I actually had to stop listening to this band recently to preserve my love for their sound and not overdo it. Haven't heard an aesthetic I bonded with so much in years.
The more I watch this the better it gets. As someone who listens to music like this but doesn't conform to how people in the scene should look, I really appreciate this video and it's message!
There is no dress code, no way you're "supposed to look". If people give you shit for how you look or dress, because they think it doesn't "fit the scene" they are worthless posers.
Same here. I'm a clean cut kid who works as an electrician in a rural town, and I was raised Christian. Everyone around here listens to country pop, but then I'll be blasting the stuff I want to listen to on my stereo while I'm working in a panel room or bending conduit and people are always really confused and surprised. It's nice to see a recognition that music genres don't necessarily have a face that every fan must adhere to.
Based on the video and the lyrics it's clearly a critique of scenesters who expect everyone to look and think the same, whilst judging anyone outside their own.
This is absolutely incredible. My favorite release of theirs and I’ve listened to most of em lol. They just keep getting better and better. All hail Thou!
4 years should be long enough for spoilers haha. In this video, Thou are the empty-gazed people in the crowd. The "band" is playing their instruments; but it isn't them. The two guys in the opening scene are Chip and Lee from The Body.
I learned about this band after discovering "The Unspeakable Oath". It took some getting used to, but I absolutely LOVE THIS BAND! Everything they touch turns to gold. Massively underrated and underappreciated!
Silence any insight Nuance ground into dust Suppressive personalities Mechanicals to the fore As the short sighted ne'er do wells proselytize In various degrees of mumbles and shouts We laugh! Enjoyed this. Thank you for sharing. This took me back to a show that I went to about 15 years ago when I heard the band Zao. You must have similar musical influences. I appreciate and identify with your subject matter much more though.
Zao has a very similar blackened vocal style, and this particular video does have a Liberate te ex Inferis visual vibe, but I think the bands' tones and styles belong to completely different metal subgenres.
99aadsag99 I've honestly watched this video a few times now trying to kind of figure that out. Who's playing vs who's wearing white standing with blank faces. "Behind the mask, another mask" I think it's a pretty deep video, and again it keeps bringing me back. Plus the song absolutely slays.

With so many of my favorite bands putting out eh music in the past year, its so awesome that Thou is still absolutely ruining my life with amazing music. This new album will for sure be my most played in the next couple years.
I love their groove and tone. I just wish the vocalist had more versatility. Edit: one month later. Addicted to this song so much I want to know how to play it. Buying a baritone
One thing I'd like to know about this video is whether the participants were aware of the meaning. As in, do they all get that it's a critique of scene-conformists and they're acting up? Or are they just playing their natural role without realising they're actually having the piss taken out of them?
