No matter how good I get at classical guitar and out of respect for Tárrega, I don’t feel I’m worthy of touching that guitar. If the people gave me the guitar to try, I’d politely refuse to touch it.
About every 2 years Pepe gave a concert in San Francisco. The auditorium venue was always sold out. Pepe knew the SF crowd was real guitar fanatics. He played pieces like this and others just to show his skill instead of the flashy better known pieces. Each time he would play this piece where each pluck of the string was soft and quiet. Then he would get louder and louder gradually. Only Pepe could do this. The crowds were stunned and gave standing ovation each time.
Segovia was like that too. I still recall attending one his concerts in 1965 in Cleveland (yes, THAT Cleveland). Only a few performers have legendary status.
I can’t believe I grew up with this talented family in Del Mar, playing soccer together and watching the whole family perform every cinco de mayo! My junior high math teacher took me to see them at the Hollywood Bowl and made me realize how big they are. A true national treasure!
Been playing this song for the better part of 15 years. I first learned it from a master class (on dvd). Listened to this interpretation and performance once, and it has completely changed the way I think of this song. The phrasing is glorious, what a master
Romero accentuates every note; his phrasing is excellent. It was like hearing Capricho Arabe played the way it should sound. He really is a grand master.
This instantly brings back memories of a trip to Granada some years ago. We stopped for a drink at a small place somewhere in the city when suddenly a luthier test-played one of his guitars. He got carried away by the sound of his instrument very quickly and started noodling the spanish way for a while. I don't have any more intense memories of that journey and Mr. Romero brought them back effortlessly. Thanks a lot!
Romantic and wonderful classical guitar music. Thank you very much, Francisco Tárrega Musician, Classical Guitarist Pepe Romero, Antonio De Torres Guitar and Guitar Salon International. 🌹💖🌹💖🌹💖🌹💖
Man this is the best version so far. Initially I was sceptical about the pacing but it grew on me and tone of this guitar is phenomenal. The piece itself is other worldly
It is a blessing to be able to watch and listen to grand master playing on the grand master’s work. Arrangement sounds very emotional and that was how he was feeling this moment. It is wonderful to hear not always same arrangements. It makes each moment in history unique and special.
Extraordinary music! When played like this (but who else can?), every single note tells not only its own story, but also the story of this piece as a whole. I feel now like I finally know what this music really says.
Such a masterful performance by one of the greats! He really makes that aged instrument sing! I am so glad the strings used were included in the description-they have a wonderful tone-of course mainly due to the Maestro's skill and the instrument, as well!
What a beautiful tone! Torres guitars are surely the Stradivarius of guitars. Pepe is probable the perfect player to demonstrate the exquisite sound of a Torres guitar.
@@diydad7704 exactly, a guitar requires much more tone from the fingers than the violin(although tone is still important its kinda necessary for a good violin for a nice and listenable interpretation)
I listened to three or four versions of this piece this morning by different musicians. Pepe takes the gold. Everybody knows how to play this lyrically… Pepe plays it musically. Brings tears to my eyes, which is the ultimate test. Everyone else was soothing-not bad, but not MUSICAL.
Beautiful performances. I wasn't watching carefully in the beginning, just listening. And, I quickly noticed that the guitar sounded noticeably better than the Ramirez he usually plays. The Torres is so balanced and rich across all tonal frequencies. I think Spruce makes the best sounding tops. Thanks
I'm probaby uncultured/ignorant, and it's surely a very accurate interpretation, but I like the freer interpretations, like David Russell's, or Marcin Dylla's. I find it lacks a bit of soul, but I do love Pepe's renditions of many pieces.
He's playing Capricho on a guitar once owned by Tárrega himself! This piece has truly come home.
No matter how good I get at classical guitar and out of respect for Tárrega, I don’t feel I’m worthy of touching that guitar. If the people gave me the guitar to try, I’d politely refuse to touch it.
He is listening as he plays, nuancing every phrase.
In all of Pepe's work I love his phrasing and feeling. Every note and every silence has its role.
Every note you play is a pearl.

This is one of my favorite versions I’ve heard. So many players rush it too much.
I love how gracefully he plays, such character and color. He really brings the melodies to life❤
Romero accentuates every note; his phrasing is excellent. It was like hearing Capricho Arabe played the way it should sound. He really is a grand master.
A classical guitar giant playing one of the most iconic musical pieces on the instrument once owned by Tarrega himself. Amazing!
An amazing collaboration between an amazing artist and a legendary instrument. So grateful to GSI for making this possible!

