What they need to do to fix the server imbalances is quite simple. Make new servers, with combined names of servers that already exist, give everyone in the game a free server transfer or just bring everyone's characters over automatically, then delete the old servers. Because clearly it's too hard for them to just combine already existing servers for some reason or they'd do it to every server that was imbalanced. We'd also have less servers to choose from which is a good thing, why keep adding new servers that always will stay low pop when 95% of the servers in this game have huge ally/horde imbalances.
With tier sets you missed the other major problem. They balance around the set bonus and so a lot of classes feel like shit without it. There is no need for a tier set at all, you say people would just be going for the same 2 stats but how is that even remotely different from everyone going for the same tier set? Also, people still just go for the best 2 stats, they min max which tier set pieces are going to give them the most of their best 2 stats. More smaller sets could be good though, maybe 2 item set bonuses, but again people are still just going to min max them.
I honestly think this move is possibly the most brilliant thing Ion has ever done with WoW. It combines all the good of legion's systems and removes the biggest problem with them at the same time. It cuts down on dead slots by making 3-4 slots stuck over 9-10 out of 13. It combines set bonuses and leggos into the new armor system making balancing the classes much easier due to reducing variables. While at the same time making everyone have one artifact per character that works on all specs. This frees up the art team to do whatever extra shit they have been wanting to do but couldn't due to time constraints on tier set art assets. This condensing of all these assets while at the same time making the game better is nothing short of pure genius (if it goes through as intended).
what u said is very true , adding to that that blizzard obviously want another progression system with gear like the artifact power and heart of azeroth and legendaries so they will be making a lot of effects for these to make them interesting which will make coming up with something decent for a tier bonus really hard and we can see that by a lot of tiers having shitty bonuses in legion so removing is actually the best choice atm
Imo they should make class trinkets. Those could be pretty easily balanced and there would be tons of interesting/fun things to do with them. Also seeing items with "special stats" like many items had in Vanilla. Bring back 'Chance on Hit'-weapons. It's these small but interesting stats and effects that make gear interesting, at least for me. I'm so done with stat stick trinkets.
Agreed, this is almost certainly due to the mechanical issues of having half of the mechanical updates to a class in a patch be tied to item combos that not everybody will have. It's been a weird system for a very long time and I'd love to see it go.
TBC and Wrath was so much easier and less annoying to gear up. Why don’t they go back to what worked instead of inventing new ways of making people grind.
Because they tried to allow people easy and quick gearing...in WoD. I think we all know how it ended. Simple truth is that you need a reason to do things in MMORPG on daily basis. If daily quests offer nothing, then you won´t do them (well, you will, few times and then, once you get bored by them, you never return). Same goes for dungeons. There simply needs to be something you can get from content to make you play that content. AP/azerite is this "something".
If that was true, WoD would never exist. There is direct link between WoD´s lack of daily content (or more specifically, incentive to do said content) and Legion´s abundance of content and reasons to do that content.
WOD exists as it does because they were understaffed at the start. They rushed it AND they decided to focus on Legion as they knew WOD was never going to be very popular. Grinds exist as time sinks. They are designed to make you waste time. More time=more money for blizz. That is why a lot of FTP games do not have them.
Look at the time gating for flying. One of the many reasons I quit the game as I saw what the design philosophy was going to be. Time gate, time gate, time gate forever. That is what Legion is and that why I quit playing it. Far too much time gating. Every single patch added more time gates and grinds.
not saying you are wrong, but many people play in pvp servers because a lot of pve servers are basically dead, not because they love pvp with heart and soul
I still don't understand why they can't just bring back and expand on the glyph system. You could still have progression at max level with it, be able to switch up your playstyle and make inscription useful again. Why do they keep trying to reinvent the wheel here? I don't want traits tied to pieces of gear. That's so stupid
they are dumbing it all down so you can play just a few hours on and off. It would not surprise me to see them try to enter the console market in a couple of years.
Hey Asmongold, I am not giving my opinion on whether or not i like that they are removing tier sets but you forgot to mention that one of the reasons they are getting rid of tier is because some classes were not able to do any damage without their specific tier set and some sets were just brokenly good for classes so you would have people wearing previous raid tier in current raids.
I'm actually experiencing the pvp issue right now. I started leveling up an old alliance toon on an old realm to play with someone, and it's taking me extremely long to level through Legion because now the horde:alliance ratio on that realm is like 10:1. I'm all for pvp but it's not fun when it's 3v1 all day every day.
TBH I feel they got rid of their sets because they were tired of having to tune the their sets as well as base classes / specs rather then the problem of having a slot taken due to a practically required piece of gear. That being said I would love the idea of going back to 8 pieces of tier, I totally agree that some gear is required for a specific slot.
