The thing about the mage tower which annoyed me wasn't that it was hard. It was that the difficulty didn't seem to be uniform across the specs. I'm a 913 Brewmaster, should be killing Gul'Dan within the next two weeks, and have been tanking since Vanilla. I think out of 50ish attempts on the mage tower, I only saw P2 a handful of times. The flip side to that is, I've never played WW, I have no clue how to WW, but that didn't stop me clearing mage tower as WW in under 10 attempts. I think overall, it took me longer to set up my UI for WW, than it did to clear the challenge. That discrepancy between the two specs bothers me a bit.
Same to me, i did the fury warrior challenge under 4 attempts on my alt fury warrior with 910 ilvl. But with my main paladin tank i struggled with highlord kruul for atleast 25 attempts at 927 ilvl.
I completely agree with the hidden artifact comment. When I saw everyone freaking out about how hard it was, I was like uhhh duh it's supposed to be hard if everyone got it within the first week it wouldn't be cool. I'm only at 880 and there is no way I can do it but I'm doin my best to get better gear so I can do it and have satisfaction once I finally do.
My main issue with wow in legion is that although I enjoy a good grind, there is so much to grind and so much to do (multiplied if you try to play alts - which is a pain in the ass this expansion) in order to stay relevant. There is so much braindead repeatable content that helps you get AP to slowly increase your dps through your artifact traits (for pvp and pve) that no one ever just sits back and has fun outside of what blizzard are forcing down our throats. The 'world of warcraft' isn't somewhere where you can still just relax and make friends outside SW or Orgrimmar, because everyone is required to endlessly fly around killing ten mobs and a "boss" on the broken isles for an arbituary AP reward, as if we are now all just $10 rats in a virtual maze with no free choice to do anything else on the game many of us still play because we now how good it can be.
Dude, I enjoyed so much the artifact challenge (monk mistweaver 899). It took me 89 f***** tries, a lot of gold spent on flasks, potions, food and drums. It wasn't easy, even with more gear it wouldnt be easy, the healer challenge was so unforgiving in phase 1 and the first part of phase 6. A lot of people in my guild complaining about it being a gear check but only tried like 10 times. I enjoy challenges, the feeling of acomplishment I got after finally beating it was greater than my Hc Gul'dan kill (we are a small social guild so no top ranks there). I knew for a fact that out of all the monk healers in the server I was inside that really small percentatge that actually had the skin. And this felt amazing. (the skin looks pretty good with the SoO monk tier)
So to answer the question you closed with... I think people aren't happy because the content is pretty uninspired. We can talk about systems, gear and all that till the cows come home. If there isn't something new to do with that gear, people aren't going to be excited. So looking at the island... There really isn't anything exciting there. No new way to play the game, no really new feeling mechanic. It's essentially 6 world quests and a mob grind. Same goes for the invasions. Some cool scenarios the first time, but there's really nothing different with the world questions. When it comes down to game content (Ie new shit, not systems) it just feels very low effort and uninteresting to be. There's a bunch of story stuff after week 5, but that's ofc not going to be there for people's first impressions.
I'd like to see the level of iteration that we got between Mop patches. Every one of em had something different to do. Sometimes missed the mark, but felt more exciting knowing that it wouldn't be more of the same.
Yo Asmongold, how do you get your personal nameplate in the center of the screen? Mine bounces around like a little dog high on drugs whenever I move the camera. Apparently that's by design... and I haven't found a way to fix it.
You can't scale ALL base ilvl's from every form of gear acquisition except raids if you want raids to remain relevant outside a few rare trinkets or tier for specific specs. If Blizzard keeps this model going forward, then raids need to scale up base ilvl too.
My only issue with WoW is me lol. Starting around Cata, the # of time I have to play went from whenever I wanted, to whenever I can.. Real life, responsibility, work, family etc. I try to get good enough gear to explore previous content I missed due to not having time to invest to stay current. Sucks being responsible lol.
I genuinely want the challenge be be hard, my issue comes when it is infinitely harder currently for some classes than others, was able to do it on my dh, hunter and mage with no issues meanwhile my warlock was virtually impossible in aff without the slowing lego ring, there are other examples of this where certain classes lack the toolkit to actually complete it without a large amount of luck, abusing bugs or having very specific gear pieces.
