Loving the 1080p 60 frames per second your recording in - everything looks so crisp and true to life on all your footage. Thanks for taking the time to review - really enjoy watching your content. Thanks.
That is a really well thought out filter, modular too, so you can choose to take just a small part or the whole thing. When it comes back in stock I plan on getting one.
Wait.. shouldn't you install these in REVERSE configuration??? meaning filter no1 goes closest to the source, then 2 in the middle and 3(viruses, so finest of them all) closest to the mouthpiece?
Doesn't matter which way you install them but I'd prefer to place the best filter #3 inline first so it filters the majority of bad water first and then pass through the bacteria and chemical filters.
Using MUV1 Activated Carbon Fiber will remove pesticides, heavy metals, chemicals, and more. This is why we made sure we still used activated carbon fiber in our system. MUV3 Nanalum will also remove those same contaminants. The filter is a huge upgrade compared to the Trio. The Trio was and is a good filter, but MUV is much more advanced and much more versatile.
Connectors between the filter components looks very flimsy and i'm almost sure they're gonna leak. no rubber gaskets in between. did you do an actual test with water involved? looks good though
The Eclipse kit, which Ben was showing, is $125. You can see it here: renovowater.com/muv-eclipse-water-filter.html We do have other kits with different price ranges.
This is totally awesome, and just got added to my "wish list". I love my Sawyer Mini, but planning a trip to Africa next year and was wondering how to have virus protection with my water filter. I love the suggestion to put the hollow tube filter first to extend the life of the other two filters.... Big thumb's up!
Ben or Renovo water--how would one know when to replace MUV 1 and 3--or when you hit the 150 gallon and 90 gallon stage? Do they just stop working? MUV2 has a 100,000 capacity--not so concerned with this.
The flow will drastically slow. Activated Carbon also doesn't last forever, so it is a good idea to replace MUV1 every other year to make sure it is in best shape.
Yes, you do need to back flush the hollow fiber membrane (MUV2). This will give you virtually a lifetime of use. It can be used in freezing temperatures, but we recommend you immediately put it in a warm place. Like inside your jacket so your body heat doesn't allow it to freeze. If you allow the water inside the hollow fiber to freeze it will potentially burst the tubes and ruin your filter. That is the case with all hollow fiber filters as Living Survival mentioned.
Thanks! I can envision a scenario where everyone in a Family or a small group would have Section 2, then someone else would have the rest to be used at Base Camp. And I can see it for a Home Emergency Kit for use in Aftermath of a Natural Disaster. Hope it gets restocked soon!
Thanks for the comments Leslie. You are correct in your observation. We will be selling all of the individual pieces and the Tote Gravity Bag or the Rush Pump are perfect for groups. We are shipping to our Kickstarter backers first and then will make them available on our site. Most packages will be available this week.
I backed this on Kickstarter, the survivalist model. I like the quality, It was worth the wait. I think they should use this vid on their website. Well done.
I really like this piece of kit. It seems that it's only available through the Renovo website. Thanks for another great product, Ben. Happy Thanksgiving! Laura
It will be available through our distribution network, but it is brand new and will take a bit of time to get it out to them. It will be available on our site later this week.
I have been looking for a kit like this. Planning a long hike this coming spring and all the other kits like this are large and bulky. Will be buying one as soon as they are available.
Not only do they have the best product's but they also have the the best customer service I've seen. Thank you, this is an impt vid. I cant wait to purchase one. Ben to you n ypur family, have a Blessed & Bountiful Thanksgiving
Why would they make the virus filter the first stage? It requires much higher level of filtration than bacteria and protozoa. Basically, if it's gonna stop viruses, it should stop the bacteria and protozoa since they are huge in comparison to virus cells. Seems like it makes more sense to filter the big stuff first, and then move to the much smaller items like viruses
Yes. You can actually put them into any configuration you want. We recommend you always start with MUV2, hollow fiber, and then put additional filters if needed on top. MUV2 can be back flushed where the other two cannot. This gives you the longest life for all of your filters.
I just saw your old video about this filter today wow. I went to their web site and they are out of stock. I have the old trio which they don't sell anymore.
We are shipping to our Kickstarter backers first and then will make them available on our site. Most packages will be available this week. The Trio was great, but it got knocked off by some other companies and we wanted to create something new that no one was doing.
piece one does 150 gallons, 2 does 100,000 gallons, and part 3 does 90 gallons......so we really need to just use part 2 for every day use and only use part 1 and 3 in a need to enviroment correct?
I was thinking use 2 for every day use and 3 in sources with norovirus warnings and 1 for any smelly or chemically questionable water. It's a pretty cool system and they managed to keep the weight down.