I still don't understand what the fuck happened that made the horde and the alliance go to all-out war.. like, did they defeat the legion and save the world several times JUST to randomly go back fighting each other again? That seems.. both pointless and weird. I don't think BfA will be a huge success personally. This will most likely be the first time the launch of a new expansion won't spike as much as it used to during new releases. Thank fucking god Blizzard realized that and will finally release classic WoW though. I for one will gladly make vanilla WoW into my main game again for a few years. Let's hope they don't fuck it up though, they HAVE to make it like it was or there's literally no reason to play it.
once the vanilla zone scaling hits, I will for sure be leveling without heirlooms, it makes leveling so much more enjoyable and bearable imo, even if it is way slower
5:25 if they remove sets you will have no locked slots, unless they lock it with something else. i quite like the mix and match of random individual items like in vanilla, and for some reason im thinking about the spellstrike pants and those shadow shoulders from TBC. even though they were 2 piece sets.
I think a better change for the tier sets would have been to give each individual piece of gear a smaller unique bonus instead of the 2/4 set bonuses we have now, and also make it so you could only have say 4 tier set pieces equipped at any given time. That way you could do tons of more unique gear builds while keeping it decently balanced (in theory atleast).
ion specifically said they did not want to have pvp talents enabled whenever you toggle world pvp on because your character shouldn't feel any drastic gameplay changes in the open world, it's too "jarring" for players to handle.
*Zone scaling won't fix leveling* I even think it will make leveling worse. You won't have a feeling of progession because 1. the mobs are always the same level / same strength 2. therefore your gear upgrades don't matter ( which they already don't cuz of heirlooms) 3.remember areas you couldn't go because the mobs were to high level ? yeah ? well that won't be anymore. no feeling of progession at all. going back to mobs you couldn't kill but now you can because you got better gear/ higher level? nope not anymore. They even did the scaling in legion and didn't recognize how bad it is. here's what they have to do to fix leveling: -remove heirlooms. they make leveling way too easy and you never get any gear upgrades which feels just horrible ( it's and rpg common) - reduce the experience gain from dungeon and questing , but more from dungeons so people stop grinding dungeonfinder to level up - increase the difficulty of leveling. you shouldn't be able to pull 10+ mobs and one shot everything while questing. it will also make your max level character something prestigious you've earned and can be proud of
yes you're right, players will still need a certain level to go into higher zone but the problem is "why would they"?. theres no need to do that because you can stay from 1 to 60 in westfall and other low level zones. that's why they should decrease the experience you gain, so players have to go through most of the zones. guild wars 2 for example does have a scaling system. even though I stoped playing because the endgame was boring, I still remember leveling up in guild wars was the best leveling experience i've ever had.the difference was 1. i was really challenging 2. gear mattered 3. you still had scaling in the zone itself. for example : a zone was from 1-15 then mobs in the starting areas were level 1 but you couldn't go much further because level 6 mobs would kill you easily.
that is probably the worst argument I've ever heard regarding heirlooms. It's like saying " you don't have to wear your best gear" when every other person does just to make it harder.. leveling should have one fixed difficulty.one that is challenging and balanced. especially in an rpg there's a small line between "fun and challenging" and "boring and unchallenging". there was a time, leveling was actual content of the game and not the tormenting grind it is today.
the problem with active PvP flagging vs the old school classic PvP servers was that on PvP servers there was no choice there was no getting ready, you saw someone and "its on" regardless of who it was a dissadvantage to. The issue with PvP as a toggle is that, people will only do it when they have a distinct advantage whether its by class ability or gearing. ie: PvP will be toggled by the first crop of people to hit 120, Rogues maybe ferals, Tanks (if there Legion broken) and anyone else running around who specifically knows unless theres some huge surprise they will win every 1v1 scenario they encounter. And thats the issue with PvP servers now, we have flying to avoid any reprisal after a gank, we have CRZ hoping to escape any chance for your victim to get revenge. prior to the latest change who was enjoying World PvP in Legion? DKs with Coldheart, Rogues with shoulders and tanks. 1) Stealth originally hurt PvP in classic (Rogues/Ferals) 2) Flying hurt WPvP permanently (gank then fly away or gank and then fly up to safety) 3) CRZ hurt WPvP permanently (gank than escape to another servers zone) 4) Legion legendaries hurt WPvP (some steps taking to address this)
Being able to voicechat everybody, even those not in a party, would be AWESOME! Of course with settings to toggle such as only party or only players within certain distance. Also, the further away somebody is the quieter they are! Omg, that would be awesome. Imagine if they had that in TBC... You see the Doomwalker, run past it, then 10 seconds later in the distance you hear "FUUUUCCKKK!". Love it.
