Can't believe I've spent hours today trying to thread my brother overllocker haven't been on it for a couple of years .saw this Video took me 5 minutes, thank you x
This is best video I have seen that gives simple instructions and close up views of what she doing at the same, I have spent hours looking for help videos and this was the only one that helped me, thank you!
This is my go-to video when I need a memory refresher! Not really sure why anyone would give it a thumbs down. Everything can be seen and heard very clearly. Thanks for posting it!
I moved last year and just now got to pull my machine back out. I realized I'd forgotten some steps, so I looked for this specific video. It's perfection.
First tutorial that I came across. I'm so glad I found you! I have had my serger for over 2 years and have been too intimidated to use it. You are helping me gain confidence.
Thank you so much. That one second "put your thread under your presser foot" saved my life. I've tried almost everything and I couldn't find it in a video. I thread everything perfect and i get a jam up. Now its running smooth!
Thank you so much for this video. I have had this serger for a week and every day I have spent time trying to get it threaded correctly to no avail. Even with the manual next to me, I was still doing something wrong but I didn't know what it was. I was considering sending the serger back when I found your video. I didn't know where else to turn for help. Thanks to you I now can thread the serger correctly and faster too. I was even able to use the serger on my project. Thanks again for everything!
I watched video after video, and some even more than once, and I honestly thought my serger was just broken since I got it secondhand 😞 but I watched your video and it worked!!!!! I’m so happy!!
My manual tells me to start with the 4th or blue string. I did that thing 4 times and it kept breaking. finally came to youtube and did it once with your video. Everything went smoothly! Thank you so much for making a video and having it be as detailed. Still not sure what i did wrong except starting with the blue one. Again thank you!!!
This video saved my life!!! I was having so much trouble figuring out the issue with my lower looper until I saw this and had a voila moment. Thank you x 3 🙏🙏🙏
I've had one of those girls for about 15 years, after a person uses it for awhile it does get easier to thread. Your tension suggestion is so true. Thanks for the reminder video, I'm getting ready to start sewing season and use the machine.
Thanks for sharing from Atlanta Ga USA had to go back to your video look at your setting got it right thank you once again out of looking at everybody else
Commenting on behalf of my wife (and me, too, cuz I was watching the video). Fantastic video! Our only suggestion would be, if you ever make another video, it would be helpful if you had a spotlight aiming at the dark portions of the machine. The auto exposure control of your video camera takes an average of all the lens sees. Since the machine is white and the innards are black, the black portion gets underexposed. A simple fix would be to position a desk lamp (the kind that has a cover so the light aims only in one direction) aiming the lamp from the right towards the black innards. That also would eliminate the need for the illustration you added to various segments of the video. Just a suggestion . . . but still, your video helped my wife immensely! Thanks!
Thank you so much. I've sewed on a regular machine for years. Not doing enough sewing to justify purchasing a surger. But I bit the bullet and was pulling my hair out trying to thread using the included instructions. It is so easy now. 👍👍👍
Thank you so much! I've been threading my machine the wrong way (and much harder way) for the last year. After attempting to thread my machine for the last two hours, your video helped me do it the first time through
This was the very first video that I had to watched many times, before I got my serger machine. Thank you for making it so simple to understand.❤️ I got my serger machine last Thursday and I really love it 😊
Thank you. I’ve been sewing since I was 13 on a sewing machine. I got my first Serger for my birthday this year and was intimidated by threading it. It’s just so different. The manual’s pictures just didn’t give enough info. With your video, I threaded it correctly the first time.
THANK YOU THANK YOU AND THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS VIDEO!!!!!!!!! I even changed my settings to yours and boy what a difference. Did I say thank you? Much appreciated!
Thank you so much I dropped my serger on the floor had to glue so pieces back in place I haven’t changed my thread in so long that I forgot how to re thread Thanks your video made it simple and quick👌🏾
Thank you. I just bought my Brother Lock 1034D and I used it but the thread broke and I got stuck on how to thread the machine; I tried and tried but no success, I tried your method and “Voila!” It worked.
After threading up my overlooker four times, and it refusing to work, u began to doubt my memory, and if course I've no idea where my book is! Lol However, this worked on the first try, and my memory hadn't failed me, as usual, it likes to be threaded up numerous times before it will work lol
Thank you so much.....very helpful indeed.....I just have one fast question, if you are using knit fabric, do I need to change my needles to ballpoint like we do on a sewing machine? Thanks so much!
I inherited a 929D with no instruction manual. It threads the same way as the one on this video. I like how you give up close shots of where the threads needs to go.
Great video. Easy to follow instructions. I have the Brother 1034D. Would you share where to purchase the lamp you have attached to the serger? I have been searching for one for a while, and haven't found anything I am sold on, but I love the one you are using.

