- Опубліковано 22 лип 2024
- In the second part Johnny talks a little more about the safety and functionality of the new Glock performance trigger. He does a comparison of 3 setups with the new Glock performance trigger and tests them side-by-side.
In the first video he installed the Johnny Glocks VEX shoe to see if it was viable. In this video he goes over how his VEX shoe upgrade drastically increases the action and performance of the Glock performance trigger. He also discusses adding other components to his shoe to make it an incredibly safe and predictable defensive carry option.
3 Setups Compared:
1) Stock Glock performance trigger dropped right in
2) Glock performance stock except VEX proprietary trigger shoe, minimized pre-travel. zero over-travel, short reset
3) Glock performance trigger with the VEX and plus performance enhanced connector

All jokes aside this trigger is the first thing Glock has come out with in about 30 years that’s a significant change. The whole thing about the Timney was that it changed how the Glock system worked. Now Glock has said “bet” and they took the initiative to do something outside their comfort zone. Way to go Glock.
I would say the Glock 46 was a significant change more than this trigger
Aiden Hall I agree, I have been saying that to people and they get really butt hurt. The only thing Glock has done in 30 years is slide cuts and Optics. I see it as with all the new technology other gun Co. have been coming out with it leaves Glock, well in the 80s where it came from.
Call it 35 years. Die Hard came out in 88. It was the first pistol my little brother wanted to rent at the range when he was 10. I have always been meh about Glock triggers until now. I wanna try this one with the stock connector because a rolling break is my thing. I don’t choke up on the wall running a stage, so it’s not a big deal for my use case.
@@somebrains5431 I never owed a Glock till a year or so ago. Mine reason the trigger. I finely got a Gen 5. Everyone said it was the best yet. All I can say if that's the best yet it's sad, very sad. I wouldn't even take it to the range until I put the Timney Alpha Com. trigger in it. I have a few Glocks and 3 P80s now but the same for all of them. Brand new I refused to even try the stock triggers. All of mine where 6 to 7 lbs. break NIB. long pretravel mush, sponge break and long reset. The very first Glock I got failed right out of the box. The recoil spring was winding off the end of the guide rod, couldn't get more than 2 or 3 rounds off. I only put the triggers in them and didn't take the slides apart so the gun came that way.
@@24skeemers The G46 isnt really a change because its only for some police and no general change. I once was intersted in rotating barrel pistols but from what I have read about rotating barrels is that they are not as reliable as the simple tilting barrel lock.
Thanks for going into such detail in this 2 part segment. It's great to see everything from a hands on point of view and get to hear your opinion on it. I look forward to ordering the performance trigger and a vex shoe upgrade.
Thank you for talking about real life carry needs on a trigger. To many people think that a good trigger only means light as possible as all their reference to shooting is on a 1 way static range.
Agreed, it's the people that don't shoot that always think the lightest is the best. On my part, I perform better without a stout wall, especially on the balance of speed and accuracy. I put Apex trigger kits in some G19 Gen 5 MOSs and used one in an MSP instructor course. It did great and proved that custom triggers can help with performance, just like they do in rifles.
This comes from the 1911 elite people
@@pointman73I don’t even think it’s the people who “don’t shoot” who claim this. It’s mostly gun tubers and the 1911 elitist who push the lighter and shortest is the best.
Thanks Jack and crew. I have a Gen 3 and never matured past that. Have 3 of your triggers and Johnny Glocks is what I live by….
My brother, I am sitting here watching your videos and they are so interesting. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience. You have definitely given me knowledge about my Glock, that would have taken me forever to find and understand.👍🏼
I really enjoy this Glock nerd. I can watch his videos all day. So much knowledge. Even when he does go off topic, it is all still relevant. I don't follow many people, but I follow this guy. No BS.
I bought the full kit when I bought my Johnny Glocks combat trigger, and vex shoe and I couldn’t be happier, money well spent. Everything looks beautiful.
This is one of the most fascinating and clearest presentations of what would otherwise be minutae that I’ve seen.
Couldn't resist grabbing your vex shoe along with the plus connector for mine! Thanks, I can't wait for everything to get here! And the icing on the cake is my initials are J.G. and having that JG engraved into it I thought was sweet!
Excellent video Johnny, sold me on the vex and performance trigger.