Man this is the best version so far. Initially I was sceptical about the pacing but it grew on me and tone of this guitar is phenomenal. The piece itself is other worldly

My friend Aaron played this a lot in high school and it brings back good memories to listen to it now. Great recording!
I have never heard this piece played so beautifully 😢
Perfect timing and delivery
The most beautiful piece of music played by a master.
Every note shines through
the phrasing is impeccable
Excellent really Excellent !!
So grateful to have had Pepe as a teacher
as someone always in my corner with a kind word.
I miss flying to Del Mar to study with the Romeros.
How is he as a teacher ? Strict with the technique ? Fun to enjoy with ?
Sublime. A master at work.
Mind blowing playing / interpretation
I’ve heard it played many, many times but never has it sounded so emotional. Perfection.
great performance PEPE
and the wonderful sound of the TORRES guitar thanks
The Grand Maestro of La Guitarra!
His rubato choices are masterful
Such a masterful performance by one of the greats! He really makes that aged instrument sing! I am so glad the strings used were included in the description-they have a wonderful tone-of course mainly due to the Maestro's skill and the instrument, as well!
It was a unique performance of a giant artist. Thanks for uploading.
Probably, best performing of capricio on YT
MARAVILLOso EnTODOS MOS IDIOMAS DEL MUNDO,¡GRACIAS POR TANTO ARTE Y BELLEZA!!!

Manos maravillosas
it's like hearing it for the first time. master
goosebumps for 6 long minutes ... my skin can't handle this. amazing ...
That was so stunning. What a sound, goosebumps..
Bien hecho!
What a beautiful tone! Torres guitars are surely the Stradivarius of guitars. Pepe is probable the perfect player to demonstrate the exquisite sound of a Torres guitar.
That may be true but a guitarists tone is in his fingers.

Great Pepe Romero
Beautifully played, wonderful colours and tone and the tempo blows me away!
Bravo, world class performance.
Lovely interpretation, with a natural pace, with no eccentric virtuosity. Thanks for sharing this jewel
This is tuned to a432... For those who try to reproduce
Indeed, the base tone is so deep and rich.
Qué gozada...cada nota. Qué maestría. Gracias.
Valeuuu 😄

Beautiful articulation. Beautiful story.
The best performance of capricho arabe that i have ever heard 👏 👏 👏 i think that's Exactly the same Tarrega wanted to perform on his mind.
To be honest,l love Pepe's playing.Alot of feelings has been given to this music.
perfección absoluta!!!
Grandissimo, Maestro!
Loving Pepe, given me the inspiration to pick up classical guitar and learn a little
Amazing
I know he’s regarded as one of the greatest players and wow this was good.
What a beautiful playing.
Thank you it is so great to hear a great guitar and not have to look at it behind glass in an over prices bar.
His interpretation flows in a nice clean pace. Thank you
El Mejor... Pepe Romero.
Grandissimo.
Pepe is true the master for this piece
Many great guitarist just played it too fast
and can’t catch the every notes and melody
Just taught this to a student today❤
Segovia was never this good! I'm speechless at 70.
Segovia knocked this out of the park
SENSATIONAL VERY BEAUTIFUL
Amazing sound ! Thank you for sharing !
It is just perfect.
Great interpretation. Thank you!
Bravissimo!
Cuanta belleza!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Maestro Romero, the best at performing Tarrega's repertoire.
Que beleza essa execução!!! BRAVÍSSSIMO!!!!
Incredible performance!

Thank you for sharing this video ❤❤❤🙏🙏🙏🦋
Sounds so intimate ! Never heard a version like this!
Great as Allways
I'm practicing it now. I hope I can master this piece 🙏🏻
Best rendition I've heard thus far - kudos!

I would love to spend just five minutes with this guitar 🙂. Soo original...
he plays every note like he means it
Beautiful performances. I wasn't watching carefully in the beginning, just listening. And, I quickly noticed that the guitar sounded noticeably better than the Ramirez he usually plays. The Torres is so balanced and rich across all tonal frequencies. I think Spruce makes the best sounding tops. Thanks
Not to mention the spruce here must be ancient by now.
I think the intonation is poor on that Torres...

gracias.sip.
The Master! 👏👏
Masterpiece