Thank you I now know I was leaving a little hole with number 4 THANK YOU
How do you decide or at what point is a serger is a good idea? I see an offer for a brand new still in the box serger, same model here, for 250. I do craft sewing and am going to learn to sew my own clothes. Is this a good idea and a good price? I’d like to hear some opinions from experience. Thanks. 😊 It is the 1034D not the 1034DX.
I have a Toyota SL3404D overlocker and although I have looked at several UA-cam videos, I still can't seem to get the hang of it and even the tension is trying my patience to it's maximum I will follow your video and see how far I get. If not then last resort, I will have to pay for someone to do it for me. : -(
Was wondering why the threading starts with the third (green) position. I’ve checked the manual and it doesn’t refer to this order. Does it make a difference?
What if the second needle thread doesn’t intertwined with the rest of the other threads? It stared to overlock without the second needle thread ever since I fixed my denim shorts and the layers were a little thick. I fear something must of broke inside my serger.😰 I wish I can put up a picture to show you...
Hi Jennifer! I love your videos :) Thank you so much for the informative contents. I am in search of a serger, and wondering if you still use this machine? It has been a while you posted this video, and wondering if it is still working good. Thank you! Happy New Year! --Kate
Thanks, Jennifer! Now I just need to take my serger out of the sewing room closet...I've been sewing for 40+ years and always thread my sewing machine with the power on.
Jenn, did your serger come with a needle screw set/allen wrench? Of course when i need to pull out a needle to do a rolled hem, I find that I don't have that needle screw set. :/
I have a Brother 1034DX and cannot find any videos on how to thread or use this serger. Need more videos on this particular model. it is a little different in the threading etc.
Unfortunately I just cant get the threading to work no matter how many times I try. A thread keeps getting caught and knots everything up. I'll try again tomorrow!
Can't touch this machine now -- unless $530 or more on Amazon is anyone's idea of a bargain. I've checked everywhere -- Out Of Stock. Anyone have an idea if they've stopped making them or it's just temporary due to COVID-19? Can't get an answer from Brother.
Another useful tool is a makeup brush. The scrawny, stiff little brush that comes with a serger doesn't do nearly as good a job at removing lint as a soft makeup brush.
I’ve threaded my serger this EXACT way MORE THAN A BILLION TIMES and it “tests” perfectly but when I go to see actual fabric, a thread ALWAYS breaks!! HEEELLPPP PLEASE!! 😫😭
Jamie Palmer I was thinking that as well! However, since posting this comment, I believe I’ve gotten it to cooperate lol thank you for getting back to me!
This is STILL the only video that I could find to accurately and specifically give instructions on where to put the tails! So thank you!
please NEVER take this video down ! it's just PERFECT! thank you so much!
No problem 😊
Can't believe I've spent hours today trying to thread my brother overllocker haven't been on it for a couple of years .saw this Video took me 5 minutes, thank you x

You can do it!
Great video! Great instructions with no unnecessary chatter, and very clear close-up pics of each step. Thanks for the video.
I've put off threading/using my serger because I could never do it right. I have a 1534D. IT WORKS! Thank you sooooo much! You are a Queen!
Thank you so much. That one second "put your thread under your presser foot" saved my life. I've tried almost everything and I couldn't find it in a video. I thread everything perfect and i get a jam up. Now its running smooth!
Sometimes it's the little things, right? Happy to help!
Oh my goodness I did IT!!!! Thank you sooooo much. This is the first time something has gone right in my sewing.
Thank you so much for this video. I have had this serger for a week and every day I have spent time trying to get it threaded correctly to no avail. Thank you for that little trick on thread #4 of threading that last hole before sliding the little piece out. Makes it so much easier.
Thank you so much!!!! My wife's new machine went haywire and, using your fab video, I re-threaded it in no time. Phew.........
So sweet of you to help her!
Thank you so much, Your video is the only one I have seen to thread the upper looper before you hook it. I look forward to more tutorials....
Excellant tutorial. I have such a dufficult time threading this machine. Thank you.
I watched video after video, and some even more than once, and I honestly thought my serger was just broken since I got it secondhand 😞 but I watched your video and it worked!!!!! I’m so happy!!

