- One of the best pieces written for the guitar. I've had people ask me after a performance "who wrote that?" and are surprised to hear an unfamiliar name. I remember one time in particular when a very talented Tulsa musician who knows his stuff asked me "was that Chopin?"
Capricho Árabe is an exceptional piece. Very musical and lyrical. Stylistically, it's closer to a piano sonata than anything else. When Tárrega wrote it, most people and cultures didn't think much of the guitar, but of course, the Spanish culture adored the instrument. Tárrega's contributions to the classical guitar repertoire helped others to see that it was more than just strings you strummed. When Segovia began playing in recital halls and bringing the instrument into prominence, this piece was a staple in his performances.
Guitar as we know it today wouldn't be the same were it not for Tárrega. Players of all genres and styles owe him much for expanding the technical bounds and broadening the musical scope of what a guitar can do, bringing the instrument into popularity with wonderful works such as this.

Isso que é música!
Thanks for this. Sounds great, and I got a few tips from your performance!
Getting practice in when you have young kids can be a bit difficult, I gather!
No! You can't play with Dad's guitar. I'm locking the gate!
A very nice rendition!
Thanks! Btw, I meant to comment on that Roland Dyens piece you posted yesterday. Imma go do that now...
Most excellent
I like this interpretation - smooth and slow so you can appreciate the guitars harmonics and nuances of the artists expressional infusion..