I love John and purchase from him all the time along with all my friends thats one hell of a guy with awesome honest qualities and energy
Sir, your explanations and knowledge of all things Glock, is most impressive. KNOWING why Glock is such a fabulous system, is vital to those of us who trust and believe in these products. I’m glad that I had replaced Timney and earlier Glock triggers for my former Gen 5 G34s, and now my Gen 5 G47MOS and Gen 5 G26. Another vital factor in having Glocks, is confidence in knowing you get, and have, the best. Thank-You, Sir, for all you do, and please keep teaching!
I found the Easy way to reattach the performance trigger bar. I got my trigger today and while knocking off the old trigger shoe for the vex, the trigger bar disconnected from the housing. I had seen you struggle with it in the previous video, so I took a deep look, and it is so obvious how this is designed to make reconnecting the bar so easy. Just flip the trigger housing upside down, so the spring is exposed, then use a small screwdriver or whatever you have to compress the spring, this pushes out a polymer "T" bar that will fit into a slot in the housing. While compressing the spring, squeeze with your index finger and thumb to push the sear down and that "T" bar into the slot. Use only the tip of your finger to hold it down and then slide the trigger bar into the slot at the bottom of the spring and back through the housing. Easy and good design by Glock.
Wow…crazy you can get that significant of a change from your shoe design. Good job buddy! Love your videos! Never thought I’d find Glock triggers to be so interesting haha
Hello Johnny, I am very great full tO finally hear a expert use the words ADRENALIN/TRIGGER PRESS, in the same scenario. Far to many shooters think their carry gun needs the same trigger feel as their LRP bolt gun.
I've always preferred the + connectorfor the firm wall. Now i understand why thank you.
looking forward hopefully to the polished performance trigger with Vex from Johnny Glocks
Great video once again! So informative, keep them coming.
Great customer service! I emailed Johnny about my concerns/opinions with the performance trigger. I had a reply same day. He took his time to answer my email and address my questions. I ordered the vex with the connector after reading his email.
Does his performance vex shoe come with the glocks performance trigger but with the vex trigger?
@@Steamy_Dumpling this is just the vex trigger it’s self (the trigger shoe) and connector if you select that option. The performance trigger feels good but the trigger itself, the shoe, is a weird shape in my opinion. It seems fatter across the surface and the trigger safety seems small and hard to engage at times. At least for me. That’s why I went with the vex
I bought a trigger from you a while ago and also sent in my GEN five Glock 17 so I have a GEN four of your trigger and then you worked on my GEN five. The triggers have worked phenomenally. It’s been over four years I live in Washington I ended up talking to you on the phone. Also you have a great customer service and I seriously amazing product bro.
Thanks Johnny! Thinking I’ll stick to the Timney. Just placed an order for the upgrade shoe and spring that you have. The red spring still feels anemic so I’m looking forward to switching this out along with your trigger shoe.
Always enjoy your videos
They are informative and enjoyable to watch, that's a hard combination to have so
👍👍👍👍👍
Yes! You answered my over and pre travel questions
Nice, I just watched Pt. 1 yesterday.
Always enjoy your videos, great information
Love learning about all the relationships between the parts and what effects they cause,
The trigger with the new shoe looks amazing
Great video JG, love the demos.
Just ordered the Vex Shoe for the Performance trigger. I am looking forward to it
Thank you Johnny for your videos!!!
Top notch. Can't wait for the next video.
The Wizard did it again! Amazing, love the insight and wisdom you share. I love my Evo. X Combat in my Gen 5 19 w/your flat metal shoe and the Timney Combat conv. Kit made a whole world of difference on my Gen4-19 for carry. Oh, and the Vex shoe made my 43x a pleasure to shoot. Thanks bro!
I’ve been shooting Glocks since 1987. Never had too much heartburn with the stock triggers although it seems like the ribbed “target” triggers of the compact and smaller have gotten sharper coupled with some likely soft tissue trigger finger damage I’ve suffered over the years. The absolute worst is the 43X (I have two). I like other aspects of this pistol, but the trigger shoe kills me - like stroking a dull axe blade about 200 times. I’ve been skeptical about modified triggers as Glock OEM, regardless of how awkward it may seem, it pretty solid and reliable. Besides, I worked in a field for a long time that frowned upon trigger mods. But I as impressed with your presentation and may take a hard look at some of your products form the slim frame pistols. And your coke t about unintentional shots with modded triggers in on the money. Once was shooting a highly modded competition Glock and discovered I was getting on the trigger during my draw a lot faster than I thought when I skipped a round across the range floor. Never did that with a 5.5.