HEY JENNIFER THE VIDEO ON HOW TO THREAD THE SERGER WAS GREAT!!!! NEVER HAD A SERGER BEFORE, NOW I KNOW WHAT TO BUY. THANKS JENNIFER
MICHAEL
This video saved my life!!! I was having so much trouble figuring out the issue with my lower looper until I saw this and had a voila moment. Thank you x 3 🙏🙏🙏

Your explanation is the best by far on youtube. Thank you!
+Joan B. Thank you so much!!! 😀

I watched 4 videos. Yours was the only one that was clear and I did it! Thanks
Thank you so much!!! This is the only video that actually made sense to me and I finally get it.
Thank you so much. I've sewed on a regular machine for years. Not doing enough sewing to justify purchasing a surger. But I bit the bullet and was pulling my hair out trying to thread using the included instructions. It is so easy now. 👍👍👍
BEST 1034D threading tutorial on UA-cam!
Thank you!
when you start sewing do you start with the fabric right under the needles or where the knife is?
Thank you so much! I've been threading my machine the wrong way (and much harder way) for the last year. After attempting to thread my machine for the last two hours, your video helped me do it the first time through
Ugh that is so frustrating but glad you're okay now!!! It really isn't that bad time wise once you get comfortable with the serger threading.
This was the very first video that I had to watched many times, before I got my serger machine. Thank you for making it so simple to understand.❤️ I got my serger machine last Thursday and I really love it 😊

