His suffering is minuscule compared to the parents and families who were so cruelty robbed of their precious children. He placed the weapon in his son’s hands.
Don't buy your troubled teens guns, silly parents !! He was accountable when he signed all the paperwork for guns and he's 100% accountable for what happens when the gun goes off !!!
I hope his son is NOT getting a free pass! Aside from the crimes his son committed, he betrayed his father's trust and got him put behind bars! I hope that kid learns a valuable lesson.
Not having the gun in a locker or safe is completely his fault. If you own a gun it should be locked with only you having the keys. The child shouldn’t have had unlimited access to it. Horrible parenting
The police had already been to the house for threats the kid made. Another kid with lots of red flags not delt with by a parent. Any absent parent should be punished as well, maybe if they took some responsibility for what they made
Kids HAVE become a liability these days. It's like you have to go to college to become a parent, not just parenting classes. They could one day betray you and hurt you in the worst way possible. I wish I wasn't living in this generation rn
Warranted but still sad. It really sucks for all involved…especially the victims of the shooting. I’ve gotten the impression this is real emotion from him.
I hope he gets a sentence of around 5 years to act as a deterrent to other parents. It is ridiculous that he bought his son a gun, particularly when he knows his son has 'issues'. I think the charges are excessive, but I do understand why they have been made.
Why not charge the FBI Agents that dropped the ball on reports of this kid making threats. They never followed through because it was the end of the school year. What about them????
Why do you assume any thing about hillybillys! Especially if you do not live In the south . We'll are some of the most giving ppl, we take care of each other. Shame on you.
You are a bigot. I live in the North and we have women keeping their guns in their purse and men leaving guns on shelves or under their pillows. Some have their weapons in their trucks and in full view of everyone. And the big city teen gangsters run around with weapons and their parents don't get held to be responsible. I have seen some kids with guns in the school parking lots.
My family being hunters & guides, we always had unlocked rifles in our home however, my siblings nor I ever had a mental illness that would drive us to shooting anyone. But this young man was troubled & his family, teachers, & school counsellor knew about it & obviously didn’t pay close enough attention. IMO. Lessons learned & examples made!
Why don't we start charging the gun stores who sold it as well? He definitely did not exercise proper gun safety but second-degree murder? Seems more like they are trying to make an example out of him. (And this is coming from someone who is very anti-gun violence and doesn't understand why semi-automatic guns are sold at all)
Because the right of the PEOPLE to keep and bear arms SHALL NOT be INFRINGED Taking guns will not prevent crime but will leave law abiding Americans without the ability to effectively defend themselves.
The FBI had visited the father and son as a result of what his son had been posting on the internet. He was well aware that his son was dangerous. So what does he do? He goes out and buys him an AK whatever. The father is a terrible parent. When the friggin FBI shows up at your house to interview you may want to pay attention to what they're telling you.
@@beverlywilliams7278 he’s sorry bc he knows his role in what happened. It could not have happened if not for the father’s reckless actions. Parents need to learn: do not give your kid a gun. It’s not that complicated
He was told (by the FBI if I remember correctly) that his son was threatening to shoot up a school and he STILL decided to buy that kid a gun and NOT make sure it was secure. He absolutely should be charged!
I actually agree. I’m against guns and I’m for harder restrictions, but to charge the parents for the crime of their child, is just so strange and does not make any sense to me. And then to keep him jailed and on high bond (just like the Crumbley’s) when he doesn’t pose any threat to society is crazy! They should definitely charge him for negligence or something similar but this?!
This is difficult. He was definitely negligent but I don’t think he should be held legally responsible for what his son did. It doesn’t make sense to me to go after him (and the Crumbleys) and stop at that. I just don’t think it’s right. And I’m definitely against guns and want more severe restrictions, but it still doesn’t make sense to me. Especially to jail them and put them on high bonds when they aren’t a threat to society.
I think the courts are simply trying to press the fact that Gun Safety Must be Followed. Gun safety means not allowing access to anyone but yourself to any weapon you may own. If mom and dad are lackadaisical with their children and exposure to guns, this is a major breach in Gun Safety. So, by holding the "parents" responsible as we saw with the Crumbleys and now this guy, it may make parents think long and hard about allowing their children to have access to guns (in their possession).
His son wouldn't have had a gun if he didnt provide it. This aint a video game this is a weapon he gave to his son. If the kid broke a neighbors window the parents would have to pay for it even though the parent didnt give him the rock. This case he actually gave the kid the rock (Weapon) so he's even more responsible.
What About The Innocent People That Would Still Be Alive If He As The Adult Had Not Bought The Gun And Handed It To His Kid And Turned Him Loose With It
what about when they buy guns, laser sights, and tactical vests for their teenagers and let them have unfettered access even after the FBI came knocking that a threat to shoot up a school came from his son's gaming platform?
We have to set a precedent somewhere somehow to stop this insanity 😮
We already did. Oxford shooter in Michigan parents are in prison
Karen McDonald did.
This is what happens when you start making parents accountable!
As harsh as it might look like, it's an initiative to prevent grown ups from buying and owning guns as if they were toys.
I think he was negligent.
This is so awful. I'm so sorry for all the victims families and loved ones..❤😢
But for his negligence there would have been no murders.
@cornishmaid9138 💔
Probably not. But still possible ...
I think he should be held accountable
He deserves to go to prison. He bought his son the gun after the FBI got involved knowing his son made threats.
His suffering is minuscule compared to the parents and families who were so cruelty robbed of their precious children. He placed the weapon in his son’s hands.
Mark my words: Holding the parents accountable will put a stop to this!
I am pro gun ownership 100% but I agree parents need to be held accountable when they make choices like this man made
What is he crying for? He felt nothing handing a gun as a present to his child!!!
So the parents of these horrible kids still take no responsibility??? Geez this is terrible! 😡
Who gives their unstable teenager a gun? Guilty as charged.
Many, many Americans do.
worse part, his dad gives the gun even though his son made some threats to start a school shooting
Don't buy your troubled teens guns, silly parents !! He was accountable when he signed all the paperwork for guns and he's 100% accountable for what happens when the gun goes off !!!
And not having them locked up in the house. IMO
Trying to make his weird son cool. Like the Crumbleys. And it backfired
yep. I agree 100%. He was more of a "encouraging friend" than a father.
I hope his son is NOT getting a free pass! Aside from the crimes his son committed, he betrayed his father's trust and got him put behind bars! I hope that kid learns a valuable lesson.
Why suddenly does he stop rocking at the end? His acting bit was pitiful.
you're right... i didn't notice that. all an act. how pathetic.
Children that don’t care about murdering someone do you think they care about what their parents thinks?
When the parents buy them the fun? Yea.