Im actually happy they are doing this. No tier sets means you have a reason to get gear from the next raid tier. It also means you are not required to go back to clear old raids to get your best items. Hopefully we don’t have another CoF in BFA. Now with removal of tier I hope they put more emphasis of the artifact replacement system. I hope they keep the legendary system because with BFA this can allow more mix and matching, you could honestly change out legendaries for different encounters. I’m looking forward to this new system.
Another way to give tier sets the set bonus is to maybe personalise them with inscription, enchants, JC. And I know JC is already there but maybe through that kind of thing.
I would so rather do island expeditions all day than mythic+. I loved scenarios in MoP. I have had some very bad experiances in m+ at the start of this xpac and for several months after, that left a horrible taste in my mouth for them, so haven't set foot in a m+ since probably March of this year. Hearing that a scenario-like event was coming back that I could do instead of m+ excited me.
The thing that annoys me the most is opening up your weekly mythic chest, or getting a really high ilvl piece that is not apart of the tier set, and end not using them because of the tier bonuses. For example on my shadow priest, I rolled a 940 head piece w/ crit haste which is my best stats, but I'm stuck to using my heroic 915 headpiece for the 4set bonus. Unfortunately, I've been on and off Legion from the start and have yet to get belt/sephuz. I have to use Zeks/HotV chest which both take up a tier slot, so I don't have the luxury of switching gear around.
I think a good solution for heirlooms would be if you could imprint gear onto them as you leveled. The heirloom starts at a baseline level and stays there, and as you get improvements in dungeons or whatever, you can imprint them onto the heirloom, which will then take on the stats of that item (until you imprint a new one). That way, people can keep their heirlooms and still have something resembling gear progression in the leveling game.
Oh man I remember doing the Ogri'la dailies back in TBC pretty much every day and having ahole rogues sap you while doing the Simon quest... the memories.
Part of the reason tier sets aren't going to work so well in BfA is the armor that gets augmented by the Heart of Azeroth is helm, shoulders, and chest, and they don't warforge or titanforge.
Expansion theme: they needed to reset from World of Starcraft but also don't think Horde vs Alliance will be the main plot of the expansion. They even hinted that in they outro line - who cares which faction wins "if there is nothing for the victor to claim". Pyromancer did great videos about it. BfA for your character will be a bit more detective work. "There is war, cool, but something not right here". Queen Azshara is to major character to face in raid without a lot o lore passing by :) Tier sets: they did said anything but it's possible that raid helm/shoulders/chest - those empowered by Heart of Azerite will be the new tier pieces. As the options you will be able to pick from are hand made - raid items may have more raid oriented options to pick and similarly those from M+ or PvP may have options also more tailored for give play mode. So instead of fixed tier bonus you may like or not you will have a lot of things to choose and customize - if done right. And also as those pieces don't XForge - you will be rewarded for like Mythic raiding more ;) Warfronts and Islands - the 20 man mode was AFAIK PvE for now and they were to think if PvP can work for this. The Island explorarion is something that is way closer to have PvP variant. Also they were talking about special consumables to counter lack of given role in team. So a mage could be bit more tanky and so on. And they hyped the AI a lot so they like ignore threat and go for healer or CC him :)
in-game recruitment will be much more pleasant and open now that there will most likely be an entire community built around recruiting. I think this is a great step forward in making the end game much more accessible and enjoyable to those that may be hesitant at going to another server.
The necklace slot won't be taken up by the Heart of Azeroth. Ion stated it's not something you actually wear on your neck, just something you carry with you. Go find some of his interviews from Blizzcon, neck slot isn't tied up for the next expansion.
subraces : awesome! gimme that void elf. no more tier sets and bonuses? : good. was a pointless concept anyway and the "set" stats were always shit, like haste/vers or similar. zone scaling : fuckyeah zonescaling, a reason to go back to old content zones and just clear everything out again. (maybe even level up from 1 to 110 without looms) good stuff.
Tier bonuses that are extremely strong and released at the start of an expansion was a major mistake on blizzards part (as well as trinkets such as Convergence of Fates, Whispers in the Dark, etc), as titanforging essentially makes those bonuses and items bis for the entire expansion if the items roll high enough. Remove titanforging, and the problem resolves; players would replace the lower gear with newer gear as long as the bonuses aren't completely absurd. Blizzard is surely very well aware of how badly they fucked this up. On the contrary, the "Legendary" Necklace that we get at the beginning of the next expac supposedly has bonuses that are similar to tier sets, so if that's the case then tier sets may as well be removed so many more slots are available to players when gearing, and it also makes running dungeons a much more viable method of gearing, instead of specifically farming for trinkets/relics or jewellery which is what dungeons are right now.