Excellent explanation 👍👍
Yer the gold standard of GLOCK revealed. 👍👍
I just installed the new trigger with your Vex shoe and the + connector in my Glock 45 and WOW, everything you said is 100% true, it's fantastic. Just got back from the range putting a hundred rounds though it and I am thoroughly delighted. 1. As a recent convert from 1911 to Glock (I'm an old fart), I will say nothing is like a 1911 trigger, but you are probably correct, nothing else in a Glock is closer to it than your setup. 2. You were not lying when you said dealing with that little spring was a PITA. Took me almost ten minutes. I suspect with practice, it gets better, but it is incredibly fiddly. I just bought your entire package for my G26 Daily Driver, can't wait to drop that in. Wonderful stuff, sir! Thank you for the excellent video. And I second the comments on "real life" safety in the trigger. Even in my highly smithed premium 1911 pistols, I never went below 4.5#. Love the glass rod break but don't need to cook off a few rounds because I'm an excitable boy. You are so right about that. A great trigger can stand a little more pull weight. A lousy trigger with a low pull weight is, well, it makes no sense to me, that's for sure.
For me just a shout out. Thanks for your video/update/All Pro !!!!!!!
Great demonstration. Ty!
Sir that tape idea is great!
I run a Vex shoe on my carry 43x MOS bc I thought everything felt crisp, just didn't like the shoe. On my G45, the trigger was terrible, so I went with the full combat trigger system. I love both of them and the shoe is so comfy. Thanks Johnny
Thats exactly what I'll be doing. I literally received my timney for my g45 the day before yesterday. Watching JG and reading reviews while I waited for the timney I went ahead and printed out the return label, cut the box open, put return paperwork inside and dropped it off at ups today...soon as refund is processed I will be purchasing JG combat kit. Salute to Johnny
@@shon1059 its an incredible defensive trigger. I feel more accurate as well with that crisp wall and I've noticed an improvement with my groups, largely bc of training but a lot of credit goes to the trigger system as well
@@swarbrickjesse Thanks for the input,Much appreciated 👍
Great video!
Competition shooters with 2011’s CZs Tac sports are running 2lb or under in case of Open. Rolling break is preferred over a hard wall to not trigger freeze. Running on a stage it’s noticeable you keep cadence with a rolling break better.
Since I could never get my Timney trigger to work, I'll be taking a closer look at the Glock Performance Trigger. That's gotta work!
This video is has only 7000 views according to youtube on my screen. Had two of my friends that are Glock competition shooters Talk about your upgrade and how it is the best top tier when it comes to improving on the Timney trigger, as well as others. I’m way up here in Alaska we’re two years behind the trend curb. Meaning when something cool or practical comes out it typically takes about two years for it to catch on for Alaska companies to carry it in their stock 7000 views and I’ve heard of you so much I watched your videos and now I know why. I want to know how I can purchase because this video should be blowing up and everyone needs to know about this! I don’t trust anybody unless they have passion for what they do and how you’ve taken the vex trigger and made improvements cut outs for the Timney spring is fucking genius not to mention how goddamn good you’ve done getting rid of the pre-travel and making a defined wall where I know my trigger is going to break. Anyone I talk to from here forward is going to know about this UA-cam channel and your company. Thanks, for loving what you do man
the glock professor perfecting on glock perfection once again !!!!!
They gotta work on the 43X slim frames!!! Awesome vide!! TY
Outstanding demonstration Johnny .
I think it is innovated and pretty awesome. I will be getting one to try out.
I never had any issues with light strikes out of the timney, but I will say the striker did have a little burr on the very bottom edge of the striker that was hanging up on the sear(?) I think it is
I'm curious to see what an extra power trigger return spring and a 6lb striker spring would do for this performance trigger.
Im Sold ... YOU are one of the Best in the Bizz and Not only do your products Work Better , Smoother in a way that helps to be more comfortable and accurate.. but you keep the Safety and Dependability intact . THANK YOU
JG - You saved me $100 once you said not enough wall and not enough predictability for home self-defense Glock G5 G17. Also, might have saved me from a bad situation - who knows. Thanks!