You are correct and that is how we would recommend using MUV. It doesn't make a lot of sense to use MUV1 and MUV3 when you only need bacteria protection. But it sure is nice to have them when the need arrises.
Renovo Water it's just a little different than most that I have used. Seems like a awesome product. Pricing is good to.. Great review thanks for showing Ben.
You can back flush MUV2, the hollow fiber filter. The other two filters, MUV1 Activated Carbon Fiber and MUV3 Nanalum, cannot be back flushed as they work through adsorption and not size exclusion like the MUV2.
Renova Water-How would you know when to replace MUV 1 and 3--or when you hit the 150 gallon and 90 gallon stage? Do they just stop working? MUV2 has a 100,000 capacity--not so concerned with this.
They will slow to a trickle but we recommend keeping a physical or mental log of how much water you have filtered. Depending on your water clarity, they will filter more or less.
Both about the same. The pump allows you to capture water from a water source. The bag allows you to carry water to camp for example and then filter it.
We are shipping to our Kickstarter backers first and then will make them available on our site. Most packages will be available this week. You can see all of our filter packages here: renovowater.com/muv.html
There is a "Nomad" version which looks to be just the stage 3 MUV3 filter and a water bottle for $34. The Survivalist includes all three MUV water filters. The Survivalist is the main one shown in the video- can be used as a straw, as a gravity system with the included bucket adapter, inline with a hydration reservoir or gravity bag- the bag is not included. This is $59. The above with the 10L gravity bag is $69. The 3 part filter with the pump ("Backcountry") is $79 (no bag). The "Eclipse" is everything- water bottle, 3 part filter, pump, 10L bag. $125.
KamiyaK the prices you quoted were for replacement filters only, not the adapters, etc. $59 is for the 3 filters plus the adapters for inline system and bottles.
Thank you and yes, we did drop off the face of the earth for a little bit. We went completely back to the drawing board and created something that we felt wasn't being done. We hope you like it.
Thanks for the reply. Actually I've wondered why no one was making a modular filter. I'm a fan of modular anything for the sake of efficiency and capability, and it appears you've engineered a well thought out design. Very impressive.
Thanks for the compliment. Our filters range in price from $34 - $125, depending on the kit you choose. You can see all of our different kits here: renovowater.com/muv.html
Living Survival I jus wanna be able to get it on Amazon an I'm really hoping it doesn't leak in between the pcs that would be ballz the concept is very awsome thu
This is brilliant. I love that you don't have to toss the whole thing once a filter gets to the end of it's life cycle. The pump options seems invaluable in my opinion.
Activated Carbon Fiber (MUV1) removes chemicals, pesticides, fuels, metals, etc. from water. Hollow fiber, whether our MUV2 filter of Sawyer Mini, will not remove chemicals or any of the other contaminants I mentioned above.
Well you learn something new everyday. Living in the rockies (mining wastes), removal of those things is kinda necessary in my eyes, so i guess i need a new filter!
Be aware. The pump is junk. Bought one and will not pump any water. Learn from my mistake and ditch it. If you still don't believe me go ahead and find out for yourself. Read the reviews from Amazon.
Renovo sent me a gasket today. They claim the original gasket inside the housing sometimes let air in. The new and larger gasket should solve the issue. I'll test it out once I receive. If that's the case, they should fix it on their end prior to shipping rather than have the consumer scratching their heads why the dam thing don't work. They know it but it's a don't ask don't tell deal.
Loving the 1080p 60 frames per second your recording in - everything looks so crisp and true to life on all your footage.
Thanks for taking the time to review - really enjoy watching your content. Thanks.
thanks for watching Ryan.
That is a really well thought out filter, modular too, so you can choose to take just a small part or the whole thing. When it comes back in stock I plan on getting one.
We are shipping to our Kickstarter backers first and then will make them available on our site. Most packages will be available this week.
What about cleaning? Do you have to backflash it like most of the other filters out there on each use. Thanks great video.
charles Hice yes you can backflush it
Love it. I can't believe it's taken manufacturers so long to come out with a modular design like this.
Except there totally made in China which is a disappointment
Wait.. shouldn't you install these in REVERSE configuration??? meaning filter no1 goes closest to the source, then 2 in the middle and 3(viruses, so finest of them all) closest to the mouthpiece?
Doesn't matter which way you install them but I'd prefer to place the best filter #3 inline first so it filters the majority of bad water first and then pass through the bacteria and chemical filters.
Thanks Ben. I did the Kickstarter for the Eclipse and your video really makes me so much happier that I did. Great video!!!
How well does this filter do with pesticide or farm run off water?