Had similar thoughts about removal of tier sets. I came from conclusion, that they basically removed all gear incentives from raid. I would not only make 8pc tier sets, but make every item in raid be a set piece. If there would be 4 pair of boots in instance, why can't we choose one best for us, and make it contribute to our Tier bonus.
Great idea for 8 piece tier sets with up to 4 peices for the bonus. So you could the helmet, shoulders, chest and legs of the set and mix and match a lot more other peices. I thinkt his works better for item balance!
I agree with the tier armor comments, but think removing pvp servers makes the same mistake by offering the wind solution to a problem Blizz crated. Massive server merges are the only real solution IMO. I feel xrealm tech has hurt the game more than anything.
i'm not 100% sure how they are going to do this but a while back i actually suggested that blizzard reactivate old set bonuses over the past many years. i dont know what buffs will be available on the head shoulder chest pieces but if it turns out to be what i think it is, i think they will 'reimplement' old bonuses as selections on these 3 pieces. in short its going to give people freedom to choose the 'buffs' they want from a plethora of sources so, there will likely still be a 'bis' piece with the highest ilvl and guaranteed buffs but, i think what this does is generalize the game for casuals even more which, if Asmongold actually reads this will likely cause him to nerdrage. also, while the 3 pieces have heart of azeroth lvls to unlock the buffs what people are neglecting to realize is these 'reqs' will likely scale with ilvl of piece so that if you get a piece 10 or 15 ilvl higher you'll be required to gain additional levels in your heart of azeroth to unlock the best reward on the piece. so if a low lvl piece only requires 10 lvls on the neck one that's 10-15 ilvl higher may require 12 13 or even 14 lvls on neck. it keeps the currency relevant to the game but also means that some dumb shmuck that got super lucky but puts no work in wont be able to unlock the best traits till they earn the currency to do so. This is just my personal hypothesis on how the process will work and what will be available on the head shoulder and chest pieces. It is going to reintroduce the nerdraging in M+ for getting that 1 drop out of the dungeon with bis, its going to cause nerd raging in raids when like 10 people all want a piece b/c its an ilvl upgrade but plebs dont realize that it will have bis buffs for like 1 or 2 classes but the third class takes it b/c they're retarded and dont realize or care. i think this idea has some REALLY cool implementations where you can find the pieces you want or need from multiple sources not just raids but on the other hand make people NUTS trying to get 1 piece running a dungeon many times to try and get it while beating their face on their keyboard when some pleb gets looted their bis piece from a raid and you've run one of the new M+ a few hundred times trying to get a comparable piece with no luck.
the major problem is blizzard never learned from the artifact system. with this new neck item you get to empower other slots of gear that is literally artifact power 2.0 just another giant grind fest that no one will like
So here's a thought for heirlooms - let them keep their xp bonus and stat allocations, but require players to 'infuse' them with items they get while leveling. simple mechanic, when you infuse your heirloom with an item, it takes on that items ilevel, forcing you to look at items that drop as you level to see if they would make you more powerful. this would vastly simplify leveling gearing, while still asking you to care at least a LITTLE about the gear that drops.
Some really good points, I agree with the focus needing to shift back an stay with Azeroth. Let's hope this continues all the good Legion did and fixes a few of the issues.
As someone who is mostly new to the game i played a little of wod and just started back up a week ago in legion. I switched to a pvp server because it was a higher pop and i want to big dick it. But the thing i like about it the most is just the randomness that happens when you are out leveling. Just now while i was watching this video i was leveling my warrior in a legion area and a warlock and another warrior attacked me while i was moving between areas and i kicked their asses because they were 2 levels below me. I got that rush of excitement from being attacked and then after i killed them both i got this huge sense of accomplishment because they had ambushed me and i destroyed them. Little encounters like that are so valuable to me. Even the worst times when someone 110 while im lvling a character at 60 honestly inst even that annoying. It is worth it for me.
They're not completely removing tier sets. They're taking a different approach to them, they won't be class specific. They'll probably add more generalized set bonusses.
To stop the whole 2pc + 4pc + 2pc "problem", all they need to do is to make it "if 4pc is enabled, but is not this tier's 4pc, then disable this piece's 2pc". Then there you go. Once you have a 4pc, no other 2pc would work until you either break the 4pc, or equip the 4pc of that set.
