I use 10mm lead for hard hitting close up work. They are devastating on rats. I'm a keen air gunner and was asked to thin out rats next to the main road so I tried my hand at slingshots so I didn't get locked up
Yeah that's a good shot, i like to be awkward and use 3/8" steels for plinking and then 3/8" leads for a bit of extra oomph. I also like to play around with 8x11mm and 9x12mm bean shot, the keyholing on the beans is devastating, it hits with a greater surface area and seems to dump the energy far quicker. Only problem is my lead moulds all only do one shot at a time so very time consuming to cast. I have been thinking about ordering 2 fishing lead moulds in 5g and 8 gram they're about 25 each on Ali and cast about 10 per pour.
@MDM1992 I've got a size 0 (10mm) fishing mold. They are a lot of work trimming all the spurs of and tumbling them till they are round.
Thanks man. In a world of madness, I'm glad that in scotland we also worry about band width, thickness and taper.:)
Taaaaaapeeeerrr!!!!!!!
Excellent vid brother. The thinner elastic is definitely alot faster when cut and tapered correctly. 👍
Great video brother! A lot of great information. Thanks for taking time to do these! 👊🙏
your setup will be the bane of squirrels this fall lol
Good comparison all around... great band review....
Enjoyed that intresting stuff fanks
That light draw, .6 band is sounding interesting. Thanks, Mike.
the increased draw length is amazing for speed aspect!!
Theraband Gold??was the big thing out here in the UK....nice review thanks for sharing.
top demais esse video , era o que eu estava procurando , obrigado amigo .
I love these type of videos
Great testing, I’m going to try the Falcon 0.75 for my 3/8 steel. Probably something like 22-15 160mm
Hey Smo, how about you do a chronograph test on 11mm steel at close range and then move back say 20-25 meters and get speeds. That way we can see how much they lose over distance. I think the drop will be less than we all think. Just make sure you cover the front in case of a flyer 😉 thanks.
stretch ratios, brother. speed testing same length bands always favours latex with less stretch. good video 👍
I did cut all these bands to be very close to maxed at my draw length, so they are all different lengths. There were a couple that were 100% maxed, and some that were maybe only 95% maxed, but they were all cut to be very close to the maximum elongation.
Excellent video lots to think about 👍🏻
Thanks for the information. Nice video 😊😊😊
questions:, what's the avg. band length? (5 or 6 inches?) average draw length? I have a 28-30" draw, so 6"band is good, but 6.5" or even 6.75" have better flight characteristics. but they don't fly as fast, just flatter trajectory over a longer distance. (in practice ...but that could just be my imagination, haven't measured)
My draw length is 31in. the bands are cut different lengths to get very close to max because some stretch more than others. most are very close to 5.5 or 6 inches.
If the same ammo is going flatter and further, they have to be moving faster. it's not possible to get better distance and trajectory without added speed.
What if I tried to use .6 with a taper from 27 to 22 still 11 ammo? Still short draw, would it shoot like a .7 from 25 to 20?
Hey bub. Quick question. Does anyone measure the target end for speed? Ive always wondered what the back end speed is and how much energy is actually hitting target.
Thank you!
Brad
🎯🤘😁
With any big steel or medium lead you're not losing much velocity. ATO Mark did a video on the topic and I was surprised how little was lost with large steel.
Hola amigo, dónde puedo comprar tus resorteras, saludos desde Hermosillo, Sonora, Méxicos
Could you hunt with that speed shane uk 🇬🇧 learning not going to but it's good learning 👍
What does it mean to be tapered?
the latex is wider at the point where it attaches to the forks than at the point where it attaches to the pouch.
I find the cattyshack white bands are great with 11mm steel 25-20... I think all the simpleshot clip systems are naff for heavy band setups...unreliable
Yes I agree cattyshack is the best for band material
What is the hunting setup with 9.5 mm steel
Nice!
What chronograph is that.
Had the torq which was decent (gave to friend), hate anything oculars (not well secured bands... Threw the whole thing out).
My go to now is the "dead ringer" which I have in aluminum and it's awesome with heavy bands.
The sparrow is good, and honestly I just like natural Y's and cutting up old cutting boards to make odd setups.
What did they use before 1800s
What is the heaviest ammo you have tested ?
11mm steel
What taper do you hunt with typically?
25-15 with a .7 SimpleShot band
@@TheSmoShow1 thanks buddy , I have a question I believe I know the answer just wanna double check but will I get more speed and power from .5 over say a .6 or .7
I wouldnt believe that would be the case but figured I would ask.
it kinda depends on taper and projectile weight. Generally, thinner related retracts faster but thicker latex has more power. if your ammo is a little heavier I would increase the thickness of the band. 11mm steel and a .7 band with 25-15 taper works great for me.
@@TheSmoShow1 I have both actually 8mm and 9mm . When I bought ammo I bought few different sizes to try cause I wasn’t sure what was common. Well I will use the 1/4 for plinking around .

Is that frame for giveaway? 🙏 🙏
Are you right handed?
I am right handed. I hold the frame I. my left hand and draw the ammo to my face under my dominate eye.
@@TheSmoShow1 Its interesting how most people do that. I would of thought that the dominate hand, would be the one people would use too aim the frame? Like the most difficult task is too hold the frame steady and aim?
I don't think the hands matter at all... I truly believe when learning to shoot a sling, people need to draw the ammo back underneath their dominant eye.. Most people have the same hand/eye but it's so much easier to get accuracy quickly with your good eye
@@TheSmoShow1 lol ok last question. Which hand do you use to hold a bow ?
I shoot a bow exactly how I shoot the slingshot. left hand holds the bow, right hand holds the string
I would like to ask you, if it's not difficult, to put all the translations in all your videos, there are only a few translations offered and none of them are Croatian
Que grosor de ligas recomiendas para caza
Hunting vidio bro
Why would you put this on the internet? Your not using the same rubber. It's like comparing theraband gold and blue and saying your testing the taper. You just wasted everyone's time. Apples and orages.
