bro, the hottest sample rapper rn Shawny Bin Laden all songs slap & they be having popular song samples. I like making beats so ima definitely use this free game & watch it work 💯
Nice to see someone explain, I figured out the 20 year cycle a few years ago and looked back even to the 90s records that sampled the 70s. This works better these days when the stigma of “Biting” isn’t such an issue amongst producers.
This is why HitMaka is a hit maker, lol He’s all in the Atlantic catalog as he has a pub deal woth APG which is affiliated. Don’t quote me on none of that it’s just my observations through the years.
I’d also warn new producers that if you’re gonna sample you better be associated with a label. If you’re submitting hot tracks with samples to various places / labels, they’ll probably steal your idea and use the same sample.
so true. Daddy Yankee x Anuel sampled 'Thong Song' 20 years later= billions of streams...They had great market positioning, budget, all that you said. Great breakdown my friend
This is a good nugget. It is about the type of music you want to create in my opinion. I try to NEVER sample something that is noticable or was a huge hit from any era. Example how many times has Footsteps by Isley brothers been sampled on hip-hop? Over and over. I don't care to do that. Good video
This is so true! But we definitely need more sample clearance ability. I know I'm focusing on it heavily because in the Anime Rap genre, the foundation of the genre is sampling Anime music. We found one loophole by using cover licenses to sample and just uploading the beat to be listened to, but as far as making a whole new record out of it, we're still trying to figure that out.
At some point, I would like to see you dive a little deeper into music NFCs and how to get started in creating your own. I'm currently doing my own research on the subject and would like to see more info put out on this topic.
Usher and Summer Walker is 24 years sir, and what do you mean by this topic, if I sample a song within those timeframe I can use it for free? Is that what you're insinuating.
From what I learned, I watched a video from DJ Pain 1, who worked with major artists such as Jeezy and others, he said that producers cannot clear samples on their own . In order to do that, you have to get with the artist’s label to help you do that. The artist that you’re selling your beat to. If the sample can’t be cleared then it won’t be on the artist’s commercial album. You can release the track on a mixtape or indie album because that artist is not gonna sell a million copies or more.
The bigger the old hit the more you'll pay.. question ,do you think the labels that own the hits SEEK out artist to 'sell the samples to ,so they can charge and make more money, kinda getting paid double.. what u think
Get rich?? I dunno I mean these are all huge records . I hardly think kelani or her producer got rich off of taking a record that was way bigger in its time. lml i dont even think Pain getting rich off her using it. overall, we all know the label and the sampled artist are the real ones gonna earn in this situation
This is such an obvious scam. He’s saying it works in blocks of 5 year intervals, but his own examples aren’t in 5 year intervals. You could say any number and it will be coming up on an interval of 5. This is soooo stupid!!

Casey, how do I clear a sample, from a major label artist? You gave me an amazing idea. Thanks big time
In your contracts if the artist wants the track have their team negotiate and $$ for clearance or work out a publishing split

@@MusicMoneyMakeover that 20 year thing is great but why wouldn't you get everything? UNDER what circumstances can they retain rights? cause damn
The 🐐
Makes sense…
Yep
What's good with that Casey? I left my name!! 🤷🏾♂️🙎🏾♂️
does the new artist make money off of sampling that old song?
They do. In the form of an artist royalty.
👌🏿👌🏿👌🏿💯🔥😎⭐
*a lot of game in this video fa'sho sho*
