I like to thank you for what you are doing. I love your "gojo" it is beautiful! they did a wonderful job! I wish I have one in my backyard :)
I understand our people in Israel would be the first generation for this experience (living abroad/western style); considering the life style they had in rural Ethiopia. The fact that they made it to Israel made it feel like a success to most; I am afraid that might be one of the many reasons for our kids to be the way they are.
For the racist people to say " they are not going to make it"; I say you are stereotyping, and you are blocking the road to succession of our children. I say come to America, and UK where there is education & opportunity without segregation, and you'll see so many of us succeeding in academic and business.
I was saddened to see my people; some sitting in the street of (Telaviv) talking to themselves. When I spoke to most of them they all told me how they were treated in Israel; as second citizen.
I have traveled to most of Europe, South + Central America and Asia, I track down Ethiopians and talked to them about their experience. They are all holding tight to their "Ethiopiawinte Kurat"
I was a bit shocked to see the level of the self-esteem of (Ethiopians in Israel) because, we Ethiopian don't feel that way any where we go. No way!! We actually feel and believe that we have a beautiful country, better values, and an amazing culture. That is something to hold your chin up!!
What I want to say to my sister is please, consider using your language when you talk to Ethiopians, and use your second (Hebrew) if necessary. Please, encourage our children to learn "amharic fidel", and use Amharic for any community get-together events.
Thank you so much for what you are doing. chin up! let our kids know that racism is ignorance and a sickness. Keep up the good work my sister!!!
thank you again!! you are an ambassador for your people. I am very proud of you
You are Ethiopian and should be proud.