+VirulentWalrus none of them are on the levels of ridiculousness as actually killing KJ, gul'dan, traveling on a fucking space ship to the main base planet of the legion, killing pretty much all the legion forces, chilling with titans, killing the planet of Argus it's self and possibly fighting sargeras (speculated to be the mythic only fight at the end of the next raid) oh and dealing with the emerald nightmare and xavias. Plus, both KJ and C'thun where in in weakened states in AQ and Sunwell.
+VirulentWalrus that doesn't help your argument; the fact that everyone is running around with ashbringers/ doomhammers makes the game, from a story perspective, even more over the top and stupid. Plus, making the jolt into BFA even worst.
TBH for pvp servers, I'm on one cause i followed my friends, if it was my choice i wouldve chosen a pve server. With server xfers and such, I'm pretty sure it's the case for a lot of people. That said, i can't wait to untoggle pvp while leveling chars, low level pvp is garbage and i cringe everytime someone defends "1shotting people with moonfire is essential to pvp servcers"
I don't know if you see these comments asmon. But i love how your channel has evolved from 200subs to too many. Its good to see that you can do what you love. Im the silent fan who just watches but doesnt say anythin. Keep up the good work mate!
Idk i disagree with the statement that fighting Sargeras in space was a "spectacle creep" I think is what he said. How else were we supposed to defeat him, the ultimate enemy in WoW's story arch? I think it was made fantastically, and going to Argus was a dream of mine ever since Dranei came out. Unless you wanted to smack on his top half like Kil Jaden in some blood elf building.
I thought I heard that you won't have to wear it to get the effect. So it's just got to be in your inventory to collect the azurite (sp). So it won't even be taking up a slot.
Id like to see tier sets maybe set up like Elder scrolls online. In that game you craft set bonuses. And there are "crafting tables" in sometimes difficult to get to places that let you craft some cool set bonus gear. As long as it was untradeable it will drive ppl to do their professions.
do you want the classic servers to remain as just vanilla game and that's it, or would you like them to go in a similar direction that old school runescapo did, with new content being made for classic?
Do you think that the 3 v Environment vs 3 island scenarios (If i remember they said they were testing these) could be a test for possibly implementing P vs E vs P warfronts?
how about instead of getting a tierset piece you get like a rune or something that you can use to enchant the armory slot with. this will keep the bonuses and you are not locked on that item because you enchated the slot but not the item? :o
@ Asmongold I just wanted to let you know at Blizzcon they explained that the Heart of Azeroth will not take a gear slot it will just be something that your character has. but knowing blizzard and how early it is this could change,
I really liked the idea about allowing people with PvP toggled on to use their honor talents in the open world regardless of fighting another player. To me that's the best incentive especially because I think an xp boost would force pve players into toggling on when they wouldn't want to and it wouldn't improve the experience for pvp players. Great vid and welcome back.
I have a feeling BfA is not going to be as much faction war as they are letting on. There were many hints in the Blizzcon panels that there is going to be a larger threat that will become present.
Something about the scale of things, in the way it progressed makes me feel a lot like watching the story of a D&D campaign that's reached high epic (Level 30+ for that game). And no one who's actually played Epic D&D (Especially 3.5) would dispute how bonkers things can get at that point. Not sure I had a point I was gonna make or not, but still my thoughts on the situation as a whole!
I'd like to see, now bare with me here - Diablo 2 rune words (With a slight tweak) become the new set bonus for items in WOW, so like you're saying our slots don't get locked down. Certain hidden gem/rune combinations create set bonuses for the gear you pick up. This achieves a few things, 1: you get a new economy with runes so another way to generate gold, 2: it enables actual customisation to your character, example two warlocks can have the same helm stat wise and same name but they can tweak the bonuses through runewords giving a little bit of uncertainty in PVP. Meaning players with more knowledge of the game gain a slight edge. I could list more but already too much typing.
I was so hyped for vanilla but I dont want top waste time plucking away on a private server if my character wont stick around. I then went to another server with instant 60 to test out classes and see which would be worth playing. Good thing too, I would have wasted so much time leveling these toons just to find out they are sub par. And because of that I lost my hype and I'm back on retail. Time better spent
Warfronts sound pretty amazing. But so did Ashran and we all know how that turned out.^^ As long as they don't put in anything stupid like that artifact shit that made ashran 100% onesided all the time i'm all for it. The tier set thing doesn't bother me at all because i probably won't raid anyways at least not in wow. Not caring about Voice Chat too because there's discord. Also if it's one of those talk to random 13 year olds voice chats like in a lot of game these days, i probably turn it off on the first day. Communities are fucking great tho. Those with the fact that i can play on my old server again where all my characters sit, without getting killed by shitty alliance kids camping me on spawn, are a great addition.