I've played a rogue for 10 years, all three specs over the course of it, and know them fairly darn well, my gear is average, closing on 890 so nothing spectacular, though I've noticed, in Sub, without the Legendary cloak, it's nigh on impossible to deal with the ice wall that he spawns on you with the blizzard in enough time to either survive, or not get hit straight after. And I tried over and over, various different strats and ideas, to no avail. Any thoughts Asmongold? I'd hate for it to be a "you need this legendary or well, good luck to you"
About mage tower challenge.. It was Amazing. A lot of players say - oh, its too hard! Of course it is! It is supposed to be EXTREMELY hard, so only best players can finish it. And thats fucking amazing. Its like playing Dark souls again. I spent almost 4k nethershards attempting to finish holy priest challenge, and i was with 891 gear. Gues what i did after that? I joined our guild in heroic NH farm run (i stopped raiding some time ago because got bored that little shits can find booster groups for mythic+ and get better gear). I went up to ilvl 901. And finished that god damn challenge. And it felt AMAZING
You can get the same effect with the nether totem or w/e its called toy. Drop it in an outdoor area in a dungeon (has to be at the end because you have to be near it to get the effect), and then just leave the dungeon as you normally would. (leave group or when in LFG, just teleport out). it'll be bugged and you'll have permanent nether thingy until you either log out or rightclick the buff.
just a pointer at the end, i love the challenge these artifact skins give, the thing that makes me salty is that its easyer for some classes than others, and even some of the challenges themselfs are easyer than others. the one MM hunters got is super simple to do.
Hey AsmonGold, i'm kind of a new player and i'm kinda confused about gearing my character. When i hit level 110, should i focus on getting my ILVL as high as possible ( without looking at the stats) and when i'm eligible to do raids i should start looking at the stats or should i also focus on the stats the items give me while (My character i'm trying to gear is a mage , so i should be focusing Crit and haste)?
Sup yo. When you just hit lvl cap, ignore the stats on your gear and just farm stuff with a high itemlvl. Here are some tips you can use and which helped me a lot. -> Do as much worldquests as possible. -> Purchase the 6th tier of your class order hall (the npc who's in charge for extending your order hall) -> Get a high artifact lvl. (Just talk with the npc and purchase the scrolls) -> Do rndm dungeons -> When you're eligable for heroics do heroics as often as you can. -> Look for a nice guild and start doing mythics. -> Sentinax farming. Since Blizzard has lifted up the itemlvl with patch 7.2 it's much easier to get a higher or equal itemlvl as other players. Just follow these tips and you should get decent gear. When you reached, let's say 855+ or even 860+ do yourself a favor and get the addon "Pawn". It scans your items and tells you whether a specific gearpiece is an improvement or not. I'm using it all the time so I can focus more on my stats rather on my itemlvl buuuuuuuut it's sometimes a pain in the ass to stick with items with lower itemlvl but better stats. I hope I could help you ;)
Mots Boi Stats won't really matter as much until you push towards the current end-game. If you've got a very low ilevel, boost it; when you've hit about 875-880, start looking at stats. Don't shirk large upgrades, but be a little more careful. As for your prio, it depends on your spec. Fire is heavily crit based, for example.
oh and..if you've 5000 Nethershards buy the "relinquished gear" DON'T BUY THE "Dauntless" even when they cost less. Dauntless Items are about 855+ but Relinquished items have 880+ itemlvl with pretty decent stats. ;)
Hey, I am a mage. I highly encourage you to go frost spec if you aren't already, it's the best one currently. Also, if you want to learn more about your spec/class go to icyveins.com that site will help you out a lot! Take care man, good luck.
u should focus on ilvl, but if u get an item which is the same ilvl as your item, you have to look which has better stats, lets say ur best stat is crit, and the new item has more crit than yours, you replace your item and wear the new one.
I don't always agree with you 100%, but this hit every point right on the head for me. I also really liked that the difficulty of the artifact challenge made a lot of professions profitable again, if only for a short time -- LW drums, enchants, flasks and pots...with crafted gear being virtually useless except for brand new 110s to fill in loose slots, it's important to have these kind of difficult challenges that aren't just progression raids so that people are buying those trade goods. Another thing is alts -- as someone with a lot of alts it's nice to be able to gear them up easier with higher level mythic/WQ gear, but having to swap in and out every single day to run emissaries, gain 25 new AK levels, upgrade followers another 50 ilvls, build OH resources and run OH missions is really tiring, and now we have 6hr legion assaults at random times and broken shore construction.... I want to keep my alts semi-competitive but it's getting really painful managing all the tedious daily stuff for EACH toon on EACH spec. I know it's not a requirement to keep 6 alts raid-ready but as someone who's not always satisfied playing my main class it just feels really painful if I let them get behind for more than a few days.