Is this filter a drastic upgrade compared to the original renova filter?
Using MUV1 Activated Carbon Fiber will remove pesticides, heavy metals, chemicals, and more. This is why we made sure we still used activated carbon fiber in our system. MUV3 Nanalum will also remove those same contaminants. The filter is a huge upgrade compared to the Trio. The Trio was and is a good filter, but MUV is much more advanced and much more versatile.
Have you had any issues with the adapters breaking?
Awesome video with very good explanation of all of the various configurations.
Connectors between the filter components looks very flimsy and i'm almost sure they're gonna leak. no rubber gaskets in between. did you do an actual test with water involved? looks good though
Thank you for the great review and easy to follow descriptions. Keep up the great work.
Any price listings for what you showed?
The Eclipse kit, which Ben was showing, is $125. You can see it here: renovowater.com/muv-eclipse-water-filter.html We do have other kits with different price ranges.
Awesome unit and review. I remember when you got the prototype. This filter is the deal.
It doesn’t screw onto any water bottles I bought at Costco. What water bottles exactly will it screw onto?
You explained the system very well. Much appreciated. Excellent video.
Thanks for the info. the directions that came with mine were not clear at all.
Do you need to back flush the hollow fibre membrane? Can you use in freezing temps? I'm guessing not.
You can't use any hollow fiber in freezing temps.
Living Survival Thought so. Thank you.
Yes, you do need to back flush the hollow fiber membrane (MUV2). This will give you virtually a lifetime of use. It can be used in freezing temperatures, but we recommend you immediately put it in a warm place. Like inside your jacket so your body heat doesn't allow it to freeze. Renovo Water Sweet! Thank you.
Looks like a very versatile system. Thx for the good review Ben
Thanks! I can envision a scenario where everyone in a Family or a small group would have Section 2, then someone else would have the rest to be used at Base Camp. And I can see it for a Home Emergency Kit for use in Aftermath of a Natural Disaster. Hope it gets restocked soon!

Great review, awesome product. Thanks. Tony
Cool video I have one of those straws they’re very good they make the water taste amazing and they are so useful
Cool and good concept! Thx for showing.
Hi! Thank you for this very detailed test!
I backed this on Kickstarter, the survivalist model. I like the quality, It was worth the wait.
I think they should use this vid on their website.
Well done.
thanks thomas, you will be happy with it.
Thanks for backing us on Kickstarter, and I agree, this is a great product video.
I really like this piece of kit. It seems that it's only available through the Renovo website. Thanks for another great product, Ben. Happy Thanksgiving! Laura
It will be available through our distribution network, but it is brand new and will take a bit of time to get it out to them. It will be available on our site later this week.
Thank you for this information.
Looks like something that I may need to add to my kit. Thanks for the video.
I love the idea being able to mix amd match but dang that is huge compared to others. The lifestraw flex does 2/3 but isnt much bigger than the mini
Wow looks like a pretty practical design! Cheers, Marc
I have been looking for a kit like this. Planning a long hike this coming spring and all the other kits like this are large and bulky. Will be buying one as soon as they are available.
Great review, Ben. Looks like a good product, well thought out.
Not only do they have the best product's but they also have the the best customer service I've seen. Thank you, this is an impt vid. I cant wait to purchase one. Ben to you n ypur family, have a Blessed & Bountiful Thanksgiving
thanks and have a great thanksgiving to you and your family as well.
Company has been sold
Very Cool! Thanks for sharing!
Do they have a modular unit for salt water to fresh water
No, you need a desalinator for that.
Wow they have thought of everything. Looks great.
The virus does everything the 1st and 2nd stage does so you could really only use that.
The threads look like you may be able to put 3 in the middle so water would go 2 - 3 - 1. Is that true?
Yes. You can actually put them into any configuration you want. We recommend you always start with MUV2, hollow fiber, and then put additional filters if needed on top. MUV2 can be back flushed where the other two cannot. This gives you the longest life for all of your filters.
just on the site, and they are out of stock on all product kits...
not yet released.
We are shipping to our Kickstarter backers first and then will make them available on our site. Most packages will be available this week.
I just saw your old video about this filter today wow. I went to their web site and they are out of stock. I have the old trio which they don't sell anymore.
the new one is just released. stay tuned.

Another great review and another interesting product.
Way cool filter kit.
Great bit of kit
Interesting! Thank you.
Very nice man i really like this one thank you Thank you Ben
wow this is awesome filter!!!!
Finally received mine. Cant wait to get it out for some testing. I like the backcountry water pump option, I might need to order that.
will you be doing a review?