Do you think Blizz will address the stupendously dull rotations that plague the majority of classes nowadays? No matter how many cool new sieges/scenarios/events you can do, it will still feel like a cinematic if you have to push 2 buttons.
They will not address the dull rotations. They made the rotations easier so even casual players could play the game. If people truly liked complex or difficult rotations then survival hunters wouldn't have such low representation. I don't believe even the survival rotation is difficult but it does punish you for misusing cooldowns and spamming raptor strike. Demonology rotation is easy but punishing as well and many don't play demonology. The easiest rotation in the game belong to beast master hunters and they are everywhere. So although I would want to see more complicated rotations, I don't believe blizzard would do it.
Blizzard will never design the game for the 20% of the population that wishes for a challenge. They will cater to the 80% who just want to be able to maneuver characters competitively and are willing to pay $15 dollars a month to do it.
I think Asmongold kind of missed the point with their reasoning behind removing tier sets. Having sets with 8 pieces would only make the problem worse. They want to get rid of tier sets so that people don't feel like they're obligated to farm the best combinations of set pieces with the BiS stat allocations from previous raids trying to get the perfect mix. Having to use tier from previous raids because the current raids tier bonuses are shit doesn't feel very good and leaves you farming content you've completed and stopped caring about months ago. I'll be sad to see tier sets go but at the same time I think it's a positive change. I personally would rather that Blizzard nerfed tier sets from the old raids enough that it would be worth using the current tier but that's hard to do with how some bonuses work when it's more of a mechanical advantage rather than just pure numbers which means more time balancing and using time that could be spent elsewhere.
theirs actually another problem with tier sets, and it's kind of an unsolvable problem. and that is that players have simply gotten too good. one of, if not the strongest tier bonus ever was also very game changing, the demonology 2 and 4pc from brf. what would have otherwise been an interesting power bonus and change in gameplay turned good demo locks into aoe machines capable of just eliminating entire mechanics from fights, adds just did not exist on several fights if you brought 2 demo locks. the solution blizzard came to with that problem was to progressively make less and less interesting tier bonuses. at this point they're boring and cumbersome. class devs are no longer allowed to make "fun" tier bonuses or trinkets because good players will break the game.
Cmon man, you know as well as I do that this whole faction war is something spurred on by the Old Gods and that the second half of the expansion will be their arrival and will likely end with us facing off with a Void Lord.
People play on pvp servers so they can kill people 80 levels below them in 1 hit. With pvp togglable no one will toggle it on until they're max level, then they'll go to redridge or stonetalon to 1 shot nubbs.
wow just found your channel. Really good videos dude, keep it up!!
SUP YALL ITS ME ASMONGOLD
i wanna play wow with u plz
catdany plz
SUP YALL ITS CATDANY
Silly kitten
Can't wait for 12 years from now when I get to enjoy battle for azeroth on legacy servers.
The legacy WoD servers are highly anticipated
lol
Omg, legacy WoD without cut content plz!
yeah legacy WoD without cut content and having garrisons not be a thing
WoD wont be a thing mostly Vanila/TBC/Wrath thats it. After these exp over game went shit totally shit
"Wrong solution for the right problem" makes a great epitaph for WoW.
Because grind=subs=more money for them
That's really it.
You got the warfront wrong. The Horde is sieging Stromgarde. Alliance is trying to push them out of Arathi.
*Zone scaling won't fix leveling*
I even think it will make leveling worse.
They even did the scaling in legion and didn't recognize how bad it is.
here's what they have to do to fix leveling: -remove heirlooms. they make leveling way too easy and you never get any gear upgrades which feels just horrible ( it's and rpg common)
- reduce the experience gain from dungeon and questing , but more from dungeons so people stop grinding dungeonfinder to level up
- increase the difficulty of leveling. you shouldn't be able to pull 10+ mobs and one shot everything while questing. it will also make your max
level character something prestigious you've earned and can be proud of
yes you're right, players will still need a certain level to go into higher zone but the problem is "why would they"?. theres no need to do that because you can stay from 1 to 60 in westfall and other low level zones. that's why they should decrease the experience you gain, so players have to go through most of the zones.
guild wars 2 for example does have a scaling system. even though I stoped playing because the endgame was boring, I still remember leveling up in guild wars was the best leveling experience i've ever had.the difference was 1. i was really challenging 2. gear mattered 3. you still had scaling in the zone itself. for example : a zone was from 1-15 then mobs in the starting areas were level 1 but you couldn't go much further because level 6 mobs would kill you easily.