I’m not a Glock guy @ all. Always despised their triggers. But your video has changed that & I’ll pick one up & get your trigger & + connector.
Thank You Johnny!
I looked at this trigger and the timney this weekend, I went with the timney gen 5 for my glock 45 build and I'm very pleased. Somehow the oem trigger that came in it is very good, unlike the one in my glock 23. Not sure if it's because my 45 is a lipsey's edition or not.
Great video, thanks for solid information. Do you guys ship to Norway by any chance?
Nice shirt! I kept looking at the shirt instead of the Glock components
Excellent presentation, thank you
Whoa! Johnny this is amazing! I just put the performance trigger in with your shoe and connector and DAAAMN!! Night and day! Gen 5 trigger was already pretty good, but this trigger setup is amazing. Its like a striker fired equivalant to 2011 or Sig P Classic series guns with the SRT. It is super crisp and the reset...SMH! This is the way it should come from Glock!
Got mine today and you’re absolutely right.
Looked like you were running into an issue with the safety tab hitting against the frame unless you get it just right. I'm experiencing the same and wondering if that can be corrected with adjustment or just taking a bit off the tab to clear
It was somewhat heartbreaking watching Johnny's face every time he was told that a certain key part of the video wasn't allowed to be shown per UA-cam rules or it would be pulled. Something really has to change with that. It's like removing an artist's paint brushes and then saying go make something cool.
Couldn't agree more brother talking about cutting someone off at the knees
Which is crazy, because there’s tons of videos of guns being broken down.
Rumble time

The GPT and the overtravel-adjustable VEX shoe is a game changer. Dial in the overtravel and = Insane performance.
I just bought one when you dialed yours in did you just screw it as tight as possible ?
Very interesting video @JOHNNT GLOCKS the persona. I installed the new Glock Performance trigger kit on my Glock 19 Gen 5. Johnny is absolutely right. There’s no wall to speak of on this 3 pound trigger. There’s no way I would carry this on it’s OEM configuration. I’ll look into your upgrade kit. Thank you very much for the video.
Have you had any experience with the striker control device? I'd love for you to review it and maybe figure out something to where it could work with an aftermarket trigger set up.
Wow you are so good at explaining glock triggers, I finally understand them after watching your videos. I bought a timney alpha a couple of weeks ago and would like to make it safer and similar to this one here.
I just want to reiterate what Fight for Freedom stated below: You should sell the Glock performance trigger with your vex shoe already installed.
And polished like the X combat
Would like to see some color options on the trigger shoe upgrade!
Great stuff Johnny, thanks for all you do!
Since we can't get the vex shoe in EU, does someone know if the Vickers or the Apex one can get me a similar angle?
Got this a few days ago, put 544 rounds through it over the past two days in a glock 45 frame, primarily used a triarc slide, but sent 10 mags with an arc reactor comped slide. Honestly expected this to be like a stock Gen 5 trigger and feel great after 500 rounds, this is NOT the case. The trigger feels as if there is a hesitation when it resets, I had two instances where the trigger did not reset until almost a full second after releasing my finger. I do not trust this trigger whatsoever. My splits were significantly slower due to the length / speed of the reset. I got two of these triggers in, one is in a Gen 5 17 frame and that one (with no rounds) still has a positive reset. I will put some rounds through that next and see if it’s just that one trigger having the issue, but so far I’d ask more people to put some rounds through these and see what happens.
What connectors are you guys using for the Vex shoe plus Perf trigger? Also, is the Timney red return spring (or extra power one) necessary for positive reset?
Will they make the drop in trigger assembly for the 19-gen -4?I am new to Glocks.
Awesome trigger at almost half the cost of a Timney. Does the new trigger shoe effect how the vertical extension engages with the firing pin safety?
so do i get the jg combat trigger with the internals and trigger package? OR do i get just the trigger shoe, plus connector, and combat glock trigger? pros and cons? which should i go with for an edc and why?
I wanted to like my Timney Alpha Trigger. But the light primer strikes with it made me swap it out.
