  • What are Eccentric Pull ups and are they worth my time doing? In this video I will Explain why you should be doing eccentric pull ups or negatives pull ups to increase your strength, build more muscle and help you do more pull ups.
I will also explain what are eccentric pull ups , what are negative pull ups
Pull ups are a back and bicep calisthenics exercise that are one of the best for building muscle and strength on your upper body. The pull up or chin up is a hard exercise though and learning the pull up is hard because you are lifting your whole bodyweight. Eccentric pull ups are perfect for beginners for the pull ups as they help you build the strength to be able to do your first pull up, with help from the banded pull up you can unlock the pull up and progress. The thing is once you can do several pull ups and no longer see yourself as a beginner pull ups, most people stop doing them. Negative pull ups are not just for beginners but for people more advanced and can help you to progress with your pull ups and increase your pull up numbers. Eccentric pull ups are great for strength training and help you progress further even with your weighted calisthenics or weighted pull ups. Introducing weighted eccentric pull ups or weighted negative pull ups you can push pass your current strength levels and go further. Weighted negative pull ups are a great tool to increase your strength with pull ups and calisthenics

Good video m8.. I've had a bit off a health scare as I lost quite a bit of weight within a few months. And not change my eating habits. Don't want to go into it to much. But blood test ok esc. So still don't know why. Anyway with all that happening we still went on holiday to Florida my thinking was if it was going to be the last time I want to make sure to make them memories. On top of that believable not ended up catching covid as well so so just got over that.. Anyway been back now for a couple of weeks and going back to the gym Monday and just taking my time with my training and I haven't done any for a while so I will probably do negative pull-ups as it helped me in the past.

@@LeeDowningKeat luckily covid was just like a normal flu. And feel a bit better now. Seeing doctor again soon. But it's not going to stop me training. I hope to keep doing pull-ups in my 70s.. And Florida was excellent and really hoping to go again in a couple of years.

It's been a while since I did pull-ups with my full body weight because of injuries as the positive was aggravating my subscapularis injury. However, I found doing just the negative with a pause at the top for 1-2 seconds, I got 8 reps X 3 before my subscap started to hate it, as opposed to just babying the area for longer! Felt it for a few days in my lats/teres major, which I haven't felt in a LONG time because of injuries. It felt great! Thanx for reminding me to even try doing a body weight pull-up, Lee!

@@LeeDowningKeat Yeah buddy! Thank ya, it can't be much longer rehabbing this. However, goes to show, that the older you get the longer injuries take to recover from yay lol

@ddpwe5269 I can agree with that, I'm not old but can definitely feel the difference between recovery in my 20's compared to 30's. With Age it is definitely train smarter not harder

Definitely helps with recovery and inflammation. My chest Injury is nearly healed even though I've been doing heavy kb press and chin ups so I'm happy with that. My issue was always sleeping but been taking a sleep aid of that ashwagandha

Any idea how well eccentric pullups work for rehabbing medial epicondylitis of the elbow?

My advice is in person advice trumps online advice.if you are having issues you need to make sure it gets checked out and a personal training plan specifically for you in given. I don't want to give advice that is wrong and makes the issue wrong especially with the limited advice I could be given and I'm not a doctor or physio. Wish you luck on your recovery

I use weighted eccentrics when i cant get another full rep. Its surprising how many you can do on a supposedly empty tank.

It's a pretty useful variation to use and very often not used or talked about