You have saved me I’m very new at overlocking.Thank so so much😃😃👍👍
Omg thank you! Finally a decent threading tutorial.
I have to say thank you for this tutorial and your video was awesome
Fantastic video. Learned alot and really enjoyed it. Looking forward to watching more of your videos. Thank you
Thank you for this! This looked very intimidating to thread but you made it so easy!
You can do it!
Thank you so much!!! I have a really old brother but it worked just the same. Big hug!
Hugs to you Sandra!
THANK YOU THANK YOU AND THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS VIDEO!!!!!!!!! I even changed my settings to yours and boy what a difference. Did I say thank you? Much appreciated!
Happy to help!!
Really nice video. Also, your voice is nice to listen to. Thanks!
Awww thank you!
Thank you for your clear directions! You helped me tonight.
Thank you so much I dropped my serger on the floor had to glue so pieces back in place I haven’t changed my thread in so long that I forgot how to re thread Thanks your video made it simple and quick👌🏾
Thank you so much. I really was struggling with their manual.
You did a beautiful video of how to thread this machine. Thank you so much!!!!!
Thank you Darlene!
Thank you!!!!!! Your demonstration was clear and easy to follow along 🤗🤗🤗
Thank you. I just bought my Brother Lock 1034D and I used it but the thread broke and I got stuck on how to thread the machine; I tried and tried but no success, I tried your method and “Voila!” It worked.
Awesome - glad you are able to use your new serger!!!
After threading up my overlooker four times, and it refusing to work, u began to doubt my memory, and if course I've no idea where my book is! Lol However, this worked on the first try, and my memory hadn't failed me, as usual, it likes to be threaded up numerous times before it will work lol
Thank you very much. Your guide was really easy to follow. 😁
Thank you so much.....very helpful indeed.....I just have one fast question, if you are using knit fabric, do I need to change my needles to ballpoint like we do on a sewing machine? Thanks so much!
You certainly can switch them out to ballpoint needles, although I honestly haven't and do knits frequently.
@@SewingReport oh that's awesome. I will practice on some scrap first. I have so much knit fabric, but was hesitant until now. Thank you very much
I havecreied and cried over mine but goingbtk have another go after seeing yourcvideo thanks
I inherited a 929D with no instruction manual. It threads the same way as the one on this video. I like how you give up close shots of where the threads needs to go.
Awesome! Glad to help!
I forgot to add I have the 1634D it seems to be the same as the 1034D
Again, thank you so much for such a clear video!
Thank you for the lovely comments!
Thanks ! very informative video, you have help me not to be so fearful. I'm gonna buy my first serger..
Awesome!!! If you make a lot of garments - it is REALLY handy to have!
Great video. Easy to follow instructions. I have the Brother 1034D. Would you share where to purchase the lamp you have attached to the serger? I have been searching for one for a while, and haven't found anything I am sold on, but I love the one you are using.
Thank you I now know I was leaving a little hole with number 4 THANK YOU
Perfect tutorial. Many thanks!
THANK YOU!! I NEEDED THIS TUTORIAL 😊
I have also found that taking off the foot helps to really speed up the process.
THANK YOU!!!!!! I was ready to cry 💗
Bless you! I followed with you and got it right the first time!
Wonderful!!!
Thank you so much, your video was the best and most straight forward!!
So glad it helped!!!
Do you have a video on this machine hemming pants? Idk why I so afraid of it! 😫
Thank you so much! You saved me . Got it right the first time.
How do you decide or at what point is a serger is a good idea? I see an offer for a brand new still in the box serger, same model here, for 250. Thank You! The CD video that went with my serger was to dark to get a good idea where the 4th thread was going.
Wasn't the CD just comical???
I have a Toyota SL3404D overlocker and although I have looked at several UA-cam videos, I still can't seem to get the hang of it and even the tension is trying my patience to it's maximum
I will follow your video and see how far I get. If not then last resort, I will have to pay for someone to do it for me. : -(
What's the setting you used for the knit fabric. Also what the setting do you use for gauze fabric, very light cotton fabric.
What to do if one of your spool ran out of thread, like the lower loop ? 😫
Hi Jennifer! I love your videos :) Thank you so much for the informative contents. I am in search of a serger, and wondering if you still use this machine? It has been a while you posted this video, and wondering if it is still working good. Thank you! Happy New Year! --Kate
Still using the serger and it works just as well as when I bought it 5.5 years ago. Great value and I do recommend.
Thanks for the beautiful video, it was helpful
Thank you!!! This is exactly what I needed.
Alright!!! I still love this serger 4 years going!
Thanks, Jennifer! Now I just need to take my serger out of the sewing room closet...I've been sewing for 40+ years and always thread my sewing machine with the power on.
+Laura Jones Definitely bust it out of the closet!
Sorry! To the testament of Brother machines, I don't have the need to upgrade... but isn't that good?
Hi Toni, I also get the 1034DX and cannot get the threading right. Are you able to fix it?
great video learned a lot
That was so helpful! My green thread, the one with the 11 steps to thread through keeps coming out of the loophole when I try to sew. Any suggestions?
Which loophole is it coming out of? That last finger you put it through?
Yes the last finger it goes through...
Unfortunately I just cant get the threading to work no matter how many times I try. A thread keeps getting caught and knots everything up. I'll try again tomorrow!
Oh my goodness this was SO helpful!!! Thank you very much! Awesome tutorial! :)
Do you put stretch thread in both loopers?
+babydiva81 I have not in this instance but have heard it's good to do that - especially if you're doing a rolled hem
Does it cut as it sows
Como le hago para saber si las agujas de abajo estan chuecas?
Thank you Jennifer 😊
Thanks, got one of these for my birthday. Used it a bit but then thread broke. I think I see where I went wrong.
+Joanne McMillan It is kind of intimidating when you first get it, but after a while it gets comfortable to use. Now I use it ALL THE TIME!!!
Can't touch this machine now -- unless $530 or more on Amazon is anyone's idea of a bargain. I've checked everywhere -- Out Of Stock. Anyone have an idea if they've stopped making them or it's just temporary due to COVID-19? Can't get an answer from Brother.
I don't have an overlocker, but gosh darn it, I want one.
+SakuyaLuigi it does make life easier!
Excellent, thank you x
Thank you ❤️
Thank you helped alot
OMG thanks so much!!
Another useful tool is a makeup brush. The scrawny, stiff little brush that comes with a serger doesn't do nearly as good a job at removing lint as a soft makeup brush.
I like that idea!
THANK YOUUUUU
Thank you

Thank you for watching!
I did all of this and it did not work….
😇❤👍
Thank you!