Only thing i hated about the challenge appearance quests were that some of them we're bugged due to never being tested at all. The Havoc DH Xylem fight was causing us to be hit by comet storm multiple times outside its radius on the way back to Xylem and wasn't fixed for 2.5 days. So i just never bothered much, only got a few attempts in just before it went away but all for getting it as soon as the tower is back.
You know what would be nice ? Solo challenge mode for old content like old raids. Since they have implemented Ilvl scaling, I think it's easy for them just to apply that to old raids in a "Challenge mode difficuty", which would gives nice rewards for solo content. I think WOW atm is a little bit short about nice challenging solo content you can improve yourself with and that does'nt rely on others players (raids, BG...) Moreover and the most important thing for me about this would be that player could TRAVEL through the world, and not being parked into the Broken isles... i've been doing a lot of old content recently, and Loremaster, it's amazing to see how good it feels juste to... see other landscapes.
my biggest problem with 7.2 was it didnt feel finished there was a lot of bugs, and things like the nethershard, and catherdral changes really point to that.. not to mention if you were a holy priest like myself finding that the golden trait oomed you in 2mins of a fight, and made you unplayble was not fun at all.. getting benched from a raid, because of a bug on a trait i spent 12 hours a day farming for in time for raid is really not cool
I think a lot of people were hoping Blizzard learned a lesson from all the hate around time gating, RNG, and mindless grinds. Unfortunately 7.2 only doubled down on those things.
Also, you are right that there was no testing on the nethershard stuff on the PTR but its not Blizzard's fault entirely. The PLAYERS did no testing. And why was that? Because the ptr came out while people were just stepping into Nighthold. This is one of the drawbacks of quicker patch cycles, and will continue to happen. You just can't get adequate testing with a patch this size when its on the test servers for 3 months and comes out during a major raid release. I would not be surprised in the SLIGHTEST if they flipflop (as they always do) on this topic too in 8.0. I can see Ion on stage now saying "We are still committed to getting content out faster, but we found that pushing patch after patch with no downtime led to a situation where we weren't getting the community feedback we needed to make these patches the best version they can be."
I started playing WoW pretty much in Legion but I have heard a lot of stories from people that played in say, Vanilla or TBC and they'd see someone with a piece of gear and freak out. I had my first similiar experience today when I was chilling in Dalaran and saw a Guardian Druid with that Tank skin. I screenshotted it, sent it to my friends and tried to have him give me advice on the challenge. He didn't respond, sadly as he was away but I really enjoyed the experience and I hope similiar things happen in the future, either from the Mage Tower challenges or something Blizzard adds in later on.
Totally agree that the challenge appearance is a great thing. I had difficulty doing Epicus Maximus in the Brawler's Guild (BEING A BALANCE DRUID SUCKS). It made me extra keen to get better gear and once I came back after getting NH 4 set and good trinkets it was fairly simple and Ray D. Tear went down swiftly also. Gives a nice little ego boost to be able to use my Basilisk mount as I know I earned it through quite some effort, rather than just stomping over all the bosses in Brawlers, challenge appearance is the same, if you can't quite do it, come back after putting some effort into getting better gear/ skill and the reward will feel that much sweeter.
I think a big thing about the timegating and 'world of waitcraft' is so that people don't feel like they HAVE to do things. Personally I recently got a job and not being able to play for as much I feel rather relieved that the increasing AK level. This way I won't fall behind as much as I would if I was in this situation at the beginning of the expansion (or grinding out the 54 traits). Waiting kind of sucks - but it 'allows' you to do other things with your time that doesn't negatively impact you ingame.
My problem with the challenge is that it's the only place I can get a Flail on my prot pally. Big fan of flails since the old D2 days and again with D3. Been waiting to have one in wow and they gate it for gear that I will never be able to get (not a hardcore raider). I would like to think I can play my class enough to beat the challenge but not with the gear check. Should have been implemented like PVP where ilvl is equalled out. Hopefully future flail models will come out elsewhere.
Only thing why i don't like the challenge is because i only play tanks, and both Healer and Tank challenges are DPS check , its not about you knowing how to play your class/role, its only about if you know how to DPS with your spec.
I have to say the Frost dk, Arms warriors ,Havoc demon hunters , and Survival hunters challenge is unreasonably hard. the "Closing the eye" challenge was just unforgiving if you make the slightest mistake. I was fairly good geared and reasonably skilled too ,(ilvl900-902) but spending over 3k shards on it and getting only to 50% at best was just infuriating. most of the stuff was just a 1 shot mechanic ( or really high dmg a tick) that was easy to mess up or undershot.