Thank you Skill2Survive for backing us on Kickstarter and for sticking with us while we got production figured out. We hope you love MUV.
What kinda of weights are we looking at? I can't seem to find any info.
IN THIS DAY AND AGE Yes, hopefully soon.. 😁
Jeff Albers I'm not sure.. @renovowater would have to answer that. I think they are trying to get all of the Kickstarter orders out first..
Great video. Too bad the product comes with a bunch of pieces and no carrying case. Not sure what to do with all this stuff, might return it.
Hi Ben thank you for the video that is really cool information on the filter system I really appreciate your videos God bless.
Out of Stock. Dang and I wanted one. Ugh
stay tuned. just released.
Living Survival thanks brother
We are shipping to our Kickstarter backers first and then will make them available on our site. Most packages will be available this week.
Renovo Water Thank You For the quick response. I'll check your website in a few weeks.
In stock
piece one does 150 gallons, 2 does 100,000 gallons, and part 3 does 90 gallons......so we really need to just use part 2 for every day use and only use part 1 and 3 in a need to enviroment correct?
yep, #2 is the one you will use the most. similar to a sawyer filter.
Wow... this is awesome!
I'd be wanting a blue coloured hose adapter, so I can keep them separate, apart from that it looks great.
That is a great suggestion. Thank you.
can you backflush it or clean it somehow?
You can back flush MUV2, the hollow fiber filter. The other two filters, MUV1 Activated Carbon Fiber and MUV3 Nanalum, cannot be back flushed as they work through adsorption and not size exclusion like the MUV2.
Thanks for the answer!
What's faster the gravity system or the pump???
Both about the same. The pump allows you to capture water from a water source. The bag allows you to carry water to camp for example and then filter it.
pretty neat system
nice kit!!!
How much is "reasobly priced"?
$59.00 for all three sections and a few extras.
muv1: $10
muv2: $24
muv3: $29
total before shipping & tax: $63
aint got a clue where $59 got pulled out of from the previous comment
We are shipping to our Kickstarter backers first and then will make them available on our site. Most packages will be available this week. You can see all of our filter packages here: renovowater.com/muv.html

That should stir the pot and wake up the competition. And it's good to know that Renovo didn't fall into a black hole. They disappeared for awhile.
They are in stock as of now just ordered the whole bundle.
Nice!
Excellent review very informative 👍
Sounds like they used their heads and engineered a great product. Hats off to them. Hope it’s not too terribly expensive.
Thanks for the compliment. Our filters range in price from $34 - $125, depending on the kit you choose. You can see all of our different kits here: renovowater.com/muv.html
IT FINALY EXISTS ! WHUT WHUUT!
HAHA, IKR!
Living Survival I jus wanna be able to get it on Amazon an I'm really hoping it doesn't leak in between the pcs that would be ballz the concept is very awsome thu
I have mine I'll be testing it today. I have the complete set.
You are one hell of a reviewer! Not kissing ass either.
neat idea
thanks for checking it out.
hell yeah, im doing a mississippi headwaters trip this june and this is intriguing
This is brilliant. I love that you don't have to toss the whole thing once a filter gets to the end of it's life cycle. The pump options seems invaluable in my opinion.
Good review.
awesome new product
thanks .
I like it
So you have to have a carbon filter for chemicals? Dang, I really like my sawyer mini
We are in the same boat as we are in Salt Lake and there is tons of mining and agriculture. Activated carbon is very important to us.
HA! Im down in Sevier county
I love how Utah is such a boom town of products these days, so many guns and gear companies, youtubers and the like, its awesome
Way too many “moving” parts that for me makes it not worth it.
It's only versatile if you can buy it, lol...
coming soon.
We are shipping to our Kickstarter backers first and then will make them available on our site. Most packages will be available this week.
I will not be purchasing this product. Too many bad reviews from verified buyers on Amazon. Please check for yourself before deciding.
I was wondering what happened to them. they just stopped producing the trio out of no where. hey what happened to the zombie vids they were too funny?
Extremely sloppy video. Tons of mistakes. Can't believe they feature it on their website.
does it remove whale semen
Be aware. The pump is junk. Bought one and will not pump any water. Learn from my mistake and ditch it. If you still don't believe me go ahead and find out for yourself. Read the reviews from Amazon.
I had a problem with the pump too but it ended up being the #1 filter and not the pump. Test it out with your other filters.
Save your money and use MUV 1 instead of MUV 3 for water bottle filtration unless you are traveling abroad. Greedy bastards!
MUV is simply a carbon filter. If choosing only one filter go with the MUV2.
I meant like to EDC to the office, park, etc.
👏🏽👋🏼
