- Real estate projects in the Nevada desert are flourishing thanks to an ambitious water project. With a 35-kilometre underground pipeline, Vidler Water Resources is bringing water under the desert straight into the sprawling suburbs of Reno, some 30 miles away. It is a gamble that could prove lucrative in a region regularly hit by droughts. But some worry about the long-term impact of these water transfers.

Maybe dont build new homes in a desert?
Madness.
Nothing is sacred to the Corp.
A plan that is doomed to fail, but that's just normal for the U.S.A where smart urban planning takes a back seat to profit. They just never learn.
who else learned ? .. 😃🙈🙉🙊
Yep! They’ll plop a suburb along a road and not do a damn thing to facilitate the traffic they’re adding.
Never say never. They will eventually, the hard way.
Why are you using blue text over blue skies and blue water? It’s hard to read!
You can "bet the farm" the 'developers' will have clauses in their contracts absolving them of ANY financial responsibility to the buyers/residents when the water is used up (a few years from now?). It'll be the "state/government", That's US, who will be asked/made to foot the bill. Somehow we must find a way/the courage to rein in the Hedge fund/Corporate greed machine which is LITERALLY selling our country to the highest bidder.
I wish they’d sell to Denmark. They seem to have a better handle on creating balanced communities.
Water will run out there soon. Aquifers are not refillable like cisterns I believe.
It takes approximately 100 years to refill an aquifer through natural filtration.
And humans - as smart as we think we are - can’t force it.
Aquifers are created by natural forces ONLY.
You should be asking how long can it all last, but are you?