I agree that invasions should give Legionfall rep. I was surprised and disappointed when I completed one and got no rep. I won't have flying for a long while since I don't do enough in Broken Shore because I simply don't find that content compelling. It's a grindfest - at least with Tanaan, you had dailies to earn a large number of guaranteed Apexis to put towards gear. Now you either grind whatever method hasn't been nerfed yet, or you don't get many at all. Broken Shore itself has been a disappointment and, weirdly enough, makes me wish they took more design from Tanaan with regard to the zone's rep and currency gains.
I didn't get a chest this week and have been having an ongoing battle with Blizzard support for the past week over the AP they can't refund. Apparently the devs will not allow GMs to refund missed AP for any reason, even when they can confirm that none was received where it should have been, like the Challenger's chest. Their answer to me is that they can't refund it so too bad so sad. Doesn't even make sense for them to have a mechanic in the game they can't support.
My personal complaint with the artifact challenge isn't the difficulty or the scaling, but the things it is testing. This response is a very personal one, and won't apply to anyone else I bet, but I want to throw this out there hoping some other people will agree. I am a destruction warlock, and our challenge is to kill things while solo interrupting a target. If one cast gets off it basically starts a chain reaction that leads to me dying. Do you know how many times a destruction has been expected to interrupt things? Maybe every once in a while we use our aoe stun that we spec into in mythic+. We use the imp as our pet, imp as our summon cooldown, and have not been expected to interrupt all expansion. So my question is, why have we been selected for the interrupt challenge when we are never expected to interrupt? You can argue that we should be tested on things we aren't necessarily good at, but being good at interrupting does not mean that you are a good destruction warlock. I expected these challenges to be able to be completed by well geared, good players of the class playing well, but this challenge does not test if you are good at destruction warlock, it tests if you are good at this aspect of the game that destruction never has to do. I know I just need to get over it, but that's really frustrating to me, that these skills I've been developing all expansion aren't actually what ends up being tested by this challenge.
Chris Gay It makes you play better. you should be interrupting in mythic+ anyways as any dps class/spec, I've learned so much about sub rogue in my several wipes on our challenge because it challenges me into playing a new way
What is that pokimon addon he was using that shows what the enemy's abilitys are above yours? And the one that makes a button to use your AP tokens all in 1 place?
Overall, I really love the patch. I'm not good enough to get the appearances from the mage tower challenge yet, but that's incentive to gear up a little more through 7.2 and 7.3 and work at getting to know my utility a little better.
The difficulty of the artifact skins wasn't really what bothered me, what did was the way the healing one was designed. It's very rng based and longer than any of the others. A simple checkpoint system or something would've made it much more fun than just frustrating when the archers decides to fire three shots in a row at the target that soaked Mana String.
I don't disagree that the healing challenge might be more RNG based, however the tanking challenges are unobtainable by the same low ilvl who have gotten the Heal challenge done. I have seen a youtube video of 2 ppl who finished heal challenge with less than 899 gear. The same cannot be said for tanking.
I think Mage Tower is a great challenge to have and i did it in the first couple of hours with 901 enhancement shaman. ''Roots of Shaladrassil'' legendary was a great help. But it may not be the case for every other class or every other legendary, it should be a little more balanced across the classes without loosing any of it's difficulty.
lol i have never put any resources in mage tower, idk y ppl do that the building that gives u extra rolling seals is WAY better. also it is gear check and skill check, my mage is 905 ilvl i couldnt do it, but i only did it like 5 times, didnt wanna spend any of my shards.
Each level of raid difficulty should be able to war forge to a MAX of the baseline of the next difficulty up to have the lotto feeling and gear progression feeling
Well only reason I dont like the challenge appearance is that I'm a hardcore PvP player and my gear is full of versatility so obviously i m doing so much less dmg than other players with nh hc/mythic gear who have the same ilvl as I have but they have way better stats, set bonuses and trinkets. The Challenge isnt impossible to me cause I did do it but it was alot harder for me because of the lack of dmg. Also the new traits in this patch just fucked up PvP since now all I can do is grind the traits on 1 char to not fall behind on the traits. I have absolutely no chance to play my alts for a long time since I m all the time going to feel like I'm behind other players because I dont have as many traits if I dont sit on my main all day. edit. Also getting into PvP with a completely new character requires so much grinding before you can actually play arenas well because you need item level, honor talents and traits + with the new traits your going to be anyway behind even when you have reached a 900+ ilvl and all the honor levels.
I think a significant chunk of the challenge arti thing wants it for more appearances - not for prestige but for more options. There is such a huge amount of players that enjoy this aspect of an mmo, that it's almost unfathomable how so many dev studios never seem to notice just how many of their fanbase does.