So recently I purchased the Glock performance trigger. I wasnt thrilled about the shoe that came with it and wanted to get rid of all that pretravel and have a shorter reset. I watched this video and started researching the Vex trigger. Long story short, I ordered just the shoe and used the factory connector that came with the GPT. I intalled it today and it breaks at a hair over 4lb every time. Im very happy!!
does johnny have a video on setting the vex trigger correctly using the set screws?
OK I just want to ask what would you say would be the best for cc your combat trigger or your glock performance upgrade
putting the bar back on is really easy ... do like he said with spring , hold it there and flip over to see back side window small poker to get into middle of fork and pull back and behind bar lever .
can you make video about, rubbing the trigger bar on slide rlease on gen 5? if you can fix that or it should be that way?
Well done Guys
When installing the vex shoe on the performance trigger, is any adjustment needed? It just some blue picture and tighten but not over tighten?
What will the striker from you guys help or improve along with the trigger package, for my new Glock 45 gen 5?
"The Wizard of Triggers" ....... Ain't no Doubt !!!
Assuming the new glock performace trigger is gen 5 specific, what's the best option to obtain the same performance in a gen 4 platform?
thank you Johnny!
Hey brother, how extensively have you tested these by now? Any tips and tricks? I freaking LOVE IT! I waited to get it and idk what they fixed but now it is about a 4lb break on my 17 and 4.5 on my 19. Zero mush, clean break. No issue with prepping the trigger and desk popping. Only issue as of yet is once I started my higher round count training 250+ rounds in one sitting, towards the end the reset got a little slower and felt grittier. Im assuming this just means it needs a break in because its not polished and once it starts accumulating grit on the oil. I went light on the oil per the instructions so it wouldnt be a carbon magnet. Im going to try grease on the connector sides and rail (or ledge w/e you want to call it) where the manual says for next try. Would love some pointers man. ❤
I have a stock trigger currently I want to kno if I order the vex trigger alone what will it pull at ? And with the connector that make it pull at 3lb?
I like the stock Gen5 trigger. It'd be interesting if they could make a factory version of the performance trigger with a consistent 4.75±0.25lb pull. It'd meet the NIJ LE pistol standards and give people a bit more peace of mind.
I wonder how this compares to the drop in combat trigger without the vex shoe
I'm fairly new to Glock firearm and just got a 43X (had a G22 Gen 3 years ago). I want this trigger system for the 43X. Do you think Glock will make one for the slim line versions?
Isn’t the Glock plus connector 8lbs? And the one with no marking a 5.5? I wanna make sure to get the right one.
Still the best video out there
Do you still need to but the Glock performance trigger in addition to the shoe upgrade and connnector?
I haven"t looked exhaustively, but when looking for a Glock trigger for a 23 and 27 Gen 4, I only seem to find them for Gen 5.
Will this work in a Shadow Systems XR920? I just purchased one and after taking it to the range yesterday I left very disappointed because the trigger is horrible, 7.1 pounds on my Wheeler digital gauge.
I installed one of these into a 19x. Haven't live fired yet but plan on it. I've noticed that when taking the slide off, I have to hold the trigger down when taking the slide off. With the stock trigger, once the trigger was depressed, I didn't have to keep holding it. Is this normal?
Would I still have the same performance with the + connector in the GPT but without the Vex shoe?
Awesome stuff as always Johnny. Would love to see more new episodes of Functional Fridays. Miss seeing the Glock Maestro holding class and passing that Glock knowledge to his loyal fans.
Just got mine installed. Glock Performance Trigger with the Vex trigger shoe. I'm using a Lyman trigger pull gauge. My stock Glock 47 Gen 5 averaged a fairly consistent 5 lb 14 oz trigger pull that left much to be desired. The Glock Performance Trigger with the Vex shoe felt much better (as shown in the video); however, my trigger pull averaged 3 lb 14 oz and is pretty consistent. I added the polished + connector to the set-up and it brought me to a very consistent 6 lb 2 oz average trigger pull. I'm curious about the trigger pull gauge you are using and the accuracy of these in general. Are you getting a 5.5+ lb trigger pull on the stock Gen 5? I really like the wall with using the + connector, but I only want a 4-4.5 lb max trigger pull. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!
Spend the 370 on the combat trigger. I’ve got two of them, getting ready to buy a third.
With this setup is the firing pin all the way back? unlike the stock which is partially pushed back
Any videos on Glock sights and install instructions?