Kühn Andreas you do realize that heirlooms are a CHOICE to wear...lol no one is holding a gun to your head saying to wear them while leveling a toon.
that is probably the worst argument I've ever heard regarding heirlooms.
1) Stealth originally hurt PvP in classic (Rogues/Ferals)
2) Flying hurt WPvP permanently (gank then fly away or gank and then fly up to safety)
3) CRZ hurt WPvP permanently (gank than escape to another servers zone)
4) Legion legendaries hurt WPvP (some steps taking to address this)
Some calls in this video were terrifyingly dead on.
Your character looks so sick with sprinting around with that fast set haha. Makes a perfect background for these talk videos
Somewhere in the distance, Blizzard is triggered that the community keeps calling them "sub races" still.
Faction Champions was my favourite boss fight in the game because it felt like an actual battle.
If they implement playstyle changes with azurite armor (Arms warrior bladestorm on ST) it's a good change.
I'm torn. After going all around the universe to stop the biggest bads in the story...the Horde and Alliance are still having penis length battles?
Expansion theme: they needed to reset from World of Starcraft but also don't think Horde vs Alliance will be the main plot of the expansion. They even hinted that in they outro line - who cares which faction wins "if there is nothing for the victor to claim". Pyromancer did great videos about it. BfA for your character will be a bit more detective work. "There is war, cool, but something not right here". Queen Azshara is to major character to face in raid without a lot o lore passing by :)
Tier sets: they did said anything but it's possible that raid helm/shoulders/chest - those empowered by Heart of Azerite will be the new tier pieces. As the options you will be able to pick from are hand made - raid items may have more raid oriented options to pick and similarly those from M+ or PvP may have options also more tailored for give play mode. So instead of fixed tier bonus you may like or not you will have a lot of things to choose and customize - if done right. And also as those pieces don't XForge - you will be rewarded for like Mythic raiding more ;)
Warfronts and Islands - the 20 man mode was AFAIK PvE for now and they were to think if PvP can work for this.
(maybe even level up from 1 to 110 without looms)
good stuff.
On the contrary, the "Legendary" Necklace that we get at the beginning of the next expac supposedly has bonuses that are similar to tier sets, so if that's the case then tier sets may as well be removed so many more slots are available to players when gearing, and it also makes running dungeons a much more viable method of gearing, instead of specifically farming for trinkets/relics or jewellery which is what dungeons are right now.
what is he farming?
Blake Grier apixes shards so he could play simon says from the looks of it.
Blake Grier apexis crystals for transmog maybe?
Blake Grier looks like he's getting eggs for the nether drake rep in outland. Shadowmoon valley
Or I'm completely wrong idk lol
Moko shotah yeah you’re wrong
BenG lmfao
Had similar thoughts about removal of tier sets. I came from conclusion, that they basically removed all gear incentives from raid. I would not only make 8pc tier sets, but make every item in raid be a set piece. If there would be 4 pair of boots in instance, why can't we choose one best for us, and make it contribute to our Tier bonus.
Great idea for 8 piece tier sets with up to 4 peices for the bonus. So you could the helmet, shoulders, chest and legs of the set and mix and match a lot more other peices. I thinkt his works better for item balance!
Glad to hear your gonna output more videos, thought you were giving up on your channel there for a bit.
I agree with the tier armor comments, but think removing pvp servers makes the same mistake by offering the wind solution to a problem Blizz crated. Massive server merges are the only real solution IMO. I feel xrealm tech has hurt the game more than anything.
What are you framing in blades edge?
i'm not 100% sure how they are going to do this but a while back i actually suggested that blizzard reactivate old set bonuses over the past many years. i dont know what buffs will be available on the head shoulder chest pieces but if it turns out to be what i think it is, i think they will 'reimplement' old bonuses as selections on these 3 pieces. in short its going to give people freedom to choose the 'buffs' they want from a plethora of sources so, there will likely still be a 'bis' piece with the highest ilvl and guaranteed buffs but, i think what this does is generalize the game for casuals even more which, if Asmongold actually reads this will likely cause him to nerdrage. also, while the 3 pieces have heart of azeroth lvls to unlock the buffs what people are neglecting to realize is these 'reqs' will likely scale with ilvl of piece so that if you get a piece 10 or 15 ilvl higher you'll be required to gain additional levels in your heart of azeroth to unlock the best reward on the piece. so if a low lvl piece only requires 10 lvls on the neck one that's 10-15 ilvl higher may require 12 13 or even 14 lvls on neck. it keeps the currency relevant to the game but also means that some dumb shmuck that got super lucky but puts no work in wont be able to unlock the best traits till they earn the currency to do so.