Hi. 10/10 mythic fury warrior, 908 ilvl here. Did the class challenge in about 10 tries. Gotta say, im loving the patch so far. Using the artifact traits as a soft nerf for raid content is definitely the way to go from now on, as content becomes easier for those who are already farming content or who are good at their class - also people who aren't as great playing their character get less from it. I see people QQing about how they don't have time to play the game 10-15 hours a day, 6 days a week. If you have to play the game 10-15 hours a day 6 days a week to do class challenge or clear mythic raiding, then you're either bad at the game or don't focus on achieving an objective you set for yourself. I also like the boosting of mythic+ gear level rewards. This way, artifact power becomes a product of gear farming rather than visa-versa. It also makes it easier to fill in gaps of BiS stat gear that nighthold might now have. I.e 1st and 3rd bis ring and neck for fury warriors. While I didn't notice the world content scaling at all, I guess I can understand how/why people don't like it along with the time gating. I also agree that the invasions could do with giving more rep including Armies of Legionfall rep. Seems a bit silly that it doesn't give anything in that regard.
I agree that the Mage Tower challenges are nice in general and I also welcome their difficulty. However I think the problem is that they only give you an Artifact Weapon skin. I don't think this is enough of an incentive to motivate most people to farm shards and keep trying. Especially if you like to Transmog your weapon. An additional reward could be a mount and gear or chest or whatever.
The mage tower challenge actually made me want to level a few alts now. I don't mythic raid but i was only playing twice a week till this patch. I like it.
I just don't like the idea of us having to bust our balls to get flying. They broke tradition in WoD which pissed off a lot of people. I was always looking forward to reaching the max level to buy my flying. It made me more inclined to level alts and get that reward. But now I have to bust my ass and go from here to there and kill this and kill that and do this quest chain and do that quest chain. It completely sucked up the fun for me to get flying. I understand that they wanted us to "explore" the area first on the ground. But once we explored it after getting the achievement there's really no freaking point in having that feeling of exploring....I think it's retarded, and it's bad enough they have a "part two" to unlock Legion flying.
I am going to work on getting my Fury one. This might be enough to bring me back. I am STILL farming for my first legendary on him and have been since expansion day 4!
To invalidate content in the game, a patch first has to bring content. And don't tell me that a few world quests every now and then and hanging around in the other zones to do the buggy, shitty invasions is content. The time-gating is one thing but the quality of that content is so poor that it just isn't worth it.
13:23 I agree with some things you say here, but the fact it requires time, nethershards, flasks, potions and food (thus all costing gold), makes me think otherwise. I think Blizzard should give us at least the option to do the challenge without wasting our Gold for a freaking appearance.
I like the artifact challenge and agree that skill and gear should be a major factor but.... It should not be dependent on legionaries which for some classes is much more dependent than others.
I feel like Mephistroth's health is supposed to reflect a fight with Dantalionax in Black Rook Hold without the giant buff we receive there. I agree it's definitely overtuned, but would actually like to see his health up there compared to others even after a nerf.
The only major issue i have is the fact that you can get better gear from your emissary box then you can get in mythics/raids...unless you raid alot. Doesnt make sense
Emissary box? No. That was 840 and is now 860. I've yet to get a piece from emissary caches that is higher than 870. Normal NH is 875, and 5k nethershards for 1 880 piece isn't something that invalidates doing Normal NH. Anyways, lowest gear from TOS is 890 @ LFR ilvl, so once that comes around there'll be even more of a clear separation there.
I got an 870 from it today on my new 110 Priest, i also did the Timewalkers and got multiple pieces that were 860ish You can lol mode though them for loot thats on par with some raids... that shouldnt be a thing
I mean I am a player that loved challenge modes and proving grounds in Mists, portrait picture, but this is just not the same. It isn't balanced correctly for every different class. If they had 1-2 more variations to move people around in it probably could be balanced a bit better but it isn't. Just look at the item level required for some class specs over others. BM and WW can do it at 875 and others can only do it at 905+. That is horrible balancing. I personally didn't go into them with any of this info though. I went in on my DH and tried about 5 times and at least 2 of those times I died to frost aoe when I was super far out of it. That is an obvious bug that many other demon hunters are experiencing, or experienced if fixed since then, as well. TLDR horrible balancing and bugs made it horrible.
