I bought this same model with the range extender and couldn't be happier! I am a big, solid guy 5'10" and 240 and have had zero issues with range or powering up hills. This bike is so comfortable to ride and I seriously love how stealth and stripped down it is (I use my phone to track mileage etc anyways). With the range extender I did a 75 mile round trip and still had battery left when I returned to my vehicle! This is with a rack carrying my food and overnight camping gear (super stripped down to be honest bare bones gear). I am looking forward to more of your videos about your experiences on this bike. I added gravel tires, suspension seat post and wider bars with extended grips to mine as well as clip in pedals.
Thanks for watching! I also added bigger tires, different pedals, adding the suspension seat post before I take it out for a distance test. Your mileage is impressive! I do love this bike!
Hey Justin I have been looking for a range extender but theyve been sold out for a while now. If you ever decide on selling it lmk!!! I would definitely be interested!
What kind of terrain and ride setting did you get 75+ miles? Considering getting one of these plus a range extender or maybe even two so I can do the Oregon coast bike route next year. 60+ miles a day minimum
I now know why you don't do a review of the Velotric Range Extender battery, because it does not work and you don't want to leave a negative feedback. The Velotric Range Extender battery doesn’t work as advertised. It doesn’t truly extend the range of the bike as you might expect. Essentially, I have to turn off the bike while riding or stopped to allow the Range Extender to recharge the main battery. It feels more like a way to help you manage a long ride rather than a true extension of battery life. I typically turn it on at the start of my ride and let it do its thing. Once the main battery runs out, I turn off the bike completely while pedaling. The Range Extender recharges the main battery as I pedal manually. After about 30 minutes to an hour, I turn the bike back on to regain some power for the ride, then repeat the process until either the ride ends, or the Range Extender battery is depleted.
I will be reviewing it. I will just be reviewing it with the T1st Plus version hopefully in October. So many reviews to do it makes it hard to do these secondary reviews but I definitely want to see how this thing performs.
Perfect timing! I was actually looking to buy this for my T1! It is very pricey though. At $400, I would expect it to come with its own charger brick so that it can be charged separately while the bike itself is also being charged.
@@scotthardesty True. I just don't see how that capacity of battery can be that expensive. If they priced it lower, they may have a lot more people buying it but what do I know? Maybe the bottle like shape had to be custom made and other things drove up production costs.
I’m super curious how how much decent range on sport mode you get with range extender , I m stuck with either getting this t model or Lectric3.0 or the g force 7 , I’ll be commuting from little village to oak brook , waiting for updates, thank for review, subscribed
Thanks for the sub. I won't be able to test that theory out until next month. Just wanting the weather to start staying better so I can fit it in between bike reviews.
I've been looking at throwing one of the power banks on the back of my packer. Honestly, with an extra battery holding 700 watt hours, that might be the better buy.
Agree with sociop... How much just to get a 2nd battery for the Velotric & how much does that 2nd battery weight compared to the extender. How many more miles does the extender get compared to an extra battery. In other words, how much bang for the buck extender vs batt?
@@danhall3450 depends on your use cases too. If you had one of those solar battery banks, you can charge your phone or laptop... Plug-in power tools. You're going to have more weight because of the inverter and the plugs and such but your cost per watt hour is about the same or better with just buying an extra battery. I can see the solar generator would definitely be better if I was planning on camping or something. Plus you could always add a couple foldable solar panels to charge it
I have the bike but am waiting for the extender. They are back ordered. Do you turn the extender battery on at all times for longer rides and the two batteries balance out? Or do you try to wait until battery #1 gets low and then turn the extender battery on?
Scott, really love your videos. As an owner of a T1St, I'm curious if you can provide a more detailed video of this product. I've read conflicting things about how it works and I am curious if it is worth getting. Also, how about a Ramblas vs Summit video? Thanks for all the information you put out.
I have a distance test coming up with the T1sT and the battery extender. I do want to do a Ramblas/Summit video but at the moment, the Ramblas is in the shop getting some upgrades and then I have the Summit going in for new forks install. I totally dropped the ball on doing a comparison video with both of these bikes stock but I felt the front forks on the Ramblas and the Summit could use an upgrade. Once those are done, I plan on putting them both to the test on a trail. I will taking about the upgrades, why I did them, what was done, the cost and see how they both handle. Although, I did purchase the limited edition Ramblas and I could use it stock and wait to add the forks on the Summit. Then it would be stock bike against stock bike. yeah, I think I will do that, it won't be until around the first week of June.
I'm waiting to see the extender review too. I've seen some T1 ST owners unable to get dynamic charge to work, and a few say the extender only works for them when the bike is powered off. Velotric says it should provide a constant charge if the bike is powered on and PAS is not in use. Dynamic charge should work while using PAS on hills or other times where a lot of effort is being used to pedal.
@@joec8142 That is also how I understand it. I have a lot of new e-bikes that have come in that I am trying to knock out before the Battery Extender video but weather is not helping at all. I wanted to get 2 reviews out this week and it has rained every day. Ugh.
@@scotthardesty Probably no need to rush on the extender test. It's been backordered for a few months now anyway. Given the varied user reviews, I'd just like to see how it does with the T1 ST before actually I buy one.
@@scotthardesty Not connect them both at the same time, I mean if its possible to install/fit both range extenders cage on the frame. Plus its just back in stock as of today
I have not. After doing this video, I was told a new version of the T1ST was coming out, which is the T1ST Plus and was asked to hold off on the test and do it with the Plus model. I now have reviewed the T1st Plus and will be doing a Distance Test with the Range Extender with that bike once I get caught up on these reviews.

Tell me truthfully... did you have pairing issues with the ebike and phone App??
Truthfully, No. This bike doesn't connect to the phone app. Maybe that is your issue. The T1 connects to the app but not the T1st.