Personally like the more grounded conflict, constantly fighting world ending demons and such gets a bit old.
the major problem is blizzard never learned from the artifact system. with this new neck item you get to empower other slots of gear that is literally artifact power 2.0 just another giant grind fest that no one will like
propain They did learn. This progression is character wide and not spec wide which is a huge improvement from the current AP system.
8:40 what does sharting have to do with any of this.
I mostly agree with everything you said. Between BFA and WoW Classic my hype for this game is overloading right now.
You make it sound like we didn't kill big bads in other expansions, C'Thun in classic, KJ was banished in the Sunwell...etc.
And we were empowered by our Artifacts. gg
+VirulentWalrus that doesn't help your argument; the fact that everyone is running around with ashbringers/ doomhammers makes the game, from a story perspective, even more over the top and stupid. Plus, making the jolt into BFA even worst.
i dont really care one way or the other i just play this game to raid rofl
+VirulentWalrus fair enough
TBH for pvp servers, I'm on one cause i followed my friends, if it was my choice i wouldve chosen a pve server. With server xfers and such, I'm pretty sure it's the case for a lot of people.
That said, i can't wait to untoggle pvp while leveling chars, low level pvp is garbage and i cringe everytime someone defends "1shotting people with moonfire is essential to pvp servcers"
like preacher said on this, "they poisoned the well, you can't make tier sets boring and then say you removed them because they're boring"
Imagine moon guard with voice chat
I thought I heard that you won't have to wear it to get the effect. So it's just got to be in your inventory to collect the azurite (sp). So it won't even be taking up a slot.
Id like to see tier sets maybe set up like Elder scrolls online. In that game you craft set bonuses. And there are "crafting tables" in sometimes difficult to get to places that let you craft some cool set bonus gear. As long as it was untradeable it will drive ppl to do their professions.
tbh fighting each other is even more spectacle creep because we are the ones who beat argus.
Savage ??? Do you even get what spectacle creep means?
do you want the classic servers to remain as just vanilla game and that's it, or would you like them to go in a similar direction that old school runescapo did, with new content being made for classic?
Do you think that the 3 v Environment vs 3 island scenarios (If i remember they said they were testing these) could be a test for possibly implementing P vs E vs P warfronts?
i cant stop looking at his hair
how about instead of getting a tierset piece you get like a rune or something that you can use to enchant the armory slot with. this will keep the bonuses and you are not locked on that item because you enchated the slot but not the item? :o
@ Asmongold I just wanted to let you know at Blizzcon they explained that the Heart of Azeroth will not take a gear slot it will just be something that your character has. but knowing blizzard and how early it is this could change,
what r u doing in the background? farming old reps?
Please answer I'm so curious
Ogri'la rep in Blades Edge Mountains.
Sup y'all its me its ya boy asmongold
Dude, what is that green enchant on your swords?
I was so hyped for vanilla but I dont want top waste time plucking away on a private server if my character wont stick around. I then went to another server with instant 60 to test out classes and see which would be worth playing. Good thing too, I would have wasted so much time leveling these toons just to find out they are sub par. And because of that I lost my hype and I'm back on retail. Time better spent
@Asmongold I don't think Blizzard confirmed warfronts were going to be pvp unfortunately
Warfronts are PvE only btw. The 3v3 island battles are the PvP one.
I think instead of removing tier sets the correct solution is to not make the Azurite gear take up so many slots. Simple
Friends in WoW? That is a bold move, Chuck! Let's see how it plays out!
"Throw the baby off with the bath water" killed me
Love you Asmon
Super hyped for BfA. Legion has been excellent so if they can just build on that (minus the crappy legendary system) I’ll be happy.
Am coming back once the pre order allied race thingy comes in
do we know if they are going to have sets not just the bonuses?
What Transmog is that you´re using?
World Defiler's set. it can drop from rare spawns and chests on argus.
Is there a release date yet or estimation? Guessing 2019
joe jocklemonder September 2018
What is sharding?
I can't get more than a couple pieces of the Argus transmog set for shit. Got the same ones multiple times...
What are you farming in this video?
what are you farming here netherray?
Could someone tell me where people find all these updates on BoA?

Honestly I think they're gonna fuck us on the warfronts. I have this horrible feeling it's gonna be an Argus invasion with different scenery.
People play on pvp servers so they can kill people 80 levels below them in 1 hit. With pvp togglable no one will toggle it on until they're max level, then they'll go to redridge or stonetalon to 1 shot nubbs.
Asmon is the man. Dedicated and straight up boss warrior. Always like your vids! Should work for blizzard, they could use you for sure.