I wish the new invasion was like the prepatch event. sit and farm it over and over for hours if you want. Not do 5 world quests and then you're done....
i'm angry about the afflic challenge look...you could get destro and demo at around 880-900 ilv if you're good afflic literally requires you to have a certain legend so you can ether slow the boss or get a mini lust from spetz
I agree with most of the stuff here. Challenge modes are fucking awesome, I was really waiting for blizz to finally add something again that IS actually challenging and not for everyone, it's called challenge for a reason and also really fun form of gameplay improvement for many. AP grind became Not-a-Grind-Anymore as the flow of AP is way more natural, since You get AP for literary every content that you can do right now and the amount of AP covered between M+, raids, Caches, Rares, chests and all kind of bonuses is so balanced, that it doesnt really matter which content do you find more fun, so it's really not forcing you farming/grinding dungeons all over. The last but not least, EN is most probably not gonna be forgotten by many guild even in tomb, obviously the majority of players in WoW will not see any reason to spend time in old content as EN is, but let's face it. The amount of AP that you get by running fast EN hc, EN nm, ToV hc and ToV nm which takes like 1hour is just insane to miss, nevertheless legendaries and titanforging is still a thing so people who are in guilds that actually still farm EN/ToV now (like mine f.e.) will most likely continue with these runs same as now (aka not mandatory and outside of raiddays/raidtimes)
The only problem I have with this patch is the last nshards nerf....I was so happy I could get my Fury head legendary...and now i can farm at best like 3k / hour
Lamborghini parked outside Taco Bell...can't say I've ever seen that but your point is well made...and it actually made me LOL. Great, well thought out video!
Lack of gear only makes the Marks challenge take longer, it's very basic kiting. Any hunter who did the Rhok'delar quests or had to kite aboms in Hyjal could do it easily. I did it at 870. I know it's more of a dps check for other classes but for Marks it's literally run around in circles and press concussive shot. More gear will make it faster but you still need to know how to kite. Now if only the Marks challenge skin didn't look like trash.
I think all in all, the patch has made gearing up alts, and getting things done in general, much faster, everything in the game has sped up quite a bit, and will continue to do so as the expansion progresses, and people getting upset over challenge appearances, and nethershards? I mean who cares really. I feel like they intend nethershards to be a bonus, not something you consistently work towards. Getting them from rares, invasions, and random chests, is much more enjoyable than just grinding out some mobs mindlessly(at least for me).
Hapurubokka i really really love aoe tanking the mobs under the sentinax on my blood dk, it's so much fucking fun for me. It's like unending bukake, fucking wonderful lmao
Yeah, yeah. You can say that all you fucking want. But I don't want regular open-world mobs to be hard. Have you done any heroic raiding lately? Mythic+? The difficulty in the game is just centered now more around instanced endgame. And there are still things like elites in the open world that fucking wreck you. Been to the WQs at the Isle of the Watchers lately?
I don't have the gear for those challenges at all, I don't really care about so I'm just doing it anyway. The prob I have is that you gotta wait for the fkin mage tower to be built again a week from when it's destroyed. and that is what kind of bums me out about this.
From what I've heard the tank one might be a little ridiculous compared to the other challenges but honestly I loved doing the challenge as an 897 spriest was exciting as fuck.
EN,TOV,NH raids will still be very valuable because of the AP.Since M+ doesnt give that much AP anymore doing theese raids s actually pretty good way of getting AP and legendaries. If you open your group finder u will see a lot of groups doing exactly this.
I freaking love the challange got to 10% on voidboy with my 898 dh, and ive gotten alot of good upgrades on my gear now so im 902 and i am sure i can beat him now :D
I agree that the challenge artifacts are fine except most of the tank ones we're not balanced at all. And the havoc dh one and afflic lock are very legendary dependent which is shit.
Speaking for myself, anger outweighs fun 90 to 10. Broken Shore and flying are good, but thats about it. The artificial time gating to get flying and the class mounts is beyond aggrevating but the biggest crux for me and I think for most other people is the blatant lie about mage tower being a skill challenge and instead being a flat out gearcheck being the the issue. I cna only speak of a DK standpoint but what in the holy hell were they smoking when they gave the MOST mobile class and the LEAST mobile one in the game the same exact boss??? I gave them the detailed reasoning and explainations that the UH and Frost bosses need to be switched. What does Xylem need? mobility CDs and dps at the end, UH can double grip has stronger AMS and longer WW just the things it needs to counter him. What does Agatha need? Fuckton of stationary dps and slows, exactly what Frost is there to do! Ret paladins have to kill Agatha which are basically have the same mobility as Frost DKs a little more so why the hell do we get this blinky asshole to fight?
