There is no storage system immune to stupidity, ignorance, or neglect. The best storage device I have ever found is an old smartphone. No chip to make calls. Just Wifi enabled.
So many cold storage devices are limited on tokens that old smart phones are perfect. No surfing on it. No texting, snapchatting, face booking or anything. Download the wallet, transfer your tokens, turn the phone off, and put it in your safe. Keep you passwords or passcodes electronically in a password storage device like LastPass on a computer. Get a free proton mail account. Email the passwords you need (with no subject line, just the password) to yourself on the smartphone which also has proton mail so your messages to yourself are encrypted. This way everything is not in one place. I secure millions in crypto this way. I love it.

I would say coldcard Mk4 is more secure than ledger since it has 2 security chips instead of one and it's open source. Also when shipping coldcard does not ask for unneeded data, ledger not only leaks your private data but fail to learn about it, after they had leaked all their private data of their customers, they were asking me for my personal home address which is a huge security hole, many ledger customer had issues with scammers because of providing extra data like home address,I managed to get around that issue but took over a month. Trezor, coldcard and keep key have never asked for my physical home information since they understand that is a security issue, but ledger does not see that as a security issue. Trezor is easier to use than ledger but lacks a security chip.

ledger wallet is not secure. Software is built inside it. Nobody on the internet can access your hand-written paper wallet, so paper wallet is best way to store your keys

Is Ledger really the most secure? How about air-gapped Coldcard for Bitcoin?
Coldcard is generally considered the best of the best in terms os security. I have one, but I don't use it because it's extremely complicated and I'm afraid of doing something stupid that would lose my funds. It has many hidden features.

Coldcard is the gold-standard but the next best is Trezor. Trezor is open source which means people have, and can continue to, verify that everything is working properly. Plus Trezor allows you to hold multiple cryptos, not just bitcoin.

LEDGER sucks! I've had a long ongoing "conversation" with them regarding their software and USB connections. Two months later? Still broken. No response. I notice that my comment on the matter was deleted.
@@derikuk2967 Not only that, they keep all the users personal information including credit card addresses and phone numbers on their servers forever, that’s what led to the big hack last year that put tens of thousands of customer personal information on the dark web and constant harassment and spam of phone calls, emails and hack attempts on their accounts. Another big flaw with the company is they hide their code in the wallet, they are not open source so you never know what kind of flaws they have.

Ledger devices have buggy USB connections. Beware of their hardware "updates" via Manager on Ledger Live. You'll be unable to add Apps (coins) or move any crypto when you cannot do a USB connect.

Cold wallets with seed phrases are secure but they are a ridiculous way of securing crypto. The Bitcoin industry seeks global adoption but this isn't going to happen with the confusing and complicated way of storing your assets. Say "password" and people run the opposite direction. The industry must create crypto security that's better, easier, and seamless. We are far from it.
Crypto storage will scale. Crypto services that are insured will also show up. Crypto cold wallet storage right now is only for the youth and the educated individuals that seek to secure their own private keys. Nothing is perfection but I am currently using the NGRAVE Zero which has no bluetooth/wifi and has a secure boot option to update it if you need to. It only uses QR codes to send and receive. I also own a Ledger and Trezor model T. The process will eventually scale for everyone.

I bought a ledger nano a couple of years ago and used it for a while. It's a pain in the ass pressing those little buttons and trying to read the tiny little characters on the tiny little screen. I'm 70 and impatient and my eyesight ain't what it used to be. I realized very quickly that my biggest risk to losing my crypto was my own stupidity and clumsiness. So now it's all earning interest or staking on exchanges. If you are holding crypto in the "not your keys, not your coins" mentality, you'd be better off putting your money in canned goods and other prepper crap. When the shit hits the fan nobody's going to want to play games with you and your funny money

Ledger had a security breach and someone had access to my phone number and email, this allowed someone to scam me, Ledger gave me zero help