My biggest problem with the mage tower challanges is not that it needs X level of gear. Its that certain specs have a legendary that totally trivializes the encounter. This could be avoided by simply disabling them during the encounter.
id be fine with the challenges scaling. otherwise 2 things will happen peeps who don't raid are left out of a wep skin. and on the flip side peeps who run mythic and heroics will be able to brease through it once they have 920+ ToS gear. w/out scaling its to difficult for normor lower based gear or to easy for heroics/mythics, my personal opinion.
In regards to your comments about needing gear to do the mage tower challenges. I've done it successfully on two different 890 toons. TBH it should have been something that scaled your gear like Proving Grounds though. Then the real skill shows. IMO if you got it on a toon with greater than 895 gear I'm not impressed.
I wish I didn't have to grind legionfall rep for flying. I already had to grind five other reps. That's something that kind of made me put my main on pause.
It was released too soon with poor communication as to what and when things were going to be implemented. They need to fix the rep grind. The invasion is the same thing being repeated, just like it was with the original zone. Fun the first few times then something that's not worth bothering with. If they gave you legionfall reputation for those quests it would be a lot better. Grinding nethershard is another boring timesink. If they expect people to target legendaries with the 5k item purchases, they better increase the amount of shards that drop.
I agree with everything you said. You picked your answers very carefully. I do think the same about increasing the difficulty and not increase the reward. Also the idea about multiple farming methods is very revitalizing because you are not forced to do one thing only.
agree with what you said on the artifact challenge i almost did it with 892 with my hunter so its possible just need better gear. Gear up people this is not final fantasy 14
Completely agree with what you said about erasing content with over iLVL scaling of the last patch's instance drops. That's something that bothers me since Ulduar became pointless/ non-competitive anymore.. Doing such scaling is a spit on their content designers' work .
That discrepancy between the two specs bothers me a bit.
when you said it took longer to set up my UI XD i fucking lost it! left a like thanks for the laugh :D
Probably because is tuned to better gear. DPs scale better than tanks i guess. Also the WW challenge was the easier lol
Same to me, i did the fury warrior challenge under 4 attempts on my alt fury warrior with 910 ilvl. But with my main paladin tank i struggled with highlord kruul for atleast 25 attempts at 927 ilvl.
How to complete your challenge appearance :
Step 1 : Git
Step 2 : Gud
Downox
Shitters... shitters everywhere
I completely agree with the hidden artifact comment. When I saw everyone freaking out about how hard it was, I was like uhhh duh it's supposed to be hard if everyone got it within the first week it wouldn't be cool. I'm only at 880 and there is no way I can do it but I'm doin my best to get better gear so I can do it and have satisfaction once I finally do.
exactly, I wouldnt even want to do the challenge if everyone had done it.
Asmon how are you using the Arms artifact appearance as mog in fury spec??
What is the name of the character and item quip addon you use?
Ppl want blizzard to change how the gear system works Prob the biggest point
I'd hate for it to be a "you need this legendary or well, good luck to you"
that's how they get you to pay 15 bucks a month to keep playing, so yeah
-> Purchase the 6th tier of your class order hall (the npc who's in charge for extending your order hall)
-> Get a high artifact lvl. (Just talk with the npc and purchase the scrolls)
-> Do rndm dungeons
-> When you're eligable for heroics do heroics as often as you can.
-> Look for a nice guild and start doing mythics.
-> Sentinax farming.
Does anyone know the addon he is using for changing trinkets ? (the box that appear when you click that contains all the others trinkets)
Just hold alt key
what is the addon called at 20:30?
I think WOW atm is a little bit short about nice challenging solo content you can improve yourself with and that does'nt rely on others players (raids, BG...)
Moreover and the most important thing for me about this would be that player could TRAVEL through the world, and not being parked into the Broken isles... i've been doing a lot of old content recently, and Loremaster, it's amazing to see how good it feels juste to... see other landscapes.
what's that addon you press to use AP? 1 after another
my biggest problem with 7.2 was it didnt feel finished there was a lot of bugs, and things like the nethershard, and catherdral changes really point to that.. not to mention if you were a holy priest like myself finding that the golden trait oomed you in 2mins of a fight, and made you unplayble was not fun at all.. getting benched from a raid, because of a bug on a trait i spent 12 hours a day farming for in time for raid is really not cool
I think a lot of people were hoping Blizzard learned a lesson from all the hate around time gating, RNG, and mindless grinds. Unfortunately 7.2 only doubled down on those things.
Whats that addon at 20:20
Also, you are right that there was no testing on the nethershard stuff on the PTR but its not Blizzard's fault entirely. I can see Ion on stage now saying "We are still committed to getting content out faster, but we found that pushing patch after patch with no downtime led to a situation where we weren't getting the community feedback we needed to make these patches the best version they can be."
nobody tested nethersharding because nobody -wants- to do that shit, just like apexis crystals lol
How do you transmog your fury weapons to an appearance from your arms weapon ?
What pets were you using during the pet battle?
Who does invasions at 3AM? *alarm* OH BOY 3AM
Nothing better than sargeras' nethershard space casino.
I miss being able to farm rep.
DesertRat go to nost
Go to Elysium. It's great.
That Guy elysium is bad
Elysium is gud
Just Some Nerd also wanna know about the spammable AP button
Great vid, the nostalgic feels when u talked about people in raid gear standing on the bridge in ironforge.
If you think the healing ones are easy you haven't seen the Hunter ones i did Bm and Mm at 892ilvl in 12 tries across both
I think Mage Tower is a great challenge to have and i did it in the first couple of hours with 901 enhancement shaman.
Hello kind sir, could you please link the macro for the AP you have?
Can't wait to get my Ahead of the Curve: Guldan, so I can get into Emerald Nightmare Normal 😀
If you have to play the game 10-15 hours a day 6 days a week to do class
challenge or clear mythic raiding, then you're either bad at the game or don't focus on achieving an objective you set for yourself.
An additional reward could be a mount and gear or chest or whatever.
how can you see so far in the new AB?
I agree so much, it feels great to go back and do the ''older raid'' and I hope ToS doesn't remove that feel.
The mage tower challenge actually made me want to level a few alts now. I don't mythic raid but i was only playing twice a week till this patch. I like it.
When video start?
Yo what's the addon to use all your AP tokens by clicking that icon?
EH and TOC still give you AP so there is some use to running these even if the gear isn't.
the nethershard gear isnt capped im starting to think. i just got a 920 trinket for my first piece of gear i purchased last night.
I agree it's definitely overtuned, but would actually like to see his health up there compared to others even after a nerf.
i can never tell if he records at day or night, does he ever see the light?
The only major issue i have is the fact that you can get better gear from your emissary box then you can get in mythics/raids...unless you raid alot. Doesnt make sense
Malforian82 nah you just need to kil 11 bosses on any difficulty once and them its done, u unlocked that difficulty cache
Get better gear by farming Nethershards
Full 880+ gear in a day
Dubious forreal
Emissary box? No. That was 840 and is now 860. I've yet to get a piece from emissary caches that is higher than 870. Normal NH is 875, and 5k nethershards for 1 880 piece isn't something that invalidates doing Normal NH. Anyways, lowest gear from TOS is 890 @ LFR ilvl, so once that comes around there'll be even more of a clear separation there.
I got an 870 from it today on my new 110 Priest, i also did the Timewalkers and got multiple pieces that were 860ish
You can lol mode though them for loot thats on par with some raids... that shouldnt be a thing
Not do 5 world quests and then you're done....
i'm angry about the afflic challenge look...you could get destro and demo at around 880-900 ilv if you're good
afflic literally requires you to have a certain legend so you can ether slow the boss or get a mini lust from spetz
Legion invasions aren't random they are every 18 hours btw.
1kameron3 yeah, one early in the morning, and one during raiding hours..
I manage to do hunter bm challenge with 885, so it is more like a skill check than a gear check...
Been to the WQs at the Isle of the Watchers lately?
casual noob.
It would be nice if the tank challenge actually challenged me as a tank instead of a DPS...
I can't get the quest "seeking lost knowledge" from kadgar... help
I'm happy to se NH and EN a thing of the past. I can only do a raid for about 3 months before I'm bored still of it.
opened a dreamweaver, valajar, highmountain, the wardens and x2 nightfallen boxes... got 1 mount, wild dreamrunner(im a druid, perfect)
Stopped playing in Novemeber and the only thing I see they added is... more grinding!
Mmos are literally just grinding
"the albino drake, got some noobs in there too" i rofled
I agree with everything you said. You picked your answers very carefully. I do think the same about increasing the difficulty and not increase the reward. Also the idea about multiple farming methods is very revitalizing because you are not forced to do one thing only.
agree with what you said on the artifact challenge i almost did it with 892 with my hunter so its possible just need better gear. Gear up people this is not final fantasy 14
Completely agree with what you said about erasing content with over iLVL scaling of the last patch's instance drops. That's something that bothers me since Ulduar became pointless/ non-competitive anymore.. Doing such scaling is a spit on their content designers' work .
the challenge aperearances is just the green Fire quest line except now everyone bicths about it not just unskilled locks
